Richard scores an amazing 11th head-to-head match today. He has been chosen a lot in recent shows, despite his below-average track record. Here's an update on all 5 celebs to have scored 3 or more matches so far, along with their current accuracy %: Betty - 46.7% (7 wins in 15 attempts). Charles - 46.2% (6 wins in 13 attempts). Bert - 30.8% (4 wins in 13 attempts). Brett - 28.6% (4 wins in 14 attempts). Richard - 26.2% (11 wins in 42 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 143, excluding the lost/missing episodes 31, 32, 33.
I wonder if any of the winning cards given to the contestants have survived? Would like to have one of them, particularly one signed by Richard Dawson.
Ever notice how Brett is always coughing almost every episode? She doesn't even try to do it off-mic. Yet another way for her to gain attention. Richard says he's doing a Dean Martin roast. I can't find it. Anyone know if it's on YT? That Meredith McRae is scrumptious!!!

that's like going to a TV show today for one little contest and making 20,000 in less than one hour, one game is half an hour and after that you can just quit and go home with 20 Grand.
I think they had it playing it in the studio, because I've heard Gene and some of the panelists comment on it in a way that indicates they could hear it in real time.
i think its because of the slate they use in the very beginning where Johnny Olsen says the date and episode number, i was wonder the very thing when it just hit me that was probably the reason
@@drewtaylor2297 SORRY - NOT EVEN CLOSE . . . The "slate" provides a Reference Point used to sync the video and audio in POST-PRODUCTION, since they're recorded independently. Amazing how stupid some contestants were. Entertainment was the reason. Still to this day producers have no problem finding entertainment like that. Dumbass people will always provide a show of fun.
I'm surprised they ever invited Orson Bean back to do the show. The guy had rotten answers and he was a complete annoyance. He and Brett should have started their own show, "The Never Match Game".
Orson Bean was even more annoying than Brett in this episode, with his inane whistling and then ruining the question for Virginia, the contestant, A question with the easiest answer - "DIrections".
Brad Stephan I do not respect people like you because of your age and inability to keep your thoughts (that nobody else cares about) in your head and off the internet
Oh dear another sexist remark from Richard. Needs a kiss to get motivation instead of being a stand-up guy and try to match contestants in good faith, not because he just happens to be in the mood. And the implication about he'd love to go to bed with.....great danes.
R.I.P. Orson Bean ❤️

Poor Meredith McRae had such a sad ending to life at just 56 years old.
I just google her. How sad. Her life ended too soon and in a horrible way. Pretty lady. ❤
can someone say what happened?

Oddly enough, I would have matched on the Eskimo question.
Funny delightful show!❤

Marcia was low-key awesome in the Bob Newhart Show. 71 acting credits. Dawson only had 30.
Here comes Richard's 1974 mustache. (As much as I love Richard, I'm a fan of the beard and mustache, but not the mustache alone.)
$5,000 is 20,000 or more
today in 2020
I usually just multiply the amount by 5 to get today's approximation

Meredith trying to get as much screen time as possible by giving reasons for her answers 😂
I like that nobody loses money he or she wins on this show. That's always stressful and depressing - makes me tense.
Brett Somers is Sooo Annoying
How much of the music could the contestants, panelists, and audience hear, and how much was added in post-production, please?

Yes, Annika is correct. It was on a tape track played live during the show.

Was that Orson who whistled while Gene was reading a question? I would have told him to put a lid on it. Very irritating
I think it was - and , yes irritating as hell - almost as bad as Brett's cackling

I hate whistling any where, any time. I hope he did it only during the 'Falling ----' question ...
I'm impressed by Gene's restraint in not calling him on it! It was very annoying.
In those days they had so much fun without getting sued for touching each other
"leash for husband".....sounds like something that would sell big! And what kind of answer is "Italian" for the submarine sandwich question?
Forgot this episode was the reason that Gene always kept reminding the audience not to shout out any answers while the game was going on...
typical Brett
No name was given so I guess she assumed a "To Do" list was made by a woman.
I thought it was out of character for Olson to whistle when others were talking, but he was just giving the contestant a hint. Too bad it was a wrong one ...
They should have asked Orson Bean to leave the show and done a second take of the whole thing. He was terrible.

Orson
Seems like Orson was jealous because every one always called on Richard. He was rude to whistle while the host was talking.
He was whistling the song "Falling In Love Again" which could have been a hint or he could have just been drunk, like they often were.
