How to tell me you are an Apple fan-boi without telling me you are an Apple fan-boi. Why are you even trying to defend this outrageous price gouging? 🤦♂
Essentially buying from apple refurbished is purchasing the brand new item that were returned then you pay for the money apple losses due to back-shipping cost 😦
Yep. "Apple refurbished" is just "The Apple Store but even MORE rip-off-y prices than the regular store but marketed as 'refurbished' and knowing most won't do the math."
I bought a M1 MacBook air for $850 on Apple Refurb. It was a fantastic experience, until a month later when it went on sale for $650 at Walmart. I was outside of my return policy, but hey, these things happen.
Same, bought one used from fb for 925, mind u with 512gb of storage and 1 year of apple care, and 1 year later they sell the base models for like 600 here in Mexico

They used to do that on food delivery services where I live... Now restaurant staff deliver orders. I guess the fear of losing their job is enough for them to actually bring my order to me while I lazily sit there and do sweet nothing. Damn, I feel kind of bad for delivery drivers when I think of it like that... Oh well, I usually tip them because I tend to have cash and mainly use card these days.
@@GrumpyWolfTechdifference is they’re atleast paid decent 😂. them doordash drivers would take that 750 laptop and lose out on the 7.72 they would’ve gotten from the delivery
@@sharingiscaring53 I agree too... I was able to get two of the regular homepods and apple care with them for the same price as getting two new homepods without apple care
It’s almost as if you should price shop items at other stores before buying… bought 2 refurb MacBooks for $300-$500 off retail in the last 2 years and they were both 0 battery cycles and in mint condition. Been dailying both of them and haven’t had an issue. Best Buy did have decent prices but didn’t have the exact spec I needed, such as a 16GB M1 MBA
I bought an apple refurbished ipod back in the 2000s. Ordered at 4pm. It arrived the next day before noon with normal shipping! I do know Apple inspects, repairs and puts a new shell on all of them. Mine was pristine. And it came with a full warranty. Not a one month. Full year warranty. It still works perfectly more than 14 years later. Personally though i've only bought computers new. Smaller things
@@MrDarkblader97 that is incorrect , it was running many years before that , I bought a refurb Mac book pro in 2011/2012 and the Apple refurbished store wasn't new then , same warranty , plain packaging and a lower price , I dont know where you see them at more than retail, unless a different retailer is heavily discounting an end of line product.
7:40 the SE is basically an Apple Watch 4 or 5 i don't remember exactly, and it doesn't take "ages" to charge, the battery is so small that in 45 minutes you're pretty much ok for a full day of use.
For those who want to know this my friend used to work as operations manager for one of the warehouse where these devices are packaged checked and shipped from he told me that 35% of the iPhones iPads watches AirPods are excess returned stock or immediately returned ones with manufacturer defects and the other 65 % are actually the old ones with extensive replacements and repairs so basically there is higher chances that you might just get a newer excess stock which was not sold (depending in the area you live in) at the refurbished prices in my area you can immediately get the pro models after they are discontinued from the line up I had ordered my 12 13 14 and 15 pros from here and the only I think used one I got is the 13 pro others were new never used iPhones at a significant cheaper prices ( prices and purchase power of individuals varies from regions areas and countries) And also he told me that they try to get rid of the excess/newer devices first cause of less percentage of consumer complaints less chances of returns etc customer care bul l s h it
@ well my first language is not English , so knowing and speaking multiple languages fluently ever heard of that 🙂 and if you read my comment and you understood it then ig you just being salty 🤣
Missed the biggest part that they all have the same warranty as new devices. Also have the same ability to add insurance up until the phone or iPad is 2 years old
I've purchased both a MacBook Pro and a Studio on the Apple Refurbished store, and I lucked-out because the MacBook already had most of a 3-Year AppleCare plan attached to the serial number. Apple seemingly doesn't remove plans off a serial number when it goes to become a refurbished item. Even it hadn't the deals were good, I bought the M2 MacBook with as much RAM and storage as could be configured on that model, for just slightly more than the base model cost. And the Studio was nearly 25% off retail because they had moved from the M1 to M2 just prior. No experience with an iPhone/iPad or anything else, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy from the Refurbished store again. While individual retailers do sell things for rock-bottom prices at times, they are usually a few generations old and/or refurbished by an unknown third-party company.
This needs to be higher up - apple refurbished are all eligible for AppleCare. The best deals are found when you want a particular configuration and to see if that configuration is available as a refurb. Current year model with the ram and storage you want for $150 less than new, all with the same warranty options? Yeah, that's usually going to be worth it for the right people.
With how many stories where people sent stuff to be repaired by apple just for them to say we can’t fix it. I’m thinking most or not all of these products are actually brand new. Just returned.
Don't feel so bad about it. You'd be much worse off buying off Amazon or eBay. Scammers and overpricing are occasional (low-res Google Image-like product photos can be a red flag) on both, although both sites have cracked down on them and changed reviewer policy, but still. I know the experience and isn't pretty.
So...the crux of this video is that Apple treats their refurb store as if third party stores and sales just don't exist. Compared to retail Apple pricing, they're a good bargain but literally every big box store just throws sales on older stock they want to move and make the refurb pricing seem silly. Sounds very Apple, indeed.
That will happen with any manufacturer. People forget Apple is a manufacturer and isn’t meant to do single sales. They have a huge distribution chain and they cannot put themselves in a position where they compete against their own distributors in prices or they will lose the distributors. That’s why you’ll find every single item is more expensive in the Apple site than in Best Buy, for example. If the site was cheaper than Beat Buy, why would Best Buy even try to sell the product?. Apples main commercialization strategy is wholesale, not single sales
Apple refurbished products are effectively new, at a 15% discount. For standard configurations, that’s not always a good price because you can sometimes find comparable deals at various retailers. However, for custom configurations, it’s often a better deal than you’ll find elsewhere.
Discount? More like a 25% increase. Several options were more expensive than those retailing *new.* Stop sucking up to a trillion dollar company, it's not healthy.
@@Ryotsu2112and they don’t discount their prices either when buying new items. I think one time they did discount the first generation HomePod by a few dollars but that was it.
Still think they're vastly overpriced for the most part, but I guess that's just Big Name Tech Company™ stuff nowadays, really. Apple, Samsung, et al. They're all pushing it up as far and as fast as they can, and Google aren't far behind either.
In return, they go the extra mile compared to your off-the-wall China brand e-waste. Longer software support (both Google Play Svc and Android OS), Hardware encryption (Knox, Tensor), NFC Payments (Samsung Pay, Google Pay), and a call centre that is held to much higher standards than third world companies even though they're all in the same place.
One very, very nice thing about the refurbished store. Specifically for Mac computers, you can get nice custom configurations without having to wait. I wanted 64 GB of RAM and 2 TB on an M1 max when those were a thing. The new store had the delivery date a month out, the refurbished store was $300 cheaper which isn’t much, but delivered the next day.
His comparisons were somewhat misleading. he was comparing the cost of a 512GB iPhone 13 to the cost of a base storage iPhone 14 and 16. To provide context, a 512GB iPhone 16 actually costs $1099, which is $400 more than the iPhone 13 he purchased.
@@HoganHasSpoken yep, if you want 4k video recording and 512GB, that's a USD400 saving It's a phone. People act like they "need" the latest one. What you "need" in a phone is a good condition battery, a decent camera, and enough storage. The phone part is a given.
I like the idea of companies selling near new refurbed old devices, and it incentivises me to return the phone when upgrading for a decent discount, but they need to be priced as such. Every thing you bought should've been 25% cheaper than you got it for. You can find better devices for much cheaper at the cost of like 90% battery. You can tell if a device was well taken care of, so it's not like it's a gamble.
On eBay I saw an iPhone 13 512 GB in very good condition go for about $520 I think the question is whether or not as a buyer you are comfortable with your phone having some nicks and scuffs or not. Also with these eBay buyers you don’t know if they replace parts and if they did whether they are genuine. At least with Apple when it comes to iPhone you know they replaced the battery and from the looks of it maybe even the screen with genuine parts. I’d like to see how it looks from the inside. Whether or not they actually clean it and stuff. Something to consider. Great video.
You can always ask the seller tho but yeah since it's online seller it would be hit & miss even after those inquiries unless that seller has been established for long time
I frankly don't see the point of buying Apple products used as they're heavily overpriced. 500 bucks for a used phone is quite insane! If you're strapped for cash and crave an iphone specifically i sort of get it, but honestly just buy any new android device or save even more money and buy a used android flagship at like 100-200 dollars (which is what used technology should cost in the first place!!). But if you really need an iphone honestly just buy new, Apple refurbished is just such a bad deal i wouldn't personally bother. The reason they don't knock the price down on that front is that everyone would probably flock for the refurbished option, though i guess they could just make them limited quantity to offset a potential loss in new iphone customers. But yeah, the used apple product market is wild to me. Just don't bother, it's literally not worthwhile. Buying an android midranger brand new is a better way to spend that money
The “Very Good” on eBay is actually physically like 10/10 or 9/10. I’ve bought from them numerous times. It’s basically physically brand new. Battery health 80% and above. This is on the eBay refurbished program
You also get a very good warranty with the Apple refurbished. Anything that goes wrong (within a year? Can't fully remember the duration) and they'll repair/replace. So you do have to factor that in with the price, as well as having the genuine parts - so I don't think it's the worst deal in the world, but it is definitely not cheap.
Over the years I have bought a MacBook, two MacBook Air and two iPhones from Apple’s refurbished section. In every case, what I received looked like a brand new item and in fact, I have no reason to think that it wasn’t a brand new item. (I have read in multiple places that if the factory packaging gets damaged before the item is sold, Apple repackages the item in generic packaging and sells it through their refurbished channel). If you’re going to buy an apple product anyway I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t buy it from the refurbished section and save whatever money you can
My reason for going Apple refurb for a Macbook was you can find better RAM upgraded configurations than when buying a new discounted product from a non-Apple store.
I mean the reason Apple charges so much for a refurb is not necessarily to make money, but rather make you think, should I pay for the refurb? or just get the newer one which could either be slightly cheaper or maybe a few hundred bucks more.
I used to work as an ACMT at an Apple Authorise Service provider and the amount of people that complained when they found out their warranty claim was going to be a refurbished unit. Then they collected their replacement and not a single one complained after getting it out of the box as their old one was scuffed and used where their refurbs were pristine and sometimes had newer tech in it. This is one thing Apple do right.
The real scam are the trade-ins. They offered my sister $75 for her 4 year old Macbook Pro (which was in excellent condition since she rocked a case and keyboard cover). A Macbook Pro with the same hardware and similar condition easily sells for over $600 on ebay. I decided to just buy it offer her myself for $400
@ nah, I was completely transparent with her with the going rate. She offered to sell it to me for $200 and I refused and counter offered $400. She just wanted to recoup a bit of the cost of her upgrade.
I bought refurbished iPad pro M1 from Apple and it was actually a grear deal, cuz it was just after the M2 started selling and M1 was nowhere to be bought, so it was the cheapest "new" iPad pro you could buy.
Refurbished is considered "new". Same warranty etc. as actually new devices. Also another thing to consider (depending on region), is consumer law. If you end up having to contact place of purchase because of whatever reason and the item has to be sent in for service, Apple in this case has impeccable support. It's truly world class. If you happen to buy it from a place with bad customer service, that might be a something to consider as well.
It really does depend on what you buy and check carefully about the pricing. I bought my wife and myself new iPads a while back. They were absolutely more than 15% less than I could buy them anywhere else and were only a few months old as it was just after the new models came out.
If Apple refurbished put too big a discount on their devices it would undercut their distribution partners. And that would piss off a lot of MBAs. The Apple refurbished store basically serves as a pr tool to show how eco friendly they are
Here’s an Apple intelligence summary of this Apple video: Apple Refurbished offers high-quality, gently used tech with genuine replacement parts and a new battery for iOS devices. However, prices are often higher than new models, and the refurbished Apple Watch SE is less expensive than the same model from Best Buy. Despite the high prices, the refurbished devices are in excellent condition, making them a good option for those seeking a discount on Apple products. The reviewer purchased refurbished Apple products, including an iPad Mini, AirPods Pro, and MacBook Air. They found the products to be in excellent condition, with no visible flaws or damage. However, they noted that the refurbished products were not significantly cheaper than buying new ones, and recommended price checking before purchasing. Discounts may be offered for slightly used items. Subscribe to the channel and enable notifications for more content. Edit: 8:25 You never told us the battery health on the Apple Watch SE!
Apple is a Manufacturer. Everything you buy from them will be more expensive unless you’re a distributor buying in bulk. This is because they have to respect the distribution chain and they cannot and should not compete in prices with their distributors. That’s why you’ll find the same Apple products are cheaper on best buy or any other store than they are in the Apple site. Yes. This also includes refurbished items, and yes, they also wholesale those too.
I mean what was he expecting? It’s Apple. They never discount prices during a product life time. Thought it was pretty common knowledge it’s better to go third party unless buying a brand new launched product
Property taxes are a scam! They are taxing you every year on unrealized gains. Only if you sell your home should you be taxed! The government steals from us hard working Americans every day and it’s never enough. Why is it that we must budget while they just spend like it’s going out of style? Why do we have a credit score while the government is trillions in debt? 😅
Since Apple doesn’t discount anything the refurbished deals aren’t super enticing unless you’re looking at specifically specd Macs since a lot of stores can’t carry them. Like if you wanted a 32GB RAM 2TB SSD M3 Max MacBook Pro 14” I’d search the refurbished store over eBay typically
You also have look at Apple’s return policy. It’s 14 days from purchase. Most if not ALL refurbished models you buy are returned simply because someone wanted something different. So sure, you could buy a new Apple Watch from Best Buy and sometimes get $50 off, but with Apple Refurbished, you’re paying those prices with at most two weeks of use. That includes the Mac Pro.
I really don't understand Apple's strategy. At least in my country, it is much more expensive to buy an Apple product in their store than in other stores. It doesn't seem logical in terms of profit because people would prefer to pay less in other stores since they have the same guarantees. The other stores are obviously selling cheaper, but with their own profit built into the final price, this means that Apple will receive even less money for these products sold in other stores.
It's pretty simple. The price in other stores is the "real" one and what they take on direct sales is a bonus from people who don't care about the price.
In the end they are re-manufacturing items, or 'discounting' old stock, and selling it around 'retail' - 10 to 15% for new. Can't complain because they are essentially recycling and reducing waste, and charging for a 'new' item. You absolutely know what you are getting, which can't be said for many refurbished routes.
Bought an iPad Pro, Macbook (yes the 12") and a Macbook Air from the refurb over the years. If you pick and choose AND it hits your requirements AND you actually pay attention to whatever else is on sale elsewhere, then you are going to win. Full warranty and able to get the applecare on top of it if you want. It is *not* like buying a refurb from somewhere else. Oh. And if the price goes down within 14 days of you buying it you can get the difference refunded. (Did that with my Macbook Air)
I mean it's straightforward, if you need a specific "like new" product immediately, buy refurbished, it's cheaper than the new one. If you don't need it now, wait for a sale.
My god I can't believe they are reselling these for so much, only Apple could get away with selling refurbished products for more than brand new, insane.
I’ve purchased refurbished Mac/ipad/iPhone from Apple. If you do your homework on price you CAN save money on their refurbished store items. I’ve never gotten a product from them that was refurbished that didn’t look brand new.
It gets worse when you realize Apple probably bought these items for practically nothing - and is selling them for basically the same price as brand new
Literally the reason why the price are so high is because they're replacing the batteries and shells. If they didn't do that then I guarantee they'd be lower prices.
Exactly, any refurbished product I’ve ever bought has been dusty, missing a part, scratches and etc. Also they’re using the most obscure ways to pay for an item. DoorDash for an Apple product, no
Apple has quality standards and don't want to sell something from their store at such a lower quality than brand new looking. It's how they can keep their image as the top tier tech company.
Apple refurbished will NEVER be cheaper than new on sale, because they can literally make and ship a new one cheaper than they can refurbish and ship a used one. It is about scale and who you have doing the work. If I were apple and I saw this, I might be tempted to just sell new devices as "refurbished", the margin could even be better than bulk sales to best buy or wherever.
I once bought a refurb MacBook Air back in 2020. Thought it was a good deal at the time because I saved almost $300 compared to brand new. Which, what I received was basically brand new condition.
They’re basically new. They come with the same warranty. You can get good deals on there on new products that aren’t on sale anywhere else yet. Higher end products also seem like a better deal
I bought an ACR iPad 11" M1 model last year and it's been so good. The fact that you can put AppleCare+ on a refurb'd model was the cherry on top. Definitely recommend if you don't mind not having the latest and greatest and wanna save a few quid!
Apple suck. Couldn’t fix my iPad, they wanted over £800 to replace it. Took it to a third party place, fixed it and only charged me £30. Apple is a rip off.
I did had a terrible experience with Apple refurbished. I bought 20 Macbook Pro's for school ( I am the IT coordinator there) and from the 20 Macbooks 11 weren't charging but the chargers were fine so we'll see how they can sort that out. But the devices themselves look brand new.
You guys are lucky to have best buy discounts and all that. Here in Spain you would almost never find a considerable discount for an apple product. Maybe a m1 MacBook air, but that’s it. Refurbished it’s a great option for us I believe
This is such a a lazy take - the majority of Apple products are priced similarly to their competition. Apple just doesn’t offer “entry level” products which means they can’t compete with products that are focused on affordability.
This is the least scammy refurb deal around. The products are immaculate unlike other refurbishers out there and you knew what the price was before you chose to buy. You as a buyer know exactly what you’re spending and that it will be perfect, before you get your cash out.
So I'm just going to throw a small nitpick here regarding the process. You don't go to Apple Certified refurbished to try to save money on something that you could get brand new. You go there for something hyper specific that you can't get brand new and the current price of said new item equivalent is outrageous. Example: My 14in Macbook M1 Pro w/ M1 Pro, 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD. When I was shopping I was looking right around when the M3 had dropped, and I was looking at the Pro line of silicon for my needs, let me say anything new that was equally equilvalent was about $500-$1000 more expensive. Additionally if you go to a certified refurbished dealer (such as Microcenter) you can snag an even better deal depending on the time of year. But I digress most ordinary people won't ever think they need to dodge the crazy money scheme on RAM & Storage Apple is making you pay on new mac's/macbook's lol. Still an entertaining video though.
Apple Refusbished is okay, when: - you have a Apple Gift card - when you want a last gen iPhone Pro - maybe when there is a decent spec last gen Mac with Education discount (mostly not the case now due to new Gen base spec being 16 GB RAM and last gen having 8GB RAM)
@@itsgrintastic3515 that’s not the case with everything in their refurbished section. My 16” MacBook pro for example was almost $500 cheaper than new, and even with the added 12 months of Apple Care was still cheaper than if I had bought it new without the Apple Care. This was also true with both of my iMacs, and both my iPad Pro and my daughters. Also in the case of the iPhone they weren’t comparing Apples to Apples were they. The 13 had more storage which like it or not comes at a premium price in iPhones. If you’re buying a refurbed iPhone 13 with 256GB of storage it’s likely that the storage benefits are more important than the 128GB iPhone 14 price. As for the iPad even they said they pretty much screwed up on the timing of the purchase.
What’s worse than the scalping price of refurbished products on Apple is that they give you a literal pittance for items you trade in. CEX eat your greedy heart out!
I've bought a few refurbished things in the past (iPad Pro, Apple Watch and a MacBook White in 2009). They still work, I never had any issues with them. If you are clever and you know the prices or just do a research before you purchase anything then you cannot go wrong. Currently the refurbished 11" M2 iPad Pro is $40 more expensive than the brand new 11" iPad Air with M2. They both have 1 year warranty (AppleCare is available) but the iPad Pro comes with better cameras, the Pro has better GPU and Pro Motion display. Apple will support both devices for probably the same amount of time. This is over $300 cheaper than the new M4 iPad. If you don't need the latest one you will be very happy with this for years! The M2 is a very capable little thing. The difference between these devices is $40. I would totally choose the refurbished iPad Pro over the iPad Air. If you know what you are looking for and use your brain you can get a good deal
@@SgtPeppers000 I disagree. You're buying directly from Apple, so 0% chance of getting scammed, for what is essentially a new device for a little bit off of retail. I honestly don't see the downside. I've purchased more than a few "Refurb - Like New" devices off of Amazon over the years, only for them to come in with scratches all over them. You don't have to worry about that buying from the source, Apple. I've also purchased a few refurbs directly from Apple just like Austin and can confirm.
What about taking things apart like if you ordered a MacBook pro with the fan, or Mac mini, or Mac studio? What is the condition of the internals, and especially that fan?
Their latest thing in the refurbished store for the phone is that they sell the ones with the most storage to get a high price tag it’s very unfortunate because it used to be great with tons of options on refurbished phones
I caught this video 44 seconds after it uploaded. So crazy to think that I managed to watch something this early. At the end of the day, do your research, and check your current _needs_ . You don't need Apple stuffs unless you are sure that you need an Apple product for whatever reasons. If you still need an Apple device, get refurbished.
I bought a 14” 16gb MacBook m1 Pro for $1400ish in June 2023 and I’ve been having an excellent experience, The MacBook came with perfect chasis and screen and original charger, A friend of mine went for a 16” in Amazon Renewed for a $1300 which was listed as excellent condition, but the MacBook came with some scratches and no original charger, For me it was a good deal considering I don’t live in the US and I had to ship over to Panama and I wanted the most secure purchase for the best price possible, I’ll definitely buy Apple refurbished again in the future

Smaller things
they put a new enclosure and battery so externally you are holding a brand new device

For those who want to know this my friend used to work as operations manager for one of the warehouse where these devices are packaged checked and shipped from he told me that 35% of the iPhones iPads watches AirPods are excess returned stock or immediately returned ones with manufacturer defects and the other 65 % are actually the old ones with extensive replacements and repairs so basically there is higher chances that you might just get a newer excess stock which was not sold (depending in the area you live in) at the refurbished prices in my area you can immediately get the pro models after they are discontinued from the line up I had ordered my 12 13 14 and 15 pros from here and the only I think used one I got is the 13 pro others were new never used iPhones at a significant cheaper prices ( prices and purchase power of individuals varies from regions areas and countries)

Cause they selling it to the cost of new one 😂
buts its more expensive than buying new with the same benifits?

@@1centimetrebrand loyalty people are truly stupid 😂

One very, very nice thing about the refurbished store. Specifically for Mac computers, you can get nice custom configurations without having to wait. I wanted 64 GB of RAM and 2 TB on an M1 max when those were a thing. The new store had the delivery date a month out, the refurbished store was $300 cheaper which isn’t much, but delivered the next day.
Do your research before you buy!
Why does the refurbished versions cost more than brand new
It depends on generation of device, configuration, storage, memory. Always 15% cheaper than new.
@@HoganHasSpoken yep, if you want 4k video recording and 512GB, that's a USD400 saving
It's a phone.
@@frankbacon1002Would not recommend
If you’re going to buy an apple product anyway I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t buy it from the refurbished section and save whatever money you can
New battery is the thing biggest bonus I think as it’s the main thing that goes on the newer phones

00:29 did someone say Gently Used?

15% is a joke.
Not if the product is the same as an new one
It really does depend on what you buy and check carefully about the pricing. I bought my wife and myself new iPads a while back. They were absolutely more than 15% less than I could buy them anywhere else and were only a few months old as it was just after the new models came out.

If Apple refurbished put too big a discount on their devices it would undercut their distribution partners. And that would piss off a lot of MBAs. The Apple refurbished store basically serves as a pr tool to show how eco friendly they are
Here’s an Apple intelligence summary of this Apple video:
Apple Refurbished offers high-quality, gently used tech with genuine replacement parts and a new battery for iOS devices.

You never told us the battery health on the Apple Watch SE!
Remember Sun TV and Fretter? This is what got them bankrupt. Price gouging is a nonstandard marketing technique that is rare for a reason.
I mean what was he expecting? It’s Apple. They never discount prices during a product life time. Thought it was pretty common knowledge it’s better to go third party unless buying a brand new launched product
If someone opens a price and don’t like the color for the product, since it’s opened it goes straight to apple refurbished, just to get repackaged

Refurbished iPhone 13 - *$699*
Brand New iPhone 16 - *$799*
Yeah, I'd say the refurbished store is a scam.
Bro you really want this mac pro😂
If you don't need it now, wait for a sale.
refurbished pricing is what it should be. regular/retail pricing is how top tier employees get their bonuses
My god I can't believe they are reselling these for so much, only Apple could get away with selling refurbished products for more than brand new, insane.
Go ahead and buy a $1000 device from DoorDash
They aren't, if you want to buy from Apple you can't get these products cheaper new. Refurbished is an option to buy from Apple cheaper, nothing more.
I’ve purchased refurbished Mac/ipad/iPhone from Apple. If you do your homework on price you CAN save money on their refurbished store items. I’ve never gotten a product from them that was refurbished that didn’t look brand new.
It gets worse when you realize Apple probably bought these items for practically nothing - and is selling them for basically the same price as brand new
bought a 16 inch macbook pro m1 pro with 16gb of ram and was sent one with 32gb of ram for only 1000$ and it's literally brand new
Literally the reason why the price are so high is because they're replacing the batteries and shells. If they didn't do that then I guarantee they'd be lower prices.
Exactly, any refurbished product I’ve ever bought has been dusty, missing a part, scratches and etc. Also they’re using the most obscure ways to pay for an item. DoorDash for an Apple product, no
If they replaced the battery, shell, and priced it close to or at new, then why not just buy a new product to begin with.
Are they replacing them?
Apple has quality standards and don't want to sell something from their store at such a lower quality than brand new looking. It's how they can keep their image as the top tier tech company.
Apple refurbished will NEVER be cheaper than new on sale, because they can literally make and ship a new one cheaper than they can refurbish and ship a used one. It is about scale and who you have doing the work.
If I were apple and I saw this, I might be tempted to just sell new devices as "refurbished", the margin could even be better than bulk sales to best buy or wherever.

That watch looks perfectly fine on your wrist. For some reason, society has normalized absurdly large watches, and now perception skews that way.

This was also true with both of my iMacs, and both my iPad Pro and my daughters. Also in the case of the iPhone they weren’t comparing Apples to Apples were they. The 13 had more storage which like it or not comes at a premium price in iPhones. They both have 1 year warranty (AppleCare is available) but the iPad Pro comes with better cameras, the Pro has better GPU and Pro Motion display. What about taking things apart like if you ordered a MacBook pro with the fan, or Mac mini, or Mac studio? What is the condition of the internals, and especially that fan?
Apple in itself is one

Their latest thing in the refurbished store for the phone is that they sell the ones with the most storage to get a high price tag it’s very unfortunate because it used to be great with tons of options on refurbished phones
I caught this video 44 seconds after it uploaded. So crazy to think that I managed to watch something this early.
At the end of the day, do your research, and check your current _needs_ . You don't need Apple stuffs unless you are sure that you need an Apple product for whatever reasons. If you still need an Apple device, get refurbished.
I bought a 14” 16gb MacBook m1 Pro for $1400ish in June 2023 and I’ve been having an excellent experience,
The MacBook came with perfect chasis and screen and original charger,
A friend of mine went for a 16” in Amazon Renewed for a $1300 which was listed as excellent condition, but the MacBook came with some scratches and no original charger,
For me it was a good deal considering I don’t live in the US and I had to ship over to Panama and I wanted the most secure purchase for the best price possible,
I’ll definitely buy Apple refurbished again in the future
