Just selling stuff without bothering removing/unlinking the accounts from the devices is borderline criminal. In general this screams scam where they target random people surfing TikTok or whatever that think the Macbook they are buying for $300 is the same as the one Apple sells for $1000.
This is a HUGE issue with managed Apple devices. The companies wipe the device and sell it but forget to remove the remote management, whoever gets the device doesn't know it's a managed device unless they try to set up a new user. So resellers open it up turn it and see it's ready (supposedly) for a new user and then sell it. Then the person who bought it gets stuck with a brick because they don't have any way to remove it from a managed device system. The ONLY way to remove it is for the original owners that managed the device to go into their accounts and remove it as a managed device. As you can guess, most school IT and office IT departments aren't going to bother helping you with that. Especially since they can't confirm you bought it legit and aren't just trying to unlock one of their many computers to resell. They can't know if that one has been sold or not. Officially, they are supposed to remove any device they sell from their managed account before selling them, but they don't think of that when they wipe them.
@@CaseyDplays most school disttricts have to keep a log of what they surplus and what they sell, though - I know the one I work at keeps track for a year after it leaves our inventory. I’m sticking with eBay refurbished. Everything comes with a one-year warranty and prices seem to be competitive. I’ve bought multiple used phones and have never had an issue with them. You should do a video on that.
As someone who works in IT at a school, the only way to remove the managed setup from that device is to remove it from ASM, (Apple School Manager). To do that you would need the school district's IT department would need to remove it from their inventory.
The unboxed MacBook Air with school data raises concerns about Strictly Apple's device handling and data security. Failing to reset the AirPods Max is also concerning. Ideally, they should attempt to reunite the MacBook Air with the school. The unclear return policy with conflicting information adds to the red flags. These inconsistencies make me wary of doing business with Strictly Apple.
Around 0:10 into the video, he did watch the youtube shorts strictly apple made but here is a thing. The reason why the story was so sketchy is because its a way of an engagement for people. If you are telling a story and it doesn't even make any sense, its a way for people to buy it. Its just tiktok enshittification marketing.
The remote management part may not indicate it has been stolen. This normally happens when schools get rid of old supply to refurbishers. The admins often forget to manually exclude those devices.
14:34 Is it just me or are more and more places popping up trying to scam people that just want to score a gently used apple product? That price was horrible for an iphone 12 and it's condition was a terrible and selling you a macbook air that was still locked to a school is beyond sus to me. They are clearly not doing any sort of QA. They barely cleaned it (look at the magsafe port, I've seen ear canals cleaner than that).
The lock buttons were in different postions between the SA one that didn't open and the one you had that did open... Look at 24:05, you can see both buttons as the second one is opened.
the clip where he was trying to open it the mac pro was in unlocked position. he must have just locked it when filming the clip with the other machine.
There's a very good reason to target "strictly" Apple products when selling over priced and obsolete equipment while still asking for a tip and using shady marketing.
That second laptop is probably mdm locked too, and they just blocked Apple's servers in the hosts file to prevent that screen from appearing. Until you reformat and try to reinstall, then you'll get that screen again.
I paid $430 for open box AirPods Max from Best Buy in February 2021, 3 months after AirPods Max were released. New ones are on sale for $450 on occasion, more often down to $500
As a relatively small business owner that deals with the public, people LOVE to tell you their life story, especially when you ask them a simple question which can be answered with maybe 4 words at the most. Instead they'll talk for a minute straight without ever actually answering your question. It's insane.
I have a 9th gen iPad and for less than the price of the Strictly Apple refurbed one, you can get a new iPad 9 with 256GB if you really want it on sale. Seeing those AirPods Max in that shape with that price was incredibly sad. Again, you can find new ones on sale for less than the price of the refurbed one. I never seen headphones that bad in shape and I daily headphones for half my life.
25:50 - Graphics glitch is definitely an OpenCore problem (I use OpenCore a ton, working on the ultimate 2010 iMac build right now) because the graphics card might not have supported drivers so it uses "hacked" drivers. But kinda hilarious that it's SO BAD now, when it was a great Mac in 2013! 😂
They changed their return policy to 14 Days and updated their site to actually make then language consistent. 14 days with 20% restock for refund or no restock for store credit.
Hey Austin I think you team even failed to mention @ 7:19 that the iPad is legit $250 at Target then been on and off sale at $250 for about a year now, so who will stop them to just buy it from Target or Amazon at $250 then resell it for $$310…
I used to work at a big repair and refurbished company and that phone is a C grade. The lowest we had was D, which meant it was mostly for parts. Descending quality from grade A, B, C, D. Grade A was basically a new phone.
That MacBook probably wasn't stolen. The school was probably too lazy to unenroll it before they sent it off to recycling and then made it to the store that sold it to you.
10:41 I have experienced this before. Good news is that it's easily fixable, and it's not ENTIRELY sketchy. So, Strictly Apple is a reseller of old computers from Pasco County Schools. I am typing this on an old 2013 iMac, that had the same thing with Chicago Public Schools. I bought it from a shop out in the Chicago Suburbs. I just had to call CPS, get in touch with their tech support, and they removed the Remote Management. Kind of a hassle, but it wasn't difficult.
A lot of these tech places get large quantities of laptops from e-waste facilities. The e-waste facilities receive old laptops in lots from schools to be "recycled" but get sold for profit. Sometimes these places when setting up and cleaning the device forget to remove the school lock. The schools have a password for all the laptops to keep kids out of certain areas such as BIOS or certain websites.
14:06 funny story, I actually recovered an iPhone from the side of a freeway after it had been left on the roof of my car. I remember hearing a bump at some point on the freeway, and I thought it was a rock or something small and didn’t much of it, but later I get a call from the person who’s phone it was, and I check their location and it shows up in the middle of the freeway. I immediately connected the dots and let them know, I went and picked up the phone, which had thankfully been pushed onto the shoulder, next to a divider wall so I was able to pull off and grab it. It was an 11 pro max, we replaced the screen and it still worked. Enough to move data off it anyways lol, the back was destroyed.
I think they may have a physical location, which is how their refunds process works. If you had read it further it says "No refunds or returns on ONLINE purchased items." Not defending them but it clears that up that they MAY do returns if you bought it from them in person.
If the MacBook is MDM locked then most likely is was stolen. I know as I managed laptops with an MDM. We remove it before it is sold. But also that is really bad on Strictly Apple showing they don’t inspect products
It says on devices purchased from their ONLINE store. Seems they have a physical location in Ohio. So fair enough or they'd probabaly be getting dodgy buyers abusing it.

@@KontrolStyle i get what ur saying but its not necessarily a youtube thing its more like a business thing and sadly it works most of the time. I also really wouldn't say linus tech tips i really doing anything bad because there are only so many ideas you can do when you base your channel on a singular subject
I like how the VO for strictly Apple is basically Austin‘s voice in a slightly higher pitch. It’s really funny at the beginning when they’re both talking and you can barely tell who’s who
I can’t un-hear it now.
A teacher I work with still uses her 15 Mac book air. It's a little slow now but still works
Most people I know still use their 2010-2013 MB Pros. I just upgraded to a 2015 because I needed Monterey. 2016-2020 intel Macs really don't have any advantages over older ones.
I have a 2015 Mac book air my screen went out but I just bought a monitor and it’s perfect ally fine
So, the story they used for the tiktok story is not even their story, they copied a video from plug tech. It is a 1 to 1 replica of the original video that they recreated. The fact that they have to lie about sales says alot.
Nope, I know the owner and have been to his warehouse. Stop spewing nonsense the only one copying is plug tech who is using the name that Landon Mooney aka owner of strictly Apple has built. They’re outpaying them on google seo therefore becoming the first result when strictly Apple is searched
Strictly Apple probably buys MacBooks in lots from school districts.
4:00 is the tip refundable?
love your content love when you do mystery tech, remember the eye humidifier💀💀💀 that was amazing. keep coming with the great content. this is how you know tipping is getting out of hand, when a website asks for a tip after selecting what you want to buy at a refurbished tech place💀💀💀

I’m sticking with eBay refurbished. Everything comes with a one-year warranty and prices seem to be competitive. I’ve bought multiple used phones and have never had an issue with them. You should do a video on that.
Thanks for editing Rio!!!
That’s actually pretty cool the Mac Pro was used to edit Daredevil
Something is off about that to me. Showtime Networks has no link to Daredevil I'm aware of.
the fact they called the 2013 mac pro the "trash can" is just insane
To be fair it looks like one
As someone who works in IT at a school, the only way to remove the managed setup from that device is to remove it from ASM, (Apple School Manager). To do that you would need the school district's IT department would need to remove it from their inventory.
Using a Windows computer to browse StrictlyApple takes balls
best i can say is try washing the ear cups via dishwasher then use rubbing alcohol with cuetip to deal with the ear wax.
The school system would have surplus'd the laptop, I'm sure they don't want it back.
FINALLY, someone did a HONEST review. I keep searching, and I can't find a single one until now.
This was the first time he actually got scammed
Not exactly.
The return policy is correct. It is saying we accept returns for "in-store". They later say it doesn't include "online".
It's surprisingly easy to remove MDM profiles. Apple actually has a guide on how to do it. You can remove them form system restore file system.
I didnt even know toxic waste was still a thing... I used to have those in school in the UK (20 years ago)
How!?, It’s still eaten all the time by youngers
You should've called up that school district and ask them if they're missing a MacBook Air 11" and what the excuse was for its absense.
Secretly Apple reselling all their “Damaged” products 🍎
My local Walmart has a refurbished section and I bought an iPad just like the one Austin bought for $214.99 and it’s like new.
That piece of candy bought had Austin on the hook for days. They just needed one other thing to go right
That second laptop is probably mdm locked too, and they just blocked Apple's servers in the hosts file to prevent that screen from appearing. Until you reformat and try to reinstall, then you'll get that screen again.
Dude said tide pods taste better when cleaning the headphones 💀
I paid $430 for open box AirPods Max from Best Buy in February 2021, 3 months after AirPods Max were released. New ones are on sale for $450 on occasion, more often down to $500
ah yes, I love myself a -$50 price drop
These videos are always entertaining
As a relatively small business owner that deals with the public, people LOVE to tell you their life story, especially when you ask them a simple question which can be answered with maybe 4 words at the most. Instead they'll talk for a minute straight without ever actually answering your question. It's insane.
The label that said "121gb" was technically correct because that's what it reads on the computer 😂
Hey guys, this is scam!
Yes but it's Austin Evans so we already know his scam 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I had to
@@TheCraftySmith89 huh
Not the Stinkpods 9000 😭😭😭 they’re currently on sale on Best Buy and Amazon for $449
“Who would poison Pierre Luigi??”
1:10 cause you’re using bing
I work for ATT and you can literally buy a brand new iPhone 12 outright at ATT for $40 more than that banged up thing.
They changed their return policy to 14 Days and updated their site to actually make then language consistent. 14 days with 20% restock for refund or no restock for store credit.
4:44
I just imagined Austin saying, "It's me" to the UPS driver with his glass shattering voice 😂
By the way, has he hit puberty yet?
19:14 "and taste way better" lmaooo
Austin’s reaction to pairing the AirPods Max(Pro) reminded me of Eric Cartman
Hey Austin I think you team even failed to mention @ 7:19 that the iPad is legit $250 at Target then been on and off sale at $250 for about a year now, so who will stop them to just buy it from Target or Amazon at $250 then resell it for $$310…
Never mind 💀 7:57 I’ll shut up now
I used to work at a big repair and refurbished company and that phone is a C grade. The lowest we had was D, which meant it was mostly for parts. Descending quality from grade A, B, C, D.
Grade A was basically a new phone.
Unfortunately i have to do my homework
get to work bro 🫡
That MacBook probably wasn't stolen. The school was probably too lazy to unenroll it before they sent it off to recycling and then made it to the store that sold it to you.
I miss the old intro
Austin left the Mac Pro on lock when he tried to open it.
It’s a nice looking site, but behind scenes is just a pawnshop.
8:08 used isn’t the worst they have, used and clearance are different, clearance is worse then used, so this MacBook is the 2nd worst
Man you look like my friend
I am your friend
I am also your friend
I wish i had friends😢
@@venemaatjesNLi could be

10:41 I have experienced this before. Good news is that it's easily fixable, and it's not ENTIRELY sketchy. So, Strictly Apple is a reseller of old computers from Pasco County Schools. I am typing this on an old 2013 iMac, that had the same thing with Chicago Public Schools. I bought it from a shop out in the Chicago Suburbs. I just had to call CPS, get in touch with their tech support, and they removed the Remote Management. Kind of a hassle, but it wasn't difficult.
Austin mannn you had a bad day that day. You flipped the switch to locked on the mac pro
not me acting like a kid on Christmas when austin posts
For every like I get I'll do 1 push-up
A lot of these tech places get large quantities of laptops from e-waste facilities. The e-waste facilities receive old laptops in lots from schools to be "recycled" but get sold for profit. Sometimes these places when setting up and cleaning the device forget to remove the school lock. The schools have a password for all the laptops to keep kids out of certain areas such as BIOS or certain websites.
Strictly Apple: And Mr. Luigi, since your order got picked to be filmed, we're throwing in some candy!
They include it with every order. I know the owner
They could have put a USB in it and it when you log in they steal all of your information
