SATISFYING Rescue and Propagation Begonia Maculata 'wightii' | How to get their red backs!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 лис 2024
- The Begonia maculata wightii is a quintessential houseplant, offering a pop of color to indoor and outdoor growing spaces and teaching valuable plant care lessons for all levels of plant parents. It is also considered to be a gateway Begonia. In this episode, I rescue a sad looking plant into many healthy and happy babies by propagation. I also discuss a theory about their red undersides, and attempt to bring them back. As usual, I show satisfying updates at the end of the episode!

Man, the patience you have to show the full growth over time.. amazing work. Much appreciated
Thank you ❤️❤️
I love propigation videos with lots of updates. Thank you for taking the time to make them. But you should do whatever makes you happy 😊
Thank youuu. Let me rethink that!
Noooo but I like your propagation videos! The journey and outcomes in weeks and months are worth itt. The chat that comes with it are a bonus too! Lol
Yes, true, I also prefer the long version as well :))
Whoaaa let me rethink this!
I loooove your long form prop videos! You have taught me so much about propagation and helped me be brave when cutting up plants to make more. Thank you.
Thank you ❤️
I really enjoy these types of videos with the multi week updates included. Nice to see progress without viewers having to wait the time to see.
Thank you ❤️
It's uniquely, Sean's style of propagation videos we all love.
Just going back to make sure i liked and commented on all your videos. I know it helps the algorithm and i want you to be a success
It helps LOADS. Thank you ❤️❤️ not many people take the time to do this
Hi. I think your plant room gets more light than you think. The begonias don't lie!
😀
Thank you for making a propagation video WITH UPDATES. :)
Yayee
This gives me confidence to propegate my begonia. Mine is now 1meter tall but I didnt dare to cut so far. Growing too big now! Thanks for the information!
😀😀
Good vid Sean. Glad the red is slowly coming back. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you ❤️
This was a wonderful video about Begonias! The first link I clicked on to prop a begonia and fortunately I picked this one and you did not disappoint and explained everything very well. Thank you!
You’re most welcome
This was the most satisfying video I’ve seen in awhile!!!! Amazing info! Great job!
❤️❤️
I love the all the updates and the time you take to put these awesome videos up!!! 👏
Thank you ❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing beautiful and amazing plants lovely collection beautiful hi I love watching your video have a happy holiday
Thank you. Happy Holidays to you too!
I bought one of these and it kept getting pests but after many rounds of pesticide treatments and 9 months later it is finally growing. I’m in US in a very dry state and I must keep the soil moist as the leaf tips dry out. I have had very difficult time propagating these also. Water here just isn’t working so next time I will put them in dirt in a ziploc baggie
Whoaaa we have different struggles with this plant, i tend to overwater here
Yay, the red is back! Hehe
I haven't had much time to do propagations lately, so I've been a lot less nitpicky when I do get around to it. A couple months ago my cane begonias have been flopping over, so I decided to make time to propagate them. All I had a couple of minutes since I didn't want to have to put if off again, so I just mindlessly chopped them off and stuck them into the surrounding pots. They all made it. Haha
😀😀
Good luck getting their red back back😝😝 I just made 2 cuttings of my Maculata 3 days ago, coincidence haha
Im almost there! 😀 one more chop and a few more months and I should be good
I like your long videos best 👍😀🇨🇦 They give me time to relax
Thank you. Ill consider making more 😀
I love these type of videos!!
Thank youuu. Be sure to catch the old ones. I used to do a lot of them!
@@onlyplants yes I’m binge watching them and learning a lot. 😊
Noooo! I love your waffly long and update ones!
Ill try to mix them in 😀😀
Great video Sean. I hope you are doing well.😊
Doing ok here. Hope you are well too 😀
wow, so lovely begonia!
Thank you ❤️
I love your rescue and propagation videos. I learn so much! On a side note, what is that velvety plant on the right side of the screen? Is it a gloriosum? It's beautiful.
That is a glorious. A hybrid between gloriosum and melanochrysum. Im actually propagating it for a video. Hence it is looking terrible 😅
I love your videos. I hope you don't go to shorts. I don't like shorts.
Thank you. I might… do both formats. UA-cam is really pushing us content creators to expand our contents to wider audience. Its actually very time consuming but I learn so much 😀
👍

Thank you
Ive had a Maculata for the last year and a half that refuses to grow. Not dying, almost the same size as when I got it but it does have a couple splits on the leaves, and the leaves just seem to get smaller. I fetilize, and water once a week Ive tried everything I know to do, changed locations at least 5 times just to get the light conditions right. But its still in its 4 inch pot, and no root growth coming out of the bottom. Do you have any suggestions? Water propigation is my next move
I would propagate and start over. I have a feeling the root health is not so good on the one you have. Its possible that moving it around stress it out. But they propagate so well, you should have new and strong plants in no time
@@onlyplants Thanks for the info
My maculata was heading south rapidly. I tried to make leaf cuttings, but all died. Now it has launched a feverish spurt of growth, and I'm letting it go wherever it wants to go. It isn't a foot tall .LMAO!
😅😅
Hi my bigonia is losing her leaves by getting dry and crispy.and also getting black dots on the back of the leaves. Can you please help me to make my plant happy as it was before. Thanks
Try propagating and starting over if you can. Water propagation might be best in your case. You can spray some neem oil with soapy water in case theres existing infection.
Is this a begonia maculata wightii ? My plant have another leafes and bigger dots on them.
Yes it is 😀
Which pink leaved plant is that in the background, Sean?
I believe that is the syngonium pink perfection
Ah, I see. Must be morning with you. 2.48am here lol@@onlyplants
That's not Begonia maculata. Some type of cane begonia 'Angel Wing' hybrid for sure
How funny would it be to see a Sasquatch in the tents when you opened them up all chill
Like… would seem this site has been a cold file for a bit now. My theory is since all the visits and noise/human habituation, may have scared the subjects away from the area. Makes sense in the start of their construction of the site to have the creatures come to visit as we encroach on their territories much like deer in the new “suburbs” that may have thus pushed them out of the area. Lord know if I had a backyard like this my arse would move away from a bunch of annoying neighbors too.
I live in the desert of the USA and have one for about 2 years now. How would you prevent the leaves crisping and falling off. It’s a drama queen imo
Also love your happy demeanor and your love of plants
My begonia maculata is not growing much. It’s stay as same size last 2,3years. I wonder why…blooming though.
Maybe its reached a maximum size…
lol I keep propagating without a plan. You just gotta laugh 😅
😅😅 that should be the name of this channel.
I wish I were your neighbour. 😆
🙈🙈
❤️❤️
can you make a video about begonia firework my leaves burned very hard 🥲🥲
Wooh I dont think I own that one
