Not to defend Chauvin but how was Floyd able to lift Chauvin with his neck for a brief moment. That is a strong neck. If you pay really close attention you can also see that Chauvin's right knee was also grounded or pinning down Floyd's LEFT arm. That to me would conclude that Chauvin's entire body weight was NOT on Floyd's neck. As too how much weight was on Floyd's neck only Chauvin would know..

Greg Demeter not really. It was the civilian population that was brought into the concentration camps to bury the dead. The local towns knew what was going on but did nothing (not that there was anything they could do), so the liberators forced them to clear it up.
Nazi’s were not summarily shot. Most Germans were members of the nazi party because it was the only way to stay in a career, even a completely civilian one. It was made clear, if you aren’t in the party, you aren’t going to stay. Even the SS were mainly imprisoned. You had to be proven to have done something absolutely heinous to get the death sentence. Even at Nuremberg, some were acquitted, some imprisoned, some got death. Stalin wanted to summarily execute all German officers and Churchill told him that he would rather be taken out to the courtyard and shot himself that execute men who’s crime was fighting for their country.
I’m sure some soldiers took part in rough justice as has always happened. But you break the Geneva conventions at your peril.

Although there is a big public push for 2nd degree murder charge, there is a very real possibility that he may be found innocent of 2nd degree murder once the full autopsy and toxicology reports are presented to the court. If I'm not mistaken, a person can't be retried or convicted for a lesser crime than the original crime that they were charged with. So this 2nd degree charge may just be the cops ticket to freedom. The smart move would have been to charge him and got the conviction for a lesser charge, then after being found guilty, the higher level charges could have been laid.

it as 9 minutes and a knee to the neck isn't the same as being literally choked for 9 minutes. His underlying health conditions (the fact he did meth, cocaine, and weed at the same time, and was high on meth during the scene, hence the main reason the clerk called the cops) I guarantee you that anyone who's health wasn't as horrible as his would have survived. I don't understand why the officer didn't release once he lost consciousness, since the purpose of chokehold is to knock someone out, but his death definitely is accidental as normal people can't die from just that. Frankly, I think he would have died that day regardless because considering how high he was, he probably would have crashed his car.

Not only were the police not telling him to get up and get into the vehicle, they were clearly holding him down until an ambulance can arrive. Why, I do not know for sure, but it seems as if George Floyd was experiencing medical distress. Perhaps it was the fentanyl in his system. Look at the video where they had him stand up - he is yelling. Look at the video where he falls down instead of getting into the vehicle. Look at the fact that they had him inside of the vehicle and they then are all outside on the ground. At this point there was no effort made to get him inside the vehicle, rather it was to control him while waiting medical response. If the ambulance had arrived sooner, the actions taken to hold him down would not have gone on so long. Perhaps he would not have died. In 2010 Minneapolis police caused the death of David Smith while kneeling on his back for 4 minutes causing asphyxia. It is called 'prone restraint death.'
Since 1995 Minneapolis PD was warned by the Dept of Justice that as soon as suspects are handcuffed, they must get the suspect into a position, off their chest, so he/she can breathe.
I believe it was the combination of the prone restraint position, pressure on the chest, pressure & restraint of neck that caused Floyd's death... and Chauvin being a senior officer would have known these tactics are deadly. He already had Floyd handcuffed, so these restraint maneuvers may not have been necessary.
It would also be worthwhile assessing Chauvin's mental status.
