Ok Americans, serious question here from a European neighbour. How the F*** could anyone watch this debate and think that Trump 'won' or still be undecided???? this is a serious question. I watched the whole thing and he sounded completely bananas . Kamala Harris was clearly eloquent, displayed strategic thinking, intelligence and grit - she spoke to voters and discussed things like healthcare and the economy. Trump seemed to scream endlessly, rant about pets being eaten, conspiracy, weird ideas about abortion after birth, support dictators ...etc. So again ... how can you still vote for him or be undecided???? I just can't wrap my head around it? I can't!

I think it’s clear he lost the debate, however, the debate is more nuanced than that. We Americans expect results, not just words. Everyone knows we will get nowhere with Kamala just as we did with Joe Biden. Her candidate caves under pressure and thrives on ego. The veteran ... no president, Democrat or Republican, in the past thirteen years had the guts to get us out of Afghanistan because whoever did it knew there was no way to do it without great loss and they knew it would tarnish their legacy and their reputation but IT HAD TO BE DONE. Why we're discussing Biden during this is beyond me but he had the balls to do it and, as tragic as it was, it is a miracle we only lost thirteen. A veteran should know such things.
The WAY we pulled out of Afghanistan was set up by Trump. Biden's only 2 options were: Go ahead & do it, OR send more troops in before withdrawing because Trump had already drawn them down to the point where they could no longer maintain a safe perimeter around JUST KABUL against all the Taliban fighters TRUMP HAD JUST RELEASED. Had Biden used the second option, there would have been more casualties anyway. Retreats under fire are always difficult (so I'm told); Trump did what he could to make it worse before leaving office.

I can understand the gentleman's feelings about the Afghanistan withdrawal, but he's not acknowledging the entire picture. Trump admin: 1) excluded Afghan govt from the negotiations 2) agreed to release 5,000 taliban warriors 3)Set the date for a final withdrawal 4)rapidly reduced US troops from 13,000 to 2,500 5)Weapons left behind had been given to Afghan govt, and the US has never been good at figuring out where all the weapons are when we leave a country. Yes Biden had the final say, but at that point the die had been cast and other than reversing all the previous decisions he honored what had been agreed to. (unlike Trump who pulled out of the Iran nuclear deal)
