Dr. Tobin is explaining 3D diagrams, graphs, giving demonstrations, getting the jury to participate, and even made the jury laugh. He did not come to play.
He is using gimmicks to try and make his case as well as basing his whole analysis on a guess at Floyd’s respiratory rate . I tell you what , if you think that is an acceptable way to diagnose a problem then the next time you are feeling really sick just make a video of yourself and email it to your doctor and see if he can diagnose your problem.
I'm a practicing physician. This day, this video clip, and this witness, is what I have been waiting for since this trial started. My brilliant colleague here is ABSOLUTELY right. Opioid overdose kills by suppressing the Respiratory Centers in the Brainstem: 2 in the Medulla, 1 in the Pons. They function reflexly to maintain optimum respiration. He counted 7 breaths in 17 secs, that approximates to 25 breaths per minute... this is known as Tachypnea--- increased rate of breathing. For comparison, a healthy adult in a relaxed state, has a respiratory rate of 12 - 20 per minute. More importantly, a person that has overdosed on opioids and is about to die, will have an even lower respiratory rate in the neighbourhood of 6-10 breaths per minute. Thank God someone brought this to light, now I can sleep soundly.
Tnx for explaining it again for the ones who think they know better then this Doc just (visually) explained.. Its unbelievable that tstill so many people say it was an overdose..

And I understand completely the African American Community that caused me a great deal of trouble. Don't make a big deal about getting no pay. People have various goals and agendas. What I find odd is all of this pity for Floyd considering how he endangered the community with his Covid-19 infection, his past criminal background, and his purchase of drugs like Fentanyl that helps to endanger the whole community. I'm sure you'll hear other contradictory testimony when the Defense brings their witnesses and experts into the court room. This ongoing pity for Floyd makes me sick. If you want to pity some one, reserve it for former police woman Amber Guyger who was convicted of first degree murder in Dallas, Texas for accidentally killing a Black upstairs neighbor. But Texas paid for its indiscretion with fires, tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, Covid-19, and a cold wave that crippled their power system. God punishes through changes in the environment. This disciplined wizard from God, sent with precision to the jury and to the world, spoke to a microscopic view of the body's response during the murder of George Floyd; his last moments. The simplicity in his words....'breathing, shallow breaths, low oxygen, pump handle' brought up an outburst of tears and a huge sigh of relief to have a wizard on the witness stand. As a registered hospital nurse of 35 years, I deeply appreciate his infinite wisdom, integrity and compassion. RIP George Floyd.
I agree too @Rae Cook,I saw all 4 police Officer's conspire to kill Mr G Floyd,Dr Tobin explaining how they caused brain death 1st in Mr Floyd, then the heart is unable to pump blood to the heart,(the brain controls the breathing centres to the heart) ,if no blood is being pumped to the brain because of extreme pressure into Mr Floyd's back and putting all their weight on someones back and ramming Mr Floyd's body onto a hard surface ,which there is no give!(everyone's chest is also a around the back) Dr Tobin explained marvelously and simplified it for the jury .The 1st time I saw this video I saw Chauvin got very comfortable for himself on Mr Floyd's back and neck and put his hands in his pockets and his left foot off the street surface and actually leaning with all his weight forward more on Mr Floyd's back and neck,I was upset the 1st time I saw this video, as I saw at the same time as Dr Tobin explained when Mr Floyd died , of my many years as a trained nurse and through experience and observing what the facial expressions are at the time of death look like,I saw this happen on Mr Floyd's face, then to watch it again yesterday I was very upset and distressed. But the most terrible thing for me to watch also was when Mr Floyd's dead body was dragged onto the stretcher in such an undignified way!,for me all the officer's in this case it was premeditated murder all for a counterfeit $20 note.
@@hareecionelson5875 Can someone explain how according to the doctor George is trapped in a vice that prevents normal chest expansion and thus breathing but has a normal respiratory rate please, according to the doctor Floyd had normal breathing yet he died from suffocation and no ability to breathe normally, these 2 things cannot exist in the same time according to the evidence and the doctors testimony, he said it him self that his breathing wasn't affected by fentonyl and if it was affected his breathing rate would be less than 10 breaths per minute. Given the fact George was trapped between a vice of the ground and the cops then his chest shouldn't be able to expand and his breathing should be erratic and I'm no expert but pretty sure his breathing rate would increase to compensate for lack of oxygen to double or triple the normal rate and would jump from 12-22 to 36-66 breaths per minute as a result of his chest and lungs being unable to expand as far as needed, therefor needing shorting breaths to compensate for the lack of oxygen. How is it that George's ability to breathe has been compromised in such a specific way that would result in a higher breath rate yet his breath rate is normal as if his breathing ability has not been compromised? pretty sure you can't be a little pregnant or wet and dry in the same time. Also there is the matter of subduing subjects in this manner that has been done hundreds of thousands of thousands of times if not millions in the past 20 year period with no fatalities or injuries, 237 in 2020 from Jan-Jun in Minneapolis according to police stats. So if this restraint technique was so dangerous and deadly you shouldn't we be seeing people dropping like flies?, yet that is not so. I simulated this with my friends and was able to breathe for over 3 hours of them being on my back while I was handcuffed, I had no bruising and did not suffocate and breathing was a bit less easy but my breath rate did not increase. Steven Crowder just simulated this on his show and he did not suffocate, you can see it in this videos TITLED --- "KNEE ON NECK: Crowder Tests The Theory LIVE! | Louder with Crowder" --- and --- "LIVE: Crowder Recreates George Floyd Arrest... | Louder With Crowder So Why didn't I or Steven Crowder lose consciousness or were suffocated due to the same restraint? and why weren't people dropping like flies in the past 20 years as they should have been due to this deadly and dangerous restraint?
I didn’t hear a peep about meth also being in his system during this examination, which would certainly change the outcome of his diagnosis. Intentionally left out? I would consider also watching the cross examination 🧐
@UCnfgnLL-3INjgAb9n3qzPRw absolutely! And add in fentanyl and meth....way over for the fentanyl. But this doc measuring Floyd’s resp rate by a teeny reflection in the suv wheel as he lay down just is so quack science.
Why didn't his breathing rate change if he was suffocating? this doesn't make any sense, when you suffocate your oxygen intake increases which increases your heart rate drastically which then increases your breathing rate involuntarily, anyone can experiment this by holding their breath and pretty much everyone reading this has done that at least a few times in their lives, whether simulating or while swimming or having to avoid foul odors, anyone who has ever exercised or held their breath knows this is true because exercise creates the need for more oxygen, so does holding your breath and suffocation creates even a greater need for oxygen at a faster pace than working out hard. According to the doctor Floyd had normal a breathing rate on the outside, given the fact George was trapped between a vice of the ground and the cops then his chest shouldn't be able to expand and his breathing should be erratic as a result of that and the panic of lack of oxygen along with involuntary body affects and I'm no expert but pretty sure his breathing rate would increase to compensate for lack of oxygen to double or triple the normal rate and would jump from 12-22 to 36-66 breaths per minute as a result of his chest and lungs being unable to expand as far as needed, therefor needing shorting breaths to compensate for the lack of oxygen and if it doesn't change how can you determine if George is suffocating so how can the cops be at fault for monitoring him and see no change in breath rate or suffocation while following procedure by the book? How is it that George's ability to breathe has been compromised in such a specific way that would result in a higher breath rate yet his breath rate is normal as if his breathing ability has not been compromised? and if his breath rate is normal how can anyone determine he is suffocating if he is breathing for 5 minutes while restrained? pretty sure you can't be a little pregnant or wet and dry in the same time. Also there is the matter of subduing subjects in this exact manner of the knee on neck and back restraint that has been done hundreds of thousands of thousands of times if not millions in the past 20 year period with no fatalities or injuries, 237 in 2020 from Jan-Jun in Minneapolis according to police stats. So if this restraint technique was so dangerous and deadly shouldn't we be seeing people dropping like flies? yet that is not so, and why has it been used for decades or implemented to begin with if it's fatal? I simulated this restraint with my friends and was able to breathe for over 3 hours with 2 of them being on my back, 1 weights 210 pounds the other 194, while I was handcuffed, I had no bruising and did not suffocate and breathing was a bit less easy but my breath rate did not increase. Well, not really. It's a pretty weak argument. Tobin's argument was that Fentanyl wasn't causing a reduction in Floyd's RR. However, we know that severe stress and anxiety causes an _increase_ in someone's RR, like the stress and anxiety of being approached by the police while high and using counterfeit money. Therefore, it's certainly possible that the fentanyl _was_ causing causing his RR to drop, but the stress and anxiety was causing his RR to increase, thus offsetting each other, and making his RR appear normal. Also, this is compounded by the fact that Floyd was saying he couldn't breathe _before_ he was on the ground. Logically, if you have shortness of breath, it would cause you to have to breathe faster and faster to get more oxygen in, and thus increase your RR. Tobin really hasn't made a case that Fentanyl wasn't a factor.

This man was killed by officers over a possible 3rd degree felony... this level felony falls under forgery if in fact George even knew his money was fake. And if he was high I suppose he probably did not suspect that it might have been fake. These officers killed a man with low levels of drugs in his system over some fake money. 3rd degree felonies do not get death penalties. Let alone public execution style. This is a blatant homicide.

I'm happy that you call the respiratory Doctor a wizard, the lungs are underrated.

Yesss he had narcotics in him and underlying health deficiencies in him. But the fact of the matter is that he was functioning perfectly fine until the incident accused. This in essence without doubt boils down to the main cause of death being the interaction that occurred unjustly with the cops. The cops killed a man who would be still alive had they just listened to him and the people surrounding him. In situations like these you do not inforce the law with ego. You do the job and the job should not involve personal offense, ego, insults, nothing of a personal manner. That officer took the intire situation personal therfore exposing his own prejudice and intents... his intents was to first solidify a status of authority to George and the surrounding pedestrians that where also begging him to stop. He also intentionally escalated a situation that could have been better defused but because of his ego and power trip he had to solidify as will a stance to where he is the authority, the law and the judge... George is a grown a** man and he was detained... they could have let that man stand there and speak his peace... that what the Miranda rights are for. Although it may not be required to read to the suspect... if the suspect is trying to offer a explanation and or request a attorney the officer should listen. Boom 💥, there it is.
More stupid testimony! We need facts, not more speculation. Facts! Facts are that Floyd had 16.6 ng/ml of Fentanyl, 19 ng/mL of Meth, and other drugs in his system. In addition he had the Corona Virus along with a heart condition. One can only wonder why he had no medications for this heart condition in his system. Yes, and one can wonder why all 4 cops, two of them rookies, were fired. And one can only wonder why since 2012, 428 people were put in neck restraints in the City of Minneapolis. About 14% lost consciousness, and 2/3 were African Americans. And we can only wonder why the City of Minneapolis paid $27 million to the Floyd family before the trial even began. And we can only wonder why the onus was placed on Derek Chauvin alone -- so far.
@@rona657 these are facts. He is not speculating anything. He is a medical professional and telling you clear as day that he didn't die from fentanyl. You are ignoring the facts!!
@@Redbeardedbadass Facts? The facts are that the Floyd family is laughing all the way to the bank with their $27 million. On the other hand, policemen and detectives have to work with rigor for their pay. Am I to believe that Fentanyl played no part in Floyd's death as well as the other drugs in his system even though these illegal drugs make it difficult to breathe? Am I to believe that Covid-19 played no part in his death? And then there is Floyd's craziness during the arrest going from the sidewalk, through the police car, and into the street. Floyd was a danger to the public bystanders. Period! Chauvin did his job!

Please respect professionals like this man. Absolutely brilliant. Thank goodness for people who actually do their jobs properly.
Thank you Dr. Tobin. God bless you.
I personally think the DA has been doing an horrible job, until this Doctor hit it out the park
It may have been their strategy. Give the defense enough rope to hang themselves. I knew by how they were letting them get away with some theatrical stunts like edited video clips and choosing images that are too hard to even tell what’s going on in order to advance their ridiculous theory that they had something big up their sleeve. I knew it had to have been the medical evidence and testimonies and I’m so glad it’s going so well!
I thought the DA has done very well.
1. Establish the practical horror every random citizen saw on that day. Show it was clear to even untrained people that Floyd was dying. Also shows how not dangerous the crowd was, teen girls, a nine year old, an old man, an off duty firefighter, one young man.
2. Show how Chauvin broke multiple department policies, acted contrary to training and acted in an unreasonable way by having fellow officers all testify against him.
3. Show the medical/science behind the cause of death.

His voice is so calm in a good way, easy to listen to, I can listen to him for hours.
The police should of started CPR before the Ambulance even arrived... or let the firefighter perform CPR who was watching the Murder.
I am horrified that the ambulance personnel did not manage to ventilate him for another few minutes. It sounds like CPR was delayed for way too long. Current guidelines do not even recommend checking for a pulse: Resperatory arrest in itself, preclinically, is indication for CPR. And we know that after about 3-4 minutes without CPR, survival chances approach zero.
or just took his knee off x
@@NamelessBody the cops were actually a menacing presence hindering them and all their gear was in the rig ....they were not expecting the situation they found at the scene ,they did the best they could in the circumstances...all Chauvin's fault and the other cops did not do enough to stop it...i do feel sorry for the 1st week rookie who knew what should have been done bt was not listened to...could potentially become a good cop if not paired with dangerous ata*******s like this one

I understand this right? when we stop breathing we basically die because of mercury poisoning on our blood?
@@rageagainstthemachinez9z475 no, where did you get that from? millimeters of mercury is a unit of measurement used to measure blood pressure and several other measurements....people die from lack of oxygen in their blood, also called anoxia or hypoxia when they stop breathing...though not always in that order depending on what caused the breathing to stop...in Floyd's case the breathing stopped because he could not inflate his lugs with all that pressure on his neck and back which caused the low oxygen in his blood...the low oxygen in his blood then caused an "anoxic seizure" because the brain was dying from lack of oxygen. When a person dies of fentanyl poisoning they go into a coma and die very quietly because they are unconscious first... they do not shout out that they cannot breathe because they are not aware

Despite video evidence and expert testimony to the contrary. Despite the autopsy report.
@@veemon9280 then why was George saying he can't breathe way prior to be put on the floor. he was saying it when he was resisting being put in the car.
@jeffmatts2919 two things can be true at once.
Do people claim health difficulties to try to escape arrest ? Of course.
That's still not an excuse for negligent use of excessive force.
In other words...if a prisoner was in a hospital, claimed he couldn't breathe, and then the doctors and officers did nothing to help him...and he dies...they would still be culpable.
"He could be lying about his pain" is not an excuse to negligently use deadly force.
