"Just because someone stumbles, loses their way, doesn't mean they're lost forever." This line was so good they brought it back in Multiverse of Madness
I cheered in theatre when he said that in MoM. No one else did, I was really surprised because everyone was cheering for most everything else. That line always hits me in the feels.
One year before, I watched this scene and commented for the same reasons. Clinical depression and anxiety to the point that I was getting paranoid. I couldn’t live like this and I seriously thought I wouldn’t make it alive for the next few months. Today, I’m mentally stable, healthy and the happiest and strongest I’ve been for years. I’m really proud I made it and I’m able to look back one year ago and smile. For anyone who needs reading this: Stay strong. You will get better. It’s just a matter of time. It doesn’t last forever, but you have to work with yourself and take your recovery and healing journey seriously. Try to put yourself as your first priority. You deserve it. You can’t spill water from an empty flask, and if you can’t help yourself, you can’t help others. It’s not about being selfish, it’s a matter of survival and well being. Take care of yourself, you got this ❤️
This scene is a testament to how good Patrick Stewart is. He's almost monotone...yet he manages to make a standard obi-wan speech sound convincing. His cadence...his inflection...the subtle things he emphasizes, because the rest of it is so similar those little changes become so much bigger in comparison. Fuck I love Patrick Stewart.
"It's a lot to live up to, but it is you." For someone self-deprecating 24/7, living with self-doubt like it's oxygen... this hit home and it hit hard. I always look back on things I achieved or did, and deem them as trivial and unimportant. Looking at it from the other end tho, if my past self had seen my present self, and where I'm at right now, both mentally and physically, he wouldn't believe it.

“Just because someone stumbles and loses their path, doesn't mean they're lost forever” Who would have thought that in the year 2022 with Multiverse of Madness, that line would ever come back as emotional and perfect then ever. Glad we got to see Patrick one last time :>
“It’s the greatest gift we have. To bear their pain without breaking.” This makes me think of all of us who are facing generations and generations of pain. Healing patterns from our ancestors and stopping the cycle.
I like to think of that qoute from American History X "Has all the things you have done made your life better?". That's what Erik would say to himself.
Professor X: Charles. Charles Xavier: Charles. Charles Xavier: Is this what becomes of us? Erik was right. Humanity does this to us. Professor X: Not if we show them a better path. Charles Xavier: You still believe? Professor X: Just because someone stumbles and loses their path, doesn't mean they're lost forever. Sometimes, we all need a little help. Charles Xavier: I'm not the man I was. I open my mind up and it almost overwhelms me. Professor X: You're afraid. And Cerebro knows it. Charles Xavier: All those voices... so much PAIN. Professor X: It's not their pain you're afraid of. It's yours, Charles. And as frightening as it can be, that pain will make you stronger. If you allow yourself to feel it, embrace it, .it will make you more powerful than you ever imagined. It's the greatest gift we have: to bear their pain without breaking. And it comes from the most human part of us: hope. Charles, we need you to hope again.

Sad that Apocalypse was such a disappointment.
apocalypse wasn't as good as this one, I agree but it wasn't that bad imo, cause that's what apocalypse is, he's that general villain who wants to destroy the world mainly because he believes in survival of the fittest
This scene is my daily therapy. It's just different, brings a chill down my spine. The moment when there's a subtle crossfade of Charles looking at his students in just so pure, it just shows how optimistic he has become seeing all these good mutants around him.
what is truly sad but also deeply inspiring is that future Charles experienced all of that positivity, that optimism...only to have it taken away from him through unimaginable and violent acts of cruelty and hatred and despite all of that...he is urging his younger self to continue believing in that hope and that dream
This scene actually made me cry a little. Patrick Stewarts line delivery is so....personal and touching. They both did well. The words that are said applies to so much in life really. Patrick Stewarts mentor voice just enhances everything
Such a deep scene for those who has suffered a lot and felt hopeless to their bones, who has travelled to darkest place of their psyche and drowned within their pain. This scene shows us, even at our darkest time, we still have our hope buried deep within, regardless of outer circumstances, all we need is will to use it again.
I wish I could meet my 18 year old self like this. My 18 year old self was a depressed sophomore college girl, loner, rejected, being bullied, didn't focus on studies, wasted a lot if time on wrong people. I'm already a 32 year old woman. Will tell my 18 year old self to stay strong, have hope in meeting new people who can still be trustworthy, cutting off people who you thought were your friends isn't really bad, will have a new found passion by age 21 which is Baking, and it's still possible to become an entrepreneur even if you're an introvert and shy.
Beautiful. If only Erik could have gone through this with his older, wiser, Ian McKellen self, all the chaos and death he caused in the final act could have been avoided. Not even he could ignore sage advice from Gandalf.
Oh man I can't believe he said this line in Multiverse of Madness. X-Men movies were my childhood and to me, seeing him again saying one of his best lines was just as nostalgic as seeing Tobey Maguire in No Way Home. MCU keeps blessing us with blasts from the past

It wouldn't have been the same, and it would've taken away from Charles meeting his future self. Young Magneto is a much more sympathetic character than his older self. If anything, Magneto's character devolves in the future, it would've had the opposite effect.

This scene has a profound impact on me. Years ago, i was going through a low period, for a time, i had everything, but then suddenly, i had almost nothing. Life didn't mean much. Living was kinda pointless. But as i was seeing this scene, i felt like my future version is putting his hands on my shoulder, saying I have a long way to go, and I will go a long way, as long as I want to. Many years later, i have everything the old me wanted. But there's a long way to go. And again, the path ahead seems bleek. But this scene reminds me of the past, that i have somehow endured, and maybe, i can endure more. Maybe one day i will look at this comment again, and be glad that I hoped, again. I hope, you will be able to hope, again, fellow traveller. We have a journey to make.

1:37 I like old Xavier´s speech a lot. 1:46 I like this line a lot because it would usually be reserved for the villain, "The pain will make you stronger". But Charles Xavier greatest gift is his empathy. He´s such a gentle person.
It's a subtle and quick thing but the younger Charles seeing the future Erik I like to believe helped him on his path to removing his self doubt. Having seen it with his own eyes, he knows that despite their difference when it matters Erik would do the right thing and he is going to continue to try and redeem his friend
When he replied to hank saying the power was back on and he said yes it is he wasn't talking about cerebro he was talking about him his own power not his mutation but his power of hope and confidence
It's moments like these that make the xmen movies so much better than the avenger movies. At least the xmen series has emotion and feeling. All those other superhero movies are about the CGI effects and explosions.
I have a true gift of discernment from God and I work with children and I also have training in abuse... and experienced it myself as a child. I have a passion to help children so I work in childcare... it’s in my blood. I love everything about it from working with the women to mentoring and training teachers to love on the children. The problem is that you can’t teach love. And there are so many parents abusing their children and even caregivers abusing the children at daycares/learning centers and I feel so done sometimes because I keep trying. I called DFPS and got fired once. I’ve reported abuse and had instances where directors and other teachers lied for staff members etc... every once in a blue moon... something gets done but more often than not... abuse just goes unpunished and even excused. It’s disgusting out there and I’m tired of it. When I feel like giving up... I watch this clip. I was watching this movie with my son when he was 15 and I cried at this scene. He makes fun of me to this day for crying but... it’s only because he doesn’t know why exactly... and I’m so glad he doesn’t know but... there are too many souls out there that do and it breaks my heart so bad. But I press on. And pray. Jesus is going to come and make things right once and for all. #Hope
I remember watching this for the first time to really get my mind off what was happening at the moment. Depression, anxiety, real dark thoughts, etc. I can’t think back and remember much of the time but this one scene came out of nowhere and changed my perspective. The battle ahead was a a long one and hard fought but this put me on a good path. To bare this pain, ACCEPT this pain, and as well to seek help and guidance from others. Great bit in this movie.
Charles Xavier's most helpless student was himself after all.
And the complex part is that isn';t even Charles Xavier really it's his twin brother who he has taken over talking to his brother's younger self... :l

1:37 I like old Xavier´s speech a lot. 1:46 I like this line a lot because it would usually be reserved for the villain, "The pain will make you stronger".
But Charles Xavier greatest gift is his empathy. He´s such a gentle person.
"Power is back on!"
"Yes... Yes, it is."
❤
"The power's back on" ;)
Yes, yes it is.
It's a subtle and quick thing but the younger Charles seeing the future Erik I like to believe helped him on his path to removing his self doubt. Having seen it with his own eyes, he knows that despite their difference when it matters Erik would do the right thing and he is going to continue to try and redeem his friend
who else is here since Charles said it in Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness ?
So badass to see different timelines cross over.
Charles Xavier is the best character in all of Marvel ever😌👏🏻
When he replied to hank saying the power was back on and he said yes it is he wasn't talking about cerebro he was talking about him his own power not his mutation but his power of hope and confidence
I feel like anyone going through a hard time in their life needs to hear this.
#Hope
He said it again in doctor strange 2
I remember watching this for the first time to really get my mind off what was happening at the moment. Depression, anxiety, real dark thoughts, etc. I can’t think back and remember much of the time but this one scene came out of nowhere and changed my perspective. The battle ahead was a a long one and hard fought but this put me on a good path. To bare this pain, ACCEPT this pain, and as well to seek help and guidance from others. Great bit in this movie.
I’m glad this quote made a return, truly a meaningful one
such a powerful scene
1:03
Who else came back to this quote after hearing him say it again in multiverse of madness😞
🙋♂️🙋♂️🙋♂️🙋♂️🙋♂️
SPOILER
the whole studio cheered when he said this😭
Who knew this quote would be relevant again
A scene so good, so emotional, Doctor Strange 2 had to ape it for those sweet, sweet memberberries.
Before anyone else makes a comment, I'd like to make it myself:
"Anyone else come here after watch Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?"
This scene means more to me than words can describe
We will see what kind of Doctor Strange you are...
Please Charles, we need you to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN !
Who's here after this line was recreated in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?
Wow….just wow this will forever be the greatest X-men movie.
i knew that quote sound familiar
Hope is the highest aim, the most divine value. Its more powerful than willpower, even love
This scene is the most powerful and beautiful scene it’s so impactful in so many way
That was some heavy deep shit man.
