As someone who’s suffered from Major Depressive Disorder I’ve fallen into that same hopeless, cynical pit of despair that Charles was in. But it’s characters like Professor X and Magneto that help pull me out of that pit. That show me that dark times don’t always last. That you can stand against hate.

I remember seeing this movie in theaters. The moment they played John Ottman's X-Men theme song in the opening credits, i got goosebumps hard. That was one of those moments where i really wanted to say out loud, "FINALLY, THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THIS BACK!". After so many years the franchise didn't used their X-Men theme, so grateful that Days Of Future Past, the best X-Men movie imo brought it back in the right place 🙌
The theatrical cut is great but i loved the Rogue Cut even more. Rogue was so underutilized in the theatrical cut, even barely had any lines. So glad that an extended cut that had her more in it improved her involvement a lot more. She's one of my favourite part of the X-Men franchise and i thought Anna Paquin has always been terrific as Rogue
This is the best Xmen movie for me. It did everything well, and it even brought the old and new cast together. Also, this movie starts in a different timeline, the first 3 movies are an entirely different timeline from all the other movies, and then the next 3 movies messed the timeline up, this movie literally came to fix the entire thing
When Rogue took control for Kitty Pride I got a little emotional. Damn it's so good. I didn't know that this (Rogue) cut existed......I like it way better than the theatrical release. Thanks for watching this one.

2014 is one of the best years for film, if not the best, so I'm not sure I agree and I've loved this film since it came out. Not a disservice to this film, just that there are so many truly great films that came out that year. I'd say it's the best comic book movie that year at least, beating the first Guardians and Winter Soldier (and TASM 2 easily).
I love that line from the professor. "Just because someone and loses their way doesn't mean they're lost forever." Same thing he says later on to Dr Strange.
Wolverine has his metal claws back in this because Bryan Singer(Director) said that Magneto put them back on off screen after The Wolverine. Edit: This takes place around 10 years after The Wolverine, so you could assume it happened gradually over those years with Magneto's help.
Idk why everyone is saying this makes no sense when magneto did this stuff in the comics. He's the only person who CAN manipulate adamantium and could pretty easily just spread out the metal he already had in his bones to coat his claws. Very much not impossible for magneto
Fr 😂 It's like He says He doesn't really remember these Movies that well but then every Scene that wasn't part of the theatrical cut He says "I've never seen this before, This must be part of The Rogue Cut."
1) You have to remember that the continuity in the Fox Marvel movies is not like the MCU. Resist the urge in trying to connect one movie with previous movies. 2) In the comics Kitty goes back (sent by Rachel Summers, Scott and Jeans daughter) in time not Bishop. Bishop goes back in the 90s cartoon series. 3) Although Scarlet Witch is Peter’s twin sister in the comics Bryan Singer left it vague but didn’t deny or dispute that the little girl in this movie is his younger half sister Lorna Dane (Polaris) from the comics. Same powers as Magneto.
James McAvoy is a great actor, his performance in Split was unbelievably good, even in his early acting career in films like Flith he’s nothing short of brilliant and even when he was a teenager in the original U.K. version of Shameless he was the star of the show
Bryan Singer indicated that in interviews; but it feels like (at executive level) when they cut off Wolverine's claws, they pretty much had no an idea how they would solve that (and let Bryan Singer come up with an explanation outside of the film).
The sentinels are absolutely terrifying, I remember whenever they were in episodes of the 90's fox kids series as a kid I always got an uncomfortable feeling when they would appear on screen, with how utterly relentless and unstoppable they were.
They didn’t give the “trask” in the last stand a first name so I think they wrote it off as someone else, but in this storyline they have an identified “Bolivar Trask”
29:17 there is an interpretation of Quicksilver’s powers in the comics, where he cannot turn off his fastness. He has to slow down in order to communicate with others, and it frustrates him quite a lot. He has described it as, being behind someone at an ATM, who doesn’t know how it works. They are constantly messing up, and having to start over again.
The wild thing is Magneto has always known prison walls from way back to when he was a kid. He's never seen the good in humanity like Charles has. The fact that in the Rogue cut, they mentioned Wanda but never showed or said her name.
*Kitty was sent into the past, not Bishop. I assumed that's why they had Kitty be the conduit to send Wolverine back, they threw her a bone to include her since they replaced her spot w/ Wolverine, even if it made no sense w/ her phasing power.
People say Mystique shouldn't be a hero in Apocalypse. If so, then what's the point of DOFP's ending? Like "Hey Mystique, don't kill Trask, but then keep being a villain!". What???
Trask was supposed to be her first kill and first step to the dark path, and she avoided it. I like it, it's an organic change. Seriously people, you already had a villain Mystique in the first trilogy
IMHO it would have made more sense if Mystique was the one who found Apocalypse, and from their relationship and his god complex that she finally faces who she almost was, and is forced to make a choice between fighting for her people, and taking a stand to fight for the kind of world that her people deserve. One based on death, or hope. Not because Charles wants her to, but because she realizes what is truly important. Having her start as Apocalypse's savior, then his assistant, then his servant. Choosing to stand against him in the end instead of Magneto would have been the perfect way to complete her character arc.
The Rogue Cut seems to go with a deleted scene in last stand , where Rogue comes back to the mansion and holds Bobby's hand with gloves on. Letting us know she didn't take the cure.
Correction: I do know why I love this the best! It has a lot of cool stuff in it. Good music, good effects and the quicksilver “time in the bottle” scene. Chefs kiss!😊❤
My favourite easter egg is that when she's portraying the officer in Vietnam, the name on his uniform is Sanders, as in Colonel Sanders. Thanks for taking the time to react to the Rogue Cut, and sharing your reactions with us!
I loooooove first class but this one is my favorite x men movie! It’s so good in every way! Always get emotional during the conversation between young and old Charles.
Glad Tara is enjoying the X-Men movies! Days of Future Past is my favorite alongside First Class. The score is absolutely amazing I listen to it all the time.
The cure in "X-Men: The Last Stand" was definitely temporary, indicated by Magneto wiggling the chess piece. But, there's also an alternate ending that shows Bobby coming across Rogue at the school, and instead of her apologizing for taking the cure, she tells Bobby that she couldn't go through with it
The movies are fairly loose with continuity. I’m pretty sure that Trask in The Last Stand was originally supposed to be Bolivar Trask, but they’re just ignoring that. I think it’s best to not think too hard about continuity. After all, Moira MacTaggert was in her 30s in The Last Stand but also in her 30s in First Class.
I think the original plan was for Bill Duke to play Bolivar Trask, but in Last Stand, they only ever refer to him as "Trask". Because the "original" timeline in this movie has Bolivar die in the past, he would technically not have been alive by the events of The Last Stand so - Bill Duke's character gets relegated to a random Trask rather than the Bolivar Trask we thought he was going to be.
John Ottman’s Hope (Xavier’s Theme) remains one of my favorite songs from a film. It truly oozes how down one can feel but finding light at the end of the tunnel. 💯
For Andrew In the X-Men universe, the Trask family spands throughout the Marvel Universe Family members includes: Dr. Bolivar Trask: An anthropologist who created robotic Sentinels to fight and imprison mutants. Bolivar believed mutants were a threat to humanity. He had two children, Larry and Tanya, and his brothers were Simon and Donald. Larry Trask: Bolivar's son who was a mutant with precognitive abilities. Bolivar gave Larry a medallion to suppress his powers. Tanya Trask: Bolivar's daughter who was a mutant with the ability to travel through time. She vanished due to her powers, but was rescued by Rachel Summers in the future and became Madame Sanctity. Donald Trask, Sr. Bolivar's father who is deceased. Simon Trask: Bolivar's brother who is deceased. Donald Trask, Jr. Bolivar's brother who is deceased. Donald Trask III: Bolivar's nephew who is deceased.
Continuity Smontinuity is what Campea says about X-Men films during the 20th Century Fox reign. This film really to me felt the best in the 20th Century Fox umbrella. Also RIP to Adan Canto who portrayed Sunspot in the future timeline storyline in Days of Future Past.
Yeah, I actually liked it at first but that one is seriously driving me insane now, especially hearing Andrew “correct” himself after pronouncing it right. Like we don’t have to make every casual fan nickname by Tara the default. It’s really undermining the weight of the characters. Edit: He still corrects himself in the discussion too. *sigh*
I assume someone mentioned this already with the hundreds of comments on this thread but in the comics it was Kitty Pryde that was sent back to the past to save the future by Rachel Summers AKA Phoenix 2 (Cyclops and Jean’s daughter) to stop Mystique’s Brotherhood of Mutants from assassinating Senator Kelly 🤓
Rogue's powers coming back like magneto's makes sense considering where the "cure" came from. I mean, even that kid's powers were temporary when used on others, the cure effect wore off as soon as the proximity limit was reached for the mutants in the room. So, in theory, the cure would only last as long as it's in the system, but would fade over time.
Awesome Video Andrew and Tara!!! I LOVE THIS MOVIE SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!! My Personal Favorite X-Men Movie after Deadpool And Wolverine and The True Ending to The X-Men Movies In My Opinion. Absolute Masterpiece!!!
Andrew being the one to see them all he’s always asking “why is this happening didnt they do that in the other one differently?” Doesn’t he realize thats the problem with these old xmen already💀💀 just gotta enjoy each movie for what it is sadly lmao
Andrew, The next X-Men movie to watch is "X-Men Apocalypse". That was the conclusion of the First Class Trilogy. Next was " X-Men Dark Phonix" I guess making it a Quadrilogy. The final X-Men movies in between "Deadpool" and Deadpool 2 " are "Logan" and "The New Mutants". Enjoy the journey through the "Deadpool" films.
Best X-Men film I have ever seen, after every minute the film just gets better and better. I love that it's about time travel and also love the apocalyptic tone.
In regards to how Wolverine had the Adamantium claws back, if you pay attention to "The Wolverine" mid-credits scene, you'll see Magneto use his powers to easily stop Wolverine from attacking. His entire skeleton is still Adamantium-laced, and much like growing nails, that's more likely how he got them back, though it would have been nice if it was addressed better.
9:33 No Kitty is the one who goes back in the comics. Bishop hadn't been created yet in 1981, he was used in the animated series in Kitty's place since she wasn't on the show.
this is by far my favourite X-Men film. above X2, First Class, Deadpool, Logan, all of them. it just has EVERYTHING. it's so emotionally satisfying. it's so cool. it's so fun. it's beautiful. the stakes are massive. it ties everything together so perfectly and feels like such a complete story. i would even put this above most MCU films, honestly.
8:52 bro stop trying to make sense of the X-Men timeline. You're just gonna get a headache. Angel shows up in Apocalypse in his 20s, in the 80s, when he was in his 20s in X-Men Last Stand. Deadpool literally says it. "These timelines are so confusing."
X2 is still my favorite because it hit all the right spots for me (minus Cyclops not getting his due) this movie is a close second. With the cast of both timelines, this feels like two movies put together.
This was one of the absolute BEST X-Men films (it's a close tie for me between this and X-Men First Class) and the best part of it is that it allowed the timeline to reset - so that none of the events of X-3 happened & we could erase a lot of those mis-steps. Wish the "fix" could've stayed fixed for a longer duration in the future films in this series
26:47 when quicksilver asks magneto if he knows karate and magneto's response is, I don't know karate but I know crazy is from James brown the payback which came out in 1973.
as far as i remember the scene in the kitchen with quicksilver was done mostly practical..so actors stood still and they had him on a harness running on the wall
Without question the best X-Men movie. Even though the adaptation isnt close to what the comic story was, it was still very well executed. DoFP is one of the two classic 80s X-Men stories, the other being the Dark Phoenix saga, I'm hoping we eventually get a truer adaptation of The Phoenix saga. Also, Bishop wasnt created yet when DoFP was published, Bishop was the 90s.i think the animated series adapted DoFP with Bishop (Sorry long time since ive seen the cartoon) Bishop's storyline in the comics at first was he was following a criminal from the future into the past where he meets the X-Men, who to him were just legends. This is where we first got the concept of the X-traitor, someone from the X-Men betrays and destroys them.
The guy doesnt remember seeing certain scenes, because this is the rogue cut. So theres extended or delete scenes in it. Im glad that they watch this version, because its mor fluid, while it gives more information and one plot hole, but lets forget about that
This is a Marvel movie. You should know by now about end credit scenes, especially if it's the best end credit scene in any comic book movie ever! And you didn't even mention Quicksilver's sister, Wanda! I can understand the X-Men fatigue, but take a break if you have to, before the next movie.
Zoey Kravitz played a character named Angel Salvadore, she was a hybrid of a character named Pixie (fairy wings) and another character named Zeitgeist (acid bile)

I think it’s best to not think too hard about continuity. After all, Moira MacTaggert was in her 30s in The Last Stand but also in her 30s in First Class.
I'm so happy you're watching the rogue cut. She deserves so much more than the directors/writers ever gave her.
Magneto's double take when Quicksilver changes clothes gets me every time
I think the original plan was for Bill Duke to play Bolivar Trask, but in Last Stand, they only ever refer to him as "Trask".
Because the "original" timeline in this movie has Bolivar die in the past, he would technically not have been alive by the events of The Last Stand so - Bill Duke's character gets relegated to a random Trask rather than the Bolivar Trask we thought he was going to be.
The breakout scene with Quicksilver it's by far one of course in any of these movies. That was pure movie magic!
John Ottman’s Hope (Xavier’s Theme) remains one of my favorite songs from a film. It truly oozes how down one can feel but finding light at the end of the tunnel. 💯
For Andrew
In the X-Men universe, the Trask family spands throughout the Marvel Universe
Family members includes:
Dr.
‘I call him Mag Net Oh, Get Over It.’
Nope, still sounds STUPID, no getting over it.
*sigh*
16:26 Logan must have thought to himself here: So you're that hairy blue guy who called me "boy".🤣🤣🤣
X-2 and First Class are close seconds, but this ones my favorite. Great reaction as always!!
Seeing Jean, Rogue, Storm and Scott
😭😭😭 X-Men is its own breed of amazing❤
One of the greatest Xmen films of all time!
This movie is probably one of my favorite movies. There are some issues with continuity and stuff like that, but it was damn near perfect movie
@@Ванечка-ы9с There's only a handful of perfect or close to perfect comic book films. This is one of them.
@@NerdsEngageI just wish this moron in this video would stop pronouncing magneto's name wrong. Lol
Yeah, this one and First Class are probably my favorites in the whole series.
@nerdwarp112 both top tier comic book films!
This is my favorite X-Men movie, and I haven't seen this cut. I didn't even know it existed until recently, so this is new for me too.
This is easily my favorite from the franchise ❤ can't wait to watch it with you guys
The Fox Quicksilver and the Marvel Quicksilver were best buds in "Kick-Ass".
Best X-Men film I have ever seen, after every minute the film just gets better and better. I love that it's about time travel and also love the apocalyptic tone.
In the comics, in Days of Future Past, it was not Bishop, it was the adult Kitty Pryde's mind that traveled to the past
Love watching James McAvory and Patrick Steward acting as Charles Xavior in the same movie
this is by far my favourite X-Men film. above X2, First Class, Deadpool, Logan, all of them. it just has EVERYTHING. it's so emotionally satisfying. it's so cool. it's so fun. it's beautiful. the stakes are massive. it ties everything together so perfectly and feels like such a complete story. i would even put this above most MCU films, honestly.
It really is crazy that they left those plot hole for us to just expect tho
My explanation, time ripple, change something, change everything, similar to the flashpoint paradox
@@thetriplejjj0177
It's the butterfly effect for me.
Same with Emma Frost being a grown woman in First class (1962) and a teen in Origin's Wolverine(1979)
Thank you needed this.
I am OK.
The "I don't know Karate, but I know crazy" line is from a James Brown song.
Continuity was always a little messy with the X-men movies, I just roll with it
Zoë Kravitz played Angel Salvadore in First Class.
That Quicksilver scene never fails to amaze me. One of the best ever
They never said what Trask’s first name was in The Last Stand. So it wasn’t the same Trask. My only question is how is Moira in The Last Stand?
Love Andrew repeatedly saying something must be in the Rogue Cut every 10 seconds. It’s as if we’re watching the rogue cut😄
What I love about this movie is that it is a super hero movie where the heroes have to learn to accept their humanity.
The guy doesnt remember seeing certain scenes, because this is the rogue cut. So theres extended or delete scenes in it. Im glad that they watch this version, because its mor fluid, while it gives more information and one plot hole, but lets forget about that
The "Time in a Bottle" scene was mind blowing.
The Rogue Cut is much better.
This is a Marvel movie. You should know by now about end credit scenes, especially if it's the best end credit scene in any comic book movie ever! And you didn't even mention Quicksilver's sister, Wanda! I can understand the X-Men fatigue, but take a break if you have to, before the next movie.
I love X-Men days of future past both the theatrical cut and the rogue cut
Zoey Kravitz played a character named Angel Salvadore, she was a hybrid of a character named Pixie (fairy wings) and another character named Zeitgeist (acid bile)
I’ve never seen the rogue cut and it feels like a crime because I love this movie
This particular cut of the movie amplifies the greatness of the film.
Superb.
Masterpiece ever. The best X-men film until now 2024. Greatness
