The fact he did all this without really trying. He messed with almost everyone he saved and had fun with it. This scene was Quicksilver flexing. Loved it!
That "wow" At the end means so much. Dude who experiences everything in slow motion and literally is bored of his own overpowered ability did something that truly challenged him and his powers
You could also see his speed fluctuating throughout the scene. As though he’s slowing down and realizes that he’s getting tired, hence the refueling with pizza and soda. He needs to push himself.
@@Skyblade12 he has to eat and drink a lot, yeah. also he is not only a speedster, i think his power can control time fluctuation to a certain degree that's why he is so op.
it's like one punch man thing. guys is so op that every challenge to him just seems like fun, that's why he seems like having a good time doing this. you know, something to kill his boredom
It is amazing how, this is still by far the best portrayal of a speedster that both incorporates, good use of slowmo by not also slowing down the speedster to make him look like he's moving through honey, shows us how truly fast he is and how he percives the world, and doesnt draw the scene out for extra dramatic effect to the point where it's just boring.
While it’s not something you think about at first, having the speedster move in slo-mo along with everything else is kind of weird. It’s like that scene from the first Sonic movie.
@@PK-Radiohmm I would disagree since in an earlier and scene it gives a lot of context about how his life is as a speedster. its shown how in order to stay busy and thus out of trouble, he plays multiple high concentration games at the same time, including a super sped up version of the classic Pong, while Charles and Logan watch in amazement at how fast he's able to do all that, all because he is literally just bored... so we can infer that his mind (and thus perception of time) is running at Mock 20 at all times. also many mutants (including him) have powers that don't turn off and thus whatever their power is simply how they how they live their lives. (Examples are cyclops, beast, and Logan actually since his claws and healing factor are always present and just hidden from view)
@@Im2lazy4thisCritI'm pretty sure they were using that same logic with the bar fight in Sonic 1. He even does all kinds of crazy shenanigans in his version, much like Quicksilver did.
This is why I love this version of Quicksilver. It's his first day of school so he has no attachment to anybody (except Hank maybe), but he doesn't seem to care about it. He did what he did simply because "Why not? Could be fun".
I think you're close, but Quicksilver deserves even more credit than that. Quicksilver is Spider-Man. He wants to be a hero. He knows what being a hero is. He's not stupid. He's smart. So what if he's your friendly neighborhood fun-loving scamp? He's still a *Good Guy*. "Dude I'm not a monster. This is just what anyone should think of doing if they had my powers." Quicksilver doesn't say it because talk is cheap. Push come shove, Quicksilver *does* "with great power comes great responsibility." I argue he IS responsible. He's a SPEEDSTER. THIS IS BEING EXTREMELY RESPONSIBLE AND *NOBLE* FOR A *SPEEDSTER.*
I love all the extra things Quicksilver does while saving everyone, like how he fixed that one guys hair, took the girl's drink and even ate the majority of a pizza, it really adds personality to the character B)
I know this man, he was my neighbor. He was my friend in elementary school and he is a very talented man. We live together in harmony. Then everything change when the fire nation attack. only the avatar, master of all four elements could stop them. But when the world needed him most, he vanished 🤦🤦🤦
Hell, yes. Alejandroofficeemployee and zzenphyrenex5320 both cover facets of this. Pietro's always been too fast for his own good; this scene has him finding a real reason to be that fast and realizing just how OP he is all at once. "Wow", indeed!
Pedro was such an underrated character, if it wasn't for the fact he had a father complex due to his dad being filled with so much hate and caring more for Wanda due to his obsession with her power, Pedro would have made a great member of the X-Men if Xavier and Magnus hadn't fallen out over their ideals tbh ^^ 😁
I have a productivity hack for intense working sessions where I play this song in a 1 hour loop because it feels like I am the quicksilver in my story. Legendary scene.
Staring down an oncoming explosion, and he just cracks his knuckles and goes 'bring it bitch' without saying a word. My favourite sequence in the franchise hands down.
2:23 I just LOVE the smile of sheer joy on his face, proud of himself for saving lives and having fun at the same time, all of this while puting his powers to the ultimate test. Masterful.
I recently watched a video that talked about how this scene and the scene in Days of Future Past, despite being similar, both have a different focus on quicksilver: The kitchen scene in Days of Future Past shows and teaches us about his power and abilities. The song used in that scene also talks about how the artist would use time if he could save/control it, showing that quicksilver recognizes the potential of his power. This scene teaches you about quicksilver's personality, you can see that this is the first time he is using his powers for something really useful or the first time a situation really pushes him a bit and really requires him an effort. He knows he can do it, but he has to take it seriously, and yet he still takes his time to have fun and show that he has everything under control.
I love how quickly he adapts. As soon as he realized something was wrong, he started saving people, and the second he realized getting them out one by one would be too slow even for him, he starts getting creative and rescuing them all at once.
The fact he was this calm, powerful and swift all before he joined the School, man Quicksilver not only had feet of silver but a heart of gold as well.
One thing I noticed was how he was checking under furniture to make sure there was nobody else or no other pets around, he wasn’t leaving *anybody* there.
It's so sad that not only was this character trapped in these movies, granted Days of Future Past is decent, but that now he's just kinda gone, I'm still not over "Ralph Bohner"
This will forever be one of my favorite super hero scenes of all time. It's a speedster absolutely done right. It's too bad it was so expensive and time consuming to make, otherwise I'd absolutely demand a movie.
- Slight Spoiler - They even manage to squeeze in the speedster curse in such small amount of time, that no matter how fast they are, they are still always late ⏰
I love this one but I think the first one they did for DOFP was better with the time in a bottle song. This one is arguably better from a technical standpoint. But just the way the time in a bottle sequence hit was just incredible. Add in the context of that being the first time he really showed what he was capable of after being treated like a joke for the first half of the movie. And paired with that song choice... Super impactful. Very effective.
I love that he had to press the girl's hands in place to make sure she didn't drop the fish bowl, but the dog has a jaw of steel locked down on that slice of pizza, and isn't even phased by the superspeed because he's on a mission and that slice of pizza won't eat itself.
Quicksilver’s speed in this scene is absolutely insane. Bearing in mind that even when the time is slowed down to the point that the explosion is barely moving he looks to be almost teleporting in and out of shot. Meaning that he’s moving thousands of times faster than the explosion! It’s incredible. He’s so op and I love it.

@@SirDankleberry Completely impossible to deal with in most cases - even the slower ones. I mean, obviously someone with this level of speed requires an 'always on' ability (like Magneto's force shield) to stop him from a direct attack - but even then all the speedster needs to do is start throwing things at him fast enough to break through. But even a slower speedster would be very hard to deal with. Fighting someone with even 10 times normal human speed - you'd better have strength and invulnerability on your side, otherwise you're gonna get punched out or tied up.
Best speedster scene in any superhero movie, period still in 2024. Its as realistic as you imagine, down to him even being bored by his own speed at the end of it. The only other icing to the cake that goes unmentioned in the movie a lot is that he gets utterly bored of normal conversation as well because of his speed, like the speedster from Invincible: "Even the simplest of conversations last for hours to me" or something along those lines. Really hope to see more like this in the future
He at most of the pizza himself, as he needed lots of calories to carry out all those people. However he saved a slice for the dog, because hes a nice guy.
All of the Evan Peters quicksilver scenes are some of the best scenes in Marvel, and its a shame that nothing else was done with this character. He had unlimited potential for amazing stories. And Evan Peters has the acting skills to pull any of it off.
speedsters are so overpowered, they had to nerf the avengers quicksilver AND kill him off before endgame. if this quicksilver was in endgame, they would have won in the first place.
@@travisdingolaite6184 did you read Thanos Quest and Infinity War? Thanos beat the Runner, who was a speedster using the space stone to be the fastest being in the universe at the time, faster than quicksilver. That’s how he got the space stone. Granted in the comics Thanos is way more powerful, as are the infinity stones, than in the MCU but Quicksilver is also faster in the comics than the movies too. Speedsters are powerful but they have a limit
@@richardouellette4041 yes, every character even batman and probably captain America are overall more powerful in the comics. it would be kind of silly having thor capable of throwing entire planets in the movies. also I was thinking more about the fact that for example in endgame the final fight, thanos didn't yet have the gauntlet and was still trying to get it and the avengers were basically playing hot potato with it. quicksilver could have just zipped it away with minimal effort (the xman quicksilver, not the avengers one because that one is cheeks and hella slow.)
@@rihariteare really, the explossion was real, it was record by a special camera, and the actor, record the scene, the explossion was added in post production
The explosion was underground, he didn't see it, he was snooping around and found the explosion. In this case, curiosity saved the students, teachers, the dog, and the fish.
Fun facts: The scene took a month and a half to shoot only three minutes. Evan worked more days than any other actor of this movie because of this one sequence.
Not only is Quicksilver a speedster, but the way he flings humans around and carries two of them with no effort whilst running shows he's also superhumanly strong.
I like how Quicksilver at first just places everyone outside but slowly starts to just yeet them through the windows since he was running out of time. Nice detail Fox
This is brilliant not just because he's fast, but because Quicksilver makes SMART decisions here. He starts from where the explosion happens and saves everyone closest to the danger first. Then, he realizes he can't just take everyone outside one at a time, so he sets up the safeguards for people's landings and sets them on the trajectory they need to be so that the explosion will get them the rest of the way. He literally uses the explosion to his advantage! AND, he has fun with it all. So amazing.
I’ll never forget the unifying experience of sitting in a packed theater full of people clapping & cheering through this whole scene. It absolutely blew my 13 year old mind. I thought this was the height of cinema. I still think abt this scene every time I hear Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics it changed my brain chemistry.
with that kind of speed who wouldn't right? so overpowered, i can't believe the villain was able to counter his speed, that was some bullshit villain plot armor
@@michalvrabec454 fun fact: he's running at over mach 8,000 here and still goofing around, so let's say his true top speed is double that, at mach 16,000. When the hell did apocalypse gain perception at 2% the speed of light?
This was one of the most well planned scenes ever put on camera. His attitude just goes perfect with his character and his scenes. Much more like the quicksilver of the old days.
1:46 I'm reminded of The Flash hospital scene with the burrito and microwave. Probably unrelated, not a rip off or homage ... just seems similar. And the whole saving kids thing. CGI here is better than entire Flash movie.
He's so fast that he doesn't just save people, he saves them in ways that are slightly challenging to him. He even stops to have pizza and then pick up where he left off. From his perspective it's like putting a movie on pause, getting a drink and going to the bathroom and un pausing.
From his perspective it's as if time is nearly paused, everything is in super slow motion and he's ran in and out of the building like 15 times already, of course you'd take a snack break after running in an out of a building literally carrying like 50 people out of it. He moves at super speed but that also means he expends calories at super speed so he needs to take food breaks in between using his powers so rigorously... From his perspective that explosion took like a year to go off and after several hours from his perspective he decided to take a break to eat or dick around by moonwalking. The one weakness of a speedster is how fast they burn calories, the amount of food they'd need to eat while regularly using their powers because running in and out of the building like that probably equated to like 20-30 miles, you can bet your ass you'd be hungry/thirsty after running even half that distance...
I just watched the first Avatar again and I just watched this X-men scene. This scene is about a man saving his people from a fiery disaster. The other is Avatar, which is also the same thing.
If he took the time to ask the meat glaciers things before acting, he'd never get anything done. I figure he has gotten used to doing stuff independently since people take FOREVER to respond to him. By the time you finish your sentence he could have been done with it!
@@lamarpray5324 i think he's just so ridiculously fast that time seems to move slower for him. in the comics his mind and body can operate in picoseconds (a trillionth of a second. to put that in perspective, a picosecond is to one second as one second is to almost 32,000 years), so if he wants to he can sit and think about something for what feels like 32,000 years before even a second passes in real time. i think this movie version may be a bit slower than that, but he basically just can make his mind and body think/move so quickly that he perceives himself as still being normal speed, but everyone else being in ridiculously slow motion

@@linhza501 Not really. The budget is not a problem. But if you show a character that fast, it renders your movie mute. It's why they broke his leg later. Your first question as a movie-goer would be, "So why is he not just punching him at the speed of sound?" It's always the biggest problem you have with speedsters because their power set renders 99% of problems mute.
What they didn't get is that speed of sound is way slower than that of quicksilver. So we should technically not hear any sound when they are showing Quicksilver doing his thing in slow motion.
@@gunner4ever924 bruh it’s a movie. Having it be no sound would be no way as cool. Also agin it’s a movie, it’s also a super hero movie non of there powers make sense.
ok so I know a thing or 2 about physics, he seems to be grinding speed of light. Thing is as you get closer and closer to that speed of light you actually slow down. Thats what he's grinding, the light speed curve.
The impressiveness of his powers isn’t the slowing down time, its his perspective and ability to see how events turn out when he does something while time is slowed down. Its all clicks in place so smoothly because of his insight.
@@stephenking5852 Thinking and also observing. So he has to be observant enough to spot the initial detonation, figure out which fragments will hit people before he can rescue them, spot the fish, figure out a mental map of the school, and use that map to get people out that are closest to the blast front Plus, if he is thinking at only 100* human speed, that means he should only be getting 1/100 the amount of light in to see by but can still tell what is going on (if he is thinking faster than 100*, then he would be getting less than 1/100 the light into his eyes). That would be its own mutant power
@@lakshaya.yoddha just look up Evan Peters seen in Doctor Strange 2 set. its not pure coincidence that he's just there as Kevin Feige one of the key writers/producers of MCU Movies considered Evan Peters as the canon Quicksilver.
The suspense of blaswaves and dangerous objects slowly creeping their ways towards victims and Quicksilver saving them just in the nick of time is the best part of this scene

Easily one of THE most powerful mutants hands down. The fact he can basically stop/extend time to make decisions is so understated. Many people don't know he needs to intake SO many calories to perform I love how this scene and others always show him either finishing food, eating food, or looking hungrily at food sources.

Quicksilver series. I don't think movie would work as well, he isn't as well known as other X-men characters. As series it could gather some following and then make a movie. Most definitely something that I would watch. Character is both funny and cool at the same time. A bit like Deathpool, but more child-friendly way.
For those who may have missed it Quicksilver's response with the surprised reaction when he looks at the school is because he sees that it's exploding. Ngl, this scene makes me think Quicksilver is the best superhero ever: 1. Actually saves people 2. Looks cool af while being at it 3. Has best soundtracks 4. Has fun doint it
I noticed how his strategy for getting people out changes as the explosion progresses. He went from placing them outside to yeeting them out the nearest window
he's realising that as the blast progresses its volume increases rapidly. when its small he can take his time and be neat with the handful of people near it, but as it spreads through the mansion the sheer volume of people that need saving increases rapidly and time is always ticking so those extra micros to get someone nice and neat outside become too much to spend
It's very simple. Logically he had to. The explosion towards the end is already in the main lobby so he can't take them through the front door at that point
Quicksilver has a lot of talent and adds humor into the more serious and at times dark tone of the Xmen Series. So glad he is in the films and honestly is a fan favorite for many people including me!
Just a shame he's not really used a lot, he could solve most of their problems before the X-men even realised they're problems and it always pisses me off the lazy ways they find to write him off the movies. I legit had to Google if he was in Dark Phoenix. That movie was so forgetable, they couldn't even make QS fun and memerable

That "wow" At the end means so much. Dude who experiences everything in slow motion and literally is bored of his own overpowered ability did something that truly challenged him and his powers
*THIS!*
Damn, didn't see it this way. Could be a reason he joined the X-Men, it would give him a true challenge to use his powers
Not to mention the fact that he is still moving in super speed whilst it is completely slowed down so his reality of this must go on for hours
While it’s not something you think about at first, having the speedster move in slo-mo along with everything else is kind of weird. It’s like that scene from the first Sonic movie.
I don’t think he actually perceives the world in slow motion I think his perception of time slows when his powers activate
This is just what anyone should think of doing if they had my powers."
Quicksilver doesn't say it because talk is cheap.
Push come shove, Quicksilver *does* "with great power comes great responsibility."
I argue he IS responsible.
He's a SPEEDSTER.
THIS IS BEING EXTREMELY RESPONSIBLE AND *NOBLE* FOR A *SPEEDSTER.*

I recently watched a video that talked about how this scene and the scene in Days of Future Past, despite being similar, both have a different focus on quicksilver:
The kitchen scene in Days of Future Past shows and teaches us about his power and abilities.
Any idea what that video was? Your summary/break down is very interesting
I love how quickly he adapts. As soon as he realized something was wrong, he started saving people, and the second he realized getting them out one by one would be too slow even for him, he starts getting creative and rescuing them all at once.

He's so fast that he doesn't just save people, he saves them in ways that are slightly challenging to him. He even stops to have pizza and then pick up where he left off. From his perspective it's like putting a movie on pause, getting a drink and going to the bathroom and un pausing.
Yes, that's what happened in the video.

2. Looks cool af while being at it
3. Has best soundtracks
4. Has fun doint it
I noticed how his strategy for getting people out changes as the explosion progresses. He went from placing them outside to yeeting them out the nearest window
I think the explosion was starting to catch up but his brain thinks so fast he just improvises
he's realising that as the blast progresses its volume increases rapidly. when its small he can take his time and be neat with the handful of people near it, but as it spreads through the mansion the sheer volume of people that need saving increases rapidly and time is always ticking so those extra micros to get someone nice and neat outside become too much to spend
He also prioritized the order in which he saved the people in the mansion. He can only move so fast, he is not God.
This is like 'uber level SUPERHOT VR
It's very simple. Logically he had to. The explosion towards the end is already in the main lobby so he can't take them through the front door at that point
