    Great video, Duncan, I’ve been marking up for over 40 years ( how did I get so old, so quickly!) and in pre clip days relied on hearing the knot go through the rings or fixing with bike inner tube as carp were rare then.
    I’ve had marker knots slip particularly at Frensham (!) fixed by tying a slip knot loop and tying the marker within it.
    Loved the figure of 8 and finger nail tips, tried already and making life easier, #old dog learns new tricks!

    Thanks for going into detail on such an important subject. Can you and your old mate Paul Garner one day in the further do a post where you sit down over a cupa, talking about angling your approaches to it and water craft.

      I will ask him. We were out a couple of weeks ago and catch up from time to time so can't see why we couldn't have a natter one morning and ask each other questions.

      @duncancharmanangling1136 please do Duncan. You both have a wealth of knowledge. And without other distractions , just both of you with tea and biscuits, I'm sure it would be interesting.

    Fascinating. could you perhaps explain what tips you use for different species please.
    i live 10mins from Throop and the Royalty so dont fish still waters much but at 72, i have to think of a new style of fishing.
    Your videos are very informative and easy to follow. Sadly we seem to find the lunatics taking over the Asylum on most videos of late.
    Kind Regards
    Brian

    What is better for marking the line? Electrical tape or marker braid? Thanks

    • @duncancharmanangling1136
      @duncancharmanangling1136  3 місяці тому

      Marker elastic/gum on finer lines when constantly casting. Some carp anglers use electrical tape but I found it to move once becoming wet and often catches and creates friction when casting.

    Hello, would you do anything different on a river?

    • @duncancharmanangling1136
      @duncancharmanangling1136  3 місяці тому

      It really all depends on size of river, speed of flow, species being targeted but if fishing a feeder then accuracy is key, especially when constantly casting. Take a look at one of my older videos, created I think Aug last year when I was fishing for bream on the Thames. In this situation the way I fished was very similar....

    Probably a stupid question, but here we go:
    How do you get the marker elastic back off the line when you're done?

    • @duncancharmanangling1136
      @duncancharmanangling1136  3 місяці тому +1

      Just get hold of one of the tag ends and pull quickly, nine times out of ten it comes of easily..

      Hi Duncan again loving your videos your doing. I'm not so much a carp angler but a bit of an all rounder more many on natural waters. But when I've gone general feeder fishing I've always been so scared to clip as I've generally only used 6lb or 8lb maximum but I've only just started trying to clip up but tend to keep it clipped up and do afew turns as I've generally gone for smaller fish but mad a few turns before placing the rod back down but of course I'm potentially moving my rig slightly aways from any food that I put in. So basically are once putting the marker line on where you clip does this stay in the same place when casting?and If you clip up once unclipping after a cast if you don't catch a few do you still clip back up when retrieving your rig before casting back out? Hope this makes sense. 😊
