- Great advice from Chris 'Bones' Holmes on using Distance Sticks to measure out your lines to ensure pin-point accuracy with every cast. #carpfishingtips #distancesticks #trakker
'Wrapping up' allows you to record the distance from your casting position to your fishing spot. This distance can then be applied to your other rods (if fishing multiple rods on a spot), or to your spod rod (enabling you to accurately bait-up at exactly the same range as your fishing rods).
With distances recorded, you can easily cast back to the same spot, time after time, by using the 'wrapping up' technique shown in this video.

There are so many topics that could be covered and help everyone in some way. Great informative videos. Would be great to see a video about the difference in high and low pressure and what millibar reading we are looking for or between. Many thanks 🐟🐟🐟
Great video tnks very much , just started fishing again after 20 yrs & didnt have a clue about this nice one 👍
Do i need to use a marker rod .say i know the spots 19 wraps i can just wrap my fishing rod with rig on ?
What about the drop back from the lead? It would come back shorter than what the spomb does. So rig is not gonna be landing where you’ve spomb the bait out to
fantastic way to that would like to try pva bags with the steam what is the best way to set them up to the rod and use them please
Can you spod with a 9ft and fish with a 10ft but it’s the same number of wraps or wouldn’t it work?
Thanks
Yes, belongs you have the sticks 12ft apart. Doesn't matter what length rods your fishing with. It will be the same amount of line regardless.
Figure of 8 or round and round the sticks?
Figure of 8
Either way just find the one that you are comfortable with.
You can do either, I’ve always found I’m faster using figure of eight but both will work
If using 10ft rods do u still use the 12ft sticks to mark it should still be the same distance regardless the length of rods am I right
Hi, yes that correct. As long as the sticks are 12ft apart it will be the same.
As new to carp fishing how long should your hooklength be when using pva bags with pellets or pva stocking please thanks
Pva bags 3 inch stockings or stringers doesn't matter
@@everythingcarpy thanks alot
Do you leave your line clipped up on main rod , what if you get a run further away
No you don't.
Once you have cast out you take your line out of the clip. When you next reel back in you have your distance already memorised (for example, 10 wraps around the marker sticks) , so you just wrap the line around the sticks again and put the line in the line clip. So when you recast out it will hit the clip again at the same distance. Rinse, repeat.
@@Ashley-dy7bx thanks for that as I was thinking same thing if had clip on and was on bite alarm it would pull it straight in
I take it u spomb slightly shorter taking in consideration of the drop back
Depends on the depth of the water. Anything below 6ft I wouldn't bother adjusting.
why not just cast to the clip??
because that would be easy.
