I love you guys! You totally made my day watching you today and the little bit about botox and fillers made me laugh out loud and all my kids looked at me like I was crazy like there's no way watching two women talking about knitting could possibly be funny (I have two teenagers and two preteens). Wish I didn't have to wait four weeks for more of you two, but have a great July and have fun in Michigan!

I do not support everything about our (I'm in the US) President. However I am NOT a white supremacist and I refuse to hang out and be called one. 65 million people in our country voted for our current President they were white, black, Hispanic, asian, native american and more and Revelry (and apparently you) have excluded all of us in the name of 'inclusion'. Nothing could be more hypocritical. I could care less about the pride stuff. I'm pro pride...and I am not a white supremacist.

Hi ladies I'm new to your channel. I don't knit with needles yet I embroider, cross stitch loom knit and crochet. I can't believe people would get nasty about your Pride podcast(I looked at it) My daughter recently came out and she has our support. I do disagree with Ravelry, their wording was an insult, that all Trump supporters are white supremacist no far from it. Politics shouldn't even be discussed, it should only be yarn arts. There shouldn't be hateful things said. People need to learn to agree that we disagree and respect others opinions. Thank you again for supporting the LGBTQ community. I love the pullover and your butt is not fat. I'm going to binge watch your channel

I appreciate your feelings. I’ll bet we’ve all had our share of ugliness in one form or another. Please be aware that some who enjoy and love your podcast, like me, are from the United States and do not want to hear negative political innuendos, conservative or liberal. We all have opinions, but a knitting community should be politically neutral. Difficult, but possible!

Thank heaven you both make podcasts..i started watching like 2.5yrs ago..
You were my LY buddies when i was homecare wife.. Now widowed since March 2017.(ps..met my husband in 1979 on Bellamy Hill in Edmonton 😘)
You both pulled me through and got me to be creative. Albeit, i cant afford indie makers as i am low income, senior ( i did sign up for gift at nomadic knit.com) it's my 60th birthday this month ...
But your joy and friendship transmits to my soul you make my LOL...

I too am very sorry that you had to deal with comments such as that. I just don't know why people can't be happy. I for one don't have enough down time to enjoy things that I enjoy such as knitting and don't know how people have time and energy to be so ugly. Please continue to be you and don't let ugliness in. You two are always so inclusive, happy, upbeat and I for one enjoy and look forward to your podcast. There is too much ugliness in the world that we have no control over but we do have control over how we act. Shame on those people. Good for you and speaking out and not allowing it. Thank you!

I have a very baby podcast with like.. 25 followers. My 10th episode is my latest and the one in which I talk about Rav. It's also my most watched/commented episode. NONE of my followers left me a comment, which is cool. But I had 8 white women I don't know, that don't have any content (again, that's cool) who apparently surfed through all the Rav videos just to leave nasty comments with people that had differing opinons. No engagement. No interaction. Just that gross rhetoric of "Well, this happened to me, why don't you podcast about that??". Just a PSA: that makes you look really stupid when you leave comments like that. I did, however, have 2 or 3 that seemed genuinely interested in starting a dialogue, and, although we didn't agree on Ravelry's stance (or politics in general), we did respect their legal right to have that view, and we found common ground in the fact that hate speech is horrible. So... there's a win! Thanks for using your platform and speaking out!

I am upset, angry ,saddened that anyone would post such vitriol on your channel...I feel so naive that I wasn't aware of how prevalent and pervasive that kind of intolerance and hatred have become on UA-cam and Ravelry... I really enjoy your podcasts ladies and I'm so glad you made your stance but didn't rake it over. I also cannot abide any hate towards any people and for people to be ugly on your last podcast is just unbearable. Why watch if they feel that way and how anyone can be so hurtful towards other people is heartbreaking. So sad. On that subject, I chose not to stay with ravelry because they don't support all inclusivity, they allow hate in one area and that's around Trump. I wish they would have just banned all Trump both pro and con or better yet all politics but I've since learned that the owners are not willing to host a neutral site so I felt I could not stay. I really just want people to just get along. I felt like the knitting community was making such great strides in including minorities and people who were oppressed and I had learned of a lot of creators that otherwise I may not have, but now ravelry threw it away by dividing the community between two sides in politics and it is just sad. I hope that the knitting community overcomes this soon and a new knitting/crochet site is in the works so I do hope designers share their creations on other platforms so that people who chose not to stay with ravelry can still find their patterns. It's such a shame that it went this way but it did and now we all have to figure out a new way to come together as a community again and put our differences aside and pull together through our love of crafting. Keep up the great podcasts ladies. ~ Ashley

Thank you for writing this. I was scrolling to see if anyone has mentioned the main reason for the new policy at RAV. It was politics. I wish they had just banned all politics , period. Name calling was not called for or labeling. Lets just talk fiber arts. My friends and I were good with that. I don't want to be afraid to speak. Our group has been friends for 11 years and we can talk with respect and be on opposite side of an issue. We still are close friends. We are adults not 2 year olds. It's sad that now most of my friends have left RAV.

Tracie, why would you have anything done? You are gorgeous. As for turning 50, congratulations and happy birthday. I'm 52 and as you said, I cheer every birthday I make it to. In my 20's I got really sick and as they couldn't find out what was wrong with me I had real fears I was going to die, because I was in so much pain and couldn't stand. The brain fog was so thick I sometimes couldn't remember my name, so for me I cannot understand why people get upset that they have reached another year. I'm damn going to dance and sing and holler about every birthday I have reached "Yay I didn't die and I still have a life to spend doing stuff I love!" I hope you both have a fantastic July! Thanks for podcasting. It's always fun to watch you.

I too am sorry about the ugly comments you endured. There is no excuse for that. I did want to mention that there are some like me that left ravelry - not because I support Trump, I don't -but because of the ugly name-calling language used by ravelry. I think there are classier ways to put their foot down about hate speech without using hate speech. I just feel like I'm one of many who are getting lost in this discussion.

I'm hoping to get back in the groove. I've not knit for about 3 months now. Just burned out. Thanks for another great vlog/podcast!

A person who I once viewed as a "bad parent" said to me - can even a bad example can be a good example? It's something that has always stuck with me. I've had a number of bad examples in life amyself and I have grown to be grateful for them and always learn something from them. While another person is consumed with their hate, you have friendship, love and encouragement and people to stand with you and for the things you hold dear . Thank them for their bad example.

I have watched you for years! You guys were the second knitting podcast I found on You Tube and very quickly caught up on all your shows. Through the years I have disagreed with some of the things you've said, but continued watching because it's your show and you can say what you like. I have learned so much from you both. I have laughed with you and cried with you and almost peed my pants with you. :) It is with GREAT sadness that I'm saying I won't be watching anymore. I was going to leave quietly but decided to share my heart. I wish we could have a chat so you could see and hear my sadness. It is your right to stand or not stand with Ravelry's new policy. It's mine also. I could have stayed if their policy stated they are banning all hate talk. Yay and good for them. But when they called me a white supremacist because I'm a Republican, I had to draw the line. I respectfully say that you are judging me, not by the color of my skin, but by my political association. One is the same as the other. I disagree with a lot of the things President Trump says. And I would venture to say that you disagree with some of things your Prime Minister says. I hope you take the time to read this. I'm sorry it's so long. Thank you.

@@luannmartin4634 You're welcome, Just wanted to ask, have you heard of the new website, ourunraveled ? Very early days. It was started the day after Ravelry's bombshell but just over 3000 members already, mostly "Ravugees". Lovely welcoming place. Very friendly and 100% unbiased, fair admin. Now they really are inclusive and accepting of all. No political or social justice agenda at all. The marketplace is just being set up. A few vendors/ Etsy shops. Loads of different crafts covered, quilting, crochet, cross stitch, not just knitting. If you don't know about it wander over and have a look. It's fantastic and it's really helped a lot of people with the hurt and anger that Ravelry caused. Maybe see you over there. All the best to you and yours. Diane.

Be careful about referring to "old ladies" in a derogatory manner. We already feel invisible and people treat us as 'lesser than' when in fact we are filled with wisdom, heart and patience. Age needs to be revered, not slandered.

@@dianebell3653 I think there is a difference between someone spewing homophobic or racial hatred and someone calling someone an ignorant arsehole. You do not choose to be gay or a person of colour or disabled but you CAN choose to act like an arsehole on a forum or not. Therefore, that sort of behaviour needs to be stamped out and the person doing it needs to be pulled up about it and told there is no place in a civilised society for such hateful behaviour.

@@hellsbells8689 So do we have to follow your rules about what is classed as hatred/acceptable or are we allowed to make our own? We have never, since cave man days, lived in a civilised society. There have always been groups of people who disagree. You will NEVER ever get everyone to agree to one set of ideals. Do we resort to profanity in a civilised society? Some would say, perhaps the behaviour that needs stamping out is the inability to argue your point without calling names.

As for my choice of the word arsehole, you may call that profanity and I'll have to thank you for the compliment, as it now believed that people who use profanity/swear/curse/cuss etc have a higher intelligence than those that don't.
