I voted and it could not have been easier. I especially love that it literally took 5 seconds. No searching, scrolling, creating an account, etc. I'll vote every day.
Jennifer Steingass' patterns used an increase were you slip the stitch and then lift one leg of the st below the slipped one to knit into it. It's really neat and invisible!
Voted! Hope to meet you in Montreal! I’m just finishing the Love Note sweater. I made size medium with a longer body and sleeves and have about 17 gms of mohair left over. Maybe we should coordinate a Love Note day there!
I find it really funny that you say Joji’s designs just work - I really think the opposite! I think she doesn’t do nearly enough body shaping. Her stuff always looks baggy in the wrong places...
Fabulous episode and loved your sweaters - I use Jen Steingas lifted increase - it’s invisible and amazing xxxx she has a video on how to do it left lean and right
I like to do a variation of the backward loop when increasing. I make a yarn over where the increase is. On the next row I knit/purl through the back loop. I found when making the backward loop my loop was too large. Yarn over and then twisting to make the stitch gives me the correct tension. Hope that made sense. Your sweater is gorgeous!
To me a lifted increase is the most invisible... I always struggle with the increases especially in colourwork. Backwardloop can also show a gap sometimes....
LOL, the large pom-poms remind me of the tribbles from Star Trek! I may have to get a few. (Pom-poms, not tribbles.) Thanks, ladies, for a great video!
I would LOVE a KAL for “old” patterns - I’m new to knitting and feel like there’s so much good stuff to “catch up” on. I am watching your old podcast episodes in order from the beginning, and there are so many amazing patterns I’ve seen in those that I can’t wait to try! What about a KAL where people pick a pattern shown on an older GG episode?!
I'm another lover of the lifted increase! I also think Traci should rip the sleeve out. If you find later that you don't love it, you'll have TWO sleeves that need to come out. Yuck to that! :) Thanks for the podcast, ladies!
Totally agree - knit the second sleeve smaller and compare as you go. These days I never make do , always rip back and never regret it, it's faster the second time, you feel like you're on the home stretch. Also going to try lifted increases on my first Jen Steingass sweater, Gardengate in yummy Wishbone yarn from South Africa
I recently learned the lifted increase and it’s my favorite! It’s very invisible because two stitches come out of one rather than in between two stitches. There are many tutorials out there for it.
Heard somewhere that “the yarn colour for the year 2020 “ is ....all shades of succulents!!!!! Jodie already got the looks (1st colour on summer sweater)...yey Jodi! So trendy!!! Thanks for this wonderful episode. A lot to digest. Will watch again. Tracie love your Floozie. You got skills!
My new fizzy water love is Sparkling Ice ... 0sugar, 0sodium, 0carbs,0fat ... has 100% replaced my diet coke. there are some copies out there, Safeway grocery has one by their Signature Select, and Costco has one. Maybe your store will carry it. And Jodi it tastes yummy with buku flavors ... Yay!
Have you tried the Invisible L increase? I just started Jennifer Steingass yoke sweater (Darkwater) and those are her yoke increases. You slip the stitch purl-wise and then use the left needle to pick up the stitch under that slip stitch and knit it. It looks fairly invisible. Always love learning about new yarn from you two!
I'm making the Simple Summer Sweater now and I must say I'm very disappointed with the look of the M1 increases. I guess using worsted just makes a much bigger hole naturally, but they're too noticeable for me. I decided on the third color stripe to change to a M1B and it looks a lot better. I do love the simple design of the sweater and the oversized look so I'll probably make another at some point now that I've got a better increase to use. (I wrote this comment before you mentioned the increases. Haha!) Thanks for another great video!
Hello girls, I don't like that bubbly water either. As a very new, very slow knitter, I enjoy your podcasts. I am taking a private knitting class at my local yarn shop. You all inspire me to learn this needle art. I crochet, sew and cross stitch, but I want to learn this skill.
Blueprint has a knitting tutorial with all kinds of increases. When you make your swatch try them all and see what is your favorite. Last but not least gorgeous sweaters ladies! Thanks for all you info!
Voted! Thank you for sharing all of the patterns, I'm especially excited to try Tara-Lynn Morrison's (good night, day) patterns! The longer the better for your podcast - love it so much, thank you! :)
When my male cat gets too rough, I put butter on his paw, he has to lick it off which gets him giving himself a bath. This ends up settling him down I think due to his licking the vitamin D from his fur...
Loved this episode, Jodi and Tracie!! On the subject of invisible increases...I see that someone has already mentioned the lifted increase (RL1 and LL1)-I was reminded of this method of increasing in a workshop by Arne and Carlos (...speaking of taking workshops that you wouldn't normally do, I learned how to knit little birds!) Now I've started using lifted increases in all my new knitting designs/patterns (I used to use M1L and M1R). Happy knitting!!
The Erlbacher Gearhart company is located in Cape Girardeau Missouri. They have a waiting period because they make them one at a time. It took me about six months for mine to be ready. They are a great company. I only live about 36 miles from them.
I have started to twist my make one lefts and make one rights that makes them more invisible. I like knit front and back, but those leave a little purl-like blip on the front. So I think my favorite for sweaters is a twisted make one left/right.
Cats need time to get to know each other. One way we have done this successfully is to put the new cats in a room with food water cat boxes blankets pillows toys etc. and then block the door with double baby gates one on the bottom one on top so it almost covers the entire length of the door. This way they can see each other and smell each other smells a big deal with cats and then they can get to know each other safely. Also make sure you have plenty of cat boxes if you have four cats than you should have five cat boxes it can become a territorial problem. It is wonderful that you are letting your daughter back with her cats and working to help integrate them with your own pets.
So happy to see a new podcast. I admit I missed a little in the middle, so will go back...I have FOMO if I miss anything you girls share 🤪. I have been watching all (almost) of the Impeachment Trial. I have FOMO about this historical event in the States, and am on screen time overload. Love the sweaters, and really want to knit more, but I don’t have SQ of yarn in stash 😢. And seriously need to do major stash reduction. I am aging gracefully (soon 77) and combined with knitting slowly, and fixed income, I have trouble justifying purchasing SQ of yarn 🧶. Oh, the dilemma 🥴. 💛😍🥰 beaches 🌊🌊🌊 my favorite places to go, and I do love to 🏊♀️ swim, even though I’m also ‘stumpy’..🤣🤣 . Never heard that term before applied to my size, but it is accurate 🤣🤣, especially since I’m shrinking......like the pencil ✏️ being sharpened away, soon left to be ignored in the pencil jar 🤪 I’ve turned this into a 4 hour afternoon! Love ❤️ having you visit, and spending the afternoon with you. A personal knitting group, and you didn’t even comment on the fact I didn’t finish dusting, and the vacuum is not put away !😂😂 Since we’ve discussed ‘stumpy’ a couple questions: mohair? Makes me look stumpier, fluffier? Sheds? Gets in nose, eyes, etc? Aran, chunky weight yarn 🧶 not flattering? Boxy, positive ease, long, crop sweaters not good for stumpy persons ? Maybe you could spend a podcast, or do a special, discussing selecting patterns and that look good on different body types, and changing yarn weights. I could learn so much from you, Jodi and Tracie 🤩 I must stop 🛑 yakking at you, can you tell I think your sitting here and we’re knitting and talking? 😬. Thanks for coming 🤗
Can’t wait for Knit City Mtl! Booked 2 classes: metal embroidery with Nathalie Dupuis (you HAVE to check her work; it’s amazing) and the colour class with Vincent (or is it Max? Can’t remember) This will be my first knitting festival. Managed to drag the husband and kiddo with me with a promise of Saturday night Mtl Canadiens hockey. So no bingo with La Bien Aimée, but a nice family weekend get away not too far from my home (2.5 hour drive). Hoping to see you ladies.
Guys I live in nyc and I just needed to stay home and away from the crowds. I missed seeing, chatting and knitting. But I’m a serious homebody and don’t often get fomo and will visit next year. ALTHOUGH I’m seriously having fomo already for knit city Montreal. Not in the cards this year. Looking forward to all the reports 😀😀😀. Always enjoy hanging out with the two of you. 💜
If anyone is wondering what the SSSS looks like cropped and in one color - Check out Amanda's project page --> www.ravelry.com/projects/Attic166/super-simple-summer-sweater
Love your sweaters. Lighting is so much better. Can't imagine the temps you have had there. Vogue Knitting Live was amazing but so sorry you don't come. I was there Sunday which I gather was much better than Saturday. The hotel is beautiful. Joji was there Saturday but I was not. I was happy to meet all but one podcaster I wanted to. Let us know if you will ever go and I will. Mini came from England, Stephen West from Amsterdam, Aimee?sp came from Europe. There were fashion shows all weekend. You would love it !
Hi Jodie and Tracie, I love your videos soooo much, I really get excited when the notification appears on my email, I have two knitting machines which I love, Standard gauge knits fingering to lightweight dk and a bulky machine which I can knit from dk upto bulky weight yarn. I have recently knit socks on my standard gauge machine, it's really so easy to do... Thank you for your great and very funny podcasts... Love Annette from UK. 😂😘👍
I cannot find the pattern od the hat you (Jodi) designed that was on your podcast July 4 2019. Released in NOMAD KNITTING MJag. Can you help me locate the place to buy a copy of that design?
Hey Tracy, just got your haircut!!! Actually showed the podcast to my hairdresser to give her an idea of what I wanted.....now for the blonde highlights. Thinking I just want to BE you!😉
OK...in addition to producing great hat patterns, Jodi, you should be writing a book called, “Meemow(sp) the Wobbly Cat”....in your spare time, of course 😂 I know you can do it!!
Hi, Ladies...love your shows but I can’t always just sit and watch that long. But I love podcasts....audio podcasts. I can download those and take them with me as I run around. Any chance you guys can make your show available as a true podcast (audio only ) vs a webcast (your lovely videos.). I hate missing shows since I don’t really have time to watch TV for a couple hours. Thank you for your shows! Hope you’ll consider audio only versions! Peace.
A Big Hello from Dubai, girls! I just voted!!! Thanks for the tips on making increases. I'm knitting the Gracious sweater by Espace Tricot and it's my third attempt to try not to let those increases be as visible. Can't stop laughing about the "Asshole Cat".
Always love your podcasts no matter the length! Jodi, thanks for showing the poms. I’m always a bit hesitant to order from far away. Glad to know there’s really a person there to fill the order and not just take my money. 😂 And if you like Good Night, Day you will probably also like @rukeofficial Their esthetic is similar. They both have some lovely patterns and I want to knit all the things!!!
If you're looking for a stunning work on sizes and how to fit your sweaters (and even your hats), you should look at Mélina's patterns at www.ravelry.com/designers/melina-hami She's a friend and, in my opinion, deserve (as many other french designers) to be more known. Have a great day ladies ! 😘
My fave invisible increase is a KFS! It’s just like a KFB, but instead of knitting the back stitch, slip it! It won’t give you the little purl bump like the KFB and you still get an extra stitch
Thoroughly enjoyed ur chat (or blether)am in Edinburgh new bag material will b lovely I got two of ur bags for Xmas but hubby said duty was expensive such a shame or I would love loads just have to have a trip to Canada but too old to travel 66 soon😜
You are really the best, totally outstanding. Love your discussions about everything i think about , it is like you are reading my mind. It feels like i have got new best friends :D Lucky for you i live too far away ;) . Thank you for bringing me a lot of joy! Lucky me that have 88 episodes to catch up
You definitely are not dumpy! But I agree with you. , Oversized garments are very difficult to wear when you are short! Tell people can put on the biggest things and still look put together and cute, but you throw something giant on a short girl and it all just goes downhill from there
Clara Parkes is coming to do a book signing in my booth at Knit City Montreal! Squweee! So if you want to meet her, buy her book and get it signed come to the Rosehaven Yarn Shop booth from 2-3 pm on Saturday. I don’t have my booth number yet so I’ll let you know where I am soon! I’m so nervous about doing this, how the heck do I figure out how many books to bring?? 🤪
super late to the party so hopefully the cats have gotten along better now! if not, check out jackson galaxy - tons of tips on introducing cats to each other. The feliway difusor works as well. it takes patience but it will be worth it to have a harmonious household. good luck!
Have you ladies heard about the PEI first fiber get together this fall? They have a web page in early stages. I'm not sure yet how many vendors will be there but there won't be a lot of trouble to get there. You shouldn't have major traveling to get there. Barb
A cup of tea or coffee plus knitting while listening to your podcasts is the best way to spend and afternoon. The longer the podcast the more knitting one gets done. Don’t talk for any less time.
I have a baby gate across the steps to my basement because of my grandson. When our cat gets out of hand I put him down the basement and put the gate across and he doesn't jump over it. The gate is a mesh retractable gate - not cheap but effective!
Me: *Sees a new GG podcast! 😆 Runs to WIP and sits ass on couch with a cuppa ☕️ *. 🥳👏🏻❤️❤️
Thank you, beautiful ladies! 😘❤️❤️
I voted and it could not have been easier. I especially love that it literally took 5 seconds. No searching, scrolling, creating an account, etc. I'll vote every day.
The « asshole cat »... I’m dying!!! 🤣😂🤣
Jennifer Steingass' patterns used an increase were you slip the stitch and then lift one leg of the st below the slipped one to knit into it. It's really neat and invisible!
Jodi that sweater looks amazing on you and your hair is gorgeous!
Wait until Vogue knitting LIVE is in Chicago or Minneapolis!! That would be a shorter trip! I love you ladies so much!!!
Voted! Hope to meet you in Montreal! I’m just finishing the Love Note sweater. I made size medium with a longer body and sleeves and have about 17 gms of mohair left over. Maybe we should coordinate a Love Note day there!
What brand of knitting needles did you use for your red cardigan Tracie?
I find it really funny that you say Joji’s designs just work - I really think the opposite! I think she doesn’t do nearly enough body shaping. Her stuff always looks baggy in the wrong places...
Fabulous episode and loved your sweaters - I use Jen Steingas lifted increase - it’s invisible and amazing xxxx she has a video on how to do it left lean and right
Feliway diffuser plugin for the cats, helps them calm down and adjust to each other using pheremones.
I love settling in for an evening of knitting and Grocery Girls. Don’t change a thing! You are my best (imaginary) knitting friends😘
Keep the long streams coming I am always so excited when i see a 2+ hour grocery girls podast - yay 2 hours of knitting
You are not short and dumpy. They now call us fluffy. I'm only 5.1" and over 200 so I'm fluffy.
To me a lifted increase is the most invisible... I always struggle with the increases especially in colourwork. Backwardloop can also show a gap sometimes....
Oh, it's always a great day when I have a new GG podcast to watch. Adore you gals!
See Patty Lyons and her Lifted Increases for nearly invisible!
You say “pop” in Canada instead of soda!? Yay I thought I was only Michigan. Cheers to a great podcast
Oh we say "pop" in Colorado -- that is, the natives say that.
Suzanne Bryan has a lovely youtube tutorial on knitting a custom glove thumb gusset - which you could possibly adjust to your pattern 😊
Your lighting is on point today! Would you mind sharing which new lights you got? I’m still at the mercy of what the weather is doing for my light 🙃
LOL, the large pom-poms remind me of the tribbles from Star Trek! I may have to get a few. (Pom-poms, not tribbles.) Thanks, ladies, for a great video!

Maybe a pajama bag? Used to be a thing. Fold up pajamas and stuff inside and leave on bed as decorative thing usually for kids.
I'm another lover of the lifted increase! I also think Traci should rip the sleeve out. If you find later that you don't love it, you'll have TWO sleeves that need to come out. Yuck to that! :) Thanks for the podcast, ladies!

Come to VKL in Seattle in March!! Fashion shows and all, but not as crowded!!!
Re: the glove and no gusset - what about going up a needle size for the widest part of the hand. Maybe that would prevent the pulling?
My new fizzy water love is Sparkling Ice ... 0sugar, 0sodium, 0carbs,0fat ... has 100% replaced my diet coke. there are some copies out there, Safeway grocery has one by their Signature Select, and Costco has one. Maybe your store will carry it. And Jodi it tastes yummy with buku flavors ... Yay!

On the round after the increase knit through the back loop of the increase.
Stitches West is having a quiet room this year. A good way to get away for a bit when you’re feeling overwhelmed.
"What the actual 'f'" ... I love you girls! I voted! Oh, please keep the cat!
I'm making the Simple Summer Sweater now and I must say I'm very disappointed with the look of the M1 increases. Jodi, your hair looks so good in this light and more natural color, loved it!
I’m coming to Knit City Montreal from North Carolina.
Jodi! Your sweater is gorgeous! Love the colours!! 😍
Is it a pajama bag? We used to have those when I was a kid. (about 40 years ago)
I wondered about that.
When my male cat gets too rough, I put butter on his paw, he has to lick it off which gets him giving himself a bath. This ends up settling him down I think due to his licking the vitamin D from his fur...
Thank you! ☪️💟☪️

The Erlbacher Gearhart company is located in Cape Girardeau Missouri. They have a waiting period because they make them one at a time. It took me about six months for mine to be ready. They are a great company. I only live about 36 miles from them.
I hope to meet you at Knit city , we have are tickets for Knit night both sadly missed the bingo event 😥
I have started to twist my make one lefts and make one rights that makes them more invisible. I like knit front and back, but those leave a little purl-like blip on the front. So I think my favorite for sweaters is a twisted make one left/right.
I love the length of your podcasts, please don't shorten them.
you guys are just great. I agree with the sort of fomo too - I want to go to VK but also it would be a next-level trip for me and the crowds phew!
I just bought 7 freaking pompoms!! Great episode. I voted!!
The lifted increase is a great technique and is practically invisible. As always, your podcast is a highlight of my week!
❤️

Jodi, ribs cooked in an Instant Pot and finished on the grill- just sayin’ AWESOME.

A cup of tea or coffee plus knitting while listening to your podcasts is the best way to spend and afternoon. The longer the podcast the more knitting one gets done. Don’t talk for any less time.
Happy to vote for Jodi's daughter for Team Nurse. Go Team Nurse!
I have a baby gate across the steps to my basement because of my grandson. When our cat gets out of hand I put him down the basement and put the gate across and he doesn't jump over it. The gate is a mesh retractable gate - not cheap but effective!
What's the link for the perfect sweater by hohe (I'm sure I butchered the name sorry) thanks y'all
A sweater a month!! DO it! Check out thenewyorkyear on IG. She does a sweater a month.
I voted for Nurse! I never comment because I watch youtube podcasts on my TV but love you ladies, and wanted to contribute! ❤
I love your podcast and I love that it is 2 hours long!

Voted for Nurse, and set an alarm to vote again in 24 hrs. Will continue until it's done.
Is there a resource that lists indi dyers by state? I would love to support local dyers but not sure how to find out about them.
Beautiful sweaters ladies! Jodi, those are your colors for sure! Your eyes pop!
Hi from Norway. A vote has been delivered :-)
I am obsessed with your green/pink sweater! Is there a pattern for it somewhere?
Coffee and knit time with you girls! ♥
Voting daily!!! Such a wonderful cause!
