  • Mackenzie Daviau is 10-year-old child who lives in Canada. Mackenzie has special needs and has to endure physical and verbal harassment everyday he goes to school. He found Gracie Jiu-Jitsu at the CTC in Timmins, Ontario, but due to the extremity of his situation, and the fact that he will be starting middle school next year, Mackenzie needs more help. A few months ago, Mackenzie's family reached out to the Gracie Academy with this video, and upon hearing about his situation, the Gracies have decided to sponsor Mackenzie to come to California for the 1-week Gracie Bullyproof Summer Camp which takes place July 28 through August 2, 2014. We'll let you know how it goes!

This is a anti bully video but when i read comments here, you're cyber bullying others. What is the whole point of this if no one will take this in.

I love Jiu Jitsu because depending on the situation and can just grapple and look for a submission. Instead of knocking out teeth and breaking noses with strikes.

My son has Autism. He started this year middle school and he has been bullied since the first week of school. He is a very quiet child who gets good grades but people do notice he has special needs. Due to his academic level he attends a regular middle school so things are getting hard there. My son is also very naïve, good hearted to the point that sometimes he doesn't even notice others are making fun of him and we figure things out after we listen him talk to his younger brother about his day at school. We are getting very concern now because we thought it was one kid bulling him and we just found out there are about four more children involved so far. I am afraid because things are only getting worse despite the fact I already went to speak to the school counselor. It brakes my heart that he was dressed as Captain America for Halloween and they were calling him Captain retarded...this is so sad. We live in Miami and although we are looking into putting him to learn some self defense I don't think there is any school around that teaches this intensive week camp :/

Great choice introducing Mackenzie to Gracie Jiu Jitsu...simply surrounding him with the positive role models involved with Gracie Jiu Jitsu will do more for his growth/development into a young man than the best psychologists/counselors could hope to do...for a lot less $ and he will walk away with a remarkable skill!

Is it just me or does every special needs child have a father that is either a step father or an abusive father? My mother works at a special needs school and a lot of the fathers look like trouble... That might be a huge issue, the poor kid doesn't have a real dad to look up to...

Sadly, I can attest that my son attended the Gracie academy to prevent being bullied for over 6 years. In the end, he was bullied by 3 of his co classmates at the Gracie Academy in Torrance, CA. When this was bought to the academies attention, namely Rener Gracie and Brian Ortega, they opted to side with the other 3 students and branded my son a liability and a bully, after one of the three students mothers threatened the academy in person. These same three boys bullied my son at his educational school for several months, to the point where my son defended himself against these three aggressors. The school ruled my sons actions self defense and he was not suspended (though there is a no fault policy in place). This triggered the a fore mentioned threatening mothers actions at the academy. The Gracie's, as a result of this, labeled my son a bully and sided with the threatening mother. They did this without talking to the school, the other students involved or myself.

Let's turn Mackenzie into a walking time bomb ! They didn't really think this one through as they are taking a kid who is very emotionally unstable and immature evidenced by the fact he has breakdowns and flips chairs and then teaching him moves that can seriously injure a person and hard to defend against if one doesn't know Jiu-Jitsu. Great thinking Gracie academy !
