ULTIMATE HEMI JEEP BUILD - Bigger Axles & Badder Suspension!

- A broken transfer case was the perfect excuse to begin building the ultimate Jeep Wrangler JLUR! The Stepchild 3.0 needs a bigger and better axle & suspension setup to keep up with its 426 stroked hemi!
We're trying to get this rock crawling monster back on the trails in time for some off road fun at Jeepers Jamboree on the Rubicon Trail...but sometimes, things don't always go as planned.

Nothing like watching Fab time with Chris🙂PS I wonder how many of the DynaTrac engineers were taking notes on this build🤔😄
You're an amazing engineer, not just a mechanic and fabricator. I enjoy watching you work through your process. Keep up the great work.
Remarkable how all that geometry fits into Chris' head! Clean installation as always. Fun to watch Kevin and Brit banter, as always. StepChild will be better than ever, as always! LiteBriteNationAlterations!
Thank you Chris for your detailed explanations of the measurements and parts relationships and reasons behind why things work better set up a certain way. Very educational.
We miss Bec and Chris working together. Her presence was a huge asset to this channel.
What happen to Bec?
She was a genuine sweetheart!!!
I miss bec also bit I believe she moved onto another welding job!
I agree we all miss Bec…
I’m curious also. She disappeared with no explanation, they had a guy who was traveling with them in his jeep toward the beginning of the channel. All sudden he was gone. I understand personal stuff stays personal but just wondering why people disappear and nothing at all is said. Lol. Just my curiosity I suppose.
Glad to be back in the garage! Learning and seeing how the mastermind works his magic!!!
We're learning from one the best! Professor Chris Payne! Thanks for the Step Child update! Happy Trails to all at LBN!
Chris, Great job on explaining the angle issues that cause bump stear. I see this on so many rigs and watch people throw parts at the issue thinking something is worn out.
Ya'll should be here for Britt and Kev, THIS is there journey. Everyone plays there part at some point. To which Britt and Kev do not have to offer, and they each deserve there own journey also. Chris your such a guy lol . Its a Grammy as always guys! #LiteBriteNation
Thank you, Chris, for the education. I suck at suspension and fab work, but love watching your videos! You explain everything very well.
Kevin has always thought about the what-ifs, just like having 2 different lockers. I love learning new things, thanks Chris! Great edit Brittany, chu chu chia 🤣. See you guys in the next one ❤️❤️💯🤙
Need to have Bec come back on this channel
Bec is gonna for good from the channel. Unfortunately, what you see on camera is only a small fraction of the story or of actual reality. There was no future for Bec on the channel. She was an apprentice, has taken what she’s learned and now has a good paying job where she might have a potential future. We’re no longer taking in any outside builds, so there’s no way for her to make money. We will be focusing on our own personal builds which was always the original plan. We had to take customer builds in so she could get paid, and unfortunately during that time ALL of our vehicles got neglected and that ultimately wasn’t acceptable. We need our vehicles functioning to successfully run our business & livelihood, and can’t afford for them to take the lowest priority. So we went back to the original plan of just having Chris as our friend and personal fabricator. Bec was never in the original plans, and although we tried to adapt to make it work with 2 people, it didn’t end up working out. So now we’re back to the original plan, which is more beneficial all around (for the business, for Chris, and for Bec). Bec also had 4+ months notice of this change, and that time has now come and gone.
Great job, Chris, looking forward to seeing the next part of the build!
Congrats Chris, you really know very well what you are doing! I enjoy watching you fabricating! Keep on! 😄
Holy crap. Thasaholata infomation!! Great job putting that together. As always, thank you for sharing!
Good morning guys , do what you can and prepare for what's to come !!!
189th! Long day, busy; but missing LIteBrite&Friends!
Awesome work Chris! Looks like a labor of love
Great to see the modifications going in. Great explanation on the process.
Hi guys having spent my life working on dirty old equipment, Chris brings back my interest
with the work he does, pity the apprentice didn't work out 😋
Great information thank you for taking your time to explain so clearly thumbs up to all your videos
Love watching Chris build new stuff and fabricate as he goes!
It is so great watching you and learning from you. I wish you had an intern position open. I would come and work with you for free on these projects and then in my off time I could apply that to my project truck. Thanks for the countless hours of entertainment and knowledge.
I’m glad you mentioned Genrights frame because I was going to say something a couple videos back. I really wish you had the time to go that route. Super badass frame
Maybe one day!
You can only learn so much in school, no matter the topic. The rest comes from thousands of hours of experience and many, many, many mistakes. You can tell Chris has all the right credentials cos he understands the fundamentals of chassis design. Love to watch him work.
Awesome work Chris
Great job Chris 🎉🎉🎉❤❤
Damn ...you guys are some seriously knowledgeable guys! Im not even a jeeper, but I truly appreciate and enjoy watching you guys in action! GREAT JOB!!!! AND AMAZING WORK!!! Such a GUURREEAATTTTT CHANNEL!
I think it would be awesome working with Chris on projects. He could teach someone so much on building and fabricating.
In addition to the bump steer information. Shoot for same angle and same length for drag Link and track bar.
Pretty amazing plans Chris. Way to go! Sweet! I can’t imagine the cost for this work, if you charged per hour. OUCH!
Chris is doing an awesome job. This ride is going to be pretty sick. And I thought it was sick as it was before haha
Chris dropping setup knowledge was amazing
Great Video Master Chris!!
thanks for talking about bump steer
Looking forward to meeting you guys at Jeep Invasion, Pigeon Forge !
See you there! 😁🤙
great info - thanks Chris
Quite an upgrade!
Great job!
What about making the tops of your shocks mount higher up into the engine bay closer to the bottom of the hood
love the build the fab work is my fav part
Thanks Chris
Need to add that trac bar length and drag link length should be as close to the same as possible. if too different in length the arc in which they swing can become drastically different.
Watch the camera footage you can see where you ground to deep in a few spots really clearly due to the light. I would be worried about the frame cracking in those spots with the shocks being right there.
The trusty finger pointer is everything ☝️🥰
Thanks for all the info.
Thank You Both 💯🤝
So Wise , Thank You.
Awesome vid!
Fantastic job....again, :)
Chris freakin rocks!!
Ok I’ll take your old ones lol awesome upgrades wish Chris luck on all this! So seriously though what’s happening to the old axels? Do a giveaway for a lucky fan! And I’ll fall on that sward haha.
I see Chris took lead from the Chassis guy on youtube with the pointer finger.....nice!
Please bring Bec back! And fix whatever was toxic for her.

In the meantime, she got a free place to live, a free shop to work in, a free car to drive, & a $150K custom Jeep build out of it. She’ll be just fine. 🤙
Nice axles!!! 💯💯💯
You da man Chris! 🍻
I am in the process of planning my Overland build, starting with which platform. But first my plan is to drive from Alaska through Canada down the Rockies all the way to the southwest, before turning east and ending somewhere in the southeast. About 6k miles or so. Then it will be my daily driver. I will be using backroads and dirt roads and not much, if any, rock crawling. More of BLM land and forest service roads and lesser maintained county roads.
Choice of vehicles in no order; Jeep Gladiator or Wrangler or a Toyota Tacoma. It will have a rooftop tent on either of the platforms with a kitchen in the back. My question and debating points are comfort for such long drives and reliability while driving that long. I have always love Jeep and the history of the company. But because I have owned a 2006 Jeep Rubicon, I know they are not really built for comfort. That is one hesitation on going with it.
I would love your thoughts Chris on if I could make a Jeep a more comfortable ride (suspension or something) that would be nicer for a long drive like that above(though it will be done over a few weeks or month). I was also thinking of a Wrangler with a trailer but trailers do add a bit more planning with trail types and could add a bit more expense onto this adventure.
Any helpful inputs and thoughts are much appreciated. Loving your videos and miss Bec.
You can make it better then it was before. You have the technology. The 6 million dollar jeep.
You guys should come over to Sierra Trek after. Or come run Fordyce with us
i highly recommend busted knuckles ball joint deletes as a big upgrade
Curious if an OX locker would work in there? Ox all can be air, electric or manual and sell parts to keep them working if you snap a line of any kind
Only about 90% of what Chris is doing is over my head. 😂.. golly this stuff is complicated. Yet he makes it look so easy.
Hey Chris. Awesome video and i was wondering which A/C condenser did you finally go with to be able to sit the front winch so far back.
Cool vlog. Time to hire you some new help. Lots of work on one Chris.
Definitely miss Bec

@@LiteBrite I completely understand and I really appreciate you taking the time to respond, it speaks volumes about how much you care!
Question! How do you minimize bump steer on a leaf spring rig with no track bar?
What máster cylinders are y’all using for the jk an jl to stop those Dana 60?
U guys seen to know quite a bit about off road trucks and capabilities. Would u guys recommend buying a new 2023 bronco big bend for daily driving/weekend trail riding? I love yalls jeeps I’d just like to give cord a shot and c how much I like them. Been driving a Tacoma and tundra for the last 15 years
Everybody needs a Chris. Could you please have him cloned and sell them on your website. 😆
EBC pads for the WIN!
So early in the video, already a reference to 3 or 4 inches always being better. Sorry I feel like I'm in 4th grade again. Ha .
You guys rock!
Chris, I was just wondering, if you swapped the shock towers driver to passenger, wouldn’t the front bypass be mounted higher? They look like they are on an angle… great video by the way!
6:55 Don’t worry Kevin you said it earlier, Brit just doesn’t listen to you.😂😂😂
Are ox lockers not a good choice? Considering they can be locked if cables or shifters fail 🤔
Good info
Looks like if you swap the shock with the bipass they might be the same length
Chris, why not move the coilover/bypass front to rear? The shock towers look set up for the longer eye-to-eye of the bypass in the rear, this might make everything bump at the same time and potentially lower ride height.
I realize you probably already dealt with this a week ago or better but it was gonna bug me if I didn’t ask.
Nvm I watched the video again and looked up the collapsed length of what I believe the shocks are; same eye to eye collapsed length for coil and bypass for 12-inch travel shocks.
Just so u no Eaton does make a e locker for the rear axle I have one installed in my 66 cj5 with a Dana 44
I tried to buy dynatrac 60’s for my JL the other day but the guy I talked was too busy to take my call. I’m now on team Currie
You don't have time, but Chris can swap the frame... BUY it!!!
I would love to go home and when I get there I'll probably take a nap .
did i see right, they r manual locking hubs like my 85 f150? i love em but didnt kno it was still a thing....
Awww.. come on Kevin.. pulling the body... its only 6 bolts😂😂😂 Brits famous last words😂😂
Yes where the hell is bec? Britt please satisfy my curiosity and explain........NOWWWW!! LOL

If your needing an extra 4 inches, make sure its well lubricated.
21:47 “that’s what she said”🤣
Does genre make custom frames for the JK?
I’m curious how the e locker will hold up. I’m similar in build weight (7k lbs) 400 hp but 5.33:1 t case low range, and on 43s. I broke my e locker. So far the ARB has been holding up better. I know you will abuse that e locker and time will tell!
We’ve always run an e-locker on the Dynatrac 60 on the Stepchild! 😊 no issues for the last several years!
Finally a Jeep video. I was getting tired of skipping all the Breaking... I mean Bronco videos...
Where did Bec go? Watching Chris and Bec working on builds was great!
I wanna know too
Me too!

I went with the 72.5 Dynatracs too (but with 5:38's), Chris want to do my install?
I wonder if they may have answered the Bec question many times before on past videos. 🤔
In comments many times on previous videos.

Haha. Text is hard sometimes
You can always just use air to mock up your shocks
Sooooo. Nobody is going to compliment Chris on that awesome pointer?
WHERE IS BEC ?????
Welding for another employer.

Understand completely sometimes you have to look out for number 1 which is your lively hood and income. Just haven't seen her on the channel so just curious where she went. Keep on with the builds and wheeling and we will be here for the ride.
Hell yea!
Did I miss Bec's rig completion? Where is that Gal?
She got a new job & Chris is helping her finish up her Jeep in his free time.
Hopefully going to see an LJ update in the near future?
Yah, where is Bec????
