I haven't watched the video yet because it just appeared in my feed but I'm sure y'all don't remember a couple years ago when I said "I wanna see the Morrvair recover the Step Child" and Kevin (presumably) replied and said "Never happen, the Step Child is way more built?" WHO'S LAUGHING NOW.
@@LiteBritecame over from seeing ya on Matt's.. not that I want any negatives but sometimes the ego needs to be stowed.. even for myself.. lol No he didn't have to tow you back, but any off roader knows that anytime you need to call someone for assistance or even to just bring a part for a trail fix.. then you've clearly been recovered... Would you have made it out of there without Matt or anyone for that matter bringing the required parts and or tools... even if it's just a tool that was needed to continue on your way then you were recovered.. simply put you couldn't do it alone, so someone had to Bring necessary trail items.. Loved the video, will finish it later.. just didn't see the point of this comment. .. because when one of my boys brings me a simple universal.. and I install it and drive out fine under my own power I was sadly still recovered by my boy.. lol.. it really sucks when they've got a ford... lmao
Please don't blame Chris, it happens to the best of us. Especially when we think that nothing will happen. It happens. Just glad that you have Matt around the corner from the house and trails. Kevin you owe Matt a steak dinner. You definitely owe Chris the whole cow for dinner tonight. Lite Brite Nation for the win. Still waiting to see Kevin's New trophy truck Brittany 🙏🙏🙏. God bless the lite Brite family
Lite brite and Matt's off-road should get together more often. This video was epic. It's always great seeing you guys really test each other's limits together. 👍
The Lite Brites (or Dim Wits) testing Matt? Are you serious? They could ride alongside him for years and never open their mouths, and still be too soon. Her talking over Matt's spotting is ludicrous!!
The 10.9 marking is the (hardness) grade of the bolt. It is a metric grading system, so the bolt is a metric size. If it were a standard-size bolt, it would be marked with a 5 or an 8 (standard hardness grade) and so the bolt size would be standard as well.
Totally Nuts! That’s the brakes! I’ve often worried about how top heavy and tippy StepChild might be. What a contrast, and I don’t mean the colors - old XJ with a Six and JL with a Hemi; and both over-built! Four of the best rock crawlers around - Kevin, Brittany, Matt and Tom-Tom. LiteBriteNationNutBusters!
So glad to see y’all out in the Stepchild, awesome that you put real world things in your videos, like hey this is why you need a shake down run. Some people may not understand that but glad it was an easy fix and was great to see Mr. Matt finish the trial with y’all. As always another great video, keep up the good work.
In my opinion you two are a positive influence to have fun and make everyone better. I am a new subscriber from Matt's channel. Riding in stepchild would be a fun experience
Like Brittany said "its a test and break in run". Lesson learned on this run. Bring tools and spare parts and dont go a lone. Happy Trails to you both!
Yes!!! Glad to see the stepchild back on the rocks. And love how you guys left the entire bolt story in there not just edited out the parts where you thought it was loose. It was nice seeing the whole thought process.
There is just something entirely wholesome about 2 people geeking out over why a bolt sheared off! That's definitely a learning experience right there. So much so that I hope you guys keep an eye out for other bolts like that elsewhere.
You fits are so funny. You tell us that you are doing a shake down run, but who does shake down runs with only a crescent wrench lol. You are anticipating something breaking, but didn’t bring tools. If I were to label the situation, I’d say that you guys were just being impatient, and wanted to go have fun. I’m glad you guys are safe, keep bringing us new content . You guys are awesome , my favorite part of your videos is hearing your ideas and Chris fabricating your thoughts and then fabricating those thoughts and those thoughts again. Love y’all
So glad you all got in the vehicle quickly! I'm a long time storm chaser who was struck by lightning in 2001 (not while storm chasing haha). If you see your hair stand up and hear a crackling, you are the point of an imminent lightning strike! Always immediately get in the car or a home if this happens! Loved seeing Matt with you all on this one!
Glad to see Step Child back on the trails. Rory is the master at using the selectable transfer case. I’ve seen him do really cool things with trail mater. Once Kevin learns all the tricks he too will be a master.
Came from MORR. Awesome video you have a new subscriber!!! Now to go back and start watching everything I've not seen yet. Looking forward to following your adventures going forward!!
There is always a set of tools/toolbox and various spare parts in the back of my jeep. Even if I'm only driving to the corner store they are there. They are tools that I never take out of the jeep, that way I never forget to take them..
I've been following MORR for quite a while, I came to your channel because he came to your rescue (Broken steering bolt), and he said to come to your channel to see how the bolt broke. I will start subscribing to you now. The Lite Brite jeep is too cool! (I used to own a light bright in the late 1960's (Hey watch it, I am only 39, I am not old!) I look forward to seeing your videos.
Great lesson on being prepared with tools, parts and Matt's phone number! Also, enjoyed the lesson on rock crawling. Don't think my 2 wheel drive Sport Liberty towing my 22' Airstream can attempt any of this! Beautiful scenery out there! Also, love seeing your dogs run wild! I live where I need to keep my 3 dogs on a leash at all times when walking! But I do have the Pacific Ocean only 1000' away and highs in lower 70's and mostly 55 year around! No sweat here!
Kevin, a 10.9 bolt isn't a standard SAE bolt, but a metric bolt. Metric uses the goofy grading system of point whatever. SAE uses grade 3, 5, or grade 8, the highest strength SAE bolt. Chances are your bolt is a 14 -1.75 millimeter bolt.
Hindsight really is an amazing tool. I watched Matt’s video first, so I knew what to look for, so the whole time, I could see the threads sticking out of the sway bar mount and was almost standing on my seat screaming “why can’t you see it, Brittany!” Then I was like “oh yeah, they don’t know where to look yet and she doesn’t have the same perspective as her camera.
The funny part was, the camera caught the embedded bolt end several times, while both of you never noticed it. Of course it's understandable, since the aluminum it was stuck to is very close in color to the bolt... but it was right there on camera!!! 😋 That "buzzing" is called corona. If you feel/experience it, get to shelter (or in an insulated structure like a car) immediately. Yes, it means lightning is in the air and ready to flash over. The atmosphere and the earth is like a giant spark gap switch, and it happens many tens of thousands of times a day... but you never want it to happen *to* you!!! Glad you guys recognized it for what it was!!
The other part of that Bolt and Nut are right there stuck into the frame. you can see it at 1028 in the video the other part of that bolt is hanging there.. you can also see it hanging there at 1530.
Hey guys! New to off roading and 4x4ing so I've been learning alot. Love what I have seen so far - my only question for anyone who sees this. I recently got a toyota tacoma and am looking for youtubers who make similar off roading content to Lite Brite but with a tacoma. Simply so I can learn more about my own vehicle at the same time. Mostly what I find are short videos about mods and stuff.
I’m not sure who may make UA-cam videos similar to ours, but we know a few people with sick Tacomas. Forrest Wang has probably one of the sickest Tacoma builds out there, but I don’t know if he ever posts much about it. Maxx Powell has a ton of YT videos on his Tacoma (I think he recently traded it in and has a tundra now, but there’s a bunch of videos on his channel for his Tacoma). Also check out @whatthekelsieheck on IG, she’s got a crazy built Tacoma she rock crawls the absolute crap out of. 🤙
I'm posting right at the 17:30 mark, (just in case you guys mention this later on in the video). I don't know if the part allows you to do it, but what about installing the clamp so that the bolt/nut are on the bottom or the back of the drag link that way the bolt will clear everything around it. If it doesn't allow you to install in any other position, then Kevin's idea of a blunt-head bolt is going to be the best option. On a side note: The Step Child is bad ass, but of course, y'all know that!!!🤙
For clearance reasons, we can’t orient the clamps any other way. 😊 With how much articulation we have now, tolerance is super tight in basically every direction.
wheeling with out others on shake down runs gets really expensive. and is really dumb! I've done it got the T-shirt ... lesson learned. Apology to the Chris forth coming? For thinking he didn't tightening something. But on the bright side this sake down run just became a teaching moment. For everyone. Don't go alone and don't forget tools. Thanks for your normal honesty!
The Step Child is massively capable and (probably) expensive. The Banana is the old jeep (yes massively upgraded too) that just keeps going! Two cool vehicles
Over from Matt's channel. Had to come and subscribe after seeing your jeep step child wheel after Matt did his repair. Great wheel travel and that was one heck of a line. That suspension reminds me of cantilever that they use on BAJA and Monster Trucks. What an awesome rig. Look forward to more videos in the future.
I always love seeing MORR and Lite Brite together. :)
Without Lite Brite there's no MORR. Only OG subscribers know
Man The Banana is an extremely capable rig. Its cool to see the differences and similarities between the two rigs on the trail.

I mean, all of us laugh quite a bit in the video. You should finish watching it, since a recovery isn’t what was needed. 😊
@@LiteBrite Hmmmmmm?? it was a "recovery" / trail repair. Dontya hate that?😏

The stepchild is back, and a great lesson learned. Pays to have great friends

Time for front axel winch to keep the front end down on those steep inclines. It’ll also put more weight back on the front tires when pulled down.
I am super impressed by the Bananas ability, wow!
