If you want to keep it electric you could probably use an Emrax 228 motor. They have plenty of power for something that small and are extremely light. A lot of FSAE teams use them for their cars.
I have a few of comments here: (1) Many of the Changlis have an electric low gear, which you did not mention. Did you try that low gear? (2) You may be interested to know, these smaller trucks (and electric SUVs and cars; see Aliexpress) are used in China by the elderly (based on the conversation I have had with my Chinese friend at a factory there). These minis are used in contrast to motorcycles due to: the Chinese elderly population having a higher standard of living now days; the low(er) cost of these vehicles in China (under 10,000 yuan); and can come with heat and a/c which can keep a person out of the elements. Additionally, these mini vehicles are slightly safer versus a motorcycle. Sort of. I am not sure I would want to go faster than 40mph with that metal frame and body parts. That front bumper isn't going to do jack. (3) The engine you might want to consider is perhaps either a Predator 670cc or a Duromax 999cc. 22hp-35hp would be impressive gain in this little truck over the standard 5kw (or so) electric engine. There are people on UA-cam who have claimed the 670cc modified can get north of 40+hp (maybe more) with only a few mods (ie: Red Beard Garage). Since I would assume you are not using this truck for hauling, the pickup bed would be able to accommodate the engine and CVT transmission if needed, and you would have reverse, something a motorcycle engine would not give you. (4) Suzuki Samurai driveline components would work nicely for this application which could add 4x4 pretty easy. There are other routes as well, but you builders probably are already aware of them. Be seeing you.

you guys need to upgrade more to the truck like: battery ,electric motor, it will make it much faster and stronger
Your team gives me genuine joy. It feels like I am there in the moment.
This is one of my favorite donut videos. The laughter and complete insanity is the best
I suspect by the time they are done modifying it there isn't going to be much ChangLi left.
"Let's see if we can do it in reverse."
"Naturally" 😂
15:45 diesel of course
You guys' tenacity is admirable
Jeremiah's "this is ridiculous" laugh makes me smile 😊
left wheel spin marks on the dirt... impressive 2:52
Day 384 of asking James to do an Up to speed on his Dad
Keep going bro, make it to 1000
Day 1 of supporting this. Was gonna start on Bentley one but I was just watching and didn’t finish it to watch it
I agree
his dad’s dead bro
Yessss
I would say you guys should put the most powerful motorcycle engine you can find in that thing, but I would definitely add a roll cage first lol. Maybe you guys also could do money pit type stuff to see what it would take to make this thing a fun/good daily driver
Hayabusa or ninja h2 engine should do it
I kinda want to see them keep it electric, that's part of the car's charm.
Maybe overclock the existing motor (give it more power than it's rated for), or swap in a much more powerful motor.
ELECTRIC FFS..... bunch of motorheads jesus it's like I'm lost in Donut's comment section or something 😂
@Ava-qe4qe "I tell you, whoever acknowledges me before men the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God. But he who disowns me before men will be disowned before the angels of God." Luke 12: 8-9. Thank you for sharing your faith in our God. Jesus loves you! How I came to God is when I needed him most I called and he answered. "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12. God bless you!
Honda Goldwing
Love this idea!! Fingers crossed that this is going to be a series.... let's flip that truck!!!
If ya keep doing stuff on this id love to see a bigger EV motor upgrade or even put a gas motor in it
Can we appreciate the cumbia @7:10
Keep it EV. You have plenty of choices around today and you were looking for a new member so, maybe someone with EV knowledge to broaden Donut's scope?
I have a pickman classic with a 4in lift, swapped the controller and battery to overvolt the motor with a constant 10kw at 90v with about 300ah of lithium. Great little truck but with the mods ran me around 20k and top speed is 60mph
Hell yeah, excited to see this series continue lol
You go little truck, show that hill who's boss
Honestly. I am very much looking forward to seeing how far this series goes. It’s like Hi/Low but on 100lbs boost
Zack you did an amazing job with that wiring harness, props dude!
Jobe and Jerry joining Donut was the best thing that could have happened to the channel
Lovin the Chang Li upgrades. It’s gonna climb that hill one day. Also stoked for Donut merch in stores! The shirts are such a great make and material. Seriously- good quality and designs.
