I can’t believe we found a video that has the same project we are doing. Great video and we love the humor. Keep it up. Looks awesome.
Looks so much better. I just bought a house that has bar top counters. It's a brand new home and I'm thinking...why tf would anyone think that's a good idea to install?! It looks so dated!! Much better with regular counter top height. When I'm ready to replace the countertops in my home, I'll remove the bar height counter as well. Thanks for the walkthrough.
Thank you so much for posting this. I have been wanting to remove mine and wasn’t sure how to proceed. This is excellent.
Cheers my man! We’re looking to do the exact same thing in our new house. I had an idea on how to do it but seeing exactly how you did it gives me the extra confidence to knock it out on a weekend.
Cheers and good luck! I still think it was worth it!
I like the bar top better, and the electric outlets are very useful. However I enjoyed the video and the honesty that came with detailing the labor involved.
THANK YOU so much for this. We are trying to decide to remove ours. Perfect and great job !!!!
Getting ready to do the same thing. Getting rid of laminate and going to granite. Thanks for the video showing what I was seeing I need to do in my head.
Nice work and appreciate the tips on taking the appropriate steps to remove the old work!
Wow. looks amazing and great job on the demo! Cheers to your hard work.
Thank you and cheers!
You did an amazing job! I'm looking to do the exact thing with my raised bar! Unfortunately, I'll have to hire a contractor to do...but I love your new kitchen!!!
This is a great video! I was looking how to build a bar top counter. This was more entertaining than other videos
I am doing this myself, and this was amazing. I can't wait to get started
Excellent video. Thanks for your honest presentation.
Awesome walk through. Just what i needed
This is great we have been wanting to do this also. I now feel like we can do it. Thank you for sharing.
Yea. We went back and forth with it but in the end i think it made sense!
Guy is definitely underrated... Could get a tv show on his own!
Nice job! I have a very similar situation but the bar height counter is much bigger. I think I can pull it out thanks to this vid.
This is exactly the video I was looking for! Such a huge help. Thanks!
Exactly the video I needed.
I just found you on UA-cam. You open your vid with a beer....I DO NOT need to see more. you have yourself a subscriber my friend.
Cheers!
Appreciate the video, one of first that came up in Google search once I included “bar top”. I hate this feature in main kitchen/living room separator. Really useful. Unfortunately we also have to deal with a sink in the middle which possibly complicates the modification. Liked and subscribed.
I have no regrets. it decluttered and made the room feel more open. Cheers and good luck!
This came out beautiful!! Your house IS Beautiful...
Thank you! its not very difficult so I'm sure it will work out for you. I dont regret anything. It opened up the space. The bar top felt like a divider. Cheers!
@SebastianBalos thank you. I DID IT!! i had to take the pony down. Mine was in an L shape. I extended the wall out 20in. Now I'm about to do backslash and then ill take pictures
@@jenniferjones5826 Right on! Cheers!
Thanks we are just about to do this. From Australia
Looks nice! I think on mine I will not cut that low and just put in blocks instead of a top cap. Also, I will put some outlets back where I can
Im wanting to do this but my kitchen is only 2yrs old so my countertops are brand new. I have quartz and love them. My question is I would have to replace the countertop no mater what right?
Good call man!
Thann you! Cheers!
Looks good and just what I'm wanting to do but I would have liked keeping 4 the plugs. Is that possible. I'm dealing with the same problem and don't have enough food prep surface available.
My wife and I had the same fear... After the fact, we don't even notice the plugs being gone. it did not affect anything in our day to day life. Cheers!
Wait, im getting new cabinets as well. Should I install the new cabinets then cut the bar counter then? Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to measure correct?
looks like you had the perfect length recip. saw blade to cut through drywall and studs. what length was the blade?
It was a 5inch blade. Cheers!
We are looking to do the same for the same reasons, but concerned about losing one particular outlet. I hear there's solutions for that though.
I plan on doing the same thing. Hate that counter high bar top. Contractor asking for $2500 just to cut it down
Thank you for this!
Cheers!
Thank god! Someone else hates theirs as much as I hate mine!!
I'm about get rid of my bar as well. I'm 5'1 so the bar is too Tall. I'm thinking this will be easy
Awesome I'm going to try this.
What was the laser level you got? I have to do something similar, but I will end up having to move electric (Sink on the other side)
I ended up scrapping the review of it because it high jacked to much of the core video. Click into the description of the video, i added a link to it. it does the job and was relatively inexpensive. cheers!
What did you do with the electrical outlets?
I appreciate this content! Lmao beer level got me😂 anyways. 15? I was given an initial est of 12. Sounds good but the contact with contractors SUCK and i dont wanna wait months again 😭
Thanks for the video
Cheers!
thanks brother. its time for demo...
Hey quick question. I did this but my cut of the wall wasn't even so things are not gonna be level... Am I screwed or can shims salvage my work? It's maybe an 8th or at worst a quarter inch off-level
I would not sweat it. the countertop will get leveled with shims. Cheers!
@@SebastianBalos thanks buddy. awesome video btw, none like it out there for a project that should be more popular!
I’m wanting to do this exact thing! How much did the countertops cost?
its going to come down to what type of countertops you get. These counter tops are a taj mahal quartzite. Its a natural stone. different from "quartz", which is man made. the total cost for this kitchen was $12,500. cheers!
Awesome video on the removal!
How’d you get the sink sorted out?
The sink was installed by the counter top installers. They took care of that and leveling. Cheers!
Love the commentary 😂😂😂
I actually loved the way it was
How did you get a perfect 90 degree cut with a sawsall?
A Fresh blade and working the angle right will get you close enough. Cheers!
Nice 👍
how much was the counter top without the labor? Just for the bar side...avg?
@@rhondabradfute8866 its to hard to say. The countertop company hides the costs really well. I will say that the installers were a third party hire. So there is a lot of middle man money involved. There are savings to be had on the instal but you would really need to dig.
Where did the outlets go? Did you transfer them to the lower cabinets?
They all got taken out. We live without them and its not a big deal. Cheers!
I am going to do this to my kitchen, it’s much smaller than yours. But I will have to use my outlets, can you advise where you would put them? I moved one box when I broke down a wall, I’d love to show you if you wouldn’t mind providing advice?
Well, miler lite is my cool pop of choice and I'll supply that if you come do my countertop.
lol, I can barely build up enough energy to do my own projects these days! cheers!
I think it's time to make a video and see how that loctite adhesive works or not on that outside hybrid fireplace
Lol.. because I was thinking about the same deal in my backyard
I like ur vedios .
Did the same thing to my home. You’re lucky you had no copper water pipes running through your raised bar like I did! Ugh such a pain! Had to pex pipe it all since it was inside drywall so no sodering could be done inside drywall without high risk of a fire. So worth all the work though! My 20 year old home looks so much more modern! Cracked a few beer throughout the whole project too lol. Cheers!
about to move to an older home with these hideous kitchen bar top counters. about how much would this cost to hire someone to do??
you situation might be different but in my case the countertop installer wanted $1500 to just cut out the bar top.
@@SebastianBalos thank you!
We just got a quote and you were spot on at $1500! ^^ @@SebastianBalos
how much did the quartzite cost compare to quartz
The quartzite is a very superior material in my opinion. Its more expensive but not to much more depending on the “stone”. It has a much winder range of cost.
Gosh I hope my counter is as easy to get off....it's granite tho 🙃
AWWWW no I just move from a singe to a double lol
CONTROL ALT DELETE.. lol
$17😮😮😮😮😮
Come do mine
I liked it better before.
Love the f bombs
I appreciate the video on how to do this but could definitely do without the bad language. T hid should be a professional video but your language made me leave it!
The title is rated by skill level in beers. Your expectations are ridiculous. If you don’t like foul language, find a channel that doesn’t engage in things you don’t like.
I appreciate your input, but yea, in reality I do have a part of this channel that wants to push the censorship culture boundries. It's gone to far. This video, amongst others doing the same thing pays pennies from UA-cam! If you want a Hollywood production follow Home Depot. Again, appreciate the time you took to comment. Cheers, Happy New Year, and I hope your project ends up well!
Ok Karen. Thanks for letting us know.
My search this morning was to find a video of exactly what your project is and really enjoyed it from beginning to end. To all of the comments you have received about your foul language I say F*%# them. You are you g projects in your own home with your own hands and also helping others who may want to do this also. Now, about the beers! My husband and I looks at a project and de use if it’s a 6pm job, 12pk job or who knows a 36pk for a whole weekend. I enjoyed your video and will. Heck out other projects you may have done.
