You are the best I've seen. I was a Teamster truck driver for 36 years and after retiring early I got bored and started my own handyman business. I just wish I had seen you work during that time. I am now fully retired but love fiddling around the house. Your videos still come in very handy for me to refer to. Thank you:
Really appreciate your careful & thoughtful work. We need the exact cutting down of our split level kitchen countertop, after watching this, makes my mind feel more at ease that it can be done! Just a matter of finding someone to trust to do it well
Thank you so much. I have a similar "counter" that I want to cut down but although I have significant rough carpentry experience (framing 7 houses) was a little nervous about this job in my own home but after watching you I feel that I can tackle it. Thank you.
I have the exact kitchen counter top and I have been considering to do the exact change. Great video! I don't think I'll do this job anytime soon because with all the plumbing.. but this video is really helpful. Thank you!!
Phillip Keefover : Hey Phillip good luck with the property management! I too was inspired by The Handyman and was the thinking of starting a property management service in Dallas Ft Worth. I’d appreciate any insight or wisdom you have to pass on concerning the business and if not, no worries. Good luck! David
Do it legally. Licensed and insured you will get more work then the guy in a van. Watch your pricing. Not too high. And never to low. Good luck. It’s hard at first. Just start making contact with landlord associates.
Looked good when you got it finished. The texture matched exact looked like to me. I used that Homack spray texture when I renovated my family room (late 60's paneling had to go). Mine was just sprayed on, no knock down and it came out pretty good.
Nice job! I've done similar jobs but only had a circ saw, a sawzall and an oscillating tool. You just convinced me to buy a grinder to get clean drywall cuts! Thanks for another great pro video HandyMan!!
Hey dude, great video as usual. I see the trustee vest was being used once again. I just got mine last week and I love it. Now my co-worker wants one also..lol
Great video and nice work. I like the 'Magic The Handyman' moment when you make water flow with the wave of a hand. That IS a really cool sink they have. I've never seen one with the drain rods like that. I will have to figure out how to use instagram.
Surprised you dont put down dropcloths. I was cringing when you were pulling the dishwasher. Finished product looks great, drywall patches blend in perfectly.
Great video! Getting new granite and this is something that we are thinking about doing. Now I know exactly how it needs to be done. What area do you work in?
Love your videos. Very informative. I am semiretired and have a small HM BIZ. I would like to see a video on your record keeping. That area is a struggle for me and I suspect for many hands on guys. God bless and thank you for your videos.
Good work! Must be odd being the side worker on such projects especially when you are used to being the leader? Renos done by homeowner can be daunting and hard to follow at times. Good work on the plumbing and counter top. The knock down is where I expected to be the problem but it turned out perfect, no transitions!
Great video, I am doing the same thing to a home we have in Arizona... A questions for you, what tool are you using to cut the dry wall away from the studs and also what tool/saw did you use to cut the studs 1 1/2' down within the drywall to put the 2" x 4" cap on top of existing wall studs? Would appreciate a timely response, I am traveling to our AZ home in a few weeks to prep the kitchen for the new countertop. Thanks in advance and keep up the great work and video's...
How much would a job like this cost? 6-10,000? I’m in the fort Bragg NC area looking to buy a home but the kitchen needs this done. Same amount of space being done.
Here’s a question. What do you do about pricing when you quote a job for X$. Then you get in there such as the sink drain. And realize you have to move the dishwasher and make a new hole and add 1-3 hours extra of work for unexpected problems. Not necessarily in this situation because you make it seem “easy and painless” but in any project where you gave them a quote then you run into bigger problems. What do you do, just eat the loss or go back to the costumer. Or have something built in to the quote? Would love to hear how you handle it. You’re awesome!!!
What happened to the end that had you do the knock down texture to it? What did i miss...and seeing how you dealt with and fixed the plumbing would’ve been cool
Not including the counter top. I would charge $750 to cut the wall down, relocate the outlet and do all the drywall repairs. Not all are as easy as this one. It is a easy diy project you can do it if you have the tools.
The Handyman . Thanks and btw, why did you attach the 1/4” plywood on top of 2x4? Reply only when if you have time. I’m a subbed fan either way. Thanks
Depends on your countertop choice but to pay someone to do this work including relocating outlets and such around 500 to 750ish + the cost of the countertop
@@CoolHand24 I was wondering that also. I am doing a similar remodel and am planning to have the granite right on top of the 2x4. I am not sure why the plywood was necessary. @The Handyman, please reply.

Great job Handy from the past 👍
I like how you cut the wall studs down 1 1/2" inches below the drywall for your top plate, without disturbing the rock. Great job.
That was excellent

Thanks, Your comment inspires me to keep making videos.
I really can appreciate how meticulous you are and how you make sure you respect your clients... That's rare anymore

You always do a great job I could watch your videos all day thank you so much for your videos

Hey just wanted to thank you. Your video inspired me to start my own company doing property maintenance. Phillip. APL Services.

Phillip Keefover Thank you Sir!
You did great work. It looks great.
Thanks
Im tired of you making everything look so easy, lol. Beautiful work!!
Fast and fun , u are very methodical in your work , I aspire to be like this on a day to day .

Amazing to me this is "handyman work"
This is full on home remodel work
Nice job! I've done similar jobs but only had a circ saw, a sawzall and an oscillating tool. You just convinced me to buy a grinder to get clean drywall cuts! Thanks for another great pro video HandyMan!!
A grinder is going to make a LOT of dust. He used the oscillating saw here with a vacuum attached.
Great work.. good explanations..and tidy as you go.
Dude, you are THE MAN! This is amazing work.
Thank you.
Man, you do excellent work.
Would be great if you’d show more about your process, tools and tips
Hey dude, great video as usual. I see the trustee vest was being used once again. I just got mine last week and I love it. Now my co-worker wants one also..lol
Not sure I would have done that, if it were my house......
I've used those Homax products before. Was very satisfied with how they turned out.
Another great and informative video. Thank you, Handyman

I just got on Instagram a year ago. I didn't understand the need for it lol. Everyone is on in now. Its a place to post pictures and videos.
Ok, thanks. I don't know anything about it but I will follow your lead and check it out. I'll start with YOU . hahaha Thanks
Nice job! Thanks for the video.
You did a fabulous job wow
What type of saw did you use to cut the drywall?
Very helpful info we are wanting to do this in our kitchen
Great work ... tools specifics please for the dry wall and frame cut out that u used in video
Great job as always man. Going to start following you on Instagram.

The floor going to be changed out. It has paint all over it.

I use quickbooks online. I use a business debit card for all business purchases Quickbooks and my accountant take care of the rest.
thank you

Ballpark cost for a project around the same size?

Did you encounter a loop vent and if so did you cut it down to fit?
I've watched easily 20 of your videos last night. Great videos!!
Also, do you ever show any work done on your own house?
I would if it needed work. I don't have any videos of the house I live in. There are a few of my rental house.
Smiling... This is super fun
You do really good work brother
Please come to Sherwood AR and do this exact job for me.
We’re they replacing the floor as well,if not , why no protection?
How about if I have Granite? Can cut down and use existing granite from high bar???
Great video, but wish you showed us when you put the black counter top on.
How much would a job like this cost? 6-10,000? I’m in the fort Bragg NC area looking to buy a home but the kitchen needs this done. Same amount of space being done.
Great job!!
Is there any way to do this with a granite counter and bar WITHOUT replacing the entire countertop? TIA!
I want to know the same thing!
I have an extremely tall countertop maybe close too 41/2 feet in height.. I prefer split level. How to cut down some of the cabinet.

All my bid have room for some extra work. If it gets more than what I accounted for I submit a change order to the customer.
great work
Nice work......what did the labor cost on that...can you post that in your videos so we get a ballpark figure of what a particular project cost?
I only did the cutting of the wall and the plumbing. A granite fabricator did the top and mounted the sink to the top. I think I charged around $800.
What happened to the end that had you do the knock down texture to it? What did i miss...and seeing how you dealt with and fixed the plumbing would’ve been cool
The repair is where the old wall holding up the old high counter was.
Courious about venting and air gap your local code and retrofit. Would have helped to show rest of plumbing.
Amazing. How much would you charge for something like this? Im trying to do the same and don’t wAnt to get ripped off.
Not including the counter top. I would charge $750 to cut the wall down, relocate the outlet and do all the drywall repairs. Not all are as easy as this one. It is a easy diy project you can do it if you have the tools.
Nice work
interesting plumbing
Hey Handyman, just went and looked at Instagram.....sorry, I'm too old to get it.
Love the vids
never thought silly string would be good for home design
Hey Handyman, what is the name of the tool used to cut the studs 1 1/2” below the top of the sheet rock?
Multi tool
The Handyman . Thanks and btw, why did you attach the 1/4” plywood on top of 2x4? Reply only when if you have time. I’m a subbed fan either way. Thanks
How can you fix a concrete countertop? Do to a wrong height?
How much would it cost to hire someone to do this?
how much does this usually cost?
No air gap on the dishwasher drain? You risk dirty dish sink waste water back filing into dishwasher .
How to contact you
Looks like dsp's condo kitchen.
man i was worried but at 3.55 there he was handyman with dogs
That was Stella the french bulldog.
No floor protection?
Floor is being replaced Its damaged and covered in paint.
curious on how much leveling a split counter top would cost on average? anyone know?
Depends on your countertop choice but to pay someone to do this work including relocating outlets and such around 500 to 750ish + the cost of the countertop
I seemed to have missed a section? A new counter top appeared so suddenly?
Was probably supplied and installed by someone else.
Damn UA-cam really wants us to search Stihl batteries
All the ads I'm seeing are for ridged tools and getting free batteries.
You skipped how to move the faucet and level the counter
Look like you cut it below the rest of the counter
I like the split... Too bad it had to go
But the after looks good as well
Put some protection covering on the floor,be professional.
No can stuff
What is that on top of the 2x4s at 3:11 ?
Plywood
The Handyman whats the reason for that?
@@CoolHand24 I was wondering that also. I am doing a similar remodel and am planning to have the granite right on top of the 2x4. I am not sure why the plywood was necessary. @The Handyman, please reply.
Wondering same thing about plywood on top of the 2x4 plate.
