Just took my A8 exam today and passed. I learned a lot through your videos. So thank you so much.
CONGRATULATIONS! 🎉🎉 Welcome to the club! I’m super excited I was able to help you, which one is next?
@@MasterAutomotiveTraining not sure yet. Maybe retake my HVAC for the 3rd time.
What book did your study ?
I just passed my A8, and I have to say your videos played a BIG part in my passing. THANK YOU.
I want to add to those studying now also using the Delmar and Motorage study guides, the test I took had no questions on it about old style distributor caps, points, ignition modules, vacuum controlled EGR valves, old school secondary air systems etc. it was modern day performance you would find on a car 2010 and newer.
"old school secondary air ":_;
just took it and failed but can confirm its more newer stuff than older, i wish Delmar and motor-age could focus more on the newer stuff, especially reading wiring diagrams and scope/graphs.
So whats the best study guide to use for more updated stuff on the test? I'm taking mine next month. Or is just watching videos like this helpful
@@johnholladay9769 i have mine on january 17th, how did your test go?
Hey Oscar! Passed my A6, and A7 last week! Got A4,A5,A6,and A7 now. Working on X1 exhaust systems and then A8 !
Keep it up!
Passed A8, spring 2024. These videos were great for getting into the right mindset leading up to the test. The test is fully up to date, no questions about OBD1, distributor ignition, or carbs. Very few questions about exhaust gas, vacuum gauge reading, or AIR. LOTS of questions about P0300 diag, leakdown testing, HO2S, engine management sensors, VCT, and GDI.
Just want to give you a big shout out and thank you. I failed a8 by one question my first go at it. I passed it today to get my first master. So thank you Sir! Your video was very helpful
Congratulations man, I'm glad I was able to be part of your Master Tech Journey!
Did you use this video alot?
Man I just stumbled on your channel. And I love this, I’m here to learn and study for my ASEs but too also grow as a tech. And your humility and passion for teaching the rest of us is very inspiring.
I took my Ase a6 yesterday (June 22) thanks for you videos, I can say confidently say you helped me pass!
You are great at explaining these systems, don't let anyone tell you different!
Watched this video four times and took notes on everything I can and pass my A8 because of your teachings! Thank you 🎉
Much respect to you and thank for your knowledge
Responding to your quote, toolboxes have wheels for a reason____that's an excellent use of humor and a terrific way to get a point across. Nice work!!!!!!
I just took my A8 today (nov. 2022) and PASSED! This video helped me tremendously! deff watch and rewatch this video! Great job and look forward to more of your videos!

Congratulations buddy! You are very welcome! Which ASE is next?
I love your videos, you've help me with many reviews and refreshers, when can we expect an A1 review? Thank you taking such a passion and putting in the effort in your videos!
You are very welcome, we are working on remaining A-series reviews for later this year. Stay tuned.
You should do more of these. You’re an excellent instructor.
Thank you for your kind comment. We are working on more.
Thanks man for all the info! Just took my A8 and passed and this info was 100% helpful! Would love to see you come up with a class for A2 cause that one is definitely challenging
You are very welcome, we are working on remaining A-series reviews, stay tuned.
Brakes are too hard
I have my test coming up in a few weeks. I'm gonna listen to this video like a podcast on my way to and from work. I'll be back in a month with the results!
U pass?
Thank u bro for all your contributions I wanna fix cars ur showing the road using simple test good for someone who can to afford fancy equipment
Thank you. You are excellent.
Toyota tech here! Need my A6 to get certified and unlock the ability to fix recalls. Super excited about what I found here with your channel today. Love this channel already
Thank you for your support buddy! Let’s get you that A6 ASE!
This is Gold!!
Thanks sir, great job.
I took the A8 for the first time and passed on oct 10th. I work as a line tech at a firestone so ive had a good deal of experience. There are electrical diagrams. I didn't watch the entire video before i took to the test but after passing it and coming back and vaguely remembering question, I can definitely tell yall that this video is good stuff. Under the recommendation of my coworker I mostly used the newest edition Delmar book. I can definitely say the Delmar book is about only 40% useful even though its not even a textbook but a bunch of prep tests with question explanations, because most of the questions are outdated. I think in 60 questions i had like 1 distributor question. Its not even worth a look for a recert.
Thank you for the comment buddy and CONGRATS ON PASSING YOUR A8!
Awesome class!!!!!
All that knowledge but you can’t fix a smoke alarm 😢
Great course! Picking up a lot of good, usable information. Thank you Oscar Gomez...JT
Great video man would love to see more in depth teachings on each different test subject studying now to take my A1-8 tests than L1-L2
My diag class is a detailed on each topic, as this is a review I do with my diag class students as they are required to take the ASE A8 and A6 after taking my class.
i used this video to recert my ase, looking foward to see a5, a2,a3, a7
Thank you, good information
You are welcome! Thank you for watching?
All my other tests and certs have been easy scared a lil for ASE got Snap-On DMM cert, advanced NOCTI pretest, Valvoline oil cert, Ford ACE tire cert but ASE is a mix of easy and hard
Thank you very much for this great video. It is very thorough and informative. 👍
I’m looking to purchase a Picoscope 2204A or 2205A, as they are affordable. Would you recommend these models or the higher, more expensive models.
Thanks for the videos! I found you for my A6 - which I passed 👍🏻
CONGRATULATIONS! I’m super excited I was able to help you pass! Welcome to the club!
@@MasterAutomotiveTraining Thanks man!!!! Taking my A8 Friday, fingers crossed!
@@Just-Casey You got this man!
@@MasterAutomotiveTraining passed bro!
Man can't even diagnose a low battery in that smoke detector. Jk man great video. I am a Nissan master tech and shop forman. Loved the video and subscribed.
Learning all the from Kenya... thank you so much ... Am a self trained tech and I learn a lot from you thanks 👍👍👍
Thank you for watching buddy! Happy to help!
Been studying and watch your videos helped me pass the A6/A8 Thank you. Do you have any videos for the L1
How did you study. And where did u study from?
That smoke alarm beep is killing me . But awesome videos thank you .
Dude strait to the comments I came, i wasn't sure if it was mine lmao
Love you Oscar.
Do you have a A1 Video? Your videos are helpful
Clients should be notified of the extra costs to “verify” a repair and let the clients decide who verifies it.
I’m about to take my A8. Studying with the Delmar guide. The practice tests I’d say are comprised of about 40% of outdated technology; wired ignition coils, pulse air secondary air, etc. Is this what I should expect on the test or is this just because this book was last updated in 2013? And why haven’t they updated?
The A8 is primarily drivability. I am not a big fan of the Delmar books. This is due to them having you memorize Q&A only. I recommend the Motorage books more since they teach the fundamentals, this will allow you to not only pass the exams but will also help you in the shop. Wired coils although outdated the principals are the same thus, the fundamentals come into play. Good luck my friend you got this!
Why would the fuel trim get more lean when a/c is kicked on? Fuel pressure is good. No leaks on intake side
Without seeing other PIDs, I would say it’s due to the added load of the AC compressor. That added load enriches the mixture, PCM sees the fuel, goes lean to compensate.
Do you have any recommendations for studying for the X1 ASE? I haven’t been able to find any good material except for motor age and Delmar and I’m still a little stuck
X-1 is super easy I just took it and passed. You'll need a good understanding of 5-gas and exhaust tube bending.
I really appreciate the video! That smoke detector beeping in the background is so distracting to me. Not considering the topic of diagnosing lol
Take the multimeter & check the voltage on that smoke alarms battery
The A6 was grrreat... I passed first try!
Congratulations! Which is next?
I want the A1 next... Could you maybe do a vid on the A1? Wonderful content as always🔥👍🏾
Someone needs to diagnose that smoke detector lol
Is it possible to make a review for ASE A4? By the way thank you because of your A6 Review I passed my Certification!!
Congratulations buddy! We will be doing a complete series from A1-A8 by years end.
@@MasterAutomotiveTrainingit's been a year since you said this and i can't find anything other than A6 and A8. (passed A6 already from your videos, A8 in a couple weeks)
You have an extremely minor typographical error at 24:04 on the slide General Diagnosis, in the line "Engine vacuum should be steady at 18-22 " hg (17-21 ' hg). I'm sure you don't mean 17 to 21 feet of mercury.
im not even 10 minutes in and that smoke detector beep is so annoying. they beep for a reason, replace your batteries. Thank you for the information on the A8 though, I am much more confident going into the test tomorrow.
44:09 so its a false lean condition because it has the high HC?
Yes, also using C02 you can see it’s lowered indicating a misfire, fuel isn’t being consumed thus allows oxygen back out the tail pipe, making it look as it was lean.
Failed by 2 not a single question on there regarding anything with 5 gas
Okay I must have missed it and can't find it anywhere. What is an RC test? I've searched and can't find what it is.
Auto lingo, RC Test is a relative compression using an oscilloscope connected directly to the battery or using a high amp probe to run a general test to determine if you might have a low compression cylinder, to let you know you need to run mechanical tests. Did that make sense? ua-cam.com/video/ZiLw0mg7DZQ/v-deo.html
Got a 34/50 😭 1 point away from passing
Pull the code on your smoke alarm and do a proper diag it
I’m sure the ASE will test you on that. Thanks for watching.
The test has been updated because there was prob 20 questions of wiring diagrams of ignition systems, these need to be added in
Would these questions be similar to the Canadian red seal 310s ?
I've been using it as a study guide . I have learned a alot from your videos
Seems the 310s is the same as our ASE G-1 Maintenance & ASE A8 Engine Performance. This video will help with the Engine Performance part.
I'm going to show 16:00 to my arresting officer when I'm pleading my case.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 don’t think they’d let you off the hook!
Other resistance is the cop
what do RC stand for?
Great question, it stands for relative compression test. This is a general test that allows you to see quickly if a misfire might be a mechanical problem. ua-cam.com/video/w8CyhpWXG5E/v-deo.html
Whats the passing score for A8?
33 correct.
will this video help me pass my smog tech STATE EXAM?
It should, as this is a review with my CA students. Not sure what your instructor covered with you, but this is a part of what you should have learned, minus the electrical portion. Here I also didn't do a full 5 gas review, like we do in class.
@@MasterAutomotiveTraining I took the state exam but failed bad, my instructor's were bad in my opinion i didnt recognize anything in the state test. you recommend your $299 test to help me pass?
how long can I practice the 299 test for? is it for me to keep?
@@classy6211 man, I am sorry to hear that, I dislike when instructors cut corners and let the studnets suffer. My crash course is not for the repair exam, it is only for the smog inspector exam. Is that one you are taking?
@@classy6211 You'll have lifetime access once you purchase.
I hope you changed you smoke detector battery.
I like living life on the edge lol I did
