When you do your oil, you’re going to feel silly for paying to get it done (if that’s what you were doing before) when you see just how damn easy it is. With a little bit of practice, u can get it done in 30 mins. Just make sure you don’t tighten the drain plug and the oil filter too tight after draining it. It’ll give u an unnecessary headache the next time u go to do ur oil.
@@mattyicee I like to add, only tighten the oil filter by hand, never with an oil filter wrench. Put some fresh oil on the filter gasket and give it a quick spin on the threads until it seats the gasket to the engine. Then put a mark on the filter body facing straight down towards the floor. Now when you start to hand tighten the filter, about 3/4 turn, you can see where your mark comes around the the 3/4 position.

This has got to be one of the best technical videos about how an engine works. I could let my 12-year-old nephew watch this, and he would understand this. Keep up the amazing videos!!
I feel like I've always had a basic understanding of all this components but only at different times in my life, enough to forget. Seeing all of them explained back to back like this made it feel like everything "clicked" for me. I'm not sure how else to express this but seeing y'all bring everything together like this in such a succinct, cohesive manner helped so much. I can only imagine this was 99 takes so thanks so much for your hard work in making this explainer, y'all crushed it!!!
From a guy who knows very little about engines but wants to fix what he can without the bringing it to the shop, this was so helpful in giving me the basics.
One word: Impressed! Really you nailed it and this was HUGE. This video needs to be seen in every mechanical training. Thank you all for your hard work, this will become a goto classic!
I kid you not. 3 hours ago, I litterally was thinking about how much I knew of all the parts in an engine and then I see this video on my feed. Thanks guys!
FINALLY someone explains it in an easy, concise and thorough manner. I almost feel like sometimes this information is kind of gate kept tbh and it’s refreshing to see a real professional explain things with the actual parts and full explanation. Thank you!
This is legitimately impressive. A fantastic performance all around. This sort of thing is _not_ easy to pull off, especially with the unbroken transition shot during the ad read. This is some God damn fine work, gentlemen.
That is one of the best and most creative videos I have ever seen on UA-cam. The level of planning, choreography and persistence to make this video is insane. Congratulations, Top tier content!
This was amazing. You can tell these guys know what they’re talking about. Im going to go back and watch this several times over so I can really visualize it all. Wicked good stuff.
This was a really detailed and impressive breakdown of an engine and its various systems, while keeping it simple enough that almost anyone would be able to understand. I’m no professional mechanic but I’ve done all my own work on my car for several years now through trial and error along with plenty of helpful UA-cam videos. So it’s pretty safe to say that I know a lot more than the average person knows about cars, suspensions, various systems like cooling and power steering, and even a little bit about engines, though I’ve yet to do any serious work on an engine. But I definitely learned a few things from this quick and easy to follow video. This is a great video for an overall view of everything that makes an engine work. Good job guys. I appreciate the effort y’all put into this.
This was legitimately awesome guys. Despite all the departures, there's still clearly a ton of people who care about making quality content at Donut. Congrats on a super well executed video!
This is 100x better then those flight instruction videos. "please strap mask to your face to make sure you don't die" and I still fall asleep while listing to it. This is a piece of educational content I pray they show in school's.
Excellent overview for us wannabe mechanics. Reminded me of a video I watched my first day of developmental anatomy in medical school. Lots of new vocabulary and ideas which didn’t make sense to me. We watched it again at the end of the course and somehow it was all so clear.
for someone like me who’s just getting into cars/bikes and engines so that i can better take care of my motorcycle, and car for that matter, this type of video is so helpful because even if im not doing work on my own vehicles, it’s nice, especially as a woman, to at least have a little bit of knowledge about how things work so that i can confidently accept or decline anything a mechanic says i might need. for the most part i’ve never run into any issues, but i know there are shady mechanics who will take advantage of those of us who don’t know everything about cars, and donut has definitely helped me understand what mechanics are talking about and also how to do some things on my own that i couldn’t before. this style of video is so helpful for me so that even though i still won’t be working on my own car/bike, i at least know what a lot of the important things are and what they do so i can take better care of my stuff and not feel helpless when i go to a shop.

If it is a wipe cut then it must just be for getting the sponsored segment timed correctly or so Jeremiah doesn't have to walk to the bathroom and back every take lol.
@@mattyiceeI think people like you who change their own oil are silly. lol.
First you gotta go buy 4-8 quarts of oil, and a filter. Thats 50-60$ just right there. Secondly you gotta jack up your car and get a little messy. Thirdly, after you wash your hands with special soap you gotta dispose of the oil properly by driving it somewhere for them todo for you. All while saving 20$ instead of going to oil stop where they do everything for you and give you a beverage while you wait 45min for them.
You guys wanting to change your own oil are so edgy.
@@mattyiceenot to mention having all the tools necessary for everything stated above like we are damn mechanics. lol. Just go pay to get your oil changed ur not that cool lol.
Also loving learning and having videos like this to make it a lot easier!
THIS is why we started watching Donut!!! Get back to this more often PLEASE.
Thanks!
Best Donut video I've seen in a very long time. Somewhere, Bart is smiling.
Could’ve easily done this with cuts and it still would’ve been a top notch video, but the fact you did it in one take with no flaws is on a completely different level! Learned a lot
I don't know how to express how God tier this video is. You guys killed it from the info, the pacing, production, humor, technicality. All of it. You guys killed it, you should be proud. We'll see you in the next one
I've known these things for years, but I couldn't stop watching. Masterful presentation, UA-cam Gold!
whoever decided to show a small video of jeremiah walking to the fountains and peeing in them is literally the best way to retain viewership while playing ads, this is one of the first times I ever stayed till nearly the end of the ad without even noticing. Genuinely insanely smart. Props to the writer for that one jesus. I'm an editor and creative for a youtuber. I have never thought of this idea, and will be stealing it from now on. LMAO thanks Donut
Bro I was just going to say this. They know how to keep the adhd people entertained 🤣
Love it
I'm pretty sure Jerry handled this one..
And He Washed His Hands!!! Good Boy!
why do yall not have sponsorblock in 2024 lmfao
Might be the best video
Donut has done. Blew me away, the editing, all this in one shot, Jeremiah explaining while they’re actually putting the engine together as he’s explaining the part they’re putting in, this was super impressive and this was very informative
except its an old video cause jeremiah hasnt worked there for a while

Jimmy's face when demonstrating the rotating assembly was f***ing priceless 🤣
This is probably the best technical video Donut has ever made.
This video is going to help millions of people, they should show this in shop classes.
Educational videos like this are always great. Love the editing on this, keep it up guys!
Hey did you know james has a new channel. Speeed with 3e

Best information ever!!
This is the Ong-Bak of engine explained youtube videos.... a damn masterpiece that will be studied for years.
As a martial artist and car guy, I approve this message
I get the reference! I get the reference!
Great refrence!
I’m 30 years old and just finally understand an exactly how an engine works and what each part does! Thank you for this video! I feel a million times more confident about cars now

That was honestly one of the best videos I've seen from Donut in a while. Great concept, awesome execution, and no one use the sink at Donut HQ. You've been warned.

The other guy who is previously with donut and now he's not has a new channel called speeed with 3 e's. James did not get a plug at the end of a donut video like big time so everybody should go help them out.

Educational, entertaining. Hat off to the Donut team
This is the best car video I've ever watched in my life, and I must have watched literally thousands of these. Well done, guys, what a fantastic job. This is a gift to the car community worldwide, and a reminder that, regardless of what has been said and written about them lately, Donut is here to stay. And thank the car gods for that.

Our beloved James has a new channel called Speeed. He just posted a video on why he left donut media. Currently at 173k views. Let’s support our guy!
This has got to be one of the best technical videos about how an engine works. I could let my 12-year-old nephew watch this, and he would understand this. Keep up the amazing videos!!
As a mechanical engineering student, i must say this video is a no nonsense, pure technical stuff. Thanks a lot. Really loved it
Donut proving they're still good? I'm here for it. This video rocks.
Bravo; This is actually one of if not the best simple core to fundamentals walk-through of a modern ICE. It covers the subject well, for only 15 mins.
When they all started getting out, then donut immediately making old themed videos 😂

Easily the best Donut Media in a video in awhile. So much effort was put in between the choreographing to scripting and it shows.
I kid you not. 3 hours ago, I litterally was thinking about how much I knew of all the parts in an engine and then I see this video on my feed. Thanks guys!
proof you are living in a simulation
FINALLY someone explains it in an easy, concise and thorough manner. I almost feel like sometimes this information is kind of gate kept tbh and it’s refreshing to see a real professional explain things with the actual parts and full explanation. Thank you!
Gotta love Jimmy blowing the game catridge, real 90s kid 😅 13:09
I thought the exact same thing!
I feel like I’m watching an airline instruction video before the flight
This is 100x better then those flight instruction videos. "please strap mask to your face to make sure you don't die" and I still fall asleep while listing to it. This is a piece of educational content I pray they show in school's.
The nearest exit might be behind you
Excellent overview for us wannabe mechanics. Reminded me of a video I watched my first day of developmental anatomy in medical school. Lots of new vocabulary and ideas which didn’t make sense to me. We watched it again at the end of the course and somehow it was all so clear.
for someone like me who’s just getting into cars/bikes and engines so that i can better take care of my motorcycle, and car for that matter, this type of video is so helpful because even if im not doing work on my own vehicles, it’s nice, especially as a woman, to at least have a little bit of knowledge about how things work so that i can confidently accept or decline anything a mechanic says i might need. for the most part i’ve never run into any issues, but i know there are shady mechanics who will take advantage of those of us who don’t know everything about cars, and donut has definitely helped me understand what mechanics are talking about and also how to do some things on my own that i couldn’t before. this style of video is so helpful for me so that even though i still won’t be working on my own car/bike, i at least know what a lot of the important things are and what they do so i can take better care of my stuff and not feel helpless when i go to a shop.

so cool that you're doing a collab with big time.
This the content we want guys! Tech talk with a Donut twist. A lot of videos coming from Donut lately have felt purposeless, but this is an improvement.
guys! way to go, well put together! this is how you do impressive things. This really shows the talent of your host. Being able to single take something that long is very hard.
honestly I hope yall get more than your moneys worth with this video, truly shows the skill to teach without skipping a beat on top of starting simple to complex of building up the engine. Loved it makes learning so much easier thank you!!
All of this is a single shot is nuts 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
this is an absolute masterpiece in automotive media despite any drama going on with donut currently
Nobody asked for a single take video. Nobody expected it. But Donut did it, and I'm beyond impressed. This video needs to win an award. The only thing that would have made it mind blowing is if the engine ran at the end 😆
This is one of the best UA-cam videos EVER made. Period. It deserves an Oscar.
I love one-ers that have no reason to exist. Pure flex. Wonder how many takes this took
Edit: I think 2:58 behind the poster is a wipe cut
Yeah. I don’t know if they got a new director or something… but those were impressive as hell.
Real real good
If it is a wipe cut then it must just be for getting the sponsored segment timed correctly or so Jeremiah doesn't have to walk to the bathroom and back every take lol. In fact I feel like the part where he is entering the garage again and going behind the poster stand is another cut. Either way wipe cuts or not this is still super impressive and a fantastic video
