I really appreciated Harry's description of all of the NPCs body language and how he described them to the PCs after successful Insight checks. Great DM'ing!
Harry's introduction to the world genuinely brought tears to my eyes. What an incredible storyteller! Amazing first episode, and I cannot wait to see what spoons are created going forward.
I don't know why the name Natural Six is so funny to me (in a good way). I guess I imagine the excitement of someone calling out "Natural twenty!" or the dread of "Natural one!" and then imagine someone having the same level of emotion when calling out "Natural six!"
Unfortunately, that's not how web works. The creatures use the action to make a Str Check against Spell DC. They shouldn't have been able to attack after. It was cool that he was lenient at first, and the second ruling he made was correct. The end result was, unfortunately not. Lol stuff happens though 😂
Web's a tricky one. You make the DEX save to avoid getting stuck and the STR save as an action to escape when you are stuck. But if you're already stuck, no need to make a DEX save. 👍
Don't know any of these folks, but they look like they've done the prep to lead a new generation of actual plays. Really impressive start, but no pressure. Don't burn out!
Great first episode, now I just have to wait for episode 2. Yes there were a few times when rules weren't called exactly right, but, as a GM, i firmly believe that keeping the action going and then checking things afterwards is the best option. Gming is hard but rewarding work, and trying to keep track of every little rule is impossible. As long as everyone playing had as much fun as we did watching it, then consider it a job well done.
"Accidentally very sophisticated clowning" is a superb phrase. Very much enjoyed this episode and looking forward to seeing the rest. I can't help but have Xenoblade on the brain whenever I hear Antiqua though 😅
I'm really enjoying everyone's characters. Kobolds are always fun as player characters. Harry is doing such a great job as the DM and is a wonderful orator. Can't wait for all the future journeys!
With the HighRollers campaign that I watch and now with this, I feel spoilt with D&D goodness! This group is amazing and I cannot wait to watch the journey these characters go on!
@@kyebaker4549 Love CR but C3 isn't what Vox Machina or Mighty Nein were. Hoping C4 is a hit again. Loved Lightfall and Aerois, however Altheya: The Dragon Empire is shaping up to be possibly the best one ever. Highrollers have been hitting it out of the park. Can't wait for them to come on every week.
TYVM for properly representing TTRPG....D&D in essence. Great show and excellent improv and performances. I'm from the land of Dave Arneson(MN) and have played/collected AD&D/D&D all my life and am a huge fan of the material and am proud to witness your show shine. GOOD JOB FOLKS.....KEEP IT UP!
No idea if I’m going to keep watching this long term, but the introduction to the world by the DM was fantastic. Not just the words but the way he read them. Very well done and the whole production looks wonderful.
2:04:26 Web 2 conjuration Casting Time: 1 action Range: 60 feet Target: A point of your choice within range Components: V S M (A bit of spiderweb) Duration: Up to 1 hour Classes: Sorcerer, Wizard You conjure a mass of thick, sticky webbing at a point of your choice within range. The webs fill a 20-foot cube from that point for the duration. The webs are difficult terrain and lightly obscure their area. If the webs aren’t anchored between two solid masses (such as walls or trees) or layered across a floor, wall, or ceiling, the conjured web collapses on itself, and the spell ends at the start of your next turn. Webs layered over a flat surface have a depth of 5 feet. Each creature that starts its turn in the webs or that enters them during its turn must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is restrained as long as it remains in the webs or until it breaks free. A creature restrained by the webs can use its action to make a Strength check against your spell save DC. If it succeeds, it is no longer restrained. The webs are flammable. Any 5-foot cube of webs exposed to fire burns away in 1 round, dealing 2d4 fire damage to any creature that starts its turn in the fire.
it would have been less confusing to them if they had read the entire text. Also if the text had specified that there is no point for an already restrained creature to attempt the dex save. they can choose to use their action to break free, or use their action to continue attacking with disadvantage
I have a chaotic good gnome wizard character named "Soh" (rhymes with "so"). He encounters many confusing conversations with people and leverages the chaos as much as possible.
Seems like there are still some rules to be learned, but the Synergy and creative skill here more then make up for it! If somthing in the game is ever hard to figure out rember you can turn to the comments for an army of D&D players and DMs who love to watch the game get played. We are all here to help and to enjoy!
D&D baybeeee! Absolutely loved this. You guys have struck such a good balance between epic fantasy storytelling and humor. And that ending!!!! Can't wait for the next session!
This seems like an amazing group to play with, everyone seems so into the game and the characters. Can't wait to see where the story goes and to learn more about each character.
Action Surge does NOT require an Action or Bonus Action. Fighters have Second Wind as a Bonus Action. Making an Attack w/ an Off-Hand weapon IS a Bonus Action. Loving the ep so far!
I feel like they should keep the off-hand attack in the main attack action. It's a rule change that just makes Two-Weapon Fighting undeniably better and can even set TWF on par with Great Weapon Fighting, in the sense that where GWF is good for raw damage output, TWF is good for damage variety and hit/crit chance.
Well done everyone, pleased to see Harry sitting on his own thrown of his own kingdom. Love that the mechanics is explained. Rmeemebr that druids can use wildshape slot as a bonus action, but cant cast spells once in wildshape, so always useful to cast concentration spells prior to wildshaping.
Action surge is a special feature you can activate after you've completed an action. It refreshes your action and does not cost a bonus action. The verbiage says, "On your turn, you can take one additional action on top of your regular action and a possible bonus action." meaning you can use a bonus action after you've used action surge if you haven't already used the 1 bonus action you get. Meaning it can look like this: Action - Bonus action - action surge - Action Action - Action Surge - Action - Bonus Action Obviously you can rule this however you want at your table as it's your game. As someone who loves playing fighters, it can sting when action surge is nerfed, even if accidentally.
As someone who only really has a passing interest in D&D (It's something I'd like to try one day) i really enjoyed this. It's funny, at times tense and the developing story and setting are really cool. I'm hooked!
Smiled all the way thru. I don't know why people learning D&D makes me happy, but I can't wait to watch everyone become experts. Also: "Sorry to make it harder for everyone." Lol.
I enjoyed the game, except for some of the rules. Endellion has 18 Str. + 4 and + 2 proficiency bonus that means + 6 to attacks and + 4 to damage. Web spell it takes an action to break out.
My enjoyment of this session is crystalized in the moment of genuine glee that literally everyone at the table seemed to feel when they convinced an NPC to climb a tree in heavy armour. Fun trumps rules, and that goes for playing and watching. Case in point, the combat was fun to watch but it really hinged on that moment when all of the clerics failed to cast healing spells. Absolutely brilliant in-combat storytelling. So far the only D&D long play I can actually watch for the full 2+ hours. Can't wait to watch episode 2.
Already listened to it, but had to watch to see the joy and feeling. So wonderful, thank you for the amazing start and seriously looking forward to the next one! You’re all so enthusiastic and I can’t wait to see where this goes! X
That was properly excellent! This was definitely my favourite D&D live-play-thing; all of the players smashed it, Harry did a wonderful job leading the story (the accents!👌🏻) and the production was basically perfect imo. Can't wait for the rest of the series and hopefully many more if it goes on as it has begun. Really hope this finds the success it deserves. P.s. Is it just me or is vicious mockery the most on-brand spell for Aoife? 😂
it is quite interesting as a DM myself to see players and DMs make mistakes with how mechanics work with spells or abilities or the like. I get frustrated NOT at them but with myself because I cant help. But all I want to do is help because it is more fun knowing how all of your fancy tricks and having that feeling of confusion can sometimes feel awkward at the table because you don't want to get anything wrong. but then i also love seeing people play and learn how to play this wonderful game. I enjoyed this 1st episode quite alot an look forward to more
Really well done, thoroughly enjoyed it. The level of detail of description of what’s going on is excellent. Looking forward to episode 2, which I shall binge shortly, and seeing more of the characters.
Great first episode! I'm a long time DM, and I'm absolutely watching the rest of this for some inspiration! I believe the webspell restrains you, so that you can't move, but you can still attack enemies within your range, with disadvantage. But if you want to move around, you need to use your action to try and break free, and therefore you can't attack afterwards.
So I’ve never played or even watched DnD, my only exposure is a measly 15 hours into BG3. But let me tell you now I am HOOKED. The voice acting on display here is second to none. I can’t wait to see where we go from here!
Been following the work of some of the people but never expected to see them around a DnD table. This first session was amazing, can't wait to see more!
Shenanigans. Beautiful Fairytale backdrop with dark streaks. Gory combat. Fun. Drama, DnD at its best. Thank You for doing this, I will be looking forward to more.
Delved into watching this and a fantastic first episode! Loving all the characters with some great starting dynamics and interesting story. I'm absolutely invested already and looking forward to watching episode 2 and keeping up with it.
Also, 2:23:18 is my FAVOURITE moment of Harry's, and it really shows the vibe of the campaign going forward: He's more than happy to help the players be the badasses they want to be :)
For those scrolling through the comments and happen to be curious about how the characters' stats compare to their Session Zero variants from the Character Creation episode: Doug - STR 15 (14 original + 1 racial bonus) - DEX 16 (15 original + 1 racial bonus) - CON 15 - INT 14 - WIS 19 (17 original + 2 racial bonus) - CHA 9 (7 original + 2 racial bonus) Hollie - STR 18 (17 original + 1 racial bonus) - DEX 15 - CON 11 - INT 8 - WIS 11 (9 original + 2 racial bonus) - CHA 10 Ben - STR 11 - DEX 17 (15 original + 2 racial bonus) - CON 14 (12 original + 2 racial bonus) - INT 16 (15 original + 1 racial bonus) - WIS 12 - CHA 12 (11 original + 1 racial bonus) Alex - STR 13 - DEX 19 (17 original + 2 racial bonus) - CON 14 - INT 14 (13 original + 1 racial bonus) - WIS 9 (8 original + 1 racial bonus) - CHA 12 Aoife - STR 8 - DEX 15 (14 original + 1 racial bonus) - CON 11 - INT 11 - WIS 11 - CHA 17 (15 original + 2 racial bonus) All in all, both Doug and Ben were given (or gave themselves probably by mistake) and entire extra set or racial bonus points, equaling two +1's and two +2's for a total of +6, which is +3 MORE than should've been allowed on their characters. Alex (by comparison) still only had 1 MORE racial bonus point than should've been allowed, however both Hollie and Aoife were the only two players who had the PROPER amount dictated by the rules of character creation in D&D 5th Edition. Although I should point out that Hollie's character's stats are not typical of a human character, since she should've either received a +1 in EVERY stat, or only two +1's along with a free [Feat] which is afforded to the [Variant] Human subrace.
It's the introduction that kept me here, it's the very rest of this video that made me fall in love with all the lovely characters and the setting, the music and the people playing here .. I've been playing TTRPG's for a very long time and what I see here is exactly why I keep coming back for each and every session with my friends, be it as a DM or a player .. keep it up and all the best to you guys! This is so much fun to watch :)
I have enjoyed the beginning of your adventure very much and I am really looking forward to see the rest. Thank you for uploading the video in here and wish you all a very lovely day.

Str check to break out of a Web spell. If still in the area, Dex save at beginning of it's turn or becomes restrained. Web is a really good spell.

You can tell Aiofe is a veteran player.
Check out her dice box 😂
And she takes detailed notes while listening. Yeah, she's definitely a veteran of roleplaying.
Aoife being on the show was one of my biggest draws, since she's a dab hand at this old TTRPG thing already
I love how Ben made a point to have web work as it should, even though it was disadvantageous for them.
I appreciate Harry being willing to give them a break, but I more appreciate Ben being a stickler for RAW.
Don't burn out!
some are actors from big name shows, some are voice actors others work as gaming journalists. you'll know them all in some capacity.
One of them is the voice of Geralt in The Witcher 3. Most of the others I know from PlayStation Access and Eurogamer
I'm just here for the spoons.

Oh my god!! Three of my favourite celebrities are up here!! Let's go!! I discovered y'all late, but I'm here till the end baby. 👍🏽
Finally!!
We had to make sure we had something fitting for that EPIC THEME MUSIC
I'm really enjoying everyone's characters. Kobolds are always fun as player characters. Harry is doing such a great job as the DM and is a wonderful orator. Can't wait for all the future journeys!
30 minutes in, this is a fantastic TRPG session so far, really appreciate you all the community that helped fundraise to make this possible!
With the HighRollers campaign that I watch and now with this, I feel spoilt with D&D goodness!
This group is amazing and I cannot wait to watch the journey these characters go on!
No critical role?
@supersonicfuryx1 Unfortunately, I fell too far behind and with their episodes usually being at least 4 hours long, I've just given up
@@kyebaker4549 Love CR but C3 isn't what Vox Machina or Mighty Nein were. Hoping C4 is a hit again. Loved Lightfall and Aerois, however Altheya: The Dragon Empire is shaping up to be possibly the best one ever. Highrollers have been hitting it out of the park. Can't wait for them to come on every week.
@@jeremyrichey4243 I couldn't agree more 👍
I been watching high rollers as well. The bg3 dnd they did got me into it. Love them and nat six is also hitting out of the park!
The Web is wide. A 20 foot cube, to be exact!
Brilliant!
No idea if I’m going to keep watching this long term, but the introduction to the world by the DM was fantastic. Not just the words but the way he read them. Very well done and the whole production looks wonderful.
2:04:26
Web
2 conjuration
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 60 feet
Target: A point of your choice within range
Components: V S M (A bit of spiderweb)
Duration: Up to 1 hour
Classes: Sorcerer, Wizard
You conjure a mass of thick, sticky webbing at a point of your choice within range.
@@sagov9 PHB spells sometimes need more clarification.
I love that the kobold is called simply "I" :)
hes gonna meet an npc named "U" and theres gonna be some confusion
I have a chaotic good gnome wizard character named "Soh" (rhymes with "so"). He encounters many confusing conversations with people and leverages the chaos as much as possible.
At some point there has to be an Abbott and Costello bit somewhere in the run!
Love the group dynamic, can't wait for more! I think we've got a hit on our hands.
“Quizzical bear gone bye-bye.” Peak Druid nature check!
Seems like there are still some rules to be learned, but the Synergy and creative skill here more then make up for it! If somthing in the game is ever hard to figure out rember you can turn to the comments for an army of D&D players and DMs who love to watch the game get played. We are all here to help and to enjoy!
These miniatures put dnd on another level than im used to.
I don't know why this showed up on my feed, but I'm so excited to see Geralt and Clive playing DnD. Can't wait to see where this goes!
So hyped for this, absolutely loved all the content they’ve done so far and can’t wait to see where it goes from here! The web is wide!
This is riveting - and boy howdy it makes me want a new DnD session
D&D baybeeee! Absolutely loved this. You guys have struck such a good balance between epic fantasy storytelling and humor. And that ending!!!! Can't wait for the next session!
Let's go!!! Congrats on the debut episode!
This seems like an amazing group to play with, everyone seems so into the game and the characters. Can't wait to see where the story goes and to learn more about each character.
A very fun birthday present! Really enjoying the story so far!
Harry was not playing with combat this session. Con check right after combat is wild scary as a player, then casually dropping the god-is-dead gambit
That CON save got a "This is most irregular" from me.
I'm SO READY!! GG guys, cannot wait for the adventure💜

Action Surge does NOT require an Action or Bonus Action. Fighters have Second Wind as a Bonus Action. Making an Attack w/ an Off-Hand weapon IS a Bonus Action. Loving the ep so far!
Also, Action Surge grants an additional Action, but does NOT refresh the characters Bonus Action FYI.
Oh don't get me started on the improvements that can be made to d&d rules lol
Just now came across this, very excited to watch!
Loving it so far, guys! Can't wait to see more.
This group is adorable! The warmth and engagement and humour…I want to hug all of them. I’ll be the big spoon.
Here we go!
The web is wide!
Woo it's here, I'll be catching the VODs uploads due to work making me miss the lives but I'm so excited to see this campaign.
Meaning it can look like this:
Action - Bonus action - action surge - Action
Action - Action Surge - Action - Bonus Action
Obviously you can rule this however you want at your table as it's your game. As someone who loves playing fighters, it can sting when action surge is nerfed, even if accidentally.
I love how amused Doug gets with all the rampant britishisms 😂 Big Nige the wülf garnered a chuckle
As someone who only really has a passing interest in D&D (It's something I'd like to try one day) i really enjoyed this. It's funny, at times tense and the developing story and setting are really cool. I'm hooked!
Omg the intro artwork! Merch of that when
Smiled all the way thru.
Truly amazing story, exquistely told by a fantastic group! Loved it!
The promise of this has been getting me through the day, honestly! And it has not disappointed!
I’m going to wait until I have the time to watch this in its entirety tomorrow, looking forward to it.
Please don't make me fall in love with another wizard
Between Gale and Raidion…oh dear…
@brianj959 yes and the og wizard Raistlin
Wow! What did I just stumble upon. Beautiful story telling. I’m 2 minutes in lol.
Welcome aboard! - Hollie
Glad to be here with you all. Loved the initial episodes.
Ben is correct about the Web spell mechanics.
amazing work on the story telling. the part where the clerics join the fight was so epic
it is quite interesting as a DM myself to see players and DMs make mistakes with how mechanics work with spells or abilities or the like. I enjoyed this 1st episode quite alot an look forward to more
What a great first ep! We were so committed to Morgan - I blame the tree!
Also - spoons is the OG Nat6 meme now 😂😂
DnD channel and a brand new Episode I can follow! exactly what I needed, more spice to my DnD sickness
I've gotten so used to puns in my D&D, I don't know how to adapt to these spoonerisms!
booooo!
Oh, bravo
Really well done, thoroughly enjoyed it. The level of detail of description of what’s going on is excellent. Looking forward to episode 2, which I shall binge shortly, and seeing more of the characters.
Great first episode! I'm a long time DM, and I'm absolutely watching the rest of this for some inspiration!
I believe the webspell restrains you, so that you can't move, but you can still attack enemies within your range, with disadvantage. But if you want to move around, you need to use your action to try and break free, and therefore you can't attack afterwards.
I can finally start this new journey in a world that fashinates me so much, can't wait to see where this is going!
Haven't watched yet, but I kept a close eye since the channel started up. Can't wait to dig in !
I really love the musical scores throughout the story. Brilliant!!
This was brilliant, cant wait for the next episode.
Had a watch party with friends, it was wonderful to watch you all! So stellar, so excited to see this journey unfold
So I’ve never played or even watched DnD, my only exposure is a measly 15 hours into BG3. But let me tell you now I am HOOKED. The voice acting on display here is second to none. I can’t wait to see where we go from here!

Delved into watching this and a fantastic first episode! Loving all the characters with some great starting dynamics and interesting story. I'm absolutely invested already and looking forward to watching episode 2 and keeping up with it.
I love Ben the naming the wolves 🤣🤣
Well we already know he has a bond with wolves.
I never expected Aethelwold would become a DM in the afterlife, but im here for it.
Also, 2:23:18 is my FAVOURITE moment of Harry's, and it really shows the vibe of the campaign going forward: He's more than happy to help the players be the badasses they want to be :)
Coming back to comment on all of the episodes, this makes trip number three through the available ones
For those scrolling through the comments and happen to be curious about how the characters' stats compare to their Session Zero variants from the Character Creation episode:
Doug - STR 15 (14 original + 1 racial bonus) - DEX 16 (15 original + 1 racial bonus) - CON 15 - INT 14 - WIS 19 (17 original + 2 racial bonus) - CHA 9 (7 original + 2 racial bonus)
Hollie - STR 18 (17 original + 1 racial bonus) - DEX 15 - CON 11 - INT 8 - WIS 11 (9 original + 2 racial bonus) - CHA 10
Ben - STR 11 - DEX 17 (15 original + 2 racial bonus) - CON 14 (12 original + 2 racial bonus) - INT 16 (15 original + 1 racial bonus) - WIS 12 - CHA 12 (11 original + 1 racial bonus)
Alex - STR 13 - DEX 19 (17 original + 2 racial bonus) - CON 14 - INT 14 (13 original + 1 racial bonus) - WIS 9 (8 original + 1 racial bonus) - CHA 12
Aoife - STR 8 - DEX 15 (14 original + 1 racial bonus) - CON 11 - INT 11 - WIS 11 - CHA 17 (15 original + 2 racial bonus)
All in all, both Doug and Ben were given (or gave themselves probably by mistake) and entire extra set or racial bonus points, equaling two +1's and two +2's for a total of +6, which is +3 MORE than should've been allowed on their characters.
So so special! Love you all! I can’t wait to get some Natural Six merch ❤
