This is one of the most emotionally moving music videos ever made. The film footage comes from the 1971 movie Johnny Got His Gun (Which Metallica obtained the rights to).
The plot synopsis of the movie (lifted from Wikipedia) I've put underneath.
Joe Bonham (Bottoms), a young American soldier during World War I, awakens in a hospital bed after being hit by an artillery shell. He has lost his eyes, ears, mouth, nose, and limbs, but remains conscious and able to reason, rendering him a prisoner in his own body. As he drifts between reality and fantasy, he remembers his old life with his family and his girlfriend Kareen (Kathy Fields). He also forms a bond of sorts with a young nurse (Diane Varsi) who senses his plight.
Eventually, Joe tries to communicate with his doctors by banging his head against his pillow in Morse code, spelling out "help". He requests for the Army to put him in a glass coffin in a freak show as a demonstration of the horrors of war. When told that this is against regulations, he responds by repeatedly begging to be euthanized.
He ultimately realizes that the Army cannot grant either wish, and will leave him in a state of living death. His sympathetic nurse attempts to euthanize him by clamping his breathing tube, but her supervisor stops her before Joe can succumb. Joe realizes that he will be forced to live out the rest of his natural life in his state of entrapment and is left alone, weakly chanting, "S.O.S. Help me."

I just saw this live in August in Arlington, TX. Front row in the pit. They played two shows that weekend. My 15th and 16th live Metallica shows. Great reaction 🤘

If you want to see the HORROR of this video, watch the movie Johnny's Got His Gun. It tells the story of a young man in WW1 who has his arms, legs and face blown off in the war. It shows how he's being kept alive, (for some reason) so that he can go through HELL on earth because the government won't put him out of his misery. It's both disgusting and telling of how worthless all of our leaders are. He should've been killed for mercy, but no... they kept him alive.
He was a war time experiment. Can a body so devastated live.
It's mentioned in the bits used in the song, the doctor believes that he is brain dead and cannot feel. When they find out he's aware they keep him alive out of a misguided moral sensibility.
I watched it with my WW2 Army infantry Grandfather when I was 14 and that was the night he told me about everything he saw about the Liberation of Buchenwald.
I will always carry a feeling of honor that my Grandfather felt for whatever reason he could talk to someone about what he saw.
He's being kept alive bc back then, assisted self deletion wasn't an option at all. Even today, it's still controversial smh.

Hello ladies 👋. Ya, as a Metal Head for 35 years I can honestly say this one is heavy disturbing. It's hauntingly beautiful and truthful. The tragedy and waste of war. 😔. People don’t realize how dark metalica is enter sandman is about sundden infant death in their sleep and harvester of sorrow is about a man who was abused as a child then he kills his family.

I can't help but notice the endless subscribe animations throughout the video. Subscribe for what ? To see less than 2 minute of low effort "reaction" for one of the most monumental songs + videos ? They should at least admit it that they're really not into this. It's a waste of everyone's time.
Edit: I also can't unsee the fact that this has the SAME EXACT title as the reaction from Rob Squad Reactions. What a shameless cashgrab they're trying to be.
