Studs over bolts. With a stud the threads are fully engaged to the full depth before any load is applied so there is no shearing force as they are being torqued only the tension pulling against all of the threads instead of some of the threads. Additionally the torque is more accurate as there is no twisting of the shaft no separate friction on the threads and head of the bolt. The friction on the nut is much less as it has fewer threads to act against and the resistance is not many centimetres away reducing binding which can cause false torque readings.
Back in the day if you had a GTR (not that I did) and wanted 400kW ATW, you'd drop your car at a workshop with $50k and they'd send out for one of everything a a T66 (or a T88 if you really got conned) and 6 months later you'd have a tits and turbos cover model ready for very occasional use.

Called Duty cycle and Gain "gain" will hold your gate shut until predefined duty is reached in closed loop and sensitivity is for Creep or boost oscillation!
The timing is Dan Andrews? So it did what it had to, to get through a crisis, even though all the selfish components around it behaved like children. Excellent.
Now the RWC, how is it going to effect the EPa rules and air bags and such just wondering that's all? Different is she was only used for drags and not driven on the streets, but if on the st4reets then RWC with electronic and especially the DASH from a FG, i bet you will require a electrical certificate to pass the state regs for a RWC?
No? It's a VS. the car never came with airbags stability control or even abs on this model so electronics are a non issue. The engine fitted to the car is much more advanced than what it came with and retains nearly all the emissions controls. Even with the high flow cat it would be easy to get this car engineered and to pass emissions testing if on ethanol. Only thing it may need is upgraded brakes to pass an engineers report.
I bet my bottom dollar the head casket gives way, mainly because of the power, if anything that's the most important part ,unless they already did that part, but as a 2nd hand engine i doubt it?
Nah mate, hands down the biggest killer of stock bottom end barras is high cylinder pressure bending/throwing rods... Usually from too much ignition timing in the lower rpm. These engines can easily make a shit load of power and torque low in the rpm range but the factory rods cant handle that pressure. Higher in the rpm is usually sweet once the rotating assembly gains some inertia.
Hey just curious, I work as a apprentice mechanic for ford, I see you pulled that timing cover off, did you leave the sealant to dry, I’m hoping so, and thru the magic of editing it just seems like you hoped back in it.
lol exactly what i wanted to know... judging by his body language its a little bit more than George was hoping for to hit the 400kw mark.. its that dinosaur of a turbo holding it back.
Also you need to run a lower thermostat temps with turbo run engines ,so just imagine a F6 typhoon and why they did not have better system getting you hands on a 2nd hand bara and then turbo it ,is just not that simple even if you already have a ford with a barra ,auto needs to be done diff needs to be done tailshaft needs to be done and with fords OE stuff its basically impossible to get new OEM Tailshafts, so its all after market stuff and then it cost a fortune around 50K easy + the cost of the car, like the black G6E FGX turbo with 1,100 odd KW at the rear wheels and the only problem was the stock fuel fuel pump could not keep up and the power steering fluid was over heating, hum now thats with the best of the best stuff done on a barra and FGX G6E turbo, i do not believe a 1,100 RWKW is using a stock ford turbo fuel pump impossible full stop??
It doesn't cost 50k plus to build a powerful Barra.. I've got a built motor, 1500hp+ rated Powerglide in my BF and the haltech ecu and it's cost me about 30k at the most.
Alot of ford guys do it with the engine out... sawft, I got told by alot of people I had to pull the engine out to do heads on a boss... pfft real men leave the motor in
"Where there's a wog there's a way" Hahaha classic Western Oriental Gentleman!
Such a nice straight up guy I would trust him 100%
Love you Holden Prick's, first our 12 slotters rims then our 9"diffs and now our engines.
Yep
I love watching this build . George knows his stuff and the motor singing good
Such a cool car. It's going to make some people pretty surprised. That engine in a big heavy FG is fun, this thing is going to be lethal.
I always consult with my tuna before building a snack.
George double clicks the torque wrench! Quick internet experts, get him!!

George is the best always honest and top workmanship
'While we're here'
The most expensive 3 words I've ever heard
Love how the car looks bone stock and is pretty quiet. Should clean clocks on the street.. love it.
Barra in a commodore gets me moist
keep up the good work guys love it
Fucken love it, Dan Andrews tune "rich and retarded" 🤣🤣🤣
I would own this car in a second, great stuff guys
Make sure you put a 25km radius on that tune George. lol

How far back was this ? Gotta be early 80- 90’s.
I have not watched the video yet but I'm excited to see Luke's face when that Screemer comes on. 😂😂😂😂

“So George, are you pissed off we didn’t just do the valve springs when the barra was on the engine stand?”
Ps. Awesome work guys
Old mate Covid shafted us... 😣
@@fullboost arrange a zoom meeting with the engine and work on it remotely
Ez problem solved :)
Great work! ! Been watching the whole project. Many congratulations. Cheers
Like watching these kinds of builds great job guys
Also be awesome to see in depth how George does the oil pump gears in the car!
so how much time does this save you by not taking the head off and doing valve springs on the bench.. my lower back was hurting just watching this...
Love how you can use Wog over there. In the UK it has a 'slightly' different meaning and you defo can't say it here lol.
This guy is awesome! Im building an E38 BMW Barra- Hope it comes to your shop!
Big biceps George
SO GEORGE!! Love you guys xx
Screamers forever
The Dan Andrews tune 😂😂😂👌🏻
You pulled the cover, dropped the rad and still didn’t change the gears! What happened to not woging it
Perfect stealth, you’ll chop lots of unsuspecting fools 👍😁
Next on project nomang
Forged pistons and H beam rods
I remember when you could buy a stage 3 Bathurst 6000 yella terra head for a 202 😂
hey guys, run the factory fuel sender in the tank and you'll clear the fuel fault and all your trip computer and fuel left to empty works sweet
I just want to see and here it do skids already!!!
The barras are somthing else
I love this channel...
Called Duty cycle and Gain "gain" will hold your gate shut until predefined duty is reached in closed loop and sensitivity is for Creep or boost oscillation!
The VW guys 😂😂😂
Love the boot of the VN SS as a work bench 😂
Always love barra-dores!!!
Great build great guy , informative video
Good work boys
How did you get that G6E cluster in there and are how many kms does the VS have now? Judging from the cluster clip at the start it has 177*** kms
The original cluster was basically the same mileage.
George doesn’t know the real principal why a stud is better then a bolt
Should try the pulsar turbos out 👌 good bang for buck
Yessss, the alloytec!!!!!!
The timing is Dan Andrews? So it did what it had to, to get through a crisis, even though all the selfish components around it behaved like children. Excellent.
No, its retarded 😂, go lucky politicians boots elsewhere mate, hopefully they give you some more rules to follow.
Great video boys 👌
Love the build !!!
Teflon Dan smooth with a Booster that wont give you a heart grab. lol
When are you guys going to fool around with alloytecs?
I miss the ending comment from George.."as always...no mang"
🤣🤣🤣 “Dan Andrews lock down tune”

what happened to the VF upgrades my dudes
So George... Bit redeye mate! Pubs open again or bulk lattes? Lol
400KW WOW 😍
So George..........
I got nothing
Ohh my god yuleh, that is so fully hectic.
Don’t need a Barra for power alloytec can run 6.5s in 2005 a ly7 ran 6.52@215mph in Chevy cavalier!
In the videos the motor always looks like it’s not running straight. Not sure if it’s an illusion. Like the drivers side is slightly more forward
Yep they all look like that 👍
Beast.
I bet my bottom dollar the head casket gives way, mainly because of the power, if anything that's the most important part ,unless they already did that part, but as a 2nd hand engine i doubt it?
Won't the head studs sort that though?
i think rodney will come say hi before the headgasket haha
It's a $300 engine so it's not really worth worrying about. 👍
@@fullboost hang on, not 2k? 🤪

85

How much for this same build
who isn't gonna limi bash a turbo barra tho
What timing?
should of told us what toque spec your doing everything would of been helpful info
What is conservativish timing?
lol exactly what i wanted to know... judging by his body language its a little bit more than George was hoping for to hit the 400kw mark.. its that dinosaur of a turbo holding it back.
Being my first green top I'm playing with, I had to take baby steps.
Would this need to be engineered to pass rego?
No no not at all! It's super easy to get this result! 😉(of course it bloody does)
With that power to weight there’s not much it won’t pass 😂😂😂
What’s with the Ford speedometer.
The car is running the Ford dash cluster. The factory Holden one is awful.
10 second 2k barra
Timing is stil dan andrews. LOL
The only way to make a Holden fast.... fit a Ford engine
So George...
Should have turbo a ecotech v6
Nope. The i6 barra is way superior
V6 powered AU coming up next!
@@fullboost This I wanna see!
Nah Starfire 4
20k Barra :)

Cylinder 6 the fun one in a Falcon, no mang seems further forward/less overhang from the wiper/vents.
Or learn to tune yourself
Probably shouldn't bring politics to a car channel. Dan has made mistakes but kept us safe. Good bye
Throw your TV in the bin!
I agree good call. Dans is alright
