man this makes me so excited. After watching your channel i ordered a crossfire pro and its due to arrive in a couple days! definitely coming back to this video for the cut speeds on different metal thickness. Thank you mike!
The drawing video would be great! I've had one for a month now and still can't draw out a simple part. Gets so frustrating that I give up. Thanks for all the good content.
I am new to welding and cutting and your videos helped me in a great way. About two months ago, the "welding guy" backed away from my gate project and I couldn't find anyone to do the project as fast as I needed it, so I started watching videos and reading books and I built my gate on my own even better than what I wanted it to be. Since then, here I am watching more videos :) and getting all kind of welding equipment and because your video inspired me very much, I ordered one of these tables using your promo code and I saved $100. I really appreciate how you explain pros and cons about everything and I am about to try tig welding. I probably wouldn't bother with it, but after watching your video about it, I feel like I have done it already :). Anyway, your videos are great. Thank you Mike.
I ordered the crossfire table because of you! It's due to arrive tomorrow (7 weeks+). I did use your code for the $100 savings. I'll never need the pro version for my home shop and I'm excited to get the crossfire table. With all of the options I chose my order came to $2450. You can see from the cost I did order the z axis control among others. I have Autocad experience in my past so I'll be able to adapt to Fusion 360 in time. I have watched a lot of videos showing how to draw in Fusion 360 and I can tell it's very powerful. One of the things that I see that is really powerful is the fact that the program will take a 3 dimensional drawing and unfold it to a 2 dimensional drawing for use with these tables. Your use of the table is really impressive to me and has really made your builds more professional. I already recently purchased an Everlast 62i plasma cutter which replaced my older Hobart 27i cutter. I almost purchased the Titanium 45 but they were out of stock and found the Everlast that happened to be on sale for the same price.
We bought the Pro model from watching your videos - Its a real gamer changer when doing fab work on our minibikes. Saves time when prototyping new designs
Mike. I am a software writer and have to do a lot of training videos demonstrating how things work. I use Camtasia software for saving my screen and audio. It has been excellent but is a bit pricey i think because of all the video editing facilities. I am sure there are a number of cheaper screen capture software programmes out there that you could import into your existing editing software.
Mike thanks so much for showing what you know. Ever since I saw your first couple builds I knew I needed a plasma table. I'm saving up now for one. I would love to see videos on the programs and drawing 2d objects
I just ordered one, thanks for the heads up on an affordable table and the 100$ off.😀 I’ll be thinking of you all the while I’m saving hours every day I’m working with sheet metal.
Thanks for another informative video Mike. I really appreciate how you break things down to pro’s and cons with honestly and why you feel that way. Especially with the computer and software. That was great info. I’m just waiting on the legs for my cross fire pro. Really excited about getting it going. Just got my new 45 xp hypertherm. I got the mechanized torch along with the hand held. Also with the Cpc port. Looking forward to seeing how it does. Also I love how you are able to build some amazing builds in your own shop. Some of the guys have these huge tables with all the top notch big $$ equipment and you can build pretty much the same thing at a fraction of the cost. As a blue collar worker like myself ......that says volumes about your ability and gives me reassurance I don’t need all the best money can buy. Just a good imagination and some knowledge from people like your self. Thanks as always. I appreciate all you do and all you share for the rest of us ..😊
Hey Mike! Its hilarious you just did this video because I have been looking at purchasing one for a few months to make a second income cutting medal art to sell. Thanks for the info at the perfect time..
Nice video Mike. After watching a bunch of your videos on several of your builds I bought a cnc plasma machine. Still setting it up at the moment but I can't wait to get cutting. Greetings from the Netherlands, Mark
A tip on your laptop, if you change it to go in to hibernate mode rather than sleep mode, your battery should last longer. Sleep mode keeps using battery power, hibernate stores the current state to the hard disk and fully shuts off power. Reboot will be slightly longer from hibernate than sleep but still much faster than a full reboot. Just finished watching all the videos on the CNC tables, really feeling the need now!
Thanks for the tip Shane 👍 I definitely appreciate it! These CNC plasma tables are a game changer in a shop, it saves me so much time when making parts. Take care brother 🙂
Add me to the list of viewers seriously starting to want that table! I'm also interested in a tutorial on drawing parts using the software. Excellent video, as always!
Wow, really looking forward to your F360 basic video series! This video is also very cool. Really wish the Crossfire people offered their software as a retrofit, I have an old 5x10ft plasma carcass I'd like to retrofit and reanimate.
Darn-it Mike, you keep trying really hard to sell me on one of these CNC plasma tables. I am seriously thinking this might have to be a Fall present for myself.
Mike, this was a great video! I doubt I will ever get into CNC cutting but to try (for me) to learn to do it would be fun. Something to keep my brain active. Looking forward to any series you produce on this.
Mike, I scanned through comments here and comments on another video and I dont see where you talk about what you are doing, if anything, for water drying to the plasma torch on the Crossfire. I dont recall you mentioning it in numerous videos of yours that I have watched. Really enjoy your content and how you apply inexpensive materials to your tasks. Keith
Was just thinking about how cool it would be if you did a tutorial on your plazma cnc and how some would learn how to use it starting out. Looking forward to seeing the new series
Mike, for those with a small laptop computer screen, a desktop computer monitor can be a help. I accidentally dropped my laptop, and had to do this after that event. The downside is that now one needs a space to put the monitor to work.
Thanks for saying that I was about to say about the same thing. I use a lap top with full size monitor with wireless key board and mouse. Makes it just feel better
I got the small crossfire a few months ago and the good software works with it and it has plugs for z axis upgrade. In case anyone was interested. I really want z axis with thc! Can’t wait til its available. I love the machine!
Right on! Thanks for the info 👍 I will post a comment about this so others know. Last time I E mailed the company and asked if the Firecontrol software would ever be available for the original crossfire, they mentioned that it probably won’t be. I’m glad they changed that, the Firecontrol is far better. Thanks Michael
Great video! FYI the new 2’x2’ tables do get to use FireControl which is awesome, I think LS is trying to get away from Mach 3 thank goodness, I got a pro as well and love it! I previously made my own version of an original and the pro is great!
It would be great if you were able to do a 2 D fusion 360 tutorial. I’m waiting on my pro table looks like early may I will receive it. Ivv be also have the Harbor freight titanium 45 machine. So the feeds and speeds you have shared should help a lot Thanks to you I saved the $100 on the table Much appreciated 👍🏻
I ordered one of these about a month ago (using your discount code... you're welcome) and should be here in about a month I guess. Really looking forward to it. I bit the bullet and invested in a Hypertherm 65 too... so much for affordable CNC plasma, haha. I wanted one already, but your videos helped push me over the edge to go ahead and get one. Should be a fun and interesting year. Also... I am comfortable in Inventor and Fusion360 is almost a clone of that. But with all the hubbub around Fusion as of this past fall, I decided to just skip it and go with FreeCAD. The paradigm is similar and it is powerful too, but it doesn't need to "phone home for permission", won't be neutered when the CEO has a bad day, and files are stored locally instead of on somebody else's computer (the cloud). You're correct though, a 2D simpler program would be even better though. I bet there's a perfect fit out there somewhere. Honestly, if you were to find a CAD program that's an actual great fit for the CF Pro toolchain, the search & comparison of what you find would be a good video idea maybe? I'd enjoy it, FWIW.
This was a much needed video! I would Love to see a series on exactly how you program and cut. I only give you one thumbs up 👍🏻 cause it wouldn’t let me click it twice. Thanks again for the videos. Absolutely love your channel.
@@jasongrinnell1986 Right on thanks Jason 👍 If a commercial is skippable I recommend skipping it, I think out of all the UA-cam commercials I have seen maybe 1% of them are actually something I’m interested in 😂 Really leaving a comment is one of the best ways to support your favorite YT channels, It helps because UA-cam will suggest videos with more comments on them. Great video Mike I’m going to get one of the pro tables So I’m really looking forward to that video series because I know very little about cad type programs Thanks again
Looking forward to the tutorial. If Google SketchUp is still around, it might be the stripped down software you are looking for. If you could also cover all the software aps that can be used to create parts AND are compatible with the Langmuir software, that would be cool too. Keep up the great work!
Looks like an awesome tool. Ive been toying with 3d printing since around christmas, fusion 360 is what I use to make simple models to print there as well. I can definitely appreciate your comments about how complicated it can be. The plasma table looks like a great addition to any fabricators shop. Nice review.
You can do screen capture through Autodesk software. I use it often for teaching. Go to Autodesk home page and search for screencast. You can do simple edits to your screencast videos before you post them.
Another informative video on a topic I like! Pressing Alt+PrtScr will create screen captures or Snipping Tool in Windows accessories is another toy to capture screen images in more customized ways. There is also a program trainers use to capture dynamic screen shots for training videos. The Google is smarter than me and knows, what it is. You may have tried this already, but in the power options in windows control panel there are usually options for how the computer acts when the screen closes, choices are usually, do nothing, sleep, hibernate or shut down. Have a great weekend, weather keeps getting better!
Hey if its slow and seems to always be running something that means there are things running in the back ground, you would be surprised on what's running on computers in the back ground if you know someone you can take it to to shut all the stuff down so it wont start back up it will perform for you much much better God Bless
I recently saw a cnc mod that looked useful.Add a pen, in tis case a retractable sharpie. When cutting metal that you will bend or weld to later, you can mark the crease line or plate location. The pen would be adjacent to the plasma so that you draw then cut.
A good trick for ground clamps is to ditch the heavy, bulky spring style clamp and go with a Irwin vise-grip clamp instead. Allows you to clamp metal to ensure good contact. Great for Welding or Cutting.
I am looking forward to your software tutorials. As a soon to be new owner and complete CNC noob (ordered a crossfire normal). some beginner friendly videos showcasing the basic fundamentals on getting started would be great! The tutorials, the few that are on youtube here are usually aimed at mach 3. I get the CAD/CAM part is probably the same no matter what? I ordered the "45 Bundle" so was unable to use your code. but I tried :)
Take a look at OBS for screen captures. You can have to record specific windows and have it add your mic as the audio track so your commentary is synced with everything,
The majority of the struggle with a lot of my fab jobs is cutting the parts. A decent CNC plasma table would be a huge improvement. * P.S., Looking forward to the tutorials.
Great video, wasnt familiar with this brand. Would love the new XL since my project has 8ft. Pieces. The Texas factory is only 15 min from me, might have to go get a job there for a employee discount lol
I don't know anything firsthand about these machines. The usual complaints are the size and the cost. To me that argument is foolish because the CNC plasma properly used eliminates a brake AND a shear. Think about that cost and floor space especially considering the CNC can handle 1/2" material. The big obstacle for me would be the learning curve of the software even though I am somewhat proficient in Photoshop. I wonder if Adobe Illustrator would work as well as Fusion 360. I am looking forward to your next video. Thank you very much, Art
How does it eliminate the need for a brake? I hear you on the shear, I was contemplating getting an old antique 1/4 x 6ft shear, but then I realized a cnc plasma can 'be' a 3/4" shear by however long your long travel is....10 feet or more! Who needs a huge heavy iron shear anymore?? No one I guess.
@@kmcwhq It replaces a brake by cutting intermittent slots along the fold line allowing you to make very accurate bends basically 'along the dotted line'. Of course the thicker the metal the greater the force required to make the bend. Then' if needed you can weld the slots shut.
In Windows power settings, change your "lid switch" setting to Hibernate. That way it won't use any power when it's closed and you can pick up exactly where you left off. If you don't see Hibernate as an option, open a Command prompt and type "powercfg.exe /hibernate on". I think you might have to reboot for it to take affect. (Google how to open an elevated command prompt.) BTW, I really don't HP Laptops. My go to is Lenovo Thinkpads. They are pricey but bulletproof. Check out Lenovo's factory outlet to save a chunk of change. Get an i7 processor and you'll be happy for a while.
Just to add a little perspective. Mach3 is a very cheap solution for CNC control, and for me outperformed a 5 axis control we were using that cost 20 times the price. The issues you described with Mach3 lead me to believe your vendor didn't set it up correctly. Mach3 is what it is - a simple PC based control that works well if set up properly. A lot of Mach3's functionality and reliability depends on the abilities of the machine vendor. I've shipped a lot of systems (mostly waterjet) over the years that ran very well off Mach3 (some of the waterjet systems ran at high acceleration, with rapid speeds of 3000 IPM and cutting speeds at over 1200 IPM). Then again, we made our own CNC boards (specifically for Mach3) and designed our own Control interface screens. Mach3 is designed to run up to 6 axis of motion (my control boards were designed to handle up 5 axis), but I have used Mach3 to run up to 9 axis of motion. Mach3 does indeed have issues (as every Control does) and is FAR from being perfect, but for under $200 for a license, it is a steal. That being said, while you can still buy Mach3 it is no longer supported by the factory; it has been replaced by Mach4, which is a whole different animal, both in terms of performance and programming.
Honestly Mike if you're going to do an overlay the background behind the overlay is so busy it was very hard for me to focus on everything I personally would appreciate solid color background or something easier to look at when you small screen it with you in the corner Other than that brother keep up the great videos!!
Mike they make a magnetic grounding clamp, it sticks to steel like those old cb antennas... Granted a magnet would be worthless for things like copper, titanium , aluminum, inconel, or stainless.
Mike I am in the market for a cnc table and the crossfire pro is high on the list. I was happy to hear you like the software provided. As for the cad portion do you know anything about Sheetcam vs fusion 360? When do you think you will start the fusion tutorial?
Thanks for your information. I saved it and will listen to it several times. I want a Langmuir Crossfire because of price. I have zip experience with plasma table’s or any cnc cad etc software. I want it for my home shop building cars and want my workmanship and quality the best I can be. From sheet aluminum.063 to 1/4” steel brackets. I don’t have very much patience. The Pro sounds best for ease. But spaceman my shop is limited What direction would you say I should look at

* P.S., Looking forward to the tutorials.
Right on 👍
Make another great video looking forward to seeing the other ones for this plasma table keep up the good work
Try Tinker Cad it's simple and free. Please tell us about the doors on your shop. They appear to be homemade.
Definitely interested in the tutorials
A series on drawing and designing would be great
how is your air dryer working out and what all do you use for air drying?
I’m not planning on getting a cnc table, but hey great video man..:) wishing we had some drumming in it though..lol. Thanks for the upload..:)
👍👍😎👍👍 looking forward to the F360 tutorial
Awesome video! Can you put a little thread locker on the Allen screws?
Great video, wasnt familiar with this brand. Would love the new XL since my project has 8ft. Pieces. The Texas factory is only 15 min from me, might have to go get a job there for a employee discount lol
I REALLY want a crossfire PRO for my home shop. I’ve got a big Plasma Cam table at my shop
Hey Mike I know this is an old video I was hoping you might have some trouble shooting tips i cant get my torch to fire but it will run the programs
Thank you very much,
Art
(Google how to open an elevated command prompt.)
BTW, I really don't HP Laptops. My go to is Lenovo Thinkpads. They are pricey but bulletproof. Check out Lenovo's factory outlet to save a chunk of change. Get an i7 processor and you'll be happy for a while.
Hey Mike, I’d be curious to see how you nest your parts to make the most of your material?
Hey Mike, your dog wants to go out and chase rabbits!
Or just needs to poop
Honestly Mike if you're going to do an overlay the background behind the overlay is so busy it was very hard for me to focus on everything
I personally would appreciate solid color background or something easier to look at when you small screen it with you in the corner
Other than that brother keep up the great videos!!
Just ordered mine using your code. Hopefully you get some commission.
If you didn’t have a plasma cutter, would you go with the one that goes with the CNC machine or would you go buy the Titanium?
please do a video series on the fusion 360, trying to get ready to buy my crossfire table
I have 3 videos up so far on my UA-cam channel about drawing in Fusion 360 👍
Thanks for checking out my video.
Hey mike am when are you building the grab/thumb for excavator ?
Can you start with a picture like a logo or something? Or do you have to do all from scratch?
Great work wat type of electrical amperage ,volts, breaker run the machine?
Wow, I think I’ll pickup one of these tables
What about the SheetCAM they offer on their website?
A fusion 360 video will be great.
Mike they make a magnetic grounding clamp, it sticks to steel like those old cb antennas... Granted a magnet would be worthless for things like copper, titanium , aluminum, inconel, or stainless.
Hi Mike, How thick can you cut with this machine?
If you had a choice would you get one with a bigger table?
Mike
I am in the market for a cnc table and the crossfire pro is high on the list. I was happy to hear you like the software provided.
As for the cad portion do you know anything about Sheetcam vs fusion 360? When do you think you will start the fusion tutorial?
Can you do a review of one of the weld pro welders. great videos man
Thanks for your information. But spaceman my shop is limited
What direction would you say I should look at
