Man…. Dave….. THANK YOU!!!! First of all, I’m Sold on the XR. You never mentioned quality is an issue. 2nd, God Bless You and all the other fabricators for putting their content out here for others to see. I’m a disabled guy looking to start my own small business and work out of my garage doing fab work rather than crawling under vehicles and hurting myself anymore. You all have shown me so much and I will be forever grateful. God Bless
Am I the only one who appreciates seeing the mistakes in real time? It's almost like bonus content. Good stuff Dave. You're so fast at using the program, I can't wait till I'm that far along.
OMG ... DAVE, YOU DID IT. I was worried that you ether didn't get it done today because you ran into problems or you just was too busy having fun cutting on your new setup😁 ok let me shut up and enjoy this video...wrote the comment before I watched it.
As an owner of the crossfire pro. I can see where big improvements were made to this. And re engineered for a great professional table at an incredible price.
HONCHO! 2.0 - like the sound of that. Thinking back on some of the first Journey to the Baja videos using the CrossFire Pro - it will be cool to see how the XR makes a difference and simplifies things with the next build.
"Mom does not like watchin the nerdy stuff" That was so funny. XR machine looks awesome, So jealous, I have the crossfire. wish I had the room for the bigger machine. Nice video as always
I would be careful plasma cutting aluminum on a water table. I remember hearing something about hydrogen gas being produced. Also, love the setup. You’re living the dream!
Do you need to have internet to run fire control? Shop doesn’t have internet so wanted to make sure if it would work or if I’d need to get a hotspot. Thanks
You do not need internet. It has 3 USB on the computer and you could add a USB splitter. So you could save the files to a thumb drive and transfer that way.
Great video. If you write text on the drawing before you extrude it. Once your done writing and exit the edit you can right click it and hit “explode text” I believe. Then it will extrude good.
@@RYoung09 Yes...I use Fusion360 for CAD and CAM and FireControl runs the table. Works great. Table is solid. You can watch my video about the modifications I did to the water table to fix my only gripe. Code NTDRacing will get you a discount if you end up going with the LS table.
Sad to see they didn't address the drain hole issue, looks like they made it worse by only using one of the crappy plugs. Otherwise impressed with the quality for the money.
@ntdracing hey Dave love the content, I know this is an older video but can you tell me how far from the right wall I need to have my XR for the X axis cable chain to clear when the machine moves all the way to the right stop limit?
do you normally cut without radiused lead in / lead out parameters? thats why the holes @11:45 have the divot at the start/stop. and with aluminum def more speed will help and throw some scrap weight on the thin stuff to prevent it from heat warping like it did. overall tho nice job, mine should be here any day1
Was wondering, at around 13:45 when you are showing the floorboard the lead ins look like they cut on the wrong side vs when you did the 360 part of the video. I do not have a table yet and am trying to learn as much as I can before I get one. I am probably going to be getting the Gen2 Crossfire to start with. Love your videos about using Fusion 360.
Lol was just watching your video on your smaller machine. Looks like you upgraded too the big machine. That’s my plan. Not gonna piss around with a small one and have to move the plate and refund your zero lol
Nice video. Anyone out there have a view on the STV compared to this CrossFire? I have been looking at the STV until this video. I really like the cover with light over the torch and standard touch screen. Wonder if Lead Screw design is better than Gear on a plasma??
We were looking at STV as well. Waiting impatiently for our XR. I do think lead screw (ball screw actually) is a better design. Less backlash than rack and pinion I would imagine.
@@mtnbiker4480 Can you give an estimation of when you ordered and what your lead time was? Please don't hesitate to five a little feed back of assembling.
@@rufustoad1 Ordered 5/24/2021 - about an hour after batch 1 closed and batch 2 opened (and $250 bump). Lead time was impacted by supply chain issues so not that relevant. I'd ask Langmuir directly if the lead time on their XR page is still reasonable - they are estimating December.
Dave, would you recommend this unit for a cnc machine shop to use for rough cuts of 3/8 plate? We buy a bunch of profile plasma cuts and our shop cnc mills out the tight dimensions on the inside of these parts. However if we can do our own plasma cuts it would save us a ton of money. This machine is well within budget for the jobs we can use it for. Please share your thoughts. Thanks in advanced.
I cut mostly up to 1/4. That said, the table is strong enough take a 4x8 1” sheet, so it can take the weight you would put in it. The motion of the machine has not given me any issues and seems robust enough for production. The only part left is the ability to cut 3/8, and that has everything to do with which plasma cutter you add to the table. The RW45 works great for me, but I am into one off parts and not production. This might be a case where a more powerful Hypertherm would be worth the investment. Hope this helps. Good luck.
I am not sure. Unfortunately you can no longer print Fusion 360 parts on paper to scale without paying. I used to use that a bunch to test fit parts before going to metal.
That would be in some trial and error with the plasma cutter settings. The table is very precise. The art is to work on lead in, lead out, power and cut speed to get the best cut results.
Great video! So I have to ask. I see prices all over the place on these. Any help or suggestions on what to go with? I see this one for $6000 and some for $60,000. I don’t know why they’re so far apart in price.

If you put together a learning series for sale leaning heavy on fusion 360, I would buy that. Just saying, I know all this is a byproduct of your intended purpose. But if you ever hit tough times, just know there's that, lol.
Will this cut a 4x8 sheet in half? Either horizontally or vertically? With the Pro, the actual cut area was an inch or so short of being able to split a sheet in half.
Quick question… do we download fusion 360 to that monitor/computer or would it be best on a separate computer? I am completely new to this, sorry if it’s a silly question. 😅
I run it on a separate computer. I am guessing it would run on the XR computer. I only allow the XR computer to run FireControl to minimize the chance of a hiccup during a cut. Have not had one yet.
@@hawk5148 it is basic. It seems like when a company sends you a dedicated computer to run their machine, that is about all it will do. My old ASUS laptop from the returned shelf at Best Buy from 6 years ago works better IMO.

Should have another side by side with the XR and Pro out tomorrow.
How happy are you with this product? Have you had any issues? Pros/cons..Thinking about purchasing one.
Love everything about it. Just used it all week to make parts to fix the race truck.

For some reason I thought there was a mini remote controller of some sort. I thought I seen you use it in this video but I guess I was dreaming....
There is a small remote. Basically a miniature keyboard and mouse. I think I use it in the comparison video. It is cool.
When you assembled the bed, what sealant did you use?
The sealant that LS sent with the table. Worked great.

I usually post questions on the Facebook page. Many time the LS folks will answer there.
do u run straight water in your tables or have you tried a cutting fluid? its supposed to help prevent rusting and science experiment growths
I just run water and drain it after use. Sometime I will keep it in for a few days.
