A simple idea has now become something special. I have already built a few bending machines so far. But most are always for either sheet metal or thick flat steel.

That's why I wanted to have a small bending machine with which I could quickly make repeatable bends using the adjustment screw. In addition, it is also perfect for straightening flat steel. The idea of using it as a press came to me while I was building it. So you can build all kinds of matrices for it and also have the chance to bend thicker material like 30x6mm flat steel at the end of the video
I'm super happy with the result and it fits perfectly into my small workshop.
Big thanks to xTool for this awesome laser. This will brings my work on a other level and I have so much ideas with this thing, stay tuned ;)

Incredible work! And thank you so so much for no unnecessary music or commentary!!!
Thank you 😊
Exactly! Let me listen to what I like, while I watch the DIY bending machine come to life.
This guy is not only an artisan level craftsman but a talented engineer.
Thank you 😊
@@TheMetalistI’ve ran brakes for years, you could make a smaller bottom die for a tighter bend, or even put a smaller piece of angle iron in and your radius will be a lot tighter.
It's refreshing to see people still know how to work hand tools. And well! Nice tool 😘
Thank you 💪😁
It is this moment where I am most thankful for my CNC milling machine 😂
Perhaps I am too lazy to be this creative with tools. Amazing outcome with basic tools.
Bravo.
Same, I'd have done a whole bunch of this on the laser at work while sipping a drink. I don't wanna work this hard haha.
BASIC tools?!?!? WTF? There nothing basic about those tools, you cannot even FIND those in a normal hardware store
@@mcamodellThose are not basic consumer tools but pro grade tools. I think @Factory400 ment hand tools.
@@lainethm "Amazing outcome with basic tools"
When he turned it upright & used it as a press break........................I literally can even!!!!
🤯👌
😊
Love it - we made a small press for bending inside corners on letters - but it is hydraulic - this is a great project! I will use it as inspiration for the next build for sure!
Thank you 😊
I bought your welding table build plans and it was great step by step. I've been searching the web trying to find a good drill tap set. Can mention what taps you use and counter sink bits you use in your builds. Your fabrication builds are the BEST I've seen. Thanks for sharing your builds with the world 🌍🙌
Awesome. I need exactly one of these. I've been following a long time. Im really glad to see how you've grown from building your own bench to where you are now. This is an awesome custom tool.
Beautiful. A real pleasure in watching you work. All the small details, chamfering the holes and edges. Neat tool for breaking the edge on your slots too. Great bender, great work. Thanks.

Bravo.
Why did I watch this?! 😂 I now see more tools and bits I need to buy. My wife is NOT going to be pleased.
Really nice work!! Thanks for taking the time to show us. I’ll see if I can put it in the mix for this Summer’s projects.
Awesome, thank you 😁
I like your bender. Also a crafty guy, I appreciate the work of others. You do a lot with very little.
Don't be sure if i like more the simple design or the functionality. Great project 👍 Just to the right time on a sunday evening a good movie...this is what it takes 😆
I am excited what's up next 🙌
Thanks you 😊 nächsten zwei Projekte werden etwas einfacher😅
another brilliant design , an idea came to me when you upended the machine "vertically" this would work perfect for (dimple dies) i will be constructing one for myself in the future , thanks for sharing
Thank you 😊
Awesome send me some pics if it's ready 😁
Oh Mann, einfach geil!
Du tust dir da echt was an.
Vielen Dank 😊
Ja ist ja auch mein Hobby 😁
Nicely done and well thought out, thanks for sharing. Charles
😊
Someone get this man a Bridgeport!! Bravo my friend. Great work!
What is a Bridgeport? I dunno if that's a tool or like a fancy drink?
@@heckyes A professional milling machine - knee mill
@@heckyesIt's an engineering tool, really. If you have a bridgeport and a lathe, you can build all kinds of machines like I do.
First off - AWESOME build!!! Secondly - DANG I am glad I own a mill 😀
Your skills are simply ridiculous. Well done sir.
Thank you
Show off :D - хаха
Btw - nice work man.
Good for you.
You are a true craftsman.
Respect !
Thank you 😊
🎉🥳💪🏻👍🏻 wieder geil, das Video und das Ergebnis.
Jetzt kann ich gut schlafen 😁
Vielen Dank 😊
Vielen Dank 😊
Outstanding design! The versatility of this unit really shines through.
Du machst wirklich klasse Werkzeug, klasse und pragmatisch
Vielen Dank 😊
on my old job i had the hydraulic 40 ton version of this. So cool of a machine for custom fabrication work.
You've got some really cool toys, and good ideas.
Almost a sideways arbor press! Neat!
Big j'aime ! W
Fantastic, you always do complicated things with basic tools and very well thought out construction !
Wow... That's a lot of work for a 30 second slot. I hear Bridgeport calling your name!
Dirk, there is no stopping you, my friend!!! 🫵r #☝️
Awesome Invention!!!👌 👏 👍
Thanks a lot Silver😊
Always enjoy watching your work!
Thank you 😊
Damn you! I love it. You have made me want something that I didn't know I needed.
I like that you brazed your channel name into the table
Very clever, and well done!
Thank you 😊
Perfection. I am a flooring guy and I wasn’t able to take my eyes off the screen. Thank you so much for the excellent editing!
Awesome bending tool, I fully plan to make one of these! Thanks for sharing
That mag drill is soo compact. Man the ones I've used were 3-4 times the size
That is so smooth! I like your designs cause they just work so many ways👌🏻
Metalist you are the beast😎!
Thank you 💪😊
I love that third ✋. 👍😄
Coole Idee.
Vielen Dank 😊
Well done! Especial since you don’t use a milling machine to fabricate. One comment. Use a tapping fluid.
Thank you 😊 yes i missed it for a couple of sec 😅 but the bit is still good
Hello Dirk, once again great work, I'm thrilled! Best regards, Michael
@@michaelmetzner3981 vielen Dank...hab dich nicht vergessen 😉
The man has to be doing stuff infuriating on purpose. He literally just took a piece off the drop saw and then cut the miter with an angle grinder right after. Sweet Jesus
Also straight up welding and cutting that tube just to use as a fence...
Great tool, good job thanks for sharing.
Such a cool project, well done! 👏
Thank you 😁😉
GREETINGS FROM ARGENTINA!
CONGRATULATIONS
Definitely interested in build plans when this hits etsy.
Thank you 😊
Plans are online
Gefällt mir immer wieder sehr gut was du machst.
Vielen Dank 😊
Your technique is spot on. Excellent craftsmanship 💯
Very well put together.
Nice tool! Unfortunately I cannot build one myself as I don't own a laser engraver!
😅😂👍
Your an absolute wizard, very nice.
Großartig Maestro 👌👍💪👏👏👏👏
Vielen Dank 😊
Excelente Fabricación de muy alto nivel
Merci 😁
Amazing. As always. Great work
Thank you 😊
Brilliant design. Great video! 👍
You are the best my guy.
Thank you 😊
great job
Well done
Thank you 😊
Awesome work and good show of skills and thought :) - keep it up
One day i hope i live somewhere were tools and materials aren't so expensive that I can do projects or have fun making stuff without the thought of the repercussions of not having food or a roof over my head (Life can be hard but doesn't mean not to dream)
Vraiment top ! bravo et merci ...
That was awesome bro
Way cool
Great work as always Dirk... Just a thought you could put a crank handle and 2 fixed bearings to make a radius roller.. I know you have a dedicated Heavy duty one.
Thank you 😊
Yes not the first one who mentioned that
As usual, magnificent job 👏🏼🫡
BRILLIANT as always!!
merci beau travail !!
Merci 😁
Interesting project.
Thank you 😊
Well done Brother!
Thank you 😊
Outstanding.
Thank you 😊
Nice!
install roller bearings on the tooling you used to make the hoop and a crank handle, and you could roll steel. awesome stuff sir.
This is awesome
Thank you 😊
You should make a depth set and lock for the handle and three roller wheels and a hand crank for the roller wheel on sliding mechanism
For rod and flatstock rolling.
Thats a nice idea 😉😊
I don't know why this channel wasn't recommended to me sooner. UA-cam owes me an apology.
😅👍
For real
I second this!!

Hi Greetings from Germany 👋
I don't know where to start. I have been a fabricator machinist, tinkerer since a child. Now 64 employed in a job I enjoy going to because of my ability to repair, replace, modify parts and mechanisms to bring the companies vital equipment back to life again.
At 16 started an apprenticeship in England. Five years later released on the world as a millwright.
This is the point from which I view this man work.
Almost made me shed a tear. All that I learned, all that I have to fight against, in comments of "Oh there he goes can't have sharp edge" "you don't have to do all that".
This incredibly skilled man. Using mostly tools available to all home hobbyists.
Vindicated that which gives me, my identity.
Skill, experience, care, no short cuts File it smooth, break that edge, a hole isn't round until it's been chamfered.
Used to be the norm.
Trying to pass anything on is a near impossible task.
Here I saw a man who picked a machine he's been thinking of for a while. Saw mechanisms around him, hmmm! That would work for ?.
Prepared and set to work producing a thing of both form and function. Paint an option. Sometimes leaving it exposed. Gives it that oily rag clean. That has its own pleasing finish. Damn! I wish that cursing was allowed .
This punctuation make comments more real.
Thankyou I'm so f*&cking moved. By your abilities, and commitment to give appearance and ease of function to your work.
It can still be kept alive.
Bro he sized up dimensional holes with a hand drill.
@@AndrossUT Yep! There's that practiced skill. Doesn't just offer the drill to the punch mark. Checks the drill for perpendicular the pushes through.
@@user-zw3qq5bg7y it's fake
@@user-zw3qq5bg7y you lose perpendicular when you resize holes with a drill like that. You also lose dimensional circulatory. Why are you trolling?
@@AndrossUT Hey there. I read and gave thought to your reply.
When drilling and tapping hole the tolerances when understood. It becomes clear that maximum thread / effort in cutting is at 75% thread formation. The closer to 100% thread form you want to achieve the effort required and risk of tap breakage increases that it becomes irrational to attempt this for a minimal ( off hand 10% increase holding).
Therefore if drilling with a 5/16" Size drill for a 3/8" 16 thread thread is a leaning to slightly larger hole within the
75% aim.
If using the power drill .
Perpendicular eyeballing of the hole to be formed through what appears to be 3/8".
My conservative estimate of drill length about 4 in.
This says 3
That things legit to have bent that last piece.
Finish was very impressive, 6mm thick
Pretty slick! Very useful too!
