The manipulation takes more time than actually playing at some points. The real praise belongs to the humans imo. Hacks only get you so far and I bet human trickery will win at some point
@@TheMysticRabbit0wnzuyou uh…. You realize this isn’t “hacks” right? It’s all achievable in game and THEORETICALLY possible for humans to do. Just difficult.

Normally for a speedrun I feel people get pretty close to tas perfect so a 17 minute difference could be seen as pretty big. But with all the rng time saves I'm kind of shocked there isn't like an hour or more of a difference.
The routing on the TAS seems a little rough. It feels like rng manipulation might have cost more time than saved in some parts and could be significantly optimized.
Gotta send this to MandjTV, I'm sure it will be enjoyable for him to watch considering how Castform is one of his favs and show how important it is for a speed run of gen 3. I was entertained learning how to manipulate the rng to do inhumane feats. Love the quality content and you deserve more recognition in the pokemon community
Funny enough, Emerald got the Machop/Machoke idea from the last Sapphire TAS by FractalFusion before Taillow/Swellow were picked. The latter doesn't work for Emerald due to them getting completely walled by Gym 3 (Wattson) and because Pickup being changed between RS and Emerald.
@@PulseEffects I love the games so much~ The second game is something I still am playing and enjoying the grind of! The soundtrack definitely helps it!
I definitely need to rewatch Pokemon TASes since I've recently completed all gen 1-3 games (excluding versions with just different pokemon), and it will be fun to see the strategy of these runs more in depth.
Are there pokemon that even a TAS wouldn't be able to beat a game with, if they were your only allowed offensive pokemon, and they were all allowed to be hacked in as your starter? I have a few ideas for pokemon that might be impossible, like Cosmog in USUM, but it could be fun to see exactly what pokemon couldn't beat a game, and when they get softlocked... Are there games where no pokemon is impossible? Which game has the most impossible pokemon, and so on...
The description of a TAS was kinda convoluted. The game is still originally controller by a person, and that person has access to tools like frame advance, rewind, save states and whatnot. After the person is done making the tas the inputs can be replicated to re-create the play in real time, and if the tools used are accurate to the original hardware, you can even play them on original hardware, making the TAS hardware verified. The explanation you gave sounds as if the emulator itself made the TAS.
I agree tbh! With this being my first TAS video, I wasn't sure how to fully convey what a TAS is into words. I'm likely going to cover another one soon, so I'll try and word it a bit better next time!
I was day-dreaming and then i came back to reality the moment i heard you pronounce Facade like "Fakadi" man, never heard someone say it like that before and i kinda wished the correct pronounceation was that (Sorry if there's a typo, english isn't my first language)
9:32 Did he just say "Fakade" (or "Faquade")? >-< i have never heard that and i am very sure this is incorrect. If not, i cannot stand the burden of the lie weighing on my shoulders for so many years X_X
I'm curious, does the TAS get the super rare KO on the Ralts during the catching tutorial? I've heard that with very specific stats from the raltz and the zigzagoon, it's possible for two tackles to knock the Ralts out, and I'm pretty sure that that would save time in a run.
1:47 - well yeah. A TAS is limited to the human strategy input. It isn't running all possible decisions and then neural networking the solutions. It will therefore of course follow the intended best choices humans know.
Do you think someone out there who was casually trying to complete the game as fast as possible and they could have had the perfect speedrun on accident by sheer luck and they don't even know it ?
You could play Pokemon from now till the heat death of the universe and you probably still wouldn't achieve all this luck consecutively in a single run. And some of it isn't even just luck, some if it is bizarre and illogical movement that no human would do even by accident.
i normally dont do this, and it is a bit rude, so apologies in advance. facade is pronounced fuh-sahd awesome video dude, the editing and storytelling skills are on point!
Games doesn't (usually) actually generate random values, they just calculate them based on a bunch of inputs. These inputs include the clock, step count, map/game seed, etc. RNG manipulation is timing your inputs perfectly so that the inputs you control give you the calculation result you want.
Awesome video ! but please, juste the move '"FACADE" is a french word and you just stabb the pronounciation. Just imagine an "S" and not a "C" and its perfect ! u crushed my ears lol

i’m new here so what exactly is a TAS?
Tool Assisted Speedrun. Essentially, it's a showcase on how a perfect speedrun might look if you got the best occurrences possible.
What about the rival fight before Wattson? That is supposed to be tough with Mudkip.
The TAS gets through that pretty easily, especially since it picks the girl!
