Absolutely beautiful Ron. What is most impressive is the size of the property and how well it all came out. I would be happy with a desk top lawn which is just a little smaller than my front lawn lol :)
Thanks so much Striperman. It's been a ton of work to get the lawn to where it is now. Really happy with how it's coming out. Really appreciate you watching the content. 🙏😎

Heya Robert. I worry about having to spray the entire front lawn in the spring though. I've seen a couple lawns in my neighborhood that did a PRG overseed and in the spring they looked rough. The Bermuda still doesn't look right. This is what I'm afraid of.
Hey Ron I love all your videos Question how do you grow lawn when there’s a tree that grows close and there’s roots all inbeded in the soil. Any suggestions?
That's going to be tough ricardo. The tree is going to shade the grass and also draw a lot of nutrients. Depending on how big the tree is, you may not be able to grow grass there. Certainly not Bermuda. Might have to turn the area into a mulch bed.
I stopped watering heavily a couple weeks ago. I think the water bill for the overseeding was around $530. Something like that. Thanks for watching man.

Ron, I am renting a place in DC and clearly the yard was not taking care of for years. Any recommendations on grass types, care, and a mower to get a great lawn look. I want to put in a little putting green :) The area is a square front yard about 20' x 20'
Hi Rhys. The nice thing about having a smaller lawn is it's a lot. less to take care. Easier to make it amazing. If you'd like to see a complete lawn transformation that shows the steps I recommend, check out this play list: ua-cam.com/video/49OXqXGNe28/v-deo.html It shows how my neighbor and I transformed his lawn over 3 months. I really comes down to taking care of the weeds and lots of regular mowing. You can do it. 😎
Heya J Harris. I've thought about doing it, but not really a fan of the concept because you're mixing KBG with Bermuda long term. From my understanding it's different to an Rye overseed. You'd have to be really careful around which products you use and how you use them because the lawn is now cool season and warm season grass at the same time. Take PGR (Plant Growth Regulator) as an example. The rate for most Bermuda grass types is .25 ounces per 1k square feet vs. .60 ounces per 1k square feet for KBG. So you're left with either over-applying the PGR (not a great idea) or applying it at the correct rate for Bermuda which results in a below rate application for KBG. Just seems like a lot of headache without a ton of benefit. 👍🤓. Appreciate you chiming in.
@@RonHenry Cool deal Thanks. I doubt I would use PGR but good example and I understand the point. I was looking more to year around green grass (other than rye) but I'm also in North Texas. Watering in the summer may be tricky and that my may concern.

Got a new house. Didn't know any better about bermuda grass. The lawn was awful. So I started pulling weeds and seeding eith savannah common grass seeds. Now my lawn, though it looks better, it's a mix of hybrid and common. How should I fix this to ensure everything looks the same and even?
Your best bet is a good nutrient program (fertilization) and regular mowing. Mowing is really important to a good looking lawn. There's not a way that I'm aware of to selectively remove common from hybrid or vice versa. Can get fertilizers here: golfcourselawn.store/collections/lawn-fertilizers
@RonHenry thank you for your response. That's what I'm doing. I just recently bought my first reel mower, though it is not those super expensive ones you guys have. LOL. This is just what I needed! Let me ask, do you recommend covering with straw if I am seeding bare dirt? I don’t want the birds having their way with it! Will the topsoil be enough to protect it without a straw covering?
Mmmm it can't hurt Don. If the top soil is pretty loose you should be able to just rake it in and keep the soil moist. If you have access to straw you can add it on top of the grass seed. I've not really experienced an issue with birds eating my Arden 15. They're more after the worms than seed.
Ron, you’ve recommended about 1inch of water a week during normal maintenance, but during an overseeding job, what do you recommend a week of watering?
Hi Mauro. I would just focus on keeping the ground moist. I wouldn't run a a full irrigation cycle each time you water. Just water enough so the seeds don't dry out. For example it's raining in Georgia today so you wouldn't need to water the seeds today or likely even most of tomorrow. Great question.
Great vid as usual! What is the difference between humic acid and biochar? I use quite a bit of humic acid and was thinking about adding some biochar as well.
Hi Mr. Green thumb. They both enhance the soil's nutrient availability. Humic acid comes from really old (pre-historic) plant and animal decay. It's a concentrated way of adding nutrients to the soil which helps stimulate microbial activity. Biochar basically charcoal derived from plants improves the soil's ability to hold on to nutrients and ultimately make them available to the grass. Charged biochar (the kind in CarbonPro G and Essential-G is also a pH optimizer in that it attempts to bring soil pH to the neutral zone (mid 6s.) Both are great for improving your soil quality.
