Top Dressing, Leveling and Overseeding Lawn with Arden 15
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 тра 2021
- My guide to top dressing, leveling and overseeding your Bermuda lawn using a super high quality sand and soil blend. As a bonus you'll see how to seed arden 15 bermuda grass. The arden 15 seeding process is pretty easy so be sure to watch the entire video.
I show how to top dress and level your lawn using tools ranging from a broom to a leveling rake. I cover basic and advanced lawn leveling techniques. The leveling mix I'm using for this top dressing project is from Super Sod. This top dressing leveling mix consists of 70% silica sand and 30% compost called Soil3 that is a rich source of organic material to feed the soil. Arden 15 is the Bermuda grass seed I'm using to overseed my lawn. It has better cold tolerance, deeper green and blends very well with Tifway 419.
My top dressing process includes mowing your lawn short, marking sprinkler heads, core aeration, fertilization, top dressing and spot lawn leveling. Be sure to watch the entire guide for bonus top dressing and other tips sprinkled throughout!

@@RonHenry Hey man!! Thanks sooooo much my lawn is really coming along!! I’m getting ready to top dress soon but I’m wondering if I should dethatch before I drop all the sand on my lawn. I dethatched last year and made a big difference. I just didn’t want to hinder the Bermuda from really popping through. Thanks so much!!! Love the videos they are super helpful!!!!!! God Bless
Saw your video on the lawn ginja’s channel and subscribed right after! Very helpful and great videos so far!
@@wscdiesel Thanks so much Hustlin! I really appreciate it.
This was like some "This Old House" level content - showing all the top end tool options all the way down to the hand tools. I really enjoy watching your content my friend.
That was the goal Allyn! I wanted to show a couple of different ways for accomplishing the same task so people didn't tune out when they saw all the heavy equipment. Hopefully I kept them watching long enough to get to those part. Really appreciate you watching and chiming in. It was a beast of an edit. 🙏😎
100% agreed 👍👌🙌👏💯

Real solid content. I just wish that yellow bag was available in Indianapolis. You all down south and southeast have it made!!!
Showing our age here with the This Old House reference. Lol That show was one of the original UA-cam channels.
I can't believe how many lawn nerds there are-almost 10K views in 24 hours! I bet you are everybody's favorite neighbor.
Thanks, man. Hopefully the video reaches more viewers. 😎
Appreciate you watching 🙏
Awesome video Ron 👍🏾
Thanks so much Michael! Was a ton of work. So happy that it's done now. Thanks for watching sir.
Great video. Wish all my neighbors were like Ron and Alex.
Appreciate it Christopher. Alex is pretty awesome. Thanks for watching.
Man, I was tired when I saw your IG, but I'm downright exhausted after watching this video...👏👏👏❣❣❣
Right!? It was a ton of work. Glad we got it done. Thanks for watching. Appreciate the support.
Definitely! I didn't know hydretain came in granular, so I'm super happy to learn about that!
Yep! It sure does! Links in the description for it.

Thanks AmandaandLeeloo. If there’s anyone else you think could benefit from this video, feel free to share it.
Ron, I started following your videos last Spring (2021) to get ideas regarding products to improve my lawn. We had major construction on our home during the summer and fall of 2020 and our once beautiful lawn was nothing but mud! Construction was completed the second week of December (2020) and I knew I had my work cut out for me in the Spring of 2021. I followed all your suggestions on lawn growth, seeding, fertilizing, cutting and tools to make the job easier. You should see my lawn now (April 15, 2022). WOW! Beautiful green thick grass is now once again a permanent feature of our home 🤗. I could not have done it without all your recommendations…I can’t thank you enough! Happy Easter, Ron!
Thanks so much Dr. Who. I really appreciate the kind words. Glad to have played a small part in improving your lawn. Sounds like you had major work done. Glad the lawn is getting back to where you want it to be. Happy Easter. 🙏😎
I know you want to get the video out as soon as possible but if you could wait a month or two to give us a "before and after" shot at the end that would be fantastic! Thanks for all this!

So been checking out a few of these vids of yours. I recently did an 8k sod job on my front yard. Purchased this home 3yrs ago. Previous owner cut corners on the lawn. Only laid sod 20 ft from edge of house into yard. Front yard is 265 ft wide and 60 ft deep. Previous owner had home for 6yrs. I purchased the home and 3yrs in realized that the St Augustine would never grow out to cover front yard. So being I live in between Houston and Conroe Tx where we either get massive amounts of rain or no rain for 30 days with 92f to 100f deg everyday I needed to do something. Front yard had 7 pine trees 60ft to 90ft tall. Th excessive pine straw and cones year around absorbed every drop of water on one end of yard along with the sweet gum and black jack oaks and the Chinese ash the grass didn’t stand a chance. So I removed 4 pines 2 sweet gums and 2 ash. Ground all the stumps removed all debris and brought in 30yds of top soil 25 yds of farmers compost and tilled it all in. Extended sprinklers system with 3 new stations 11 heads and 530ft of pipe. Started watering about 30 minutes a day along with some real good rains and in 2 weeks my front yard is unrecognizable. My question for you is I would like to begin applying a leveling material. Since my lawn is so young I don’t want to weaken it. In a month the temperature here will begin reaching the mid 90’s f. I will of course continue watering all I need. I have a water well so unless we run into a 90 day drought I should be ok. So let me know what you think i should use.
Wow MP. You're doing a MAJOR renovation. Very, ver cool. You can apply leveling mix without issue as long as you go light. Don't bury the entire lawn in sand. What you saw me do in this video about as heavy as you need to go. With temperatures going up, the lawn should push through the sane quickly and recover nicely. Between all the tree removals, stump grinding and top soil work, you're definitely on the home stretch. Keep going. The nice thing about leveling your lawn with a 70 /30 sand/compost mix is you can do it several times in a season if you want. The big thing is to go light. Thanks so much for watching and definitely keep me posted on how the lawn develops. 👍😎
Good timing! I’ll start the topdress process Friday. As usual, good stuff! 👍
Awesome James. Glad you found it useful sir. Let me know how your project goes. Thanks for watching sir.
Great job Ron! You definetly had the tools for the job for sure! Definetly made it much easier then just shovels and wheelbarrows
Most definitely Andy. I'd still be out there if I were using a wheelbarrow. The machines save time and help with more consistent application. Thanks for watching man. Much appreciated.
Anytime Ron! I imagine the lawn must be really flat after multiple leveling jobs?
Nice video! Good ol hard work. Great to have the right (working) machines to get the job done

Very nice Torence. If you're in the 90s already, you definitely want to get your top dressing done. Lawn should bounce back quickly. Better now than mid summer. Thanks for watching.
@@RonHenry Your welcome. I’m waiting for my Essential G to arrive. Emailed you pics on how lawn is coming together.

Only found you yesterday. Love your vids! Subscribed 👍
Welcome aboard s1914! Really appreciate you watching the content. Thanks for the support.
The edditing and content of this video is top notch!
Wow, your lawn is 3 times bigger than my entire property, and I already have the biggest property in my area. It must be a ton of work to keep it as nice as it is. Over here, this year's spring is very cold with frost at night time even in May (last year we were sweatting at this time of the year). This realy slows down the germination process of my new lawn, and the pigeons have really developed a taste for my seeds. I have been re-applying seeds three times since March and it is still full of brown patches (also thanks to the pigeons). Can't wait for temperatures to finally match the time of the year.
Thanks so much Ewoodster. The edit was a ton of work. Fairly happy with how it came out though. The lawn is fairly large but not the biggest. It is one of the most flat lawns after Alex's. It only takes about 1 hour to mow so not too bad. Sorry to hear about the birds having a feast in your lawn. Warmer temps should be here soon at which point you should get better germination. Let me know if I can help with anything. Thanks for watching the content. Appreciate the support.

Thanks so much Mark. Appreciate you watching.
I like hydretain. Good call using it with seed. I’ve only used it in the summer.
Thanks Adam. Late May to early June is a good time for summer coverage. I prefer the granular for ease of application.
Wow wow. The rentals alone must have been really expensive. I wish Super Sod was available in Texas. I will have to find another substitute 😜. I have the rake and it’s awesome . Thanks Ron !!
Heya Phillips4 Energy. It wasn't cheap but renting the equipment is WAAAAAAAAY cheaper than paying someone to top dress the lawn. You should be able to find a SuperSod equivalent in Texas. Call around and look for places that carry a screened top dressing mix. That will minimize how much trash is in it. Appreciate you watching the content. Thanks for the support.
Great work Ron!
Thanks Scott! It was a ton of work. Painful project but I look forward to seeing how the lawn recovers.
@@RonHenry I just order 15 yards of top soil to cover construction area for the pool. And 7 pallets of grass. Next week is going to be brutal!
I do not envy you Scott. It will great once it’s done though!
Great job Ron. You guys went hard core this time. Not mad though. Going low-tech (manual) is back breaking.
Yeah Michael. I'd be in the hospital right now if I did all that with a wheelbarrow. Even with equipment, it was quite a workout. Still showed how to do it low-tech though. Thanks for watching sir. I appreciate it.
I don't sub very often but you got my sub this time. Great video.
I appreciate that Tony. Thanks for watching.
Hey Mr. Henry I love watching your channel and watching how you are maintaining your Arden 15, I have a Yukon and Manaco hybrid Bermuda lawn I started from seed in Marietta/Smyrna, Ga. I wanted to comment that your goal of topdressing with the 70/30 mix is to create a sand cap, like the professional turf fields have. So whenever you core aerate your clay base soil it is important to remove all plugs on the lawn, "how to with Doc" really covered in his aeration videos for his green, or his lushes common Bermuda lawn that he has been aerating and leveling for several seasons. He points out that the clay that is pulled out during the aeration process should be removed because when it is left on the surface it can be smashed flat by equipment causing little bumps that do not mix well with the sand leveling, thus preventing you from developing a greens grade rooting mix cap that you are going for, and cause you to have to level even more to get a rooting cap of about 1.5"-2" thick. What I would suggest base on the nutrient program you have, is that you run a rotary mower at an inch, on mulch setting, so to grind up all the cores and help return the nutrients from them into the soil in a way that won't cause you to have to level your yard even more to get the results you desire.
Thanks for chiming in Broc. The plugs on my lawn from aeration were broken up when I worked the sand in with the leveling rake. I've not experienced issues with any of them getting mashed flat and causing bumps in the lawn. I could totally see picking up plugs if you're creating a green in your lawn but that's not my goal. I'm only mowing just under half an inch so very far from actual greens heights of cut. Appreciate the feedback.
@@RonHenrythe point about the low height comes in because of how thick your canopy is. So if a person with mostly clay Georgia soil, like mine, would want to pick up the cores since the clay around me tends to not break down to a small enough size to work into the canopy of low cut heights. One of the reasons I like to remove them is so that the aeration holes could be entirely filled with rooting mix/sand, allowing for more water penetration. thus allowing you to remove some clay from your soil and replace it with the nutrient from granular products like you did. Hope your lawn holds in there through these storms so I can see the Adren 15 truly outcompete the common that is in there. Also these storms will really be a test to see how well the Level mix works to hold seed down and not wash out like people say river sand tends to do.
@@brocbailey9384 I think you should remove the cores if you think there's a big benefit to it. I just posted to my UA-cam stories about the state of the lawn with all the heavy rain coming down. So far so good. Thanks for watching sir!
Damn dude. Love your passion. New subscriber from this video.

@@RonHenry where can I send them?
@@raphymartinez ron@golfcourselawn.com
Just a word about Big Yellow Bag - the product is not consistent from franchise to franchise. What you received was exactly what I wanted and expected. However, I received a bag that was a high percentage of their rich black garden soil and hardly any sand. No good for top dressing if the goal is creating a sand cap. I had asked for the ratio of sand to peat moss (which was another problem - it was garden soil, not peat like the website said) and they said it was a trade secret; they wouldn't answer the question. To make a long story short, I had to send back my two bags and go with masonry sand.
Heya Frank. Thanks for letting us know. That's definitely something to bring up to them when ordering the leveling mix; that it needs to be a 70 / 30 blend so that you get the best of both worlds. I'm not sure why they call it a trade secret. It's on their website that it's 70 /30. I don't believe there's peat moss in Soil3. It's grass, wheat straw and manure. You can see the details of it here: www.soil3.com/benefits-of-soil3#how-its-made Sorry you didn't have a good experience with the product. Appreciate you chiming in. 👍😎
Must be different for the Canadian products and franchises. I wish your product had been available to me north of the border.
Great work Ron!! Hopefully you have a few grains of sand left after our flood today! 😆
Oh there’s tons of it out there Craig. If you’re on your phone check my UA-cam stories for top dressing updates after the rain. The lawn looks great. No sand loss.
@@RonHenry You aren’t joking!! Held on nicely! I’m sure the aeration helped it to stay put as well. My 2 year old turned over a plant on the back deck and has been driving cars through the piles of soil the last few days. The downpour put his ‘dirt track’ into the backyard. 🤣 #freeorganics

It looks so good that my wife told me "the grass looks fake".. thank you sir!!!

The right mower is hugely important thimitri. It’s only going to get better with time.
Great video. I’m going to try some too dressing this year to address some issues. I just hope my newly repaired Achilles holds out since I will be using the hand tool options.
Just go slow and take your time Papa Mows Low. I know a guy that top dressed 4000 square feet using Gorilla cart, shovel and a leveling rake. The manual option can produce just as good or even better result. Thanks for watching sir.
Great video! Hopefully it's holding up well and you aren't getting this 3+" of rain like we are in NW Atlanta... and this is just day 1 of a 3 day forecast.
Heya Theo. Check my UA-cam stories on your phone. It’s holding up really well. No sand loss on the front lawn. Back is looking good too
Good video Ron! Did you guys buy that mix from Super Sod? That stuff is not cheap. I wish we had the access to equipment you do in your area. Just a personal observation, but the work you did in this video is kind of toward the higher end of lawn maintenance and how to get a golf course lawn. It's great too see and watch, but it may be out of the $$ range for the avg lawn guys. Looking like you're going to have a great year!!!
I show a combination of techniques Brian. You don't need a dingo and top dressing machine to level your lawn. In this and other videos, I do show how to do top dress using basic tools. 😎 The only "luxury" tool I think everyone should spring for is a good leveling rake. It makes the job much easier. Keep in mind that what you're seeing on my lawn wasn't done in a year. This is year 6 of me working on it. The 7 bags of the level mix were donated by Super Sod. Alex and I paid for all the equipment and to have an additional 5 yards of sand delivered to complete the project. Thanks for watching. 🙏
This is like an edition of MTV Cribs when they go through their luxury cars only replace luxury cars with top of the line lawn equipment.
Haha. That wasn't the intention D T. Just wanted to show a bunch of different options for doing top dressing. Everything from a wheel barrow and rake, to actual top dressing machine and Dingo. Hopefully that came across. Thanks for watching sir.
@@RonHenry you're setting a new standard with this video.
@@delt19 Thanks DT. Well if' I'm going to put "Ultimate Guide" on the thumbnail, it better be the best I can do right? :-)
Nice.
Thanks Kodiak Wild. Appreciate you watching.
Great video, there's another type of machine I don't know the name of it, but it's almost like the one you ate using, but it's more like a spreader, it spreads out wider to cover more space, and saves a lot of time. Thanks
Thanks Eric. There are rotary broadcast spreaders for sand. I just don't know anywhere locally that rents them.
Can't wait to see how nice will that pop up.
You and me both Lawn Sensei. So happy that it's all done. ✅ Appreciate you watching.
@@RonHenry I am curious about where you took that sand. I don't seem to find good sand here in PNW.
@@TheLawnSensei where I took it Lawn Sensei? It was spread all over the entire lawn. Some areas heavier than others but the goal was to not bury the lawn in sand.
@@RonHenry may be the question was misleading! I wanted to know where you buy it!
Ohhhhhh. Here. Get Soil3: ron-henry.com/topdressing Search your area for suppliers of golf course grade sand and you’ll be good to go. The local gold courses are getting their sand from somewhere nearby. 👍😎
I pick up my cores because the sod that was laid down was grown in clay. So my intent over the next few years is to reduce the amount of clay in my soil so I remove the plugs and discard them with the other green waste.
Gotcha J Anthony. My soil was the exact same way too though. It's become more sandy as I've top dressed it over the years but I started out with that red GA clay we all love.
With clay you better pick up cores or you will mash them and kill your grass. Sandy cores that just fall apart are fine.
one of your best Bro all the way down to your choice of music. gotta find that aerator cause that Ryan kicked my butt. just finished aeration and top dressing and
of course I got a heavy rain and now sand is all over my sidewalk cant catch a break with this weather
Thanks so much man. The edit took 7ish hours. The final video is 13 minutes but that came from over 9 hours of footage. Took a while to go through all of it. I’d highly recommend the billy goat over the Ryan. Much less hard on you.
Aerated last friday. I'll get some play sand and mix with the seed and try this method. Gotta get me one of those leveling tools asap. Lowes and Home depot dont have them on hand.
Hi Charles. You don't absolutely have to mix with play sand but I like to do it. Helps the seed go down more consistently. I have a link in the description for the leveling rake. Home Depot and Lowes won't have it because it's a fairly specialized product. Thanks for watching sir.
Ron you are the Goat! Love your content bro. Do u have stickers for purchase ? I want to pimp out my Earthway
Thanks so much Robbie. I appreciate it sir. I have a merch store here that has stickers: ua-cam.com/users/RonHenrystore Thanks for the support. I appreciate it.
Ron I believe they make a broadcast top dresser. It’s just a matter finding one for rent in South Fulton.
They do Joshua. They're just difficult to get your hands on. For most people, the drop style is better since it allows you go heavier in the areas you want. The broadcast style is better for lawns that are already smooth. Appreciate you chiming in man.
Great video Ron. When should some start this whole process in GA?
May or June is the ideal time. You can do it later in summer too if you want but earlier in the season is better.
Excellent detailed information! How much do you spend on your lawn each year? Do you want to come to Ireland to fix my garden 😎
That would be a long trip
I have put out sand yesterday and noticed two people this morning (next morning) walking by, that thought “why the heck did they put that dirt all over their yard?” 😂😂
They’ll see in a few weeks. Juust wait. 😂 There’s a method to the madness.
Great Video Ron. I am coming up on my second leveling this year went with 100% sand with River sand Inc.'s USGA product. I am debating going with a mix this year as I don't know if i want to spend the money on the soil3 prices for 8000 sqft or see what River sand carries. trying a little later in the month as my recovery took longer last year when i did it at the end of April. I have found that it is alot harder to find the top dress machine then a dingo. Although Toro does have a shortage of the dingo's. Keystone seams to be the closes place to me with one for rent and I am on the other side of north GA in Canton. The pregnant wife says she will enjoy watching me do it by hand this year as she was my Wheelbarrow filler last year :)
Hi Nicholas. If you've had good results with River Sand Inc's sand, I would just keep using that. If River Sand Inc offers a sand/soil mix then give a shot and see how it works. I agree that the Soil3 level mix is a bit pricey. It's great stuff though. Maybe if you're getting a bunch of it, they might discount. If you can wait until late May to June, the lawn will recover faster. I wanted to get this done now to have some content for you guys and also because temps are where they need to be for Arden 15 to germinate. Keystone is great to work with. Worst case, a wheelbarrow and leveling rake will get the job done too. You'll want help though. :-) Let me know if I can help with anything else. Thanks for watching Nicholas.🙏😎
These are the kind of videos I like,,Hands on and showing how it's done..Now as a beginner I have to ask why do you need to do this seems like the lawn is already perfect and how much would someone charge per let's say 1,000 Sq ft area to do it by hand??....And do you have a How to book or just the UA-cam videos?
I didn't actually need to top dress this year gringochoppers. I really wanted to make better quality top dressing video than my previous ones. I have a course at golfcourselawn.com There and UA-cam is where my content is.
Ron that sure is a lot of work! And you did 1.5 other.
Most definitely was Grace. I’m glad it’s done. Alex’s lawn then bro in law’s lawn.
Wow!!! Must have been so much fun throwing all that down! What are your thoughts on using a drag mat rather than a leveling rake?
Excellent video!! Lots of hard work, but with the right tools, it can be enjoyable! And you’ve showcased that extremely well in this video. Can’t wait to see the results.
Oh it was "funn" Vince. :-) I've never used a drag mat so can't say for sure. I think a combination of both would probably be best. A leveling rake is awesome for getting really precise with fixing low areas in the lawn. I imagine a drag mat would do well for broad scale leveling. Combination is probably best. Thanks so much for watching sir. I tried to cover as many different options as possible. Appreciate the support.
@@RonHenry quick questions... how do you obtain that kind of top dressing and how much would one expect to pay for just one of those pallets/bags?
@@TheLawngineer Heya Vince. If you're using the exact stuff that I used, it would be $200 for a bag of it. I believe it's only available in GA, NC and SC though. ron-henry.com/topdressing If you find out where local golf courses are getting their sand, I would get it here. If you want a higher grade sand, ask for silica / quartz. It will cost a bit more but also wears better. The first time you top dress, I would go with a 70/30 mix. Hope this helps.
@@RonHenry thanks Ron! I’m in PA... so might have to ask the local course to see where they get their stuff. I’ve been looking for exactly this kind of mix. Never thought to ask the local golf course... how would one do that? Like, just walk in and ask where they get there sand?
I could probably just go through some other networks I have who know some of the superintendents... but I’d feel awkward just walking in without knowing anyone.
Yep. Just call them up or go in person and ask if you can talk to the superintendent. He/She will be able to point you in the right direction. Just tell them you’re a lawn fanatic and want to top dress your lawn. It’s something really for grass being mowed shorter though. What height of cut are you at?
Top dressing 5k Sq ft today. Having a crew come do it so it's done in 40 mins lol. Aerated earlier last week.
Tim now THAT is the way to get top dressing done. Literally this weekend, I was thinking, "This is why I paid a service to do this the first time." 😂 So much pain. Should be worth it though.
@@RonHenry Wife and I did it last year in June here in Texas....was rough lol. Had the means to have a yard service do it this year so we decided to go for it. Yard is pretty bumpy so maybe next year we will do it ourselves again. Since it shouldn't be a huge undertaking. Keep up the good work sir! Love your videos!
@@timborski1210 Getting a service to do the first correction makes a lot of sense Tim. Now that you know what the process is like, you guys will be able to get the lawn right where you want it. It's a lot of work but very rewarding once it's done. Thanks so much for watching the content Tim.
Great video..... Funny you didn't mention cost of project..... Lol.... I'm guessing a small fortune.... Wish I could afford to do all that to my yard.... I'm sure your have excellent results....
It wasn’t cheap John but still much cheaper than paying a service. Looking forward to seeing the results from the work. You don’t have to top dress with all the heavy duty equipment. Sand, wheelbarrow, shovel and leveling rake will get it done. Thanks for watching sir.
Hey Ron nice job! I’m hopefully laying sod this week the sprinklers going In Wednesday. I’m not sure how often I should water once sod is placed down. I live in west Texas pretty dry hot heat.
Hi Justin. I would water twice a day for the first week and then back it down to every other day. You don't want it soggy but at the same time, don't let the new sod dry out. If the sod hasn't gone down as yet, see about getting some Essential-G since that will help with rooting. It would go down before the sod does. golfcourselawn.store/products/essential-g%E2%84%A2-granular-carbon-free-shipping
Another excellent presentation, Ron! Your matter of fact certainty and articulation, like Candace Owens, are inspiring and very influential. Well done!
Wow, thank you! I'm in good company Richard. :-)
I'm getting old.....I am in UA-cam looking at videos on lawn care lmao
Hahahaha. It's funny demontank76. I hated mowing grass when I was a kid. Look at me now. 😂👍
What is your endgame for the lawn. If you wanted it to be a total, level flat plane you should have had a grader come in to level your big field lawn. It will always be wavy.
Goal is smooth not necessarily flat Jrb11. Thanks for watching.
New to your channel but its one of the best in content and making things simple for those new to lawn care- much appreciated. I have a small back yard that has some fig trees and grape barb (vine) along with a small patch of grass maybe about 300ft- my issue is they all share the same soil-so I am always concerned about what products I introduce to the lawn (bc it will get absorbed by the fig/grape roots as well. Any suggestions in regards to fertilizer/herbicide? The grass type is Scotts sun and shade mix but been over seeding the last 2 seasons with just perennial rye.
Hi Frank. Given that you're also growing food there, I would stick to the more organic route. A great product to improve soil health that also has a lot of compost in it, is Essential-G. It would be great on both your grass and garden. golfcourselawn.store/products/essential-g%E2%84%A2-granular-carbon-free-shipping Thanks for watching the content sir. Appreciate the kind words. 👍😎
They never said having a golf course Turf Lawn was going to be cheap or easy especially if it is done the right way.....
But I read comments occasionally that mention your old hobby used to be fast cars, so it's a possibility this is still cheaper. and cars certainly don't increase your property value either 😂
In all seriousness, how did you like those big yellow bags of top-dressing you had delivered?
Heya Jack Man 13. Having done cars, RC helicopters, and a few other hobbies I can assure that lawn care (even a golf course lawn) is FAAAAR cheaper. Like way cheaper. I really like the big yellow bags. The material is really really clean. Out of 7 tons of leveling mix, I pulled about a handful of small pebbles out. It's much better than previous leveling mixes I've used. Not cheap, but it is good quality material. Let me know if I can help with anything else. Appreciate you watching. 👍😎
Great video, Ron. My lawn is rising almost as fast as Doge coin, lol. Hopefully it is on a much more sound foundation!
Hahaha. Glad to hear that it's growing in nicely Marc F. If you were planning to top dress this year, the window is definitely opening now! :-)
What if you're not working on a 1/2" carpet and have a shitty old regular lawn? Great video, I clearly have some work to do.
You can still improve it Bender. We all start somewhere. At a high level the process is outlined here: golfcourselawn.store/collections If you want more detail, there's an article on my blog.
Awesome video sir!! Grass seed for overseed goes down before top soil right? If I use a machine to lay top soil like with carbonizpn for example, should you still use the leveling rake to spread it or is that if you lay it by shovel/wheeel barrow? Cheers!
