God is on your side IF you are in truth, but if you are not He has given you over to strong delusions that you WILL believe the lies of men!

John, you've lost the whole point because you missed out the essential part of the conversation. When the arrest party arrived in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus asked them, "Who is it you want?", and they replied, "Jesus of Nazareth." However, it was only when Jesus answered, "I AM (he)" that they fell over backwards. Why? Because by using the holy name of God - I AM, YHWH - he was effectively claiming to be God.
Furthermore, there would not have been anywhere near as many as 500 men in the arrest party, and your claim that "the whole Roman army fell flat in the dirt" is ridiculous exaggeration. Please don't add to God's Word things it doesn't say. The soldiers were temple guards not Roman soldiers from the Fort of Antonia. Jesus taking on himself God's holy name would mean nothing to Romans, but to Jews - WOW! And I don't think Peter struck out at the high Priest's servant because he felt invincible; he did it because he acted impetuously, according to his nature, to protect his Lord and Master. But I agree he was trying to cut off the servant's head, not just his ear.
