Thanks for the really in depth and beginner friendly video. I am just getting into fpv and so many videos assume the viewer already know the basics and I don’t lol. Particularly, I was confused why RX and TX were crossed on the control link. A couple other videos I watched just said “remember to cross these wires” with no explanation as to why which was confusing to me because I didn’t know what the letters meant and wondered why you wouldn’t pair like connections. Your video has really helped to clarify the process of building an fpv drone for me.
Great video! Pls keep making drone builds. And we need link to direct purchase so we dont need to cruise around finding parts. Keep it up brother, fly on!
What size capasitor did you solder onto the battery leads? Very easy vid for a beginner to understand. This is the exact build I was planing on building but I will use a DJI controller and goggles.
I recently found the supafly setup with my v3 stack and OH MY! It feels amazing! Makes me want to buy his frame now also. Just load the preset and go! Now you just need the Bubby spoiler mod. 😉
Good video, what battery do you recommend I use, I have in mind a 1550 6s, my motors are 2207 1860kv 6s. They are 24 v, there is no problem using a 22.2 v one, and it does not affect the ESC or the driver
I'm also using the F405 V4 and ELRS. I did'nt remove the RX Cables from the O3 Unit. Just configurated in betaflight the ELRS RX and I works like a charm.
Great video, thanks man. Where do you usually buy all these parts? Ive been looking at Ali and amazon, but can't find any of the names you set. Based in north Europe.
I buy most of my parts from Pyrodrone. They are located in California, USA. But I also order from RaceDayQuads and GetFPV they are both in Florida, USA. Some of the vendors do list on amazon though. Check Banggood.com, they have lots of fpv stuff. Its kinda like Chinese amazon.
@@AdarshChandruofficial yes you can use any remote as long as the receiver will connect to it. you can use the dji remote 2 and connect directly to the air unit. or I recommend using ELRS like I am in the video and most people do. the receivers are cheap and easy to buy anywhere. And a wide variety of remotes to choose from. any controller that has ELRS built into it will connect to any drone with an ELRS receiver. doesn't matter what video system your using. the remote and receiver are separate from the O3, unless you are using the dji remote 2. you could use the O3 with ELRS or TBS Crossfire or ghost. you are buying the remote based on what control link you want not based on the O3, again unless you are going to use the O3 as your receiver with the dji remote 2. hope this makes sense.
Hi, I wrote you from Argentine. What tape did you use to mount the dji o3 on the frame and where can I buy the camera spacer for the fpv camera mount? Thanks.
Out of curiosity I was looking into the integra googles and using the o3 air unit on a build, but do they require remoteID to use them or is it still “optional” on DIY drones
Yeah technically I think everyone is supposed to have remote ID on all their drones wether they are home built or not. That being said probably 90% or more of people who build and fly don't have it and never will. The Government is not gonna come knocking at your door unless you fly somewhere super illegal like an airport and then post the video online. My recommendation is just not to worry about it and fly safely in areas you know aren't illegal or unsafe to fly in, pay attention and use common sense.
I’m new in this, does the o3 module just transmit video or does it also control the drone, I’m confused because it’s says that the fpv controller 2 is compatible with the o3 module so this means that the o3 controls the drone?
Hello, how are you?, I'm assembling my first fpv drone if I leave the 6pin cable of DJI 03 connected and put a receiver elrs is there any problem leaving the two connected together?, I use a DJI controller 2
Well if you’re using the DJI controller 2 then you can bind that to the DJI O3 air unit. The controller 2 will only work with the O3 air unit, it won’t work with any other receivers like elrs or crossfire. So if your using the controller 2 just leave all 6 wires hooked up and the O3 air unit will be your receiver. In betaflight on the receiver tab set it to sbus, then use the bind button on the O3 and put the controller 2 into binding mode and they will link. There should be plenty of videos showing how to set that up though. Hope this helps 👍
As long as your radio has elrs and the drone receiver is elrs they will bind and work fine. Just make sure the receiver is 2.4ghz. There is elrs 900mhz but it’s not very common for freestyle quads. A 1400 6s would be fine. Make sure you get 6s motors this build I did was 4s.
@@capbabyface2505 I didn't put links to the parts. I have the parts list in the description. I buy almost all my parts from pyrodrone. You should be able to find them there if not race day quads or getfpv will have the parts. And this particular frame was from rotorriot.
Ok bro nice one, will try it on my next build. Also, you’re getting 50mbps, I’m from the uk so done the fcc hack. Not sure if you have to do that where you are but you running on auto low power mode, or off?
@@Jackdronesmedia Im in the U.S and we get 50mbps out of the box but I still do FCC hack to unlock all 3 channels at 50mbps. I run the auto low power on all my O3 quads and haven't had an issue, as soon as I arm it goes full output which you can see in the OSD for mbps.
@@andrewmedia3568 I spent so long learning how to print on enders, but I just press print and get better results with this. 1kg of tpu is 20$ and you can print all you need from online models.
Technically about 6 miles. Ive seen people fly them further, but the main limiting factor is how big of a battery you can strap on and still fly. This is a 5" quad made for general flying and freestyle. Once you get into the 7" class you can support larger batteries and fly longer/further.
Thanks! no video showed or explained all that goes with the wires of the dji 03 unit. Hard to make sense of this on bardwells videos since he dosn't like to use the dji controller. understandable...

Hi, great build btw. How long is the flight time of this drone?
What remote controller you use for the O3 unit ? DJI or something else ? You did not explain about that ? Can you suggest?
