The flush mount screws are called counter-sunk screws and those have a tapered head bolt. incase you need replacements or want to compare other frames. I like this frame a lot, but i like the FlyFish RC Valador 5D/5X Frame, especially when running the O3 or anything similiar to that for nice camera mounts for vibration resistance and keeps the camera gaurded as much as possible from a front end crash.
My first build, way back in April, was a Speedybee Master 5 HD V1. The thing is a beast with a Speedybee F7 V3 stack, O3 air Unit, and T-Motor F60 Pro V 1950 KV. While I have gotten much better at building, and my freestyle fleet consists of mostly Quadmula frames, I still fly that Speedybee, and I still love it! It's been a spectacular quadcopter!

great video, wish i had looked at it before i started my build. like all chinese guide lines put them straight in the bin, now i can finish with no problems, thanks.
Solder joints are pretty good. Those purple lock nuts are for the bottom of the stack, however. Typically you'd use those flat nylon nuts for the top of the stack. Of course, you can do whatever you want.... Cheers -

Great video man i didn't agree with some stuff like another commenter but damn its your quad build it your way didnt stop me from watching till the end
I dont think so. The wires are pretty stuck down and stable. I also believe the Gyro is on top of the FC and the wires are on the bottom. But I suppose it still could be an issue. Ill check it out thanks.
Good vid mate, just alter your final descent speed m/second and change it to like 2 as 5 is far to fast, and alter the landing height (final descent) to 9 or 10 metres, great vid dude
really liked the video man. from the build to getting out there and flying. I just got into FPV this year and been having a blast. I've built 6 quads already and my Goggles X come in next week so I look forward to seeing how that works. You showed me exactly what I want to test and very informative. I wanted to ask about the OSD you show on your video you said it wasnt from the goggles so what did you use and how did you get it to show up?
Thanks I appreciate it. The goggles X are looking pretty rad, the goggles dont natively record osd elements to the DVR so I went on GitHub and found a free software/app that allows you to drop the DVR footage in and then the text file the goggles also record, text file being the osd elements. And then you can choose whatever osd font you wanna use, drop all that in and render it out giving you full osd on your goggle DVR footage like you saw in my video. The app/software is called Walksnail OSD Tool. Its free to download from github.
@@andrewmedia3568 Thank you! I'll have to check it out as soon as I get my goggles in. It's funny that the one thing it doesn't do is what annoys me most about the DJI Goggles Integra. The OSD elements record on there and I cannot remove it when I fly with the Caddx Vista builds I have. So I have no clean video with my Flylens85 which I love flying. Really good drone!
I think I remember you putting 2 of the parts in that were for the front and you put them pointed to the one side. Don’t know nothing about drones though. Configuration maybe?
I just got one of these frames and instructions say long arms are front and short arms are back but there is no way the arms fit to the bottom plate the holes don’t match up no matter which way I try. The only way they will work is the long arms are in the rear if this is not correct then I need to return the frame.
Yes the instructions are wrong the longer arms always go in the rear because they sweep back. I have the longer in the rear short up front and it all fits flush. 👍
Thanks I’m using your video to build my SpeedyBee master 5 V2 5” frame I’m also mounting a walksnail avatar Pro kit. I have FatShark HDO2 google so I’m using the avatar VRX. system. I’m putting in a SpeedyBee F405 V4 Stack - F4 V4 FC + 55A BLHeli_S ESC - 30x30 this is my 1st HD quad can’t wait to try it out. Thanks again for your response.
what is the dimension from back of camera to front of VTX module? I want to get a new SpeedyBee Master 5 HD 5" frame but i think it is longer and the Walksnail Avatar Pro Kit has a coaxial cable that is only 140mm long?
That really depends on your budget. Cheapest HD goggles for the walksnail system are 279$ for the FatShark Recon HD. If you want to use DJI their cheapest goggles for HD are 349$ for the Goggles integra. If thats too much Analog is still a great option and you can pick up some analog goggles for 70-100$ the EV800D or betafpv VR03, emax transporter 2 analog. check out pyrodrone, racedayquads and getfpv. they all have a great selection and prices. And the VTX for analog is much cheaper as well.
This is a really cool setup. I'm just getting into fpv I ended up buying somebody's collection for a deal I got three Ready To Fly and three frames all the frames do have Motors they're all 2206 and 2205. I'm wanting to set one up so it flies like a regular drone but can switch through all the flight modes. What is GPS with a compass allow it to hover on it's own?
I don't think the compass allows it to hover on its own. you would have to set that up manually specific to the weight of the drone or use inav or something.
HI I have ordered the same parts as you but accidentally ordered a different receiver. I ordered the RP1 reciever from radiomaster which is ELRS,Iwanted to know why it only had space for one antenna and how i could remove it for a longer one.
The RP1 is a single antenna receiver, it will work fine for most flying unless your doing long range. I was using the RP3, but either one will work fine. And you can just grab near the UFL connector and lift up and it should pop off so you can put a longer antenna on.
You buy a video transmitter that works with your goggles, same with analog, with digital you bind your "whatever brand" goggles to your" whatever brand" video transmitter
Hi, Could you please share links for the props you have ordered as well as their caps and the smoke stopper. I wanted to know if you have used a 4s or a 6s battery Also i have built the same type of drone and goggles and wanted to know if i needed any antennas for the goggles and if the motors you have suggested are the best or are there is a better option
The props are HQ j37, I’m not sure what you mean by caps. Any smoke stopper will do fine. I order most my parts from pyrodrone, racedayquads and getfpv. Sometimes rotorriot if the other 3 don’t have what I need. This quad is 4s. If your goggles don’t have any antennas on them yes you need antennas.
@@andrewmedia3568 Could you share a link for the antennas you have as there are many and I am confused also could you share a link for the vtx as I have selected one but am not sure if it is the right one
Yes you can since the pin out is the same. You can use any fc to esc cable as long as the plugs work. The only time you would have to worry about it is if you bought the fc and esc separately then you would have to re pin the plug most likely.
@@andrewmedia3568 I saw on another comment that these motors are not capable Of 6s, (This is my first build) I have a 6s but when i plug it in the capacitor heats up and glows and motors are jumpy and not acting right. Would this be cause by the 6s battery? I should swap to a 4s?
@@andrewmedia3568 I was able to fix my issues with the Heat and motors not working. I changed the motor output. But everytime i go to fly it just flips. I cant get it to work correctly or lift. I did not have a long Esc to FC cable (Ordered Today) so my FC is facing the same way as the Esc, Could this be why it just flips?
@@gameplayhost That could be why. plug your quad into betaflight and check the setup tab look at the 3D model on screen and make sure your quad is tilting the same way as the model. tilt your quad front and back left and right and make sure its the same. If its not you can go to the configuration tab and change board and sensor alignment. the other thing that will cause that is the motor direction on the motors tab. make sure that when you arm the quad your motors are spinning the same way that it shows in the upper left of the motors tab. If its props in or props out you can just change it on the motors tab to match what your motors are doing.
@@prawnwonder4923 The batteries I use that I recommend for a 5” quad is 1300-1550mah size and brands I use are ovonic, Zee, GnB, Tattu fun fly or R line.
btw, the instructions that comes with the frame incorrectly indicates the front and rear arms short ones are indicated as rear ones, and long ones as front ones, but the frame can`t be assembled that way
good to know, didn't know why it did that but I did notice that it corrects itself when you arm. Coming from the DJI Avata I think it can make you think something is very wrong. Had an issue with my Avata and had to run a calibration to fix it so it was scary to see a similar issue on a built quad.
@@andrewmedia3568 also i want this to be my first like kinda "budget" build are there any budget controllers and goggles u could recommend for this build (i haven't really gotten into fpv yet)
@@doomboy5911 For budget radio I’d say Radiomaster pocket(elrs version).before anything I would watch a bunch of UA-cam videos on every topic, motors, batteries, frames, flight controllers, esc, receivers, radios, goggles, video systems. And beta flight tutorials. I did weeks if not months of research before buying. That being said stick with expresslrs (ELRS) for radio systems. It’s the most prevalent and hands down the best RF system. For goggles you might be able to still pick up a pair of fatshark dominator HD for about 380$. Or the fatshark HD box goggles. If you want HD I much prefer DJI but they are more expensive, but worth it. Don’t forget about the used market for gear.
what antenna did you mount at the front. my elrs receiver came with 2 short antennas but i want to buy the long one like you have and mount it the same way up front. can anyone link me an antenna that would work? i have the radiomaster RP4TD ELRS 2.4 receiver. this is my first build and really want to use gemini
Yeah most elrs rx come with short antennas I just look for any 2.4g antenna like tbs tracer is 2.4. Anything that’s 90mm or more in length that why one can be short and the longer one can extend to the front or rear. Check pyrodrone, racedayquads and getfpv. One of them should have some long 2.4g antennas .
You have that walksnail camera right, how do you get that live vidieo from your drone to the goggles does it have any app to connect the goggles to the walksnail camera
not sure I understand the question. You bind the goggles to your VTX and thats how you get the video in your goggles to fly. As for getting the recording from the goggles, you have to hit the record button on the goggles and have it setup to recored in the goggles in the menu options. And you have to have an SD card in the goggles.
the plug is slightly different. DJI plug is 6 pin plug and the walksnail is only 4. You could get a 6 pin and 4 pin and solder them together which I've done. But its easier to just solder the wires on the FC.
I know I'm asking too much. But I don't even understand how to build yet. And there are lots of brands and guides, how do I start without being overwhelmed with everything about branding.
When it comes to video systems whatever goggles you buy your stuck in that system for the most part. DJI goggles only work with dji video sytems (DJI O3 air units). Walksnail goggles only work with Walksnail video transmitters. Analog goggles will work with any analog VTX. As for the radio\ controller the only thing I would recommend is ELRS (ExpressLRS). they are Open source so any company can make the radios and receivers. And they are the most popular and available. So with video systems and radios whatever brand it is only works with that brand, so TBS (team black sheep)\ crossfire receivers only work with radios that have built in crossfire or a module on them. and again same for video systems. Outside of that, frames, motors, flight controllers and ESCs are all interchangeable. Just keep watching Build videos, and intro to FPV videos and I promise it will start to make sense. There is alot of weird words and brands and companies and its hard to know what works with what. Just keep doing your research and youtube is your best resource for that. Ill do my best to answer any other questions you have.
@@andrewmedia3568 i watched a video where frame was little thinner, esc was bit bigger , how to know that stack will fit in that frame. i m also new to build, i'v watched so many build videos on youtube... i am planning to invest in radiomaster boxer, dji goggles and o3 unit, help me in this, which dji goggles should i go for
Esc doesn’t matter directionally as much. The FC is 180 out, easy to change and confirm using the configuration tab and setup tab that shows the quad in real time moving while plugged in. And the motor tab just go through with the motor orientation and rotation wizard to tell BF which motor is where and what direction it is supposed to spin.
I just flip the switch off. I think if you have an actual failsafe once you get re link you have to move the sticks at least 30% to get control back, but with just using gps rescue on a switch you don’t. Make sure BF is set to sanity checks : failsafe only.
I agree 100% plus the fact that you can get a better solder joint on the pad when tinning if you cover the holes. I like the way you installed the cap. that's how I'm doing it from here on. Thanks for a good build vid.@@andrewmedia3568
Yes if the plugs match and the pinout matches. But sometimes it’s better to get power from a bat pad so when your flying li-ion packs that drop under 3v per cell you don’t lose video. Ask me how I know 😂.

Hey Dshot!! Very very good tutorial! I'm searching for fpv footage which has the flights telemetry in the metadata.... Do you have such video with the metadata available? I have been searching for such file on the net, since I want to write a small app which extract that data during a flight, to store it in a database.... I have no fpv drones myself or any videos from flight containing this data, so it's hard to get going.. =) Would it be possible to share such video?
Yeah sorry the Build videos already take so long to make and edit. And I wasn't sure people would watch that portion or it would be too long of a video. Joshua Bardwell has tons of videos on beta flight and quad setups. Maybe ill do a beta flight set up on my next build video.
Its a myth that all wires should be twisted , the rx and tx should be twisted with an earth , the live VCC Should be left untwisted. But they can be all heatshrunk together or better, in braid. My students made the same mistakes and in the laboratory you can see on an oscillascope the electronic noise lessen and go higher when twisted with earth [less noise] twist all [more noise]. Dont want to sound big headed, cheers
soaks up the initial voltage spike when you first plug your battery in so nothing blows up. And during flight it soaks up voltage and cleans up electrical noise.
@@jortega61924 you can put the xt60 wherever you want, out the front, side or the back. It just fit well in the front and won’t get chopped by the props. I don’t think you could mount the camera in the back. It’s just 2 standoffs back there no camera plates. 🤷♂️
I would really love to know what caused that glitch... Random things like that don’t do much for my confidence (in terms of safety) when flying. I don’t know that I would want to trust it in an area where a crash could be costly to you or someone else.
@@mlentsch Isn't it really unusual for a quad to auto-recover from a de-sync? The normal fix seems to be a quick disarm/arm (if you have the altitude to pull it off!). Do quads recover from desyncs? @@MrTyron for freestyle definitely 5”. But typical flight time for freestyle is 3-5 minutes. Sounds like not much time but just buy a couple battery’s and you’ll have plenty of flight time.

can you reccomend some buget goggles for this build LOVE THE BUILD SM

Hi, Do you know if the GPS unit needs to be in a certain direction? I have been told that the cable needs to be at the rear of the unit.
HI
I have ordered the same parts as you but accidentally ordered a different receiver.
How do you get the live feed on the goggles do you need to connect the air unit with the goggles using any app?
Not sure I understand you question. Are you asking how I recorded the goggle video?
You buy a video transmitter that works with your goggles, same with analog, with digital you bind your "whatever brand" goggles to your" whatever brand" video transmitter
Hi,
Could you please share links for the props you have ordered as well as their caps and the smoke stopper.
I wanted to know if you have used a 4s or a 6s battery
Also i have built the same type of drone and goggles and wanted to know if i needed any antennas for the goggles and if the motors you have suggested are the best or are there is a better option

So my Fc came with the same cable you go to connect the FC and esc, But one end was not connected. Can i use any 8 pin esc to FC cable?
Yes you can since the pin out is the same. You can use any fc to esc cable as long as the plugs work. The only time you would have to worry about it is if you bought the fc and esc separately then you would have to re pin the plug most likely.
@@andrewmedia3568 I saw on another comment that these motors are not capable Of 6s, (This is my first build) I have a 6s but when i plug it in the capacitor heats up and glows and motors are jumpy and not acting right. Would this be cause by the 6s battery? I should swap to a 4s?

Thanks!
btw, the instructions that comes with the frame incorrectly indicates the front and rear arms
short ones are indicated as rear ones, and long ones as front ones, but the frame can`t be assembled that way
Yes I noticed that as well, figured the longer arms always go in the rear and the holes only lined up with long arms in the rear. 🤷♂

No problem 🤘
p.s. The Barometer gives you your height above sea level. When you arm, it "Tares" itself to zero out.
Ok that explains the changes. Did not even think about that thanks!
good to know, didn't know why it did that but I did notice that it corrects itself when you arm. Coming from the DJI Avata I think it can make you think something is very wrong. Had an issue with my Avata and had to run a calibration to fix it so it was scary to see a similar issue on a built quad.
what controller and goggles did u use with this build?
Radio master boxer (ELRS version) and the fatshark dominator hd.

Cant you just plug the walksnail vtx into the dji socket?I thought they are compatible.
the plug is slightly different. DJI plug is 6 pin plug and the walksnail is only 4. You could get a 6 pin and 4 pin and solder them together which I've done. But its easier to just solder the wires on the FC.

does it fit the moonlight kit with no tweaks?
@@rough274 it should fit the moonlight no problem.
Great build video! Did you use a preset tune? If so, which one?
Yes I use the Supafly 5" freestyle Preset for just the PIDS and I set all the rest up for my liking.
Should do another video of a tune and your thalts after a few months of use
Yeah I’ll give an update soon. I’ve got a lot of videos to make now that the weather is starting to get better.

Lovely video. Which frame are you using?
Thanks! The Frame is the Speedybee Master 5 V2. Parts list and price in description.
What should in betaflight since you had the esc and fc 180 backwards?
Esc doesn’t matter directionally as much. The FC is 180 out, easy to change and confirm using the configuration tab and setup tab that shows the quad in real time moving while plugged in. And the motor tab just go through with the motor orientation and rotation wizard to tell BF which motor is where and what direction it is supposed to spin.
How do you take back control of the drone after GPS-rescue?
I just flip the switch off. I think if you have an actual failsafe once you get
re link you have to move the sticks at least 30% to get control back, but with just using gps rescue on a switch you don’t. Make sure BF is set to sanity checks : failsafe only.
How come I don't see anybody using the holes that are specifically designed for the capacitor? Is there a reason behind it?
Laziness I guess. I just dont care to use those. Its easier for me to just put the xt60 leads on then solder the capacitor after. 🤷♂
I agree 100% plus the fact that you can get a better solder joint on the pad when tinning if you cover the holes. I like the way you installed the cap. that's how I'm doing it from here on. Thanks for a good build vid.@@andrewmedia3568

Yeah sorry the Build videos already take so long to make and edit. And I wasn't sure people would watch that portion or it would be too long of a video. Joshua Bardwell has tons of videos on beta flight and quad setups. Maybe ill do a beta flight set up on my next build video.
Joshua Bardwell is the man for that video. Give him a look.
Is it ok to shrink wrap the wires instead of twisting them?
Definitely heat shrink would work well. 👍
Great video and sorry if I missed it, what props are you running?
Thanks! The props are HQ j37 5” props.
what's the capacitor used for ?
soaks up the initial voltage spike when you first plug your battery in so nothing blows up. And during flight it soaks up voltage and cleans up electrical noise.

If you fly slow and cruise, 5-7 minutes. If you fly hard freestyle 3-5 minutes. And it depends on the size of the battery. Could be longer or shorter depending on mAh.

@37:50 what happened here? Power loss? Bird attack?
Bad hardware. ESC was faulty. I swapped it out and haven't had an issue since.
Apakah ini digital atau analog kawan
Its digital. Using the Walksnail system.
What is flight time

Why would you ever run 4s on 5” in 2024? Obviously no clue what’s going on today

@@jasontreat2570 fr i run 4s on my custom 5'' still
Put the model in the title….
Next time you should read the manual and look at the pictures. You screwed up the capacitor install (it's way to far back covering the buzzer hole, and making the leads way to long, you didn't use the holes in the FC that are there specifically for the cap leads.) You didn't use the included wire cover tubes for the arms which is far cleaner than this crap. Didn't bother watching the rest at that point!
🤣 🤣 Sowwy I didnt follow the rules. Bahahaha. Yeah people should go watch your video... but you don't have any. I can tell from your comment you either don't have any quads or if you do they are all pre built bind and flys.
Yap yap yapping gums. Geez

@@andrewmedia3568 Thanks
what controller and goggles are you using?
Controller is the Radiomaster Boxer and goggles are the fatshark dominator HD.
@@andrewmedia3568 Great video! What is the difference between the fatshark dominator HD and the avatar goggles X? Are the fatshark dominator HD just an older version?
@@arthurgarzon200 yes the dominator HD is the version 1 goggles. Both have 1080p display. And from what I’ve seen the goggles x has some issues. My v1 have been perfect so far. And they are much cheaper. They still work with all the newest a avatar vtx.
@@andrewmedia3568 can i use the rm tx16s?
@@qevility310 yes as long as the radio protocol matches your drones receiver. So crossfire with crossfire or elrs with elrs receiver.
