    **Update** Hi everyone!! The size yarn balls for the blanket I used is the 150g size of the solids. At the time this video was made, there weren't as many Bernat Blanket options as there are now! It even comes in cakes! So stick with the 150g size yarn ball and you'll be good to go!

      Fiber Flux I bought 9 balls of Bernat Blanket 300 g 10.5 oz and my blanket still measures smaller than the measurement and yarn you are using?? What did I do wrong?

      @@lindasanteford6102 that's odd, do you think that your yarn might be thinner than hers for some reason? I find that over time yarn makers sometimes do these kinds of things. I don't know if they're trying to save money & hope to fool us into believing that it's exactly the same yarn as before when it's actually not.

    So I got a bit overzealous with this and instead of a starting chain of 90 I did 216! Just finishing my blanket, weaving the ends. This thing is massive. My arms were getting sore near the end by having to lift this thing to turn my work. LOL Can't wait to see the look on my grandmother's face when she opens this tonight at our family's Christmas Eve get-together!

    Thank you Jennifer! You are a wonderful teacher. As a little girl, I use to make miles and miles of chain stitches and that was it! My Mother tried to teach me, but I was just not gifted. Now that I am RETIRED, I have been craving projects to do. I started watching you on UA-cam and voila! I just finished my first Comfort Shawl...thanks to you.
    I think I'll try your Family Room Throw next. Christmas is just around the corner :-)
    Whenever I get stuck or confused, I just look up your videos to learn the stitch; you keep me grounded in my project.

    Jennifer , this blanket is amazing, I've started mine and I'm using the same colors as you , it's a great color combination. This tutorial was very easy to follow , love it ! And to the person having trouble with this tutorial, pause the video as you go along , this is a very , very easy tutorial, everyone crochets at different paces , if you don't like the way Jennifer teaches or feel she goes too fast , there are many other tutorials that you can find that are more suited for you . I think this tutorial is very well done

    I used this pattern for a baby blanket using Deborah Norville Everyday yarn in lemon, wild blue, electric green and bright violet (in that order, with a starting chain of about 124). I wanted bright colors for the baby and these four colors are perfect. The yarn is unbelievably soft, making it perfect for a baby blanket, and it's anti-pilling. It's fabulous to crochet.
    I wanted to use a lighter weight yarn because my friend lives in California, and I wanted a pattern with an open stitch so it breathes. I used a border which uses multiple yarns from another pattern. The end result isn't too feminine since its for a boy, but the final round of the border adds just a little feminine touch.
    The final result is just over 36" x 36" and it has an almost lacy look to it.
    I love this pattern because it's very versatile!

I've been crocheting a super soft marshmallow blanket for my granddaughters 10 birthday coming in the first week in July.... using same yarn and same stitching pattern, but used her favorite colors purple and a cream with some of the mixed balls with same colors to do tassels on the end. I'm going to put Her Name across the corner in a pink color with a couple of different size hearts.... and in Smaller letters on bottom opposite corner I'm putting NaNa 💜 U... I'll post pic when it's done. Thanks for all your wonderful Tutorials, they couldn't be made from the sweetest Gal 💖 🌼 💜 💖 🌼 Sending Lots of Love🌼

As I am a beginner, I like knowing I'm not missing any important steps along the way! Also, it feels like I have a mentor working alongside me the whole way! :) (not that I mind the FFWDs any of the times), just some projects move along fast enough even in real-time.

    I would like to say thank you so much for taking the time to make this video and teach others how to make this pattern throw blanket! I am just starting to crochet and have watched so many videos on how to make this patterned blanket with no luck at all. Many failed attempts. By watching your tutorial, I am now able to make this blanket!! Your testing technique is wonderful and easy to follow. So thank you again! One tip would be to edit the video on parts that are repetitive. Such as showing maybe the first 10 double stitches then cutting right to the end of the row. I found myself getting really anxious to see the next step. Perhaps a bit unnecessary to show every single stitch in each row. But that's just me. Sorry if I offended in any way. Great job again and I will definitely be checking out your other videos. 😊 I can finally crochet thanks to you!!!

    Love your patterns! I was going to make the snow berries throw first because your color choices are exactly what I need for my bedroom. But alas the store was all out if them. so these colors work my living room although I chose a different blue. I know I can use different colors. I don't usually like making a long chain. if at all possible i made a foundation dc row etc. But as you know it can't be done with this pattern. Just about done with the Merry Little Throw. All hexagons made with 3 left to attach. Then edging and then finished. I stumbled upon it right before Christmas.
    Loved making it!

      I bought large balls of Bernat Blanket and could not find a dye lot anywhere. Then when I got it home it had a # that included the year and some other numbers and they all didn't match. But since the balls/skeins have 220 yards each I think I will be safe!
      Here's to making a chain of 90!!!😄

      Hi Jennifer. Here I am again 7 years later. I’ve madec3 of these blankets and I’m making a fourth for one of my grandchildren. With each blanket I have made I’ve had to chain 91 to make it turn out correctly. I’m just wondering if you’ve heard this from anyone else. Either way I will be starting it but I am curious. These are heirlooms for my family and we love them. If you don’t see this then I’ll post it on a more recent video or send you an email if you provide one. Many thanks. Thea❤

    To those who are having issues with curling edges or whose blankets aren't as big as hers (less than 65"): that may be because her v-stitches are NOT the traditional ones. The usual way to make them is to make each double crochet (dc) into ONE stitch. That's in the foundation chain ONLY. However, probably because this yarn is so bulky, she's making these v-stitches with the dc's in chains right next to each other. In this way, that base set of v-stitches and spaces for the rest of the blanket will be nice and loose for the bulky yarn and accommodate the large hook size. It's the beauty of this squishy and huggable blanket! All that lofty yarn allowed to expand to it's full potential! If you squeeze the stitches into a single chain, you're fitting that yarn into a too tight space. Give it room, my fellow hookers, give it room!!

    It’s interesting to see how relaxed your stitches are. I often make mine too tight (I’m just a beginner) and then have trouble locating the Vs.

    • @matildarei
      @matildarei 5 років тому

      It’s something that comes with time. When I began, I crocheted really tightly as well. Just keep practicing and your stitches will be more relaxed. 🙂

    Around me Bernat Blanket yarn is very expensive so if I get about $95 dollars I will be able to make this. I really hope I can buy some soon

    • @that_one_tp_fan7145

      +Marjorie Mancinelli I guess so because it is so big if you buy a brown, white and blue one day. That is smart, thanks.

    • @tnmtredhead
      @tnmtredhead 8 років тому +3

      joann.com has sales for $6.99 a skein and after joining their mailing list you get coupons, like my free shipping, so at $7 a skein x 9 = $63

    • @tnmtredhead
      @tnmtredhead 8 років тому +6

      also, Michaels has a 50% coupon in the paper ever week or on web site so at $9.99 x.50% = $5 you can buy 1 aweek or get several people to save coupons and make several trips

      Also, I wanted to add here that you can use other super bulky yarn as an alternative. Happy crocheting!

    Hey I realized whenever I chain a multiple of 3 , at the end of the row, once I’ve done the last v, there is an extra chain. Now if I crochet into the last chain I am messing up the skip a chain concept so I went ahead and drew out the pattern. I’ve come to the conclusion that you need to chain a multiple of 3 and then add 4 chains to the end. So My blanket is 124 chains: 120 is a multiple of 3 and then add 4 chains.
    You’ll realize that once you do your last v you can skip one chain and then work a double crochet in the very last chain. Hopefully this helps! 🖤

    I love all your tutorials. Thank you for sharing your work and patterns with us. I'm making this afghan for my son using different colors from the Bernat Blanket yarn. Would you recommend I do a border? I can't decide if it would take away from the pattern. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks again.

    Can I just use the variegated color yarn?? I mean would it look ok?? I got the teal and taupe variables in the big ball bernat blanket yarn.

    I had trouble seeing just where the v stitch went on the second row.

  • @bamcalif_kayetriot

    Im trying to make this blanket and you do a great job teaching you explain everything very well. But for some reason row two never ends like yours I have started over six times and I make sure it comes out exactly like yours until row two. At the end I always end up with one less v then you so im not sure if can can just make a v in that chain three hole or do I just double crochet like you do? I know this is an old video but I hope you can help I don’t want to start over again.

    Hi jennifer love the colors and pattern I'm making one for my nephew not in these colors. my question. is 2 rows measures 3" so 4 rows would be 6" and there are 14 rows of the stripes so 6 x 14 =84 so how in the instructions on video and written measurements are. 65 wide and 70 long.
