Thank you for teaching me how to make a blanket crocheting it! I’m learning how to make it now with your video! I couldn’t figure out how to make it with anyone else’s video to crochet a blanket and your video is easier for me cause I have a disability and the video is slow and easy for me to understand. I’ll take a photo when I’m done my blanket! I’m just making mine longer with extra rows so it’s longer for my mom to use! I’ll take photos when I’m done to show it to you! 🧶
Very easy to pattern to follow. I'm new to crochet and I've just learned the basic stitches. Other videos had double crochet stitches in their pattern, it was very hard to do. This single crochet stitch is a lot easier.❤

This has helped me so much. I have tried for a year and kept undoing my work not satisfied and putting the yarn in the corner til trying again.. and this is the best video really helped and i feel confident in the work I am doing now on this blanket thank you
Hey so for anyone having curling or mix up Yeah I am too! Just so you know not all videos are easy to understand, I am sure this is a lovely person trying to help, but I got confused as well! Give them some likes and love before moving on though!
@@keyanichapman4533 yeah I finally figured out mine, bad thing is I forgot where I messed up really! What I know is restart and go through both little V shaped things!
For this blanket, you are using 16 skeins of Bernat Velvet Yarn. How many yards per skein? I am using Bernat Baby Blanket Yarn -100g -6 Super Bulky - 72 Yards. Would I use the same amount of skeins? I'm fairly new to crochet and know the basic stitches. Your instruction video is perfect. Very easy to follow. Thank you.
Perfect video for a beginner! I love this color to . I wonder how would one hook the colors together when doing a striped blanket ? The middle part seems easy if I’m imagining how to do it right lol but starting the different color at the ends ….. how do we do that and make sure the blanket edges stay nice and straight ? Going to search to see if you have a tutorial already on how to make a striped blanket to but I’m definitely saving this video for my first blanket to try ( other than one I finger knitted) . I love to crochet but I have to start really simple …. I keep messing up on the more complicated patterns . I either can’t find the loop to thread my next stitch through or my stitches are too tight or too loose . This might be the perfect pattern to help me practice getting the tension right .
Fantastic video, it's great as I'm a beginner too. I'm managing to do the first 125 loops fine but then struggling to do the next step & don't know if I'm missing loops out again, I've started again 3 times & always getting the same problem 😔
I dont know if you are still working on the blanket but if you are i recommend watching videos on how to turn. Its pretty easy to do just a little finicky when you are first learning
@Neptune I did eventually thank you 😊, I'm doing a new blanket with same pattern for a family member at the moment, once I got used to it, it was really easy. I'd literally missed one of the loops out which made it look comple different
Question, why use a larger hook than the yarn calls for? I want to get this exact same type of yarn and it calls for a 6.5mm. Which hook should I get? A 6.5 or a 9
I’m a beginner and am trying to follow along. If you start with 125 chains then skip your first stitch to have 124 then the third row you continue to skip your first stitch then you’d have 123 and so on. So you’d essentially be making a triangle. Am I missing something? How does it stay even?
Thank you for this! I am brand new and was trying a blanket with this yarn that alternates single and treble crochet. I was having such a hard time! I’m going to try this one. I only have a 10 hook. Should this be ok? I know the stitches will be a little looser but I tend to use a lot of tension anyway.
What other yarn can I use for this blanket? Bernat is hard to find in the UK and when you do it's very expensive, £20+ for one skein/ball making it cost £300+ to make this. Could I use Super Chunky? This will be my first time trying to crochet.
i’m having a problem. i’m new at this i’ve noticed how obvious your “V’s” are on TOP of your rows. mine are less obvious and kind of on the side. what am i doing wrong?! 😫
I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong! The position that you hold the chains you make can sometimes turn, or it’s the tension fluctuating, and it takes a WHOLE lot of practice to get a clear v, but I promise you’ll get there!
Hi Alyssa. First of all - Polyester Yarn in this volume is a #¤!&=(! to work with! The only really solution is to make sure your stitchnumbers are the same and tension as well. That helps a little, but a large blanket with an "Open" stitch will be uneven no matter what. You couls add a border/edge to see if that might help it. Have fun... 😉 /Vibeke
How many rolls of yarn do i need for a baby blanket? I bought 3 of the bernat pink frosting thinking that was enough but i read the description of the video and it said 16, is that true?
That velvet yarn looks thicker than bernat velvet. Is it a different brand? Looking to find something similar to what you are actually using. Thank you!
She is using Bernat Blanket Yarn which is a chenille yarn, it is thicker, and not Bernat Velvet which is velvet yarn and not as thick. I make my blankets in Bernat Blanket and use a 10mm hook all the time.
My blanket is shrinking as I go along, is this because I am missing stitches when I turn it? I feel like I am following all the instructions but it keeps coming out uneven
I'm confused - In the second row you're only going in one side of the chain then the third row you go through the whole chain? What do you do for the 4th row?? Back to only going through one side of the chain?
Please, help I am new. What is the purpose of skipping the first chain in your first row? Why? I watched other videos that do the same skipping of the first foundation chain I am trying to make a bigger blanket with the same yarn you have and a single crochet stitch. Have noticed that after 4 rows it is starting to look curved. What I am doing wrong?
Idk if you found it out or not but the purpose is to make the row "stand". So if ur chain's length is 20 and the stitch u will make is single crochet. You create 21 chain instead and skip first chain to make it 20. That'll serve as the height of single crochet. Other examples: 20 chains then add 1 for sc and half double crochet (21 ch) 20 chains then add 2 for double crochet and triple crochet (22 ch) That is why at end of row we either chain 1 or chain 2. You have to stitch 1 through the first loop and then stitch again going through the first and second loop all the way back
You can increase to fix that

I am brand new to trying crochet. What is a skein and how does that translate to packages of yarn ?
I’m a beginner and am trying to follow along. If you start with 125 chains then skip your first stitch to have 124 then the third row you continue to skip your first stitch then you’d have 123 and so on. So you’d essentially be making a triangle. Am I missing something? How does it stay even?
At the end of every row you always have a turning chain, or one or more chains, depending on the pattern.
The one stitch she said to miss is the chain 1. SC all across will give you 124 SC
it stays at 124 after the first row correct?????
Does it matter how many links you do in your chain or if there is an even or uneven number?
How big will the blanket be using 125 chains?
What size blanket will this make? Full, Queen?
I'm on my 2nd row tyyyyyyyy

I got so confused that i stopped for now, and I'll try again later
After you chain one and turn do you always skip a stitch for each row?
Hello! How many skins of yarn did you used to do this blanket? And how yards have each skin? Thank you!

How did you connect the new yarn to a new roll?
Very nice

What’s the difference between Bernat blanket and Bernat baby blanket. As far as I know they are both #6

How do we end the blanket and how do we add in more yarn when we run low?
To add more yarn all you do is tie a knot at the end of the yarn, cut the extra and keep going

To end the blanket, you pull the hook through the loop and weave in the end 😊
