I love this stitch. The first time I saw this stitch was on Tiffany Hansen's channel. However, I've done this stitch so much that I've changed it some and so it looks different to me. When I do this stitch it appears as though it is a small square repeated over and over all the way across and back again for each row. Everyone I show it too loves it too. And you are so right about it being a fun and quick stitch. I'm doing it different but very similar and it is quick and fast and works up great. Now that I see how you are doing it I'm going to try your stitch and see how it turns out. Thank you so much for showing me how it is really suppose to be done so I can do another type of the same stitch and see how it looks in a full blanket too. I love that I found your channel today and your channel title is really fantastic. I will add you to my list of crochet channels I can learn from. Happy New Year. ❤❤
Hi Alex so happy you are joining us here! - this stitch when worked tighter does look like little squares :). It is amazing how the look can change with the yarn and hook size :). Welcome and be sure to say 'hi' again :)
Love, love, love this pattern!! Thank you so much for the wonderful instructions. I love how you explain in detail for the new crocheters and give timestamps for the more experienced crocheters. I'm currently making a blanket for a friend using Karen big cakes, and I love how soft it is turning out!! Thank you so much!! 💕
You are so welcome! Thanks for the feedback too on the timestamps! I'm trying to do more videos like that. I was looking at that yarn the other day - I'm sure your blanket is going to be stunning!
Thank you for sharing. Great tutorial. If you want better stitch definition with a velvet or Bernat blanket yarn use a colored yarn that isn't too dark. Some variegated yarns make stitches pop. Light yarns almost always hide stitches unless it's lacey.
This was an excellent video. Nice and clear and precise. I’m a moderate crocheter and I still have trouble deciphering which stitch I should be putting my hook into. Thank you. I’ll be subscribing to your channel.
I am thrilled to find you! You provide a direct, authentic, patient approach and I feel encouraged! I have not crocheted in at least 10 years and have let arthritis hold me back. With a large needle and larger, soft yarn, I am ready! I want something not heavy or scratchy, really prefer cotton/bamboo. Living in SW Louisiana seldom requires anything heavy! Basically a light throw. I am 4’11 & 160 lbs so 50x60 is great. Which yarn do you recommend?
That is wonderful I am so glad you found me too! Rest your hands as needed I know how painful arthritis can be there are also stretching exercises you can do for your hands which really help as well. I used the yarn recommended in the video and it is very light infact one of lightest i have found in this weight. I would go with that one. Good luck and welcome!
Wonderful tutorial. I am almost finished with mine. It's my first blanket ever. I did two colors and was wondering, instead of the tassels, if you could recommend a stitch to go around the border?
I actually think just a single round of single crochet would look quite nice on this blanket or maybe a pico stitch, edging something simple. I’m so happy you enjoyed the tutorial.
All you need to do is tie them on. Then what i do is take the end of the yarn from knot and use a yarn needle to pull it through the end of the tassel. I appreciate you asking and will be sure to include that in future videos. Let me know how you make out :)
Love this pattern will definitely give it try. Also have had the same issues with pet hair getting crocheted into ones work, couple of years ago i was working on a lengthy project and needed to check size and combinations of squares on my bed,as soon as I set everything up low and behold my cat would always plonk himself on the blanket and try to play with the yarn, use to get somewhat annoyed with him,but sadly I know longer have my best friend so every stray cat hair is somewhat poignant!!
Awww I know the feeling - we lost our cat this year and when we brought out the tree skirt it had hair on it her favourite place :(. Sending you hugs for your sad loss.
Great tutorial! Very easy to follow and I love the stitch pattern. Currently working on mine with 3 colors using Bernat Blanket yarn. I wanted to ask, did you do the tassels just on one end of the blanket?
Hi Dawn :). I did do them at both ends. But there have been times I have only done one end just because I run out of yarn. So glad you enjoyed the tutorial!
@@prettydarnadorable thanks for getting back to me and letting me know. Much appreciated! Lol.... I know what you mean about running out of yarn 🙂. Thanks again!
Hi, I made the blanket with the original yarn, actually same color as yours. Love it so much, looks fabulous and crochet up very fast...But I came upon a problem when making the tassels....this yarn kept fraying tassels that is when I cut them.did you have this issue? What are your suggestions....thank you very much Pam
Hi Pam someone else wrote me about this too - I took mine off because my dog kept pulling at them. You could use a product like fray check to stop them from fraying other than that - I'm not sure I"m sorry :(

@@prettydarnadorable I was thinking of using the Lion brand Vel-Luxe I’ve used it before and it crochets beautifully but I’m not sure if it’s the right thickness
@@prettydarnadorable okay so I’ve started this blanket in a chenille yarn I found that’s similar. However I have a problem with the ends going a bit wonky. Because there’s 2 stitches into the last single crochet from the previous row this leaves a bump. When I do the next row and the last sc and dc it leaves that extra stitch which makes the row stick out. And because you haven’t crocheted enough rows I can’t see where it’s going wrong on the ends. Usually a pattern will finish off the last stitch with either a dc or sc and that always gives straight ends
