Something tells me this was one of the shows that solidified Cedric's idea to take the vocal approach that we are hearing live these days and on the songs off Noctourniquet. Lower notes, still with just as much passion. And these days Cedric sounds 20 times better than this video and most other shows from the Octa era. A little less push and Cedric sounds better than what he has most of the last decade.
I have to disagree. I don't think it ruins your reputation. If you need perfection everytime then you're missing out. Musicians are just regular people who also get sick. When I go to a show, I don't sit there and criticize. Music is about expression and the experience, not about hitting everything perfectly.
I love how they have that massive stage and lights available but they keep it nice and close and intimate. Brilliant band, with Brilliant drummers, all of which i aspire to be as good as in every way!
Hes not simplifying the songs you guys... he just hits so hard that his accents completely drown out his ghost notes... This guy is a phenom, TRUST me!!! ... Like you could do any better...
Dave Elitch is my second favourite drummer in TMV after Jon Theodore. The problem with Thomas Pridgen was that he overplayed so much sometimes that the band lost the time and one can see Omar shake his head and was not happy.
I KNOW this is a mad old comment but this video is still up and still amazing. I want to point out though, he's not hitting any harder than Jon Theodore. Jon Theodore hit more notes. Where Elitch hits 1/4's & 8th's, Theodore hit 16th's. Eriatarka chorus is a perfect example of the hihat not even being used where Theodore always hit 16th's. It's different but you didn't catch Theodore syncopating reggae grooves in jams very often either. 2 amazing drummers
i jus can't take my eyes nor hearing & inner feelings off this (rock 'n soul, funk 'n metal, fusion 'n industrialist) band man! these musicians is whats happening! thx so much "temperiniii" for load'n this incredible music concert, cheers!
I remember seeing the Volta with John Theodore on the Frances the Mute tour. Among other greats they played the whole second half of that album as well as the song "Frances the Mute". In a small theatre...front row...on pills :)
Eu estava nesse show.
I agree %100. I don't go to shows to hear the record. With a creative project like this, it is all about passion. Singing/playing in key comes secondary and rightly so.
I Hope this section makes it another song on Noctourniquet. I remember what later came out on Cygnus... in the middle of the track; was just a jam they were doing during Comatorium tour days.
It took me 13 years to appreciate Cotopaxi, now I get to enjoy this show entirely
34:45 Omar "How Do I Play Guitar" Rodriguez-Lopez, everybody.
great playing style if you ask me
I guess he didn't need to, as you've just barged in like you own the place and just provided your opinion unsolicited.
@@alexsetterington3142 settle down, ok? is only joke
love how its an hour long video and only 6 songs, oh Mars Volta you never cease to amaze
Trust me, anyone who can play Cicatriz ESP on drums like that is a badass drummer.
I confess that I would like to see Dave playing Wax Simulacra.
2:29 Cotopaxi
5:47 Broken English
16:50 Goliath
26:16 Eriatarka
38:37 Cicatriz ESP
54:15 Roulette Dares
Man I wish Elitch would have done an album with them!
I Could Play This A Hundred Times, And Still Some More. Thanks Omar And Cedric !!!!!!!
This is the craziest I've seen Jaun get. He's usually calmly playing his bass while everyone else is going crazy
Something tells me this was one of the shows that solidified Cedric's idea to take the vocal approach that we are hearing live these days and on the songs off Noctourniquet. love this drummers style but thomas pridgens time signature control...WAS INSANE
he is insane
All the drummers to play for volta are amazing. And to think that Omar writes all the music! Legendary!
I guess Cedric was a bit sick, but he went out on stage like a real rocker to sing all his songs, tearing his throat for a thousands of fans
not to mention he does nail it (only a couple of "fails")
I fucking love this band lol

Je suis tout à fait d'accord
heading to 2020. still there.
17:02 - Let's go round agaiiiin!
Haha, was looking for this.
it hurts my throat to watch cedric sing cotopaxi here.
What about Goliath? He sucks so much on that song.
as if you are any better lol XD
@@charleslarson5983 I'm not at all saying he's bad man, just knowing he was sick and had to sing all of those high notes looks painful!
Eriatarka sounds awesome!!! Great vocals from Cedric.

@@Heimarn hahaha comedy! Don’t see Thomas in action in TMV😂😂😂

Me encanta, un concierto de 6 canciones. Maestros!!!

Bass sounding so crisp in here. Amazing.
Thanks for the heads up dude!
they sound great
Minőségi Sátánista csimm-bumm zene. Kurva nagy. Gratula!
Thank you a lot for posting it! ****
Los mire en tulsa oklahoma!!! Imprecionante
Awesome!!!!! thanks ..thanks!!!! for the upload
best band ever, thanks for the upload. VIVA MARS VOLTA
Yup...saw him with TMV in LA and he was unreal!
man this show was sooo great! best concert in brazil for ages to come
Cedric performed this while he had the FLU, most of you can't do this healthy >,
thanks Cedric for your awesome vocals.........yup
Amazing drummer! Great band!

At this point life is simple. If you want to grow as a drummer, just make The Mars Volta covers.
And if want to grow as a guitarist, and bass player, go to* learn and play TMV just a lot!
That whole rhythm section is amazing!
what if my chops/rudiments suck!?!?!?! also, how do i get to carnegie hall?!?!?!
any instrument tbf
He is NOT an awful singer. He sounded bad at this performance but I have seen them 5 times and he killed it each time.
Thought he sounded great
I have been jamming to these guys since their first LP.Also a fan of At The Drive In,band lead singer sang in before Mars Volta,
so mars volta is an extreme time signature band! no wonder thomas receives so much recognition!
Excellent!
What the hell are u talking about? Roulette Dares was fucking perfect
O melhor show de todos
Por favor The Mars "Volta"🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
E vão voltar pro BR mesmo
I cant wait to see them live again, the adrenaline!
THIS DRUMMER IS BLAZING! as with the bass player as well!!
Oh god it is unbelievable. One love!
i love the keys... good work...
Love the Broken English cover every time they play it.
i was there, high as hell, and it was beautiful
That I can respect 100% Great way to communicate their artistry!
holy shit. 1:01:53 scared the hell outta me. SUDDEN VOLUME INCREASE WARNING
+geedriz For real. I was nodding off to sleep and then almost had a fucking heart attack
I died.

Amazing
@all critics
you guys try singing his stuff. he s still great!
The best band of the 21st century!!!!!
hell yeah. thanks for pointing that out. i was skipping most of the concert
the way they loop everything and then leave the stage is epic.
hes an amazing singer live and on albums
GREAT!
Esse show foi do caralho!
best rant i've seen yet!
Eriatarka sounds beautiful...

shrommming to this right now
HISTÓRICO.
i was there!
one the craziest shows i ever been.
so much win
Ten years later, this is nice, I used to hate it since Job Theodore left the band. But Dave is not bad!
Dave is the next best thing to Jon Theodore IMO.
I am glad you agree.
That GROOVE
And I absolutely respect that......
Eu estava nessa parada! Teve Rage Against the Machine depois! Sensacional! Saudades SWU!
eles são brotherzão um do outro

The singer reminds of that dude from The MC5. Kick out the jams motherfuckers!!

Narwuar the Human Serviette is definitely in my top 10 guitar players after seeing this.
legendario!
im so high right now the the volume i got is so loud my head hurts. poor neighbors. i lot the mars volta
thanks for posting!... (sidenote: not the full concert)
pura creación y energia
I really like this version of "Broken English" .......it has that GROOOoooOoOOOOoOOoOOooVe
don't worry. there is enough in their back catalog to inspire you for years to come.
not going to lie I was prepared for it and it still scared the shit out of me
I Hope this section makes it another song on Noctourniquet. I remember what later came out on Cygnus... in the middle of the track; was just a jam they were doing during Comatorium tour days.
hoje tem show caraiiiiii
THIS IS THE HAUNT OF ROULETTE DARES WA WA WA WA WA WA WA
i love thomas as a drummer.. probably number one... but i gotta say this guy is good too... like his style...
Who is this on drums?!
Dave Elitch I think

Tutta la vita Mars Volta
Demorou, mas a voz do Cedric esquentou, hahahaha!!! =D
never saw a similar comment, great opinion.
blablabla - alive was amazing!
