- We use the new Tillotson 212R on a Murray mini bike! After hearing a lot about the new Tillotson 212cc stock racing engine, we get to install it on one of our old mini bikes. With 13-14:1 compression ratio, around 12 horsepower, and a 5800RPM governor, this little engine rips, right out of the box!
Thanks for Watching!

Cool frame. Back in the 70s my dad and I shoved an old 125cc engine with gears into a small mini bike. Top speed was probably 30 with those small wheels but it would pop the front end up at 29. It could climb a tree, the engine was and old Hungarian engine called a White but looked like a two stroke Yamaha. We had to fabricate a rear sprocket from two bike sprockets and manually turn a lathe in reverse to make a left handed threat nut for the fly wheel I think. It had three gears one down and two up. The clutch was a wet cork style and yes we tore the engine completely apart and reassembled it. If it's still in one piece it's probably somewhere in southern California. Good time back then.
I would of put a 200 in it but that kinda slow for a mini bike but it was probably fun to ride
I love hearing "small block" for small engines its a unique way to explain the different engines
Even the chicken was laughing at him "Dimple" the exhaust!
I was thinking that too xD
That chicken said .. "B*tch!! .. hah da fk am I suppose ta cross tha dam road wit this slo azz minabaak raddin aroun herre!(?"
Lol
I bought one of these at a yard sale a few years ago for $200.00! Had a brand new predator 212 on it and someone had fabricated a diamond plate chain cover.
That front wheel would raise up!
"It's consistent, but that happens with slow things, doesn't it." Made my day. Love the channel guys, keep up the good work!
I have the same minibike !! It’s great , I switched out the stock engine as well , stripped down all the plastics and stickers and put on a set of mini ape hangers . I love it !
Would like to see it. Check out mine I just did a vid on it
tank treads,,
I have lot's of fond memories of this bike. My buddy had one just like it when we were kids. It seems like he got it around 99 or 2000. He gave that thing hell for many years.
I used to have one of those mini bikes when I was a kid. I'd love to find another one and do something like you guys did!!
Those tiltotson are awesome!! I got a regular 212cc tilotson with header, jets, and intake oh and governor removed and it ripps can imagine what the 212R would do with stage 1!!
love your guys channel been watching for like 3 years now. cant get enough.
love the show guys i watch everyday!! i love fabricating go-karts and building the motors!
That sounds absolutely GORGEOUS!!,
The sound of that engine is amazing!! It's a thumper!!
6:29 the bike does a decent baby Chewbacca impression. :D
GaragebandandBeyond 😂😂😂
It really does ! 😂😂😂
Bwaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!! 🤣😂🤣😂
Holy cow I can't believe it!
Need to dub this bike: chewbikey
I loved my Murray and still do. Swapped a predator 212 on it in 2013 road it for 3 years then got into trucks. Last time a cranked it the throttle stuck wide open and ripped a badass burnout. the huge sprocket on the back makes it a torque monster.
I would like to see your take on a stealth exhaust. Something really quiet, but still flows and performs well. I think this would be a good platform for that.
John already did, with the guy from Kartfab when they went down to Texas last time. ua-cam.com/video/46TS3O5UtSM/v-deo.html
@Ryan see and I'm into mud motors I like these engines but I use them on the water with my long tail kit I'm so I like them to be powerful and quieter I don't like to hear the engines screaming up and down my local river, and nobody else does either
Curious, why would you not bend the exhaust out slightly for clearance, instead of crushing the heck out of it to make a dent to fit?
I know this is an older video but i had this exact mini bike as a kid it was the best thing i ever had. Funny thing is i didnt remember what kind it was until this video. Bought it new at walmart for 350. Thanks for bringing back old memeories 👊
Pretty sweet that that 212 just bolted right on, same clutch, same chain. Great mod for that minibike
I remember when you guys bought this. Been waiting to see an episode on it
That's a cool minibike! another great day when Cars and Camera burnout minibike video drops :)
I'm playing the audio on my shop light with Bluetooth speakers and that 1st startup after the swap made my wall rumble. Lol awesome
I’m about to start a small engine repair class because of you guys I’ve already learned some from watching these videos thanks
I just got one of those frames with a Briggs 5hp on it. It’s a powerhouse!
I really like the styling of that little guy. It would be cool to make it street legal to run around with the Honda Trail 70's. Cheers Guys! Another great video. Zip~
This video is awesome! I can't wait to see how the golf cart turns out!
Your channel has the feel of "This Old House" but with mini bikes. Its great!
I like that frame
7:22 the chicken just started laughing at him 😂😂😂
Thanks to you guys this 50plus dude is enjoying go karts and yard toys again great fun. Have built 3 drift trikes and now I want to put a dam predator on everything. Lol keep up good stuff. From NC.
Lol
I own one of these. Everything on it is stock and she still runs really well. Just gave her an oil change just last week.
Nice
When he sneezed at 5:30 I said bless you 😂
Manufacturing date is 60th day of 2001
Yep, 01060 is a julian date (YYDDD; where the days are counted from 001 to 365)
This was my first bike/mini bike and I got mine brand new in 2002. So this date is spot on.
Usn. Thank you for your service
@@pronghorntractorwork 👍
@@dustinschings7042 what if it was 01366? 🤪
That was a great build! Loved the burn out at the end!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very cool thanks for the heads up on the this build 🤙
Ole bike sounds healthy! I bet that thing is a hoot to ride.
I smelled burning rubber there at the end, nice build!
I have a Murray and i like the styling of it as well as the ride. I have only seen one other one than mine so, yours makes three that I know of and they all have the 3 horse motors and the large rear sprocket. i am definitely going to get that new 12 horse power engines !
I'm glad you guys have a third person working the camera - it makes your videos story line flow a lot smoother
The KISS theory wins again! I'm glad you tried the old engine first.
Thanks guys ! Last video I requested a video about modifying the the murray. Honestly, I didnt think it be the very next upload lol Thanks dudes !
Was looking forward to golf cart part 3, but this will definitely do haha. Nice burnout!!
had a honda z-50 mini tralil years ago in my youth. those small bikes are so much fun!
😂 that’s crazy. When I was like 8 my dad bought me the same mini bike and after like 3 years we 212 swapped it.
Only thing it needs is a 20 shot of nitrous now!
Your very right about that
*200 shot of nitrous
Throw a slick tire and a wheelie bar!
Right
@@dadsfriendlyrobotcompany *ground rumbles* what was that?
Ike got NOS
Holy heck this is a badass build, guys!!
That's the coolest looking mini bike i've ever seen! That style should be still made and if it was it'd be really popular I think
Awesome guys...that fist clip was insane
You are trespassing on the roosters territory!😂 Watch out Ike!
That thing sounds like a beast keep up the great work
I had one of these they are fun I I replaced the motor with a predictor and it worked fantastic
If Murray stuck to the same system of date codes as the rest of their equipment then this minibike was built on the 60th day of 2001.
oh you beat me to it... i know nothing about Murray so i googled it and finally found the first number is the year, excited that i broke the code. came to the comments thinking someone has to know this offhand, and here you are! good job
@@philtripe Its all good bud, only reason I knew it was from trying to find out when my old murray was built.
stickloaf don’t worry, we still appreciate your time and honesty! Haha
THAT sounds like ALOT of compression! Must be beast on the trails!
You would have to use aviation fuel
Oh my God the chain fits, that's so incredible John OMG!!!!!
The track two is a awesome little mini bike, I have one I’m been fixing up. Just couldn’t make up my mind on what engine to use on it till now. Thanks guys! I’ll be ordering me one.
The ongoing Ike vs the Rooster rivalry is clearly still active, albeit quieter...
Chicken thought it was an axe .It was freaking out.
My god..yall weren't playing around!!😁 great vid.awesome engine.
Great mini bike. I'd move the engine forward, install a Comet TAV2 clutch and jack shaft. That would really help with the acceleration. Keep up the good work. Stay safe.
Bless You!
Thanks
...fire follows fuel - Too rich (fuel in exhaust) pops / flames out tail pipe. Too lean and it pops / flames out intake. I dig you guys. You are somehow fearless without being reckless. Keep innovating.
Thanks for sharing...
I love the design of the frame. Nice little bike.
I had one. I got it new in 2002 or 2003. They make great drag bike platform
Cant forget to make sure the back tire or tires are bald on every build can you?😁
When you realize those damn kids that race up and down the road by your house all the time are full grown adults lol 😂
Pissing off the neighbors for fun and profit...
Lol
Head, torque converter, better carb, and new tires. ✌️ Nice and tidy conversion of that stock 212 in a easy pull motor out of the box. 👍👍👍👍
That tilly souls like it has a good bit of compassion!
Cars and cameras videos are great they inspire me to do my own builds and projects. I will have a new video coming out most likely today.
Me too!! I will be making a new video on my channel soon to. I am fixing up a wrecked Hummer and making it an off-road monster again!!! The video is on my UA-cam Channel if you want to check it out.

u guys need a show on motortrend like roadkill but your version
Best line i’ve heard in quite some time! “That happens with slow with things........., doesn’t it!”
Maybe not this one but build one and go on a weekend camping adventure on mini bikes. And thumbs up to whoever is filming. Your filming/editing is only improving just like your builds. Great job.
I remember the Ike’s adventures when he got that bike
You all know we are waiting for Ike and the Rooster race
Omg my first mini bike. Loved that thing! Parents paid $500 brand new. Throw some bmx handlebars on it and it will make it much more comfortable to ride.
This kinda feels like if “Step Brothers” had a sequel UA-cam channel for how they get a long now. But I also love this channel thanks for the great content!
Man we need some CT70 vids!!!
Put a torque converter on it!
yep, thats what it needs most.
Cvt
@@TheBestOrion CVT is a torque converter.
@@Ritalie no, it's a continuously variable transmission. You can find a torque converter in a car/truck etc. transmission.
@@TheBestOrion torque converter is a brand of cvt for minibikes and go karts. Not to be confused with the torque converter of an automatic transmission.
Sweet little Ride... Looks good runs good Rusty
I own 4 murray track 2s. Best bike hands down. You should do the front suspension upgrade. You can use the forks off a razor electric dirt bike 500 or 650 model and they are a direct swap, no modifications.
You guys should check out grind hard plumbing co, they are building some awesome karts.
Love there builds
Grind Hard Plumbing Co. is the You Tube channel that Chuck Norris calls on when he's in a pinch.
I might check em out.
They're not just a GoPowerSports ad like these guys are becoming are they?
@@ssorcwerdna9473 Not yet, not yet... time will surely tell
There stuff is terrible.
My mom bought me that exact minibike brand new in 2003
You got a cool mom.
I had one of these bikes back in middle school. I forgot to lock it up one night and it was stolen that night. I miss it, it was a super fun bike
Needs a bully 2 disk racing clutch I love the sound of that engine great swap!!
Stock Tillotson 212R vs a stage 1 preiditor witch is faster
Matt Wright this!!
Dump for comparison.
Definitely the Tillotson. But if the governor is out of the Predator, the Predator would go harder once it got into the powerband
Stock tillotson 212r with centrifugal clutch vs stage 1 predator with a torque converter would be an interesting matchup
Clutch vs clutch with the predators governor removed
MFG. DATE: 01060 / YYDDD = March 1st 2001
Murray used a couple different ways of how the date of manufacture was list.
1970's tag format YDDD
1980 and early 1990 tag format DDDY
Late 1990 and Early 2000 tag format YYDDD
Early 2000 on MM/DD/YYYY
The example you give of how they did it in the 70s is known as the Julian date. Used to use Julian as a mechanic in the Marines when filling out paperwork to order parts for our equipment 20+ years ago.
Just checked mine. 01066. Mach 6, 2001...
total performance build on the bike!!!!!
Keep rockin boys!!! You guys are the shit!! Big time long time fan since day one. Roy from LINY!! 👋
You guys need to get good at wheelies
You guys should do a manco offroad go kart
They have
BUILD IT!!!!!!! Cam, carb, the whole Magilla!
Sounds like you can add heavier springs to the clutch to allow it into the power band before taking off.
Why can’t u finish one thing before you start something new?
Parts shipping, waiting for stuff, need of tools that aren't available at the moment
Plus, if u had something ready to go, and were waiting for parts for something else, which would you do first? The one that is ready to go, or the one that still needs stuff?
thebuilderguy agreed
Adding on to what the other guy was saying, I want to say that I always have a lot of projects going on because it keeps things fresh! Sometimes you get tired of one project, or stuck on something, or just don’t want to work on it! Having multiple projects has made me always have something different to do, based on how I was feeling some days! I also was able to figure out how to do things on projects I was stuck on because of other projects I was working on! It also is a personal preference of mine!
give it a proper tune and you will be surprised
Should make 12 HP / 75 MPH out of the box if that's what it's rated at...
@@BuzzLOLOL 75mph Lol'
That seat setup is cool!
This was the first mini bike I learned to ride on
Nos would be cool. They have those little cylinders that look like a co2 cartridge. Y'all should try one out!!!!
