Hello Red Beard. My name is Luke aka uniqueone. I was injured while serving in the U.S.M.C . I raced dirt karts as a kid from 8 to almost 17 . Back then it was the 5 hp flat with Alcohol carburetors. Many surgery later and a ton of rehab I’m ready to try doing some dirt racing again. I have a great bunch of friends on board to help. I started from scratch with a bare racing Cassie And I will be using the predator 212. I have learned a ton from your channel and was able to setup my first fuel pump system by making my own pulse with the overhead value and removing the governor gear. I was hoping that there might be a way that I could message you to ask a few questions for a little help so I would not be bothering the UA-cam messages and bugging everyone. Again thank you for time and your channel it’s a lot of fun to watch...

WOW, you guys are amazing. You swapped that engine on a mini-bike far better than Carsandcameras did today, you guys used an impact wrench and they just used hand wrenches. Truly inspiring!
You aren't being serious right? like using different tools makes one job better than the other. and I'm pretty sure they did use a dewalt impact lol.

I was thinking that the Tillitson R had the hemi head, maybe not. I think one would be money ahead with the predator converted because of the $150 initial cost savings but I just like to build these small engines. Keep up the good videos but you’ll be careful or you are going to get hurt bad.

hello im a big fan. question I have a chinees buggy that I put a predator 670 on it. I put a 40 series torque converter on it.Its not grabbing the way I expected. do I need a larger one or can I upgrade the converter springs?

It sounds like it's got a nice "Lope" to it. You throw a header with a DG pipe from Amazon and it would sound sweeeeeeeetttt please get a DG exhaust slip on for dirt bikes and test them on these. They sound great on all small engine like this

Just put intake and header on ours with the tct carb....took a few mins to dial in the carb but holy shitballs Batman she sounds mean!

What does it rev out to with out the governor
Add a small swingarm pike u did for trike minibike build. That will let u sit back a bit and smthen out the ride.
Im going to order one for my snow blower. Should be able to through 100 ft.

Amazing they got that power number with a stock appearing airbox and stock appearing muffler. So do we really need those expensive addons and open headers afterall??
its all in the head and cam if you want to make any real gains. the stock exhaust on most small engines is still poo poo though haha. it does help make them run better and cooler all around when they are opened up a little as long as the carb is tuned right though.
I bought a motovox mini bike. Took out the 2.5hp motor, re painted it and thinking im putting in a predator 212. Any suggestions on my first build/mini bike?!

You forgot to mention that this is a much higher compression engine than normal i think like 13 or 14:1 so race gas and a few tweaks would make a crazy race minibike motor.
I went to 212e I should have brought the 212r just for a few more dollars more

What’s a better engine outta this 212r & the Briggs Animal?
Id like to see the torque rating. In other words, would it be a replacement for a more expensive 420cc on an offroad kart? Would it even be worth taking the govenor off? I doubt it as it would probably only be good for a small difference. I do like the improved air filter and the plastic filter cover. The stock predator filters are garbage and continually get your carb dirty and im not a fan of the k&n styles with sock because when you're in dust and mud they just dont cut it. I was going to take a briggs style box and filter and mod it to fit my 212.
Come to think of it, I have a Manco 3 wheeler with a 212 on it so im pretty sure I am going to replace it with one of these. That solves 2 problems. The other being I wanted to run twin 212's on my kart. I do like the predators. I weigh 250lbs and I have a light kart with live axle, 48 tooth, torque converter and I can get low 40'smph stage 1 with no govenor plus plenty of low end. You can cheat a little with a tc, never be able to run a 48tooth with a clutch a rip uphill from a dead stop with a clutch. With twins should be interesting lol. Of course, like I said it's a light frame also.

I had the same problem on my BT200X with the clutch bolt.
The bolts holding the muffler guard on were falling out also.

So I'm guessing if one has the extra cash that one should buy the Tillotson 212R over a Predator 212. Is there a Tillotson 212 (without the R) that is more affordable and if so how does it compare to the Predator 212?

@@shushunliu6572 I honestly think it is close ungoverned. If you put it up against all the other out of the box 212s, pull all those governors and stick them straight on a dyno, no stage 1, AS it comes....the 212r will poop on the others at a certain point because of A)the cam B)the carb c)compression. The triple "c" is hard to beat....now really run them...only 2 engines will remain in contact but the blue caped avenger would hold on till that last rotation......it is a nice cast flywheel though....🤔

William Velasquez they have torque converter rated for this much hp so yes u can. But I the links don’t work anymore and every website I try for this engine all say out of stock :( been that way for months
I have a predator 212 hemi it has the aftermarket air filter kit and aftermarket exhaust a better spark plug and arc billet flywheel the governor is still hooked up it mounted on a doodlebug and my top speed was 47 mph
i have a stock predator 212cc with no air filter but the box is there and stock exaust and i hit 45

The puppets on these types of channels push whatever, whenever they are told. They dont want you finding the best bang for the buck. Get a ducar 212, aluminum flywheel rated to 10,000 rpm, adjustable carb jets, reinforced block, more torque...and its a hemi.

No them springs will handle Alot , this is a Tillotson Engine not a Predator Engine Lol

Any chance you wanna throw this on your dyno quick? Was told it made around 7.1hp out of the box or as much as 10. It's What I started with as a building block for a motor since the price was good and flat top piston the jt207 head etc. 24mm carb rod .010 head gasket, super x dyno cam, all the stuff to make it live it has now, honestly it's to much for my buddies dirt oval soon as you stand on it just lights the vision 1 legend chassis rear tires with 12 66 gearing like no ones in the kart lol.
What do you recommend, getting a 212 predator and working its way up or getting the Tillotson 212r and working it’s way up? What’s cheaper and more convenient for power ?
What I've found is a predator is $100, a performance air filter kit is $40, a header is $40, and a muffler is almost $80. That's $220 for about the same performance as what this engine is claiming. This engine goes on sale for $220. Also, with the predator you have to take it all apart before you can even use it.
But, I have not used a tillotson yet, so I am not sure how good they are.

@@dustinshort6207 u can get a filter for 28 from omb, and then build a header for $12 for pipe and u can run a big 1 1/8 in pipe. so for $140 you get the same performance. and this engine is 220 if u pick it up. if u want it shipped good luck last i checked it was 40 to ship to ny

I have two Tillotson engines from gopowersports and neither came with that linkage.
How much do you have invested in the engine with stage 1? That's how we will know if it's worth it price wise.
You can get a hemi head 212 for 100 with coupon at harbour freights and 80 for the better stage 1 kit. Add a upgraded idle jet for 4 bucks and a offset timing key for 6 or 8. Best combo I've found without tearing into the engine.
It needs all engine specs from the cam specs to how much lift at the valve, the stoke, and so on. Because of these predator classes most everything internally and externally has to be stock. I still dont see this engine ever being used in a race class maybe other states just not NC and SC
Another thing later on down the road in another year or 2 yes I could see tracks doing a tillotson 212 class and or letting guys run this engine as a predator. Still dont see it being a actual race engine. Just my 2 cents on this. Now for your average guy/girl I could see people buying it for a yard kart or mini bike.

You can't get this engine anymore, if you want my opinion go with the Tillotson 212E Hemi. That motor is powerful and very reliable from what I've heard and I've never heard anyting bad about it yet.
What oil do you run in these and anybody know where I can download a manual?
I run Amsoil 100% Synthetic Small Engine Oil 10w30 in my Tillotson Engines 💪
Any modern 10w30 is fine. They're not picky. It's a lawnmower engine, remember that.
Interesting. I found this engine on another site about three weeks ago, yet you provide a GPS link that is broken. I search for it and GPS says it might be available in several days. Why not link all available sources?
