This is one of those songs that leaves me speechless every time I hear it, and I felt that way even before Pentatonix covered it. Once they did, it was end game, man. There's nobody that can do it better than this. Loved your reaction to it because that was pretty much exactly what my reaction was the first time I heard their cover of it.
I need more Matt and Mitch harmonies! Definitely check out their cover of Imagine! They will blow you away. And Amazing Grace is so good as well. Kirstie will blow your mind in that ❤
Their getting together was written in the stars. This version of the song is the best ever! The only one that fits the mood of the lyrics for me. I loved this reaction. Thank you.
I appreciate your reactions to PTX. I am a solid Pentatholic. Have been since they performed on The Sing Off. My wife was able attend one of their concerts when she went to visit our daughter in DC. Only one of us was able to make the trip. I'm 65 now, and I think my chances of ever seeing them is as unatainable as me ever having my own Harley. I am becoming more accepting of reality the older I get. Considering I have severe ADHD (since childhood), I have lived a very good life, for which I wouldn't trade for anything. My family loves me, and I am eternally grateful. My life is full, including full of PTX. Keep up the good reactions!
I see you've reacted to some K-pop groups. Pentatonix has done a BTS cover, a mashup of Dynamite and Butter. And they have a collaboration with J-pop group Ateez, "A Little Space (Ateez remix)" and two collaborations with J-pop group Little Glee Monster, "Dear My Friend" and "Midnight in Tokyo (LGM Remix)". "A Little Space" and "Midnight in Tokyo" are Pentatonix original songs. FYI -- increasingly in the last few years Pentatonix has relaxed the a capella "rules" and do sometimes add instruments. They also work with experienced pop producers and vocal editors who use vocal effects and processing to make voices sound like synths and electronic percussion.
They do it amazingly every single time -- They helped keep my kids calm in the car!! The National Anthem -- I have no words. I had my 16 year old and 6 year old listen to it without and with headphones, and even they loved it. I love that you are loving them!! Keep that rag around, you'll need it for Amazing Grace.
I love your Pentatonix reactions - you so appreciate their vocals and their arrangements. You need to give credit for some of those to their arranger Ben Bram who is considered to be the '6th' member of Pentatonix. This is beautiful and a good example of the Pentatonix 'wall of sound'. It's very easy to forget there are no instruments - the sound is always so full. I would really recommend their version of the Prayer which was originally Celine Dion (Mitch sings that part!) and Andrea Boccelli where Scott sings in Italian! Mitch is insane on that one.
Thank you for the great reaction to this beautiful Pentatonix video. It's one of my favorite PTX videos. Happy that you enjoyed it. I look forward to more of your Pentatonix reactions. Matt has been their bass since October 2017.
If the people of this world would take lessons from this groups structure and how it WORKS, the world would shine as brightly! These guys seem to, instead of competing to be better than each other, they attentively seek out and find ways to ELEVATE the others voices! The group CAN'T LOSE. Imagine just for a moment, if one by one, WE, began doing the same for our brothers and sisters on 🌎...in place of judging, elevate one another. Two words comes to mind...Joyously Unstoppable.
One reason this sounds so compelling is because they "pulled the goalie" and went with five singing parts and no beatboxing. The more complex five-part harmony adds to the dark and haunting nature of the arrangement. They do about one in ten songs with way with five-part harmony.
Their first grammy was Daft Punk. It's a medley of EDM from the group of the same name and is some of the first stuff. You should also get the groups Home Free and Voiceplay on your radar as the 3 top a capella groups going at this time. They are all beyond talented but have their own twists to the genre. Enjoy the ride.
This upgrade was released in the dumpster fire covid year of 2020. Pretty appropriate.....One of the two perfect songs they put out that year. They released an original song called Thank You on their Christmas CD that year. It is an emotionally devastating song. I cried when ever I heard it the first month it came out. They also put out an acapella EP in 2020 called Home. They recorded it from their own homes and it was mixed by their mixer Ed Boyer. Their European tour got cancelled so they decided to make music. Their music kept me and many a Pentaholic sane that spring and summer.
This video is simple and stunning. The black background with the images of themselves walking away is a great visual. All of that, just makes the vocals stand out. This is another upgrade, to be sure.
Hey I'm the first! That never happens 🤣😂 Thanks for the PTX video! Yes, make a Playlist then I can just binge your PTX reactions whenever I've had a bad day 🙂😄💜💙
Loved your reaction!! Please make a playlist as I will be checking those reactions out!! Amazing Grace is one you really need to do next, along with all of the other requests. Thanks😸😍
Of you want to experience Scott's vocals and how amazing he is check out his original song that he just recently released called Mars. He wrote the song and produced the official video and it is so beautiful. But, just a couple of days ago he released an acoustic performance and then a a version with the a choir. The acoustic and choir version have additional lyrics and show case his raw vocals in a way that will melt your brain cells. Here is the link to the choir version. Each version is hauntingly beautiful, but the choir version best show cases what that man can really do with his vocal chords. It really is just soooo good! ua-cam.com/video/9CAF2Pg9Cgg/v-deo.html
Do you want to put an end to the Mitch slaps? Two songs you need to hear, the first is PTX's upgrade of The Prayer by Celine Dion, and Andrea Bouchalli, talk about harmonies, and beautiful music. It was a beautiful song originally, then Mitch made Celine look like an ametour, The other song is actually on Mitch & Scott's side channel, Superfruit. Let me start with the backstory. Scott loves Broadway Musicals, His favorite is a show called Wicked, it is the Wizard of Oz story told from the perspectives of Glenda the witch, and her sister Elphaba (Except Glenda the good witch in now a bad guy and Elphaba the evil witch is now the good guy), anyway, Scott's favorite song from the show is the last song it's called Defying Gravity. The song is about the witches learning to fly on a broom. Scott wanted to hear Mitch do the song, the music was written for a woman named Edina Menzil, who also did the music for the movie Frozen (and you know how high Let it Go is). So finally Mitch said he would do it for Scott's Birthday, but Scott had to do Glenda's part. So you see Scott wearing a blonde wig (that has been in at least 4 Superfruit video's, it looks bad on purpose), and Mitch is painted green sort of. If The Prayer doesn't stop the Mitch slaps, Defying Gravity will. Between those two songs you will learn just what Mitch is capable of, and just how good he is doing it. I did notice this past Christmas season, that Andrea Bouchilli and his wife and son, did a collab with PTX on Do You Hear What I Hear, so apparently he approved of what the did with the Prayer. Actually I noticed that a lot of the upgraded songs PTX has done over the years, the original artist has collabed with them on songs years later, so I will say no body disliked the upgrade PTX did. Not even Queen, since as soon as Brian May (lead guitarist) heard the PTX version he immediately sent it out on all his social media with just one word, Enjoy. Leonard Cohn said the PTX version was the best version he ever heard. That is some big approvals.
Can you make a playlist of them in the order that you listened to them? I don’t believe I have seen anyone do that yet. And YES to any and all Adam Lambert performances please❣️
I don't listen to this one very much because the sorrow and hopelessness in the lyrics really affects me. The way Pentatonix sings it just makes my heart hurt. Thanks for your great reaction. Your comments always help me appreciate the beauty in the music. You're becoming my new favourite reactor. Yes, I'm here for Adam Lambert, too. 💖
So glad you are enjoying PTX! Subbed for more. You really need to check out their cover of Gold by Kiiara, Mitch's solo cover of Your Power by Billie Eilish, Kevin's solo covers of Down and Sign of The Times, Scott's solo of his original Mars. Kirstie has solo work out as well. They are all so unbelievably talented!!!
I remember a while back they were a part of a talent show on tv & they won the competition. I can't remember the name of it but remember they were the bomb! I didn't even know they'd been out here for a while since then until a co-worker played their Christmas cd at work and told me who it was and gave me the low-down on them. Long story short, I have since become a fan of Pentatonix over the past few weeks & this reaction from you captures how I feel about them. I know you got a pretty good ear for good music so I know if you enjoy them, that means I'm still cool even though I'm a somewhat seasoned lady. 😅 Btw, speaking of appreciation for good "sangin'", I think you should check out the 90s R&B group Silk. There's a live performance of them on Showtime at the Apollo doing a song called Lose Control. I'll just say this, you might wanna put the rag on standby.😏😆
Scott is 6 ft 3 inches of extraversion, blond hair, energy, and amazing riffs and runs. If you follow him on social media, you'll find he's always got a dozen projects going with other musicians. He's writing a musical, for instance.
Huge pentaholic here. Just found this & I'm subbing so I can see all your future Ptx reactions too... You have no idea what amazing music you are in for!! I'm excited for you!! I loved watching your face during Mad World. You didn't mention Kevin (my favorite) all the way on the right. He is the beatboxer but has the voice of an angel. He is multi-talented & has his own channel called KO. Please react to the Ptx video from their Christmas Spectacular tour just this past year. (I was at one of the shows in the 2nd row & it was life-changing, just like the other concerts of theirs that I've been to!) The song is called The Kevin Show /Kevin's 5th. He plays his cello & does his "celloboxing", which is where he beatboxes & plays cello simultaneously. He invented this!Your mind will be blown!
Love the Match and Scirsty harmonies on this one. Kevin had less to do this time, but that's ok. Beatbox wouldn't have worked on this one. It's funny, if you go and listen to the original version of this song, by Tears For Fears, you hardly believe it's even the same song!
Please react to Kevin Olusola's Renegade and his Down KOver ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE 💜
That five part harmony conclusion (concussion?) is their famous “Wall Of Sound”.
Recommend their cover of Havana.
Best acepella group EVER yo 🔥 they are unmatched ...I saw them in concert I literally cried it was LIFE CHANGING 😭😭😭
Please react to Gold and Run To You
Please react to Pentatonix singing:
New Rules
I'm a Pentaholic who just subscribed.❤ Kevin does the drumor percussion sounds.😅
thank you!
I need more Matt and Mitch harmonies! Definitely check out their cover of Imagine! They will blow you away. And Amazing Grace is so good as well. Kirstie will blow your mind in that ❤
And that beautiful harmonizing is called MATCH......
@@jeffg9203 I see what you did there lol
@@jeffg9203 I always forget they’re called that! I know they had a name but man I’m an idiot for forgetting it.
Love that you're exploring PTX. I recommend new rules x are you that somebody, happy now, or the popspring 2016 recording.

When they hit you with that 5 part harmony it is just chilling. Amazing!
Yeah that's crazy

UPGRADE!!!! 🎉🎉❤❤
Scott & Kirstie have the leads in a killer cover of Shallow. It’s🔥🔥 🔥 !
Second this one. Also, earlier (with Avi): Say Something.
World Class A Cappella - PENTATONIX

I hear you on the 'ridiculous'. I've been a fan for many years, but they still manage to shock me. One of the many reasons why I love them! ❤️
Great reaction! Thank you for continuing with PTX!

Thanks for watching!!
What up Malone? Happy New Year bro. Glad to see you still rolling. Love yA kid. Rock on my friend.
What up bro! Did you catch that Eminem "kick off freestyle"!??
I would love to see what you think of Scott Hoying solo in Riffs and Runs. Another great solo is Mars (choir version)
The Riffs and Runs is also called “Should I Tell Ya Mama on Ya”
You should check out Superfruit-Feeling Myself. It is Scott and Mitch. Shows some diversity.
You need to listen to Pentatonix The Recording of Evergreen - it will give you an insite to their method
Plz react to "The prayer".…... Mitch don't just slap you, he delivers the KO. Enjoy 😊

Shallow is a good one. Not that they do bad songs
Great reaction again you need some original work by pts. Try run to you and love again 2 originals
Problem, Amazing Grace, Coffee In Bed
There was no beatboxing or accompaniments at all on this one. Just voices!
