Matt + Mitch = Match. Made in heaven! Superlative performances from Scott, Kirstie and Kevin too. These 5-part harmonies are truly special.
My favorite parts of this one are Matt and Mitch singing together, Mitch's eyes being so haunting in his closeups, and Kirstie's side smile and vocal on her final solo part. But the whole song is amazing and they all did a phenomenal job.
I knew you'd love it! Everything about it is amazing, from Mitch and Matt together, no percussion and those harmonies, their signature wall of sound and Kirsties expressions at the end. I just love everything about it. Scott looks like he has tears in his eyes toward the end. Was so apt for when they released it too. Thank you Travis, I knew you'd get to it 🙂
Their version is so much better than the original by Tears for Fears. The chords and harmonies are haunting and stunning at the same time. Love your reactions

I think the Matt/Mitch harmonies are some of my favorites! Their voices are both so pure!

I absolutely love this cover. So haunting. My 9 year old had to run to his keyboard to teach himself to play it immediately after I showed him this. He learns everything by ear and had it in a half hour. He kept tearing himself up. 😂

I'm happy that you reacted to this beautiful Pentatonix cover. They made a masterpiece, IMO. I loved Matt and Mitch singing together. Also loved Scott and Kirstin singing together. I love how Kevin helped fill out the harmonies. Did you notice the shadowy figures walking in the background behind each of them and walked backwards during certain parts of the song? They are so creative.

Hello Travis. Thank you for this reaction. I discovered Pentatonix in October 2020, brand new Pentaholic, so a lot of these songs I am seeing for the first time. Happy to be on this discovery journey with you. Pentatonix never ceases to amaze with their individual and collective talents.
"Simple but haunting" that about sums it up. Also I'll always remember this came out in the summer of 2020. Mad world indeed.

Hey Trav!!! I saw this just as I was fixing to leave to go see Genesis in concert. This is a huge moment/night for me, as I am a HUGE Genesis fan & this is their last tour ever!!! At least this concert is in Charlotte so no train trip is necessary! Lol!😉 Thanks for your reaction to Mad World!! One of my top 5 favs of Ptx covers. And that is a monumental statement!! I am an 80s chick, so this was one of my fav songs then too, by original artists Tears For Fears -a fav band of mine back then & still today (who, incidentally are also on tour again right now!!) Hi Travis!! I'm so glad you reacted to this one. It's one of my favorites, so haunting and beautiful at the same time. So glad you mentioned Adam Lambert and his version from American Idol season #8. (I think he was robbed by Kris Allen that season, just my opinion). Your reactions are always priceless and spot-on. Can't wait for you to hear "Light in the Hallway," and "Where are You Christmas?" How about some Home Free..."Go Rest High on that Mountain" (Vince Gill cover) is a good one.

The first perfect pandemic song, the second being Thank You from their 2020 Christmas album. This was released after their Home EP and before their pandemic Christmas album in 2020.
Just really matched the mood of the time. It was a definite upgrade compared to the original in my opinion.

I love Adam Lambert's version as well. Until I heard PTX's version Adam's version was the best I'd ever heard. So I will just have to love both versions and I wont pick a favorite. By the way have you ever heard Adam Lambert's performance dedicated to the victims of the Pulse Night Club shooting? He performed "Who Wants To Live Forever" with "Queen" the day after the shooting at The Isle of Wight Festival in 2016. Talk about breathtaking and chill inducing. I love the Matt & Mitch harmony. Wish they would do more of it. Did you ever listen do cologne? It has a Kirstie Matt harmony :) It something different than always have to listen to the trio harmony (wich is amazing but we are used to it). I don't understand why Kevin doesn't get a solo in such kind of songs.
