Technically you are correct, however most Americans will use the phrase, "it too years to make", meaning from the date the first idea hit them until they were finished, took years. They are including all planning, all organizing, and anything else that went into the final product. It's just one of those annoying things about the English language, on word or phrase can mean so many different things. So as I said technically your not wrong, but he wasn't wrong either, and actually he is right in his statement.
They did not disappoint, did they? Mitch does the guitar solo live without the megaphone. He doesn't actually need it at all. What comes next? Did you do Daft Punk? You'd love 90's Dance Medley, Coffee In Bed, Radioactive, or Love Again.
You have to remember, when Bohemian Rhapsody came out, it was late 70's. In the throws of rock and roll.We had never heard anything even close to this. It was dubbed Rock Opera.
Mitch had jet lag and downed a couple Red Bulls which kicked in about the time they performed this song. Mitch will blow your mind 🤯. And at the very beginning of the song, Kevin, is not on stage bc he was putting his cello away but rejoined the group on stage. This is not a Mitch slap. This is a Mitch massacre (only meaning that Mitch kills it)
Best if he sees their official video of "Aha!" first, I think, to prepare him a little bit for what is to come. Even before Mitch massacred the song and Avi massacred the sound system in Singapore, "Aha!" was a seriously weird song. (And somehow, the sound of all those speakers dying is the thing I treasure most about that performance.)
@@margretrosenberg420 I agree, anytime someone wants to suggest Singapore, they should state that you first need to watch the official video so you have an idea what is going on. Because as good as Singapore is, you can not really understand what Mitch is singing (The only time in 12 years that they aren't as clear on stage as in the video).
Please for the sake of the reactors, anytime someone wants to suggest Singapore, they should state that you first need to watch the official video so you have an idea what is going on. Because as good as Singapore is, you can not really understand what Mitch is singing (The only time in 12 years that they aren't as clear on stage as in the video). I've seen reactors almost give up, because they had no clue what was happening.
@@ptxlvr7150 Is it really the only time when they aren't as clear on stage as in the official video? (That's a genuine question. I was late to the party, just discovered PTX a few months ago, so I haven't seen everything by any means.) I found it to be a somewhat frustrating experience when I went to my first live PTX concert last November. I was wearing earplugs (for good reason - I grew up during the 1960s so I've seen what happens to people who go to concerts without ear protection, and at a Pentatonix concert you have to protect your hearing from the screaming fans as much as you do from Mitch on too much caffeine and sugar). But that means that when they were talking rather than singing I couldn't catch everything they said, and most of it was important. I also noticed that the lighting was atrocious, from my perspective. They had the big screens so you could see the performers, but mostly just the soloist; you couldn't, for instance, focus on what Kevin was doing while Scott was singing, and you couldn't properly appreciate what Cost and Mayor (the dancers) were doing. On top of that the theater was dark, as it should be, but they had spotlights that were periodically sweeping the audience. It's really hard to watch the stage when there's a spotlight shining straight at you. It made me wonder how any fan videos get made at all.
The Grassi Guitar does not require a megaphone. It is just a prop to draw attention to who is making the sound. I heard it done live and it was EPIC. Mitch might be the reincarnation of Freddie Mercury. Freddie died in November 1991 and Mitch was born in July 1992. He can also grow the Freddie mustache. It is so close to matching it is kinda creepy. The ear panning was done in the original Queen recording. Pentatonix is very detailed in everything they do and pay homage to originals with little things like that.
They rap as well as they sing! Try Macklemore's Can't Stop Us - the PTX upgrade of it. You'll have to listen several times to catch all the treats they throw at you!
I enjoyed your reaction a great deal. Thank you. Pentatonix did a great job with the song and with the video. There is a Behind The Scenes video for this one that you may find interesting. No need to react to it, I just thought that you would like to watch it in your free time.
It takes a person of nature certain age to remember when this song originally emerged the music went that way.. only 2 channels Left and right..and queen did that..its another homage lime the 4 shooting stars... 4 members of queen and Brian May's astronomical endeavors..
This is truly amazing. I've seen it dozens of times, and it still gets me. I'm so glad you are on this PTX journey. Try " Say something". It will blow you away.
This was absolutely mind blowing! Omg Lol I first heard this song at my middle school program performed by our dance class and I was thinking, “Why didn’t my parents ever tell me about this song!?” What 12 year old thinks that!? ❤️😂
Love your reactions! And talk about crazy vocals…. Check out Scott’s (Hoying) Mars solo release but the one with a choir. He’s a vocal beast! I’ve never seen anything like it from him… enjoy!!
Her name is Kristin, the beatboxer is Kevin and the other one in this vid is Avi. Since then Avi has left but I don’t know who he was replaced with. The original 3 was Scott Mitch and Kristin in high school. Then Kevin and Avi joined later.
I smiled the whole time watching your reaction. You were 🔥🔥🔥 This song never gets old for me. And the panning that you heard in ur earphones matches Queens to a T! Thanks for making my evening❣If you can do "If I ever fall in love" featuring Jason Derulo I would love to see your reaction. Shai did the original back in the day. Thanks.
Pentatonix They won The Sing Off in 2011. They made a guest starring appearance on America′s Got Talent as non−competitors a couple of years after that. The founding members are:- Scott Hoying (tall blond guy, natural baritone but has an impressive five−to−six octave range, can go all the way up to high tenor and down to bass, sings the bass lines when the usual bass singer takes the lead);
Kirstin "Kirstie" (Rhymes with "Thirsty")Maldonado (the only female member, natural mezzo soprano, but can go down to low alto and as high as upper soprano, also can sing in whistle notes that are off the scale); For a time in 2018 between the group’s tours, had the female lead on Broadway in the production of “Kinky Boots”. Mitch Grassi (a true contra−tenor, can hit high notes in his chest voice with ease and go WAY higher in his falsetto, also with ease); Avriel "Avi" Kaplan (dark beard and long hair, true basso profundo, trained as an opera singer, also can go up into the tenor range; and Kevin "KO" Olusola (beatboxer extraordinaire, also is a world−class cellist who plays cello on some of their songs, has a beautiful high tenor voice and gets occasional lead vocal solos as well, graduated pre−med from Yale and speaks several languages including Mandarin Chinese). Kirstie, Scott & Mitch grew up together in Arlington, Texas, and began performing together as children in local youth musical theater. They ended up in high school together and performed in the choir. While there, they formed an a cappella group called The Trio which had several performance videos go viral on UA-cam, most notably a cover of Lady Gaga′s "Telephone". The three of them are best friends and consider themselves to be almost siblings. Scott & Kirstie (who were a class year ahead of Mitch) both graduated high school in 2010 and went their separate ways to different colleges, Scott at USC and Kirstie at Oklahoma. While at USC, Scott joined a USC−based a cappella group called the SoCal VoCals, where he met alumnus Ben Bram, who was now an arranger and vocal coach for the NBC TV show The Sing Off, an a cappella competition show. Ben convinced Scott to get The Trio to audition for the show. The three reunited (Mitch had to skip high school graduation ceremonies to go) in Los Angeles for the audition. They found out that the rules had changed, so they needed at least five members to audition. Ben put them together with Avi (a native of Visalia, California), who he knew from Avi′s performing days at Mount San Antonio College in California. They found Kevin (from Kentucky) through one of his UA-cam videos that had gone viral featuring him playing the cello and beatboxing at the same time, a talent that Kevin coined as "Cello−Boxing". Kevin arrived in Los Angeles literally the day before the audition! Scott came up with the name "Pentatonix" after the pentatonic scale. They performed a re−arrangement of "The Telephone" for the audition and passed, despite having been together as a five−piece group for less that 24 hours! They won The Sing Off that season (all of the performances are available on UA-cam), in which they received a substantial cash prize AND a record contract with Epic Records. They pooled their prize winnings together and all moved to Los Angeles, and all got apartments right next door to each other in the same building. But just a week later, Epic dropped them because the marketing people didn′t think an a cappella group could sell records. Instead of giving up, they were determined and began recording their own songs on UA-cam, hiring Ben Bram as their producer and arranger. These usually consisted of the five of them sitting on a couch and performing cover songs live. Several of the videos went viral, and Sony (the parent company of Epic) decided to give them another chance by placing them on one of their smaller labels, Madison Gate. They released two secular EPs and one Christmas EP on Madison Gate, all of which were strong sellers. But when their cover of a medley of songs by Daft Punk not only went super−viral, but also won them their first Grammy, they were promoted all the way up to RCA Records, Sony′s top label. They began writing and producing their own songs in addition to their covers, began putting out a Christmas album just about annually (which has become their best−selling genre), and have had multi−platinum album sales, sold−out world tours, and have won two additional Grammys. Avi began getting burned out with all of the touring and heavy recording schedule, was suffering from anxiety and personal problems, and learned that his mother had been diagnosed with cancer in 2017. He announced he was departing from the group and taking some time away from the music industry. Matt Sallee (from Baltimore) joined them in September 2017. He did only become official when they renewed their RCA contract in February 2018, but he recorded with them in September as a featured artist and went on their Christmas tour as a featured artist, as well. When he attended the audition for the group, he had already mastered the Bass part for most if not all their past catalogue. He was successful and has proved that he fits in well with the group. After a year away from music, Avi has now returned as a phenomenal solo artist in the Folk/Americana/Roots genre. Ben Bram has been in charge of their production, including arranging and directing from the beginning. He is often referred to as the sixth member. Scott and Kevin are major players in the arrangements, but every member contributes. Also, all members are songwriters for both Pentatonix and their own solo work. Ed Boyer who mixes everything of theirs (even the HWB Livestream) is the one who pulled Ben Bram into the sing off in the first place. They were nominated for a 4th Grammy for their album Evergreen, but didn't win. Kirstie became a new mum which caused a pause in touring after their Evergreen Christmas tour 2021. They have announced that they will have a star on the Hollywood walk of fame to be installed in 2023. Things you need to know because if you get these wrong Pentaholics will come after you with pitch forks and torches! 1- There is NO Auto-Tune; what you hear is actually what they sing. They really are that good. One exception is the 90's Dance Medley where Cher used autotune as an effect - so they had to. 2- What produces everything that you hear in the video, you see in the video. If there is an instrument used in the music, you see it on screen. 3- They never release something on video they can’t reproduce with the exact same quality live on-stage.
You only missed one thing, Matt attended a PTX concert at his school, when he was in 8th, 9th, or 10th grade, I forget. But as PTX was taking the stage, Mitch walked over to Matt and borrowed his sunglasses, and wore them throughout the entire performance. Matt has said that performance is what made him decide that he wanted to do accapella, as a career. Other than that, your write up, should be included in all documentaries about them
Really enjoying your reactions! You wonder how they fo that? There is a mini-documentry called The Recording of Evergreen ( Evergreen is the name of one of their Christmas albums) which gives you a little peek into their arranging and tecording process. You might find that interesting to watch 🙂
So glad that you had some background on Bohemian Rhapsody before listening to this amazing cover. Freddie Mercury, Queen, and this song are each iconic in their own right, so recognizing the ways Pentatonix paid homage to all of them here helps appreciate the genius of their arrangement. Queen doesn't have a bass singer, just a bass guitar, so that was Avi's primary role, but his singing lines really bring out the unique PTX sound, along with Kevin's percussion, and Mitch as Brian May's iconic lead guitar solos. Such a brilliant combination of expert talents, old and new, how could this fail to deliver? Great reaction, too. Liked and subbed. Going to check out your other PTX reactions... 🙂
I said the same thing, Freddy would be proud! I know the other group members of Queen gave it their thumbs up when they heard it. I just loved watching your face during this. Worth every minute. Thanks for a most excellent reaction!
You've been Mitch slapped, Avi-lanched, K.O'ed, Kirsty Burst, and Over run by Scott. ^^ Not to mention Matt Sallee. One of my very favorites are their live radio cover of Gold originally by Kilarra. Check it out if you have time!
I love your reactions! The expressions on your face snd your excitement is awesome! Some other must hear songs by PTX are Sound of Silence, Imagine, Prayers for this World, Say Something, Amazing Grace, The Prayer, Daft Punk Medley, The Wizard of Ahhs and any of their other medleys.
Definitely a great cover of bohemian rhapsody! I am always drawn to the drums and bass in this one. Everyone always points out how phenomenal Mitch is in this one (and he is), I feel like Avi and Kevin make you truly forget there are no bass and drums.
Kirstie. Her name is Kirstie- and Kevin is the beatboxer- and Avi is the bass in this- replaced later by Matt recently! you should watch them do this live! :)
Crazy how they took a long song and it did not seem long at all. Her name is Kirstie. Kevin is the beat boxer. Matt's the new bass. Avi is the bass in this one. Matt did the Grinch song.
Hallo Toney.. some time ago you did a reaction 2 Token his freestyle on funk flex! I loved that one so much .. Can you react 2 his new freestyle on Sway? Rapping over 10 beats? Wanna see your *WOUW* over this one😉🙂 Grtz and love from Amsterdam
The audio panning between ears in the early part of the song wasn't their idea; that was how Queen did it in the original; Pentatonix merely duplicated it. In fact, except for the moving sofa and the discovery that Mitch has an inner electric guitar that he can channel at will, most of the things that surprise people about this video are straight from the original. "Anywhere the wind blows" is in the original; people just tend to forget it. So are the wind sounds, though Pentatonix makes them more prominent. In the early days, after they won _The Sing-Off,_ with the prize of a recording contract, only to have the contract snatched away a week later, Pentatonix recorded themselves anywhere they could find decent acoustics and then posted to UA-cam. There are videos of them singing in parking garages, and stairwells, for the acoustics. The audio for their first Grammy winner, "Daft Punk Medley," was recorded in a closet, because it had good acoustics (the video was recorded at a kitchen table). But most of those early videos simply showed five very young people sitting on a couch, with the trio on the back of the couch and Avi and Kevin in front of them, singing their hearts out. The reason the couch in this video had to be motorized is so it could take them on a trip down Memory Lane. The megaphone actually had nothing to do with Mitch's guitar solos; it was just something that Mitch saw lying around on the set and he thought it would make a good prop, so he used it as a prop and it's been confusing people ever since. The starry night sky during Mitch's second guitar solo is in honor of Brian May, who has a doctorate in astrophysics. The four shooting stars are for the four members of Queen. And when the camera pans down from the sky to show them all lying on the couch, it's meant to recall the cover art of Queen's _Sheer Heart Attack_ album. Pentatonix *always* treats the original music and the original artists with utmost respect; when they upgrade a song rather than merely covering it they do so by finding a way to make the song more authentically itself. But *this* song is special to Pentatonix. They love Queen, and they love "Bohemian Rhapsody," so they felt a need to make their rendition of this song perfect. That's the only reason they didn't cover "Bohemian Rhapsody" in their early years; they didn't think they could do it justice so they decided to wait until they were ready. It was worth the wait. They were ready.
@@ToneyReactions This was my 1st time seeing your reactions…just finished your entire PTX playlist. Love your reactions and there are quite a few (lol, over 200) songs of just the PTX songs…they each have their own music. Can You Feel the Love Tonight is a great cover, showcasing their abilities perfectly!

3- They never release something on video they can’t reproduce with the exact same quality live on-stage.
Perfect write up. Hope he reads this
You only missed one thing, Matt attended a PTX concert at his school, when he was in 8th, 9th, or 10th grade, I forget. But as PTX was taking the stage, Mitch walked over to Matt and borrowed his sunglasses, and wore them throughout the entire performance. Matt has said that performance is what made him decide that he wanted to do accapella, as a career. Other than that, your write up, should be included in all documentaries about them
@@ptxlvr7150 If I go into too much more detail, people stop reading. There is possibly too much now! I did know about that Mitch/Matt interaction.
I WAS waiting on this one 🤣😂 so excited!!
I'm waiting for you to react to their Daft Punk medley! It's won a Grammy.
Really enjoying your reactions! You wonder how they fo that? There is a mini-documentry called The Recording of Evergreen ( Evergreen is the name of one of their Christmas albums) which gives you a little peek into their arranging and tecording process. You might find that interesting to watch 🙂
That one is a must watch. But he should react to the Prayer first 😊
Really look forward to more Pentatonix reactions. You are on an amazing journey!
Nice video keep up the goooooood work bro 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks 💯
Wait for it...
⚡⚡⚡🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥⚡⚡⚡
❤🤯🙌
🔥
Recommend their cover of The Prayer.
The Prayer should be your next one from Pentatonix. Talk about a MitchSlap.
5 years in the making, just so they could feel like they were doing Queen justice...
They're PTX!!!
If you haven’t already - check out Kevin Olusola’s individual version of Down. Also Superfruit’s (Kevin and Mitch) Rise.
Superfruit is a duo of Scott and Mitch, not Kevin and Mitch. The Superfruit album is 🔥.
You have to listen to Amazing Grace!
They are awesome u need to do there cover of imagine
They pay homage to every thing Queen does...
Hallo Toney.. some time ago you did a reaction 2 Token his freestyle on funk flex! I loved that one so much ..
Can you react 2 his new freestyle on Sway? Rapping over 10 beats?
Wanna see your *WOUW* over this one😉🙂
Grtz and love from Amsterdam
Listen to “aha!” Singapore. It will slap you ultimately. No joke.
You're doing PTX let's see some Home Free. I know I'm a thorn but give them a listen
Aren’t they fabulous!
Your face at the beginning...
Do yourself a favor, and listen thrm do THE PRAYER and AMAZING GRACE. You will be so glad you did!😊
You didn't know how right you were...
Well, all I can say is that you got a sub from me….
Lmao appreciate that! Check the Pentatonix playlist!
@@ToneyReactions This was my 1st time seeing your reactions…just finished your entire PTX playlist. Love your reactions and there are quite a few (lol, over 200) songs of just the PTX songs…they each have their own music.
Perhaps their greatest strength, other than their insane musical ability, is that they are so supportive of each other individually….
Can You Feel the Love Tonight is a great cover, showcasing their abilities perfectly!
I don't know whether to give up or keep trying. I watch others reacting to Home Free and I'm interested in your take on them. Just try When A Man Loves A Woman . If you don't find it amazing I'll quit bothering you. BTW you are the only reactor I subscribe to
