This video was directed by the AMAZING Storm Thorgerson, creator and visionary behind all the Pink Floyd album covers. He did me a big favor, because we couldn't afford him! And David appeared gratis - such a gentleman. Note the fabulous Hammond organ performance by the late Richard Wright, who also played on this track for free. I am very honored.
Great song Miss Durga McBroom, you are an excellent singer. I attended the concerts of Pink Floyd during Another Lapse Tour in 1989 and Division Bell tour 1994. It was always magical, soulful when you sang the backing vocals of their songs, especially The Great Gig In The Sky, which was the pinnacle for me, your fantastic artistic achievement. I liked your song Alive a lot when it came out on MTV in the early nineties. I still like to listen to it and of course that David Gilmour and late Richard Wright provided their parts, and not to mention the late Storm Thorgerson (for free, as a favour, wow!!!) amazing. They are really great friends of yours too. I hope to hear your deep, soulful voice again, maybe with David Gilmour or just yourself on your another solo work. All the best to you whatever you do in life! Thank you for many beautiful moments that you (and your sister Lorelei) brought me with your singing.
THIS VIDEO SHOWS ALL YOUR EXCELLENCE AS A SINGER AND ARTIST. the fact that Mr. Gilmour and Mr. Wright played for free it says how big you are. Chapeau!
Durga, I listen to your brilliant performance of "Great gig in the sky" in Cologne and Gelsenkirchen. I had been waiting for the concert in Cologne for 9 month and was totally excited. In Gelsenkirchen I climbed illegally over the fences and arrived at the end of a "Astronomy Domine". It meant so much to me. Thank you very much!
I have just learned the sad news that Storm Thorgerson has died. I will always be so grateful to him for creating this lovely and imaginative video. RIP, Storm.
Hmmm . . . for some reason, I can't reply to older comments. All I can say is thanks for the love, and brace yourselves . . . NEW BLUE PEARL MATERIAL HAS BEEN MIXED AND IS BEING PREPPED FOR RELEASE!! If you liked us back then . . . wait until you hear what we sound like NOW!! Stay tuned . . .
grew up listening to Yazoo " Allison Moyet If she Sade and Anita baker had a love child that could be you; can hear that in your voice. Damn what a set of pipes the Good Lord gifted to you.
Love you Durga, you have been with Legends. And by the way, you know what DURGA is in India, the most powerful Goddess. Shine On You Crazy Diamond!! God bless.
Durga, you are a gift from from heaven. What an amazing voice....wow......WOW! And your sister as well. My bro is very ill, took him to see Aussie PF oct 2011 in Dallas since there is no hope of us reaching the REAL PF. The performance was great, and then....to my dismay.... the unexpected happened... Great Gig in the Sky. My initial thought was "why ruin such a great show? they can't do this" Please forgive me, it was my first time.....
GREAT SONG!!! Loved this Very Much--you have such a Wonderful Voice, Durga. This really felt like early 1970's Music--brought back a Wonderful Musical era for me :) Temptations, Supremes, Al Green, Smoky Robinson & The Miracles etc You Nailed It!!! Now I will Have to go find this album :)
Totally loved it! Great song, cool video - and Durga, I do agree with you on the favourite shot ;-) Looking forward to seeing you on stage in Bolivia soon!!
Everybody digs Durga. Our favorite floydette. I think whats interesting here is the crossing of Floyd and Killing Joke. Nobody here in the states has ever heard of Killing Joke and thats a shame. The only thing more of a shame is today is the first i've seen/heard of this.
Naked In The Rain promo video (three versions) Little Brother promo video Alive promo video Can You Feel The Passion promo video Naked in the Rain 98 promo video rare songs: Mother Dawn Gimme Shelter and 1 other I am not really allowed to say at this point. : ) Her new album is coming out probably some time this year, but not sure if she is using "Blue Pearl" or simply "Durga McBroom" as her artist name at this point.
this track is 100% class,Durga girl im so glad i was introduced to this..superb track by a genuine, funny and talented lady...and to top it off 2 fantastic legends aboard...love it xx:)
+Amber Duncan Yes, it is. Storm Thorgerson, the creator of all the Pink Floyd album covers until The Endless River directed this video as a favor to me, since there was no way I could afford his regular rate. David appeared in it gratis, and Richard Wright played Hammond organ for free as well, but I sent each of them a nice case of wine as a thank you. The image of David emerging from my navel was my idea, inspired by the legend of the Hindu God Brahma emerging from the navel of Vishnu as he floated in the sea of consciousness. OK, so it's a bit esoteric and obscure, but hey- David Gilmour is coming out of MY navel. Playing a GREAT guitar solo. Judge all you want - none of you can ever say you've done this. And nobody ever will. I'm quite proud of this video. My favorite shot? The hummingbird drinking nectar from my lips. Storm at his finest.
