- David Gilmour "There's No Way Out Of Here" album "David Gilmour" 1978
There's no way out of here, when you come in you're in for good
There was no promise made, the part you've played, the chance you took
There are no boundaries set, the time and yet you waste it still
So it slips through your hands like grains of sand, you watch it go
There's no time to be lost, you'll pay the cost so get it right
There's no way out of here, when you come in you're in for good
And never was there an answer, there an answer
Not without listening, without seeing
There are no answers here, when you look out you don't see in
There was no promise made, the part you've played, the chance you took
There's no way out of here, when you come in you're in for good
And never was there an answer, there an answer
Not without listening, without seeing
There's no way out of here, when you come in you're in for good
There are no answers here, when you look out you don't see in
There was no promise made, the part you've played, the chance, you took
I have been in infinite awe since 1978.
David Gilmour is one of the most expressive players I have ever heard. His vibrato is flawless, his end-of-phrase micro bends are an art in and of themselves, his way of bending his strings - the timing of the pitch changes - are perfect and not easily emulated, and, in general, the way he "speaks" with each and every note is sublime. Anyone who doesn't hear & feel the brilliance is without a soul.
Peace :-)
It took me only a tiny tad longer, but I am with you! 💗☮️🎶
Moi aussi
vibrato?
I'm 61 years old and I still listen to it.
In the Navy, sitting in a bar in Rota Spain @ 1978, listening to this. Never will forget it.
isn't it cool how a song can take you back to a place and time like that ...
thank you for your service, sir

Great words man
My world will fall apart if this man passes away. I admire him a great deal
+Rick Murch I dread that day...
+Muhammad F. ''If''? He will pass away, we all will mate.
Lovely
+Muhammad F. agree brother.but he is getting up there!!!!
tone ster Sadly...
Every member of the Floyd avoided on stage bravado and were just so reserved and I admire them for that. No bouncing and dancing around or running around the stages. they came, they delivered and blew everyone's minds. absolutely brilliant!
They didn't have to sell energy...the music stood on it's own.
I totally agree saw them in 94 they absolutely delivered
Sailing High Seas has a perfect review of Pink Floyd, so great and yet so modest.
He's a hero of mine. Art all the way to the core! He never copied the other greats - he made his own rifs, his own sound. His sound is unique.
Steve Lee And yet I strive to incorporate sounds and techniques created by this Master, that his legend should live on in MY music! I teach guitar to young folks...
Steve Lee David and Pink Floyd have a very unique sound even today. Glad I stumbled upon this song. I am interested in learning more about his music.
He never copied the other greats. He liked minor keys. Everything he did, he did with taste and style!
Steve Lee Did? He is still writing music, he has an album coming album out september...
Steve Lee You know this song was first performed by another band (The Unicorns) right? :) altough he did produced it.
God this is classic Gilmour. This man is amazing then and now. David Jon Gilmour forever.
David Gilmour is so damn handsome and such a beautiful voice. Great song!
Totally under-rated singer. Outshined by his own guitar.
God bless this guy, his is one of the most talented person in the music industry who ever lived
Partybor Circle Campus University of Chicago. 1983..Third row this guy is amazing.
One of the greatest guitar players of all time. Kind of underrated in my opinion. He was the only one making that sound. Nobody else!
Great David, band and all songs. One of the best musicians (my opinion). ....Thank you for the support.
Cordial greetings and all the best.Enjoy, friend***

I still believe till this day that this is David's best solo album. About Face was very good too, but the vocals, lyrics, and guitar work was spot on with every single song on his first album. The sound production was well done, as well. It still had a bit of the Pink Floyd sound, but definitely interjected himself into every song and made them his own.
Nobody makes a Strat' scream like David Gilmour.
Cameron Zenga, Sr. DAM RIGHT
Cameron Zenga, Sr. SRV
Scott Hareza id choose Gilmour over SRV any day
Clapton
Haunting , haunting , hauntingly beautiful................
This whole album is amazing. It shows just how much David's voice and guitar contributed to the sound of Pink Floyd.
I totally agree Nodrog225!!! I was always such a huge fan of Pink Floyd, but especially of Roger Waters, as when I was younger I just listened to other friends that were also Fans, or read the Album Credits, etc.....and always figured that since Roger had written most of the Music and Lyrics, and was so personally involved in The Wall-The Movie.....that I was just in awe of Roger........But now, years later, and with prescence of the Internet, etc....I have really changed my views!! To me, regardless of who wrote what, and how much of it.....in the End, the Results-Sound is what matters Most!!! And there is absolutely "No Doubt" that David Gilmour produces the Majority of the Pink Floyd Sound!!! He even played so many of the Bass Riffs that were very difficult-complex, for Roger Waters.....as Roger is not a very skilled Musician, let alone Bass Player.....while David is "Extremely" Talented as Musician, and also as Vocalist!! David's Voice "IS" The Floyd!! And if you take a Listen to all of Roger's Solo Albums, as well as all of David's Solo Albums, there is no question that David's Solo Albums are much more Pink Floyd Sounding, as well as Musically Superior to any of Roger's work......Also, after the Break Up, Roger actually belittled and put down the other 3 members of the Band....David, Nick, and Rick......yet they make up 3/4 of Pink Floyd, and their Pink Floyd Albums sound like Pink Floyd far more than any of Roger's attempts at Pink Floyd sound, with the musicians that he's rounded up as a Surrogate Band. He uses so many musicians in his Bands, and yet they all still can't duplicate the Sound of "David Gilmour" let alone Pink Floyd!!! No Contest!! Also, I've learned that David is a far more Humble and Gentleman than Roger ever was. The "Big Ego" never got in David's way.....He was always willing to help Band Members out, and never so Selfish that everything revolved around just him, as Roger was!!
Ray R Amen!!!
Ray R. Well said much respect
Ray R I agree with every word mate, I used to think Waters was the man but as I got older I got it was really Gilmour and Wright who where the most musical members of the band plus for me the Pulse/division bell tour was the best live gig Floyd ever put too film, don't get me wrong I absolutely love live at Pompeii, but Waters isn't missed, even his songwriting because stale and boring I mean he sings about the same shit all the time, Gilmour's solo work is far superior to Waters ✌
Extraordinary guitarist
Gilmour..the velvet voice...and guitar man magic.
funny, the feeling you get when listening to David, it's like everything's good.
Still love this after all these years.. was 17 when I first heard this so, so many moons ago.
Saw it live. Tower Theater.Philly!
One of my favorites also. A sad but great song I can relate to. So glad not to be stuck in that frame of mind. There's no way out of here. !
Kathy Lukic remembere the albums club! Dam a Penny and we had it all
I also heard this song when I was 17 ! Still fresh and beautiful . I used to wake up at 03:30 Am just to hear this song when I was young ! Super song ...never dies...Tks
Me too Kathy.. was 15 at the time and no other band spoke to me at that you g age like Pink Floyd...I didn't know about this solo album until recently...I don't know why....no internet or social media in the late 70s..all word of mouth and the record shop for see new vinyl...
First of all kudos for this excellent compilation of pictures and music. David Gilmour was born to be the artist he became. His talent is magnificent and if there was ever a travesty it was that he NEVER received the worldwide acclaim he so richly deserved. Musician, composer, vocalist, not to mention so freaking beautiful. David Gilmour's music had a message, each and every song, ESPECIALLY this one. I have loved this band for over 40 years and this song will be played at my funeral. Rock on!
I saw him in Rochester, NY in 1981. The greatest guitar player ever.
Pink Floyd music means more to me at 56 then when I was 16. ❤🎶🎸
Dave Gilmour is one of the most talented people on this planet, just increadible. I can listen to his music for hours and hours!
Exact ❤
I don't know what it is, but I could crawl inside this man and be safe for eternity. His looks, his sound, his attitude...He's just amazing. He has played/sung me to sleep more times than I care to remember, and my dreams are sweeter when he does.
singer, what a songwriter...the best there is I say
it is song of Ken Baker
i feel the same as you, Muhammad F. im 55 years old now. ive listened to them since i was 16. Floyd and Gilmour's music is even more meaningful for me at this age. i think there will be many people who will feel the loss of David Gilmour. i love his new cd, Rattle That Lock. i relate to Faces of Stone because i also went thru a birth and death, but in two days time. and my mother suffered dementia in her last two months of life. what a game she and i played until the end. Even after they are all gone, their legacy will live on. i dread the day David passes and i wait in eagerness to hear his next cd. im using my daughter in laws computer. my name is miriam
+Brittany Beauchamp what happened in those two days.???
You might miss a little less if you celebrate what you have now. I would not be moved by someone contemplating or morning what I was or was not, never mind what they think they lost while I was still alive. Morning for what you didn't appreciate when the opportunity presented itself, I understand, but unfortunately that is human existence. The rainbow (start the record now) is that one realizes the wisdom in ones own words and grasp hold of that which they have before it is gone. No criticism intended my friend. Just hoping to inspire.
Hugs to you, Miriam. Both Alzheimer's and loved ones passing away are rough waters to tread through. 💔 Please stay strong.

My sister bought me this album for my 18th birthday .I still have it on vinyl and still play .one of Gilmores, s greats ..
Now I'm 55 and still blast it out ...
Really a brilliant album anyway. The amount of emotion David can get into his playing is unique and the songs tend to have plenty of meaning.
One of the best songs ever..!
Brilliant song!
David, always David, forever David! The Best!!!
Your voice still sounds the same, your amazing, thanks for all the tunes David

Welcome. Sign that contract to hell.
The thinking man's music. Brilliant even by today's standards. The 70s were awsome
Weergaloos nummer van David Gilmour !Heerlijk solo nummer met een vleugje Pinkfloyd..........
this was a wonderful album I've always loved this song thank you for posting God bless you and all of yours.
David Gilmour is my favorite (and therefore the BEST) musician ever.
What a gorgeous man, and an awesome musician, how much better could it get!
im sure i will cry for days when he passes over. Hes my hero. Truly...
this song continues to change my life as i grow and face new challenges. RIP timeless classic rock music ✊
It will be a very sad day when David passes. I've been a big fan since first hearing him too many years ago. Turned both of my children on to him and sadly they may never have the chance to see him live as I have.
love this album on of my favorites
he turned 70 yesterday, 3/7. not to worry. 3 shows in Chicago next month. yes, he is the master.
Dave the best of Guitar!!.
in a way this is the most terror filled song of dread and brutal truth, imagine listening to this and only this for all eternity .
Stuart Houselander It almost seems like he is talking about being tied into a recording contract...???
+guiltseeker
dunno if you've ever done LSD, but there's a point in the trip when you find your self stood up and all around you you is melting and you feel forced to take a choice on your next step forward, you can't trip forever and stepping out of it and back to a world so dull and there's no way out of here, ever.
Stuart Houselander. I completely understand this been here.........
I love David Gilmour
This song is so so true, and Gilmore has such talent! Amazing
Love this song which sadly flopped in Europe !! The album "David Gilmour" reached #17 in the UK and #29 on the Billboard US album charts; The album produced by Gilmour consists mostly of bluesy, guitar orientated rock songs except for the piano-dominated ballad "So Far Away."
It may have flopped, but I'm still a huge Pink Floyd (Gimour/Waters) fan!! Have been for over 20 years. Great music that'll never die
SANDRA MARTINEZ Totally agree Sandra !!
One of my favorite songs by Gilmour.
Wery underestimated band for my opinion...great music from great great performer with one face. He is Genious.
This LP came out at the same time as the height of Disco fad. Glad there was still quality music being made then.
I had to take some time to sign in my gmail account just to tell you guys, this is AWESOME!!! The whole album is superb!!! One of my all time favorite albums!!!
i love that solo guitar!
Our very best wishes and many happy returns to David Gilmour, celebrating his 70th birthday today whilst in the midst of preparations for the upcoming North American tour. ..Maybe he's not the most impressive on a technical level, but no guitarist can paint such vivid imagery and sounds as Gilmour..... he's the best at transmitting a feeling to his music more than any other guitarist I've heard. His music really flows through the song as he takes you through ups and downs.....
He has one of the best guitar tones ever! He has the ability to take you to places you otherwise could not reach..... he creates sounds that you feel right down to your very core.....Hope you have a great day, David!
marilyn manson
+petros pappas What??? You say "Maybe he's not the most impressive on a technical level"?? I disagree. Saw him twice (L.A. and Chicago) during this year's North American tour. His mastery of the the guitar, vibrato bar, wah pedal, etc. is up there with the best. He's good enough to be Rolling Stone's #14 Best Guitarist (December 18, 2015).
I agree, he creates sounds that you feel right down to the core. He is probably my favorite guitarist! I can't think of any guitarist I like better.
Rod Bauer....best regards there
Gilmour is amazing! I love this song.
it's not at all surprising this gentleman has so
many adoring fans, and enthusiasts .. he comes off as intelligent and quite likeable, and his music always speaks for itself..
I love this song,
Nice peace
He's a Genius (Pink Floyd) What could be better listening*************Who Couldn't love this song?
M5S c
It is just so good to listen the same song with people who is elder than me. Im just fifteen years old however , i think i understand and will understand better these meaningful songs. wish i was born in 70s or 80s.
moco coco - I began listening at age 15 also, and I can assure you the meaning of these lyrics indeed changes as one matures. As I am approaching Gilmours' age now I've been gratefully understanding Pink Floyds' way of projecting mortality in song, along with unparalleled music. Enjoy your travel, young-blooded one, as I would love to repeat my own voyage throughout life re-discovering the lessons acquired by loving Pink Floyds' offerings. Pleasant, disturbing, peaceful or portraying notes of anger, all contributed a learning experience I feel shaped me more positively as a person. (Re-read this in 10 years!)
cringe
@@gonzalogamarra4561 hhahahah I totally forgot that I wrote this. Yes,you might be right:))
i dont know such a cool man like him ever existed
+Miss Liesel You mean "exists". He's turning 70 next year.
him and Bob Dylan. Johnny Cash... super cool
Great song written by Ken Baker from the band Unicorn, who David Gilmour produced and liked this song so much he did it on his first solo album.
I could be wrong but from a touring musicians viewpoint it explains getting exactly what you wished for but not understanding the true cost and all that's lost attaining it.atleast to me
I am with you on that my man!! You are very wise.
You do not have to be a musician to appreciate what the artist is saying, it haunts me to this day, I heard it in 78, along with many others who spoke at the time. I hear it now, and it is what it is, did you heed the warning, it is a litany, and look at life now, the full cost has not been paid.
I always loved this song and album. I turned my friend Mark V. on to this in 84 we were 16.. He bought the CD i just knew of it.
He passed away from cancer at 31 and when i listen to it i can feel his presence.
Kevin G Sharing music you love with someone you care about always forges a special connection. RIP, Mark V.
one of his best with such a true message for all to hear !!!! timeless !!!!
thanx David !!!!
I love this thing so much !
I saw Dave Gilmour in a furniture shop once. He was looking at some furniture. Which is cool. I guess.
what was he looking at..a couch or something?
+Ru. Powell He was checking out some occasional tables... those ones where there's a smaller one, that fits under a slightly larger one, and which has a lightly smaller one still that fits under... it.
They always seem to come in threes.
Though personally I'd be tempted to make them go right down to infinity etc, they never do - which I find a bit disappointing to be honest, and I think Dave felt the same way... and was imagining what they'd be like if they just got smaller and smaller until the were the size of higgs-bozon particles or whatever as well.
+Nick Taylor it's preferable when they get bigger and bigger as opposed to smaller and smaller..ie., add them on top of each other until they reach the moon...or some other celestial body
+Ru. Powell Yea, but you can't fit them in the car. I've tried.
+neoiko Funny, I remember seeing him in front of thousands of people. Which isn't a far cry from a furniture shop I guess. . .
David and Roger, thank god for both, such great artists, where did all the Pink Flord go
This is one fabulous song from a master musician!
Great music, use to play it before walking into high school - a rare talent.
The best musical artist ever
when you come in you're in for good.....gorgeous video thank you music
one of the greatest songs from david ever!!!!!
ONE!!.........out of SO MANY of David's GREATEST.......
Written by Ken Baker from the band Unicorn who David Gilmour produced and covered this song from their Too Many Crooks album www.cherryred.co.uk/artist/unicorn
long ago on a foggy S.F. afternoon, I licked a fresh stamp from a Berkeley Lab, and rode on top of the fog 4 a long long time. David took me 4 a ride!
Hmmmmm...
David is Beautiful... that's my thing
please come back to California David Gilmour you are my one and only favorite musician
When I get out of my federal job I will again toke up and hear this song the way I used to.
Love him!!!! I get lost in his dreamy voice! Can listen to his music everyday! Rock on David!!
Written by Ken Baker
Released in 1976, "No Way Out Of Here" would become Unicorn's closest thing to a commercial hit due to David Gilmour later covering it.
well. the more you know
My favorite song of David Gilmour. He's very talented, he has very beautiful eyes and I hear this song 100 times a day...
The Best, Master!
so schön...gänsehaut ohne ende...:-)
There is a way out - it's just not pleasant, and, again, there is no promise made.
Steve Lee ok poppy
My Brother just died and I listen because it makes me feel good... for him. Love you David.
sorry to hear that my thoughts and prayers are with you
I'm sorry but I just can't understand why people post comments just repeating the name of the artist and the song title??? We know what we're listening to. Use your imagination and say what you feel about the song/artist. For example Dave Gilmour is GOD
+Derek Boal they are sharing it on google + that's all
maged darwis h ";;;!!@@
thank you Mr.Music for the selection of great song
There are no answers here ...
Андрей Мельников When you look out you don't see in....
where is?
Saw David Gilmour at the Hollywood Bowl last week and It was the best concert I've ever been to. Seriously, do yourself a favor and go see him if you have the chance!
Nic Saw him at Hollywood Bowl in 1972; best concert in my life as well. I was so moved I must play Gilmours' music daily as it gives me the push I need to keep going! So true that the meanings change as one matures...always something to look forward to.
Addiction???? This song is about addiction, I'm guessing. Because when I listen to it, I apply my addiction and it makes so much sense.
Benedict Cumberbatch?
beautiful, talented guy. :)
Que musica meus amigos 🔝✔👏🎸✌
One of the best albums ever produced.
the best musician on the planet
GOAT
is it best group star in my life
One of my favorite guitarists.
How true to the core
always loved this album good to hear it again
This song is from Unicorn. David makes a great cover.
I traveled 270 miles to see Gilmour perform in Toronto earlier this year. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life and I would pay just about anything to relive the experience.
Gilmore is a god!!!!
i don't wanna live in this f**king world without gilmour's music. god please take me before gilmour
By no legitimate measure is anyone greater than anyone else. The American Way, The Human Endeavor, and God HImself demand it. But when I hear David sing, "There's no time to be lost. You'll pay the cost, so get it right."....I go "Ouch!"
Written by Ken Baker from Unicorn who David Gilmour produced and then covered the song.
Unser Gitarrengott . . .

Me too...a miracle more likely.
as we all kn ow music is timless and so it goes with the muscians that create the music !!! gilmore is one of the few that transend thisd barrier !! just like his music !!
