Won’t be getting the power supply upgrade then. Thought it would be about €80-€100. Bit disappointed that they feel the need to charge so much for something we know won’t cost them much to manufacture :(
Hopefully not tbh, I got that exact csl formula set but after switching to a normal wheel like in a normal car that normal people actually drive I can say the experience isn't as immersive for me personally with such a unique rim choice. They ought to sell a standard rim package instead of so many f1 rims, but it isn't nearly as flashy and people wouldn't need another rim. Formula rims are just awkward for casual driving under 100mph not to mention can't drift or rally race in the traditional way
@@poppachoppa8956 Imagine being a fan of the game, and imagine the 10,000s, that are doing the same thing. Fanatec are a official sponsor for F1 Esports, so they most likely need to do it.
I makes sense from a business standpoint. The CSLDD standalone will generate only a super small margin for fanatec - the bigger margin will come with the additional power supply unit. Besides, the CSW is still more expensive than the CSLDD with boost kit
I guess the endgame is staggered pricing depending on Nm, so 349 for 5Nm, 480 for 8Nm, maybe there will come a 12Nm model for 699 or something like that. Issue here is that it's clearly visible that the difference here is just a 10€ (guess) more expensive PSU that enables the higher mode, so it looks like a money grabbing rip off. If there were more significant difference between the two models no-one would question it, the visibility doesn't help fanatec.
@@ta5jda The thing is, if the customer does not see any benefit to the extra 3Nm then they don't have to buy the PSU. I have a CSL Elite and to go from that to the CSL DD for me will be an upgrade. Maybe not in Nm sense but in fidelity and a much more quiet wheelbase. I'll be happy with the 5Nm!
looking good, give some love to your current DD line, couple of little software issues and it caused me to move from my DD1 to a simucube 2 system but you guys are doing all the right things, i wish you the best, this is excellent for our hobby.
I would also like an answer to this question. I am a dual system user (PC/PS5) and would love to upgrade my G29 but when I saw what the PS compatible DD setups cost, I decided to just upgrade the brake sensor on the G29 and stick with that for now. The cost is quite prohibitive, especially since the current compatible wheels would rip my cheap cockpit to pieces the first time I wrecked. The CSL DD with PS5/PC dual capability would be PERFECT for my needs and at a price that would be fairly easy to justify in comparison to other DD offerings.
Please find a decent Canadian distributor that won't charge 200$ for shipping! Your products are basically near impossible to get at a reasonable price here in Canada!
@@VienBui there is DIY version of the wheel on their site. Hub is compatible with any aftermarket quick release or wheel directly. 1000$ is for complete version with quick release and buttonbox. Only downside i noticed since buying AF, is notchy feeling when you rotate the wheel with the motor off. This is because it uses hybrid stepper motor as a base and it does not affect feedback itself. As for CSL DD, IMO it'll heat up like crazy. Their DD1 and DD2 models significantly loses torque while stalling continuously while using much bigger motors. Maybe it is only safety issue on firmware level, but i was so tired of heat fade of my g27 before buying AF, I feel myself a little paranoid about that now. BTW AF has no heat fade at all, and you feel exactly the same amount of force after hours of non-stop racing. Honestly it was a key moment for me in chousing this wheel. The only pro for CSL DD is it's price in a base 5Nm version. But you HAVE TO use their own quick release with their wheels and 150 euro for a PSU is just ridiculous. Knowing fanatec's pricing politics you'll realise that entire package will be not as cheap at all. And you obviously will not have enough dynamic range to feel all benefits of DD wheel with 5Nm. So IMO buy AF, maybe simagic or build an OSW. If you can save up you money for one of them, believe me, you'll have no regrets.
@@ivowork9233 Well it depends I guess. Yeah, compared to just "being a power supply" then yes. Comparing the whole system to the fact that it's cheaper than a CSW 2.5, it's DD, half the price of the cheapest DD out there and making DD more accessible for everyone with varying budgets, not such a rip off. It's a great step in the right direction.
This is a really good video for your customers. I hope that you get lots of sales and there seems to be a great confidence in this product. I think this is a game changer and the beginning of the end for mid/high end belt driven wheels.
Got my fingers crossed I get a pre order in on the first wave! I'd love to do a comparison video against my CSW 2.5! (Could also borrow my friends CSL Elite too - to compare as well) - I think I'd purposely buy both power banks to allow me to do a review at 5nm and 8nm! Really sad to see CSW 2.5 no longer being produced (as I love mine) but totally understand the reason for producing this CSL DD (and discontinuing the belt wheel bases). Very excited to try this.
I was able to order one, thanks at Fanatec for reserving the first batches to your loyal customers! I also ordered the boost kit because tbh - it's still less than half of the price of a DD1. I started trying out Sim Racing with the CSL Elite and I thought about upgrading but a more expensive belt driven wheel like the CSW 2.5 was no option. And since I wanted to stay in the Fanatec eco system the next wheelbase would be the DD1 for 1.200 Euros. And that's just too much for me. So the CSL DD is a substantial upgrade yet I think it's alot more affordable than a DD1.

The PSU “upgrade” is way too expensive! What on earth is the extra money going on, above the standard 5nm version? The internals of the wheel aren’t changing so why the huge price difference?
Quite simple (in theory). They sell the wheelbase itself very cheap to crush their competition and then overcharge the power supply to make their profits on a part that costs almost nothing to produce.
The additional performance you receive with the Boost Kit 180 is absolutely worth the price. At 8 Nm, the CSL DD matches the ClubSport V2.5 base for torque, but it surpasses it in basically every other area of performance. It is significantly cheaper than the V2.5 base, and delivers higher performance, which is why we have ended production of the ClubSport V2.5.
@@DomB_Fanatec i understand that. But that is all based on what’s inside the wheelbase. The “upgraded” PSU basically just switches something on inside to give the extra power. So I, along with a lot of other people are struggling to see why the cost is so much more for a simple PSU?
That mark-up on the 8Nm PSU is huge so I doubt many will go for it. I'm running a G29 atm at 100% and that's about right for me for now so 5Nm is more than enough 😅
I would love to be able to get the CSL DD and the boost kit power supply together, instead of getting them separate and then having a power supply I won't have any use for.
From the blog post: "We decided that the most environmentally friendly approach is to ship all CSL DDs with just your selected power supply in the box. So if you select the bundle with the Boost Kit 180, your CSL DD package will only include the larger power supply."
So is there a CSW DD wheel coming soon and how would it compare to the CSL DD in pricing and peak strength output? Are we going to feel scammed if we pay 130€ more for a power supply and then a CSW DD is released that costs barely any more than the CSL DD + PSU but performs significantly better?

This is a great video, well done. I can't wait to get this new CSL DD with Boost Kit in hand, it should be interesting to put it against my ClubSport wheelbase V2.
i can't wait!!! i hope the delay for the PS compatible version isn't terribly long!! :) can't imagine any sim racer wouldn't pony up for the extra 3Nm... i know i certainly will!!
So the 5Nm PSU ist about 20$ and the 8Nm PSU 149$. 🤔 I understand that you want a well priced 5Nm Base to catch those Thrustmaster /Logitech users. But hats off, 149… I expect something around 49-79, even fine with 99,- 49-99 this PSU would be a no brainer for me. But 149,- and 20 bucks difference to bundle… I will try that 5Nm version first.

Yeah hopefully they manage to sync up on that. But then you'll have to add $50 PS tax, plus it might be scalped like crazy in the end maybe better to just buy a podium and not wait. I think they are hoping that on the side

This is a great video, well done. I can't wait to get this new CSL DD with Boost Kit in hand, it should be interesting to put it against my ClubSport wheelbase V2.
Any ETA on when the load cell CSL pedals are coming out? I keep seeing soon .. like soon before Christmas or 2022 soon?
Will my McLaren GT3v2 quick release need upgrading if I was to get the 8nm base ?
No
@@momorious thanks for that reply
Great questions and answers… Holy cow on the 8nm upgrade price 😄
I'm falling In love with fanatec all over again thrustmaster won me over and now fanatec has won me back lol
I received the first wave email and clicked the link for pre-order but “not available” why?
i can't wait!!! i hope the delay for the PS compatible version isn't terribly long!! :) can't imagine any sim racer wouldn't pony up for the extra 3Nm... i know i certainly will!!
That's what they are banking on...lol
$130 for an extra 3nm? I'll have to pass on that one. 5nm with the increased accuracy will be good enough for me
When will the DD be available for ps4?
So the 5Nm PSU ist about 20$ and the 8Nm PSU 149$. 🤔
I understand that you want a well priced 5Nm Base to catch those Thrustmaster /Logitech users.
But hats off, 149… I expect something around 49-79, even fine with 99,-
49-99 this PSU would be a no brainer for me. But 149,- and 20 bucks difference to bundle… I will try that 5Nm version first.
When will the PS compatible CSL DD be released?
everyone franticly subscribing to the newsletter
I'd like to know if the table clamp v2 works with the DD ? And what is the minimal thickness of the table ? I've got a 2mm thick platform that I don't want to drill, would it work with either the DD or the v2 clamp ?
130 euros for a power supply! A 3rd party solution needed.
Using a different power supply is not recommended and voids the warranty.
Boo hoo. Go buy a Logitech
@@scottmeredith3359 No need, I already have a clubsport base. Go learn some manners.
@@DomB_Fanatec Fine, I'll risk loosing 350 euro. It's not a money thing, it's a principle thing. 130 euros for a PSU is clearly vastly above cost.
@@rchatte100 i assume there’s no way they can put some sort of “chip” in a PSU to prevent it working? If not, I imagine a lot of people will go down the third party route
So I qualified for the first wave pre-order, and I meet all the qualifications required and followed all necessary steps with the newsletter. I just got notified I'm in the second wave. WHY?
First wave already passed. Currently in wave 3
This is a silly question, but I've only got a Playseat Challenge, and I've seen the CSL Elite Steering Wheel holds up on the Playseat.
Will the 5NM CSL Elite DD Base work out well enough and not break my base on the Playseat? I'm coming from a G29, so I'm just trying to plan ahead if possible.
Dear Mr. Fanatec, Fanatec products are not available for ordering in many countries in the world. Most gaming peripherals manufacturers ship worldwide nowadays, even very small ones. Would the introduction of these amazing new products not be a very good time to introduce worldwide shipping at Fanatec?
Will there be any hardware bug fix(just saying) between 1, 2 and 3 wave if a bug on hw was discover or if all 3 wave is lock in?
That much more for a different power supply? God I hope the second hand market can make on for like £20 − also don’t give us the whole “not good for the environment” bullshit just to boost your profits
The most intresting question for me is, are there bigger DD wheel bases comming based on this new model. So I think this is scaleabe and there are no problems to build a DD similar to the DD1 or DD2. Correct me if I'am wrong.
You mean 10 or 15 NM between the lines?
@@Superstocker669 For example, or a full replacement of the DD1 and DD2.
@@Serubal Why replace them?
When are the preorders?
I am wondering if i buy the loadcell kit will i be able to use the brake pedal as a clutch or would i also need the clutch kit
@@Daz555Daz thanks man!
will you guys go bankrobed in the goming month? my mother tinks that and wont let me pre order the csl DD ( will the csl DD run out of stock for ever if it runs out of stock?)
Is the play seat evolution compatible with this wheel ?
will there be a way to mount this to a wood rig? my csw bolts directly on my wheel deck.
Yes, this follows the traditional fantec triangular pattern found on a lot of bases from fanatec
Then you are able to use the underbody rails right away, as are in the same position as the CSL/CSW mounting screws
Just got the CLS DD yesterday but it is not nearly as powerfull as my CLS Elite even with the booster kit. It feels like it is only 50% the power of the Elite -Why?
Will the clubsport table clamp be compatible
[Sets all incoming emails from Fanatec to “priority one” this week] YESSS!!!
How long will an order wave last? A week or more.
Wie lange dauert so eine Bestellungswelle ? Ich persönlich wäre in der 2. Welle.
The burning question for me is , what do you have against New Zealand 🤨 Fanatec
This sounds quite good, but maybe i'll wait for a CSW 3.0/DD wheel base to upgrade from my current CSW 2.5.
I think the CSW 3.0 will be the Csldd with the boost Kit
thats the DD1
@@beetle_f1524 They said there is a PS-compatible wheel base coming, presumably that wqill be the CSW 3.0.
@@22Uzbekistan No... The PS5 CSL DD will be just that. A playstation 5 compatible CSL DD base. It will not be the CSW DD. The CSW DD is going to slot between the Podium and the CSL's max torque. Expect something in the 10 - 15nm range. Price wise, I hope Fanatec will be sensible with the CSW DD. IMO they should be able to deliver a CSW DD with a the current Formula rim (the red one) for less than a grand.
@@beetle_f1524 I don't think the CSL boost kit will be the new ClubSport wheelbase. CSL, ClubSport and Podium always were separate product lines and Fanatec just introduced a new ClubSport formula rim so i guess there will be a new ClubSport wheelbase and new ClubSport pedals in the future.
Will this wheelbase be on sale forever or is it a limited time thing?
when is this due for shipping?
I hope to be able to get this since i just bought the csl elite pedals and clubsport v2 f1 wheel
GT7+CSL DD would be a killer combo!
Yeah hopefully they manage to sync up on that.
But then you'll have to add $50 PS tax, plus it might be scalped like crazy in the end maybe better to just buy a podium and not wait.
I think they are hoping that on the side
does the current CSL Elite Table Clamp work on the CSL DD?
No it doesn't.
**** YEAH! I am beyond ready. Hit me Fanatec, I'm open!
Are preorders available to all 3 waves? So if I belong to wave 2, then I can still preorder it? Just that it'll arrive on the 2nd wave?
the pre orders are being rolled out in three waves. So you want be able to pre order in the first wave if you belong to wave 2
Will DD and pedals be compatibile with Playseat Challenge seats?
If the CSL or the CSW can mount to the Playseat Challenge, then the CSLDD will have no problems mounting.
I don't know, on the pedals. I assume the new CSL Pedals has the same mounting pattern as the CSLE pedals. But that is a guess.
Preorders open this week to previous customers with newsletter subscriptions. I fit this description, how will I know I can pre-order? I plan to as soon as i can
Youll get a email
DD1 for me!
Are there drilled holes on the bottom like in the dd1?
There are no drilled holes in the bottom, but the t-nuts you place in the slots on the bottom can have the exact same pattern like with the DD1.
Is it compatible with the Wheel Sport table clamp?
