    Good point about their manuscript vs cursive. Also good point about moving forward if handwriting is behind.

    Where did you break the lesson up and how long did half a lesson take per day ?

    • @MyChocolateMoments
      @MyChocolateMoments  2 роки тому

      Just wherever it seemed like a natural break between sections. Lessons usually took us 15-20 minutes.

    Are you still using LOE? Some reviews said that foundations A & B were great, but their kids had a real hard time with foundations C that they needed to change to another program. How was your experience?
    I am choosing between LOE and All About Reading for my 5 year old. Hope I’d pick the best for my son.

      We still use and love LOE! My oldest just finished Foundations D and is about to start Essentials. We took C and D slower than A and B (a year for C and a year for D) but didn’t feel like they were too hard by any means. I have reviews of C and D here on my channel if you want to check those out for more info about those levels.

    Great video! I'm starting Foundations A with my 6 year old this year. We're both so excited now that we've watched a few reviews. I appreciate your honest assessment!

    I just ordered this for my 5 year old son who has pretty severe adhd. I am really excited about it. I used horizons with my older children but I knew that wasn’t going to work for my two younger boys. (I also have a 3 year old son) Thanks for this review! I can’t wait to get started with it! I ended up going with cursive and I am hoping I don’t regret that. 🤦🏼‍♀️

      Yes definitely I'd do cursive. It is simpler for the child. Lower case only starts from one spot - the bottom line. It especially helps dyslexic students

      I’m not sure what most people use but here’s what LOE suggests on their website logicofenglish.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045231451?fbclid=IwAR3rMci0MpIDDT1AIFgN-v358A_j3LgBYjJzsq4UjLhofOdC18O9X8ZtY50

    Should I use a regular size pencil with this or should I get the fat pencils?

    We are new to LOE as I'm just hearing all the great things about it. Do you think starting in Foundations C will put us behind with missing all the rules etc. taught in Foundations A and B. We are past those in reading skill but don't want to start in the wrong spot if we would be missing necessary "previous knowledge". Thanks!

    • @MyChocolateMoments

      You definitely need the phonogram rules from A and B to be successful in C. I’d recommend getting them and going very quickly though them just hitting the stuff you don’t know yet. You could also just learn the phonograms from A easily (using the flash cards, app, songs, etc.) and then speed through B.

    Thank you for your review. This is so helpful. I'm thinking of doing Foundations A with my 2 Kindergarteners. Obviously I would need to get a second student workbook for the second child, but is there anything else you would recommend getting duplicates of? Maybe a white board? Thanks for your help!

    • @MyChocolateMoments
      @MyChocolateMoments  2 роки тому +1

      I would definitely recommend two white boards. Everything else they should be able to easily share.

      @@MyChocolateMoments Thanks so much. You also convinced me with the RightStart Math too! I was detered by the price on both of these when I started my first but they seem like such solid programs and worth the money.

    How do you split your lessons into two to make them 80? Do you do the writing and game on day two?

    I can't wait to start on A. I have the manuscript version... do you think that it will be too confusing if I also teach my daughter cursive simultaneously? I don't plan to buy anything for the cursive and I don't plan to focus on it. I am wondering if that would be fine? I might focus on cursive in a year or two. Thanks.

    • @MyChocolateMoments

      I'm definitely no expert but I think stick to one until that's mastered then move onto the other.

    I went back and forth between this program and all about reading. I chose the latter, but it was a hard choice. I'm struggling with a math program now, because that is not my wheel house like at all. :) I'd like something like this, but for math. You know? Thanks for this video!

    • @MyChocolateMoments

      Right Start Math is a great option that a lot of Logic of English families use because the programs are similar. I have several videos about it on my channel that you can check out!

    Thank you for this review! My son will be 5 in late September so he’s technically TK. He has learned to trace and write some of his manuscript letters. Do you recommend going to the cursive?

    • @pearlgirl
      @pearlgirl 4 роки тому

      Yes definitely I would do cursive. It will help the brain develop even more (I have worked with dyslexic students). It seriously makes a difference. Obviously, lower they always start from the same spot - the bottom line. While printing starts from many spots - understand 8..

    • @MyChocolateMoments
      @MyChocolateMoments  4 роки тому

      I'd definitely recommend cursive! My son had learned how to print his letters prior to starting LOE but he picked cursive up so quickly and loved it!
