I have been looking at so much curriculum to figure out what will be a good fit for my 1st grader and I keep coming back to this curriculum and trying to find videos on it. This is by far the best video I have seen! So informative, I love how you talk through everything!! Thanks so much for sharing!!
When we got to sounding out the, which is always a sight word, I was soooooooo impressed! We are on B now and I can’t stop singing it’s praise. I was shocked that my 4 year old 3 at the time we started could remember all the sounds.
We love Logic of English too! I really was set on not having a sight word focused curriculum because it doesn’t make sense to me either. My almost 6yo finished A and is halfway through B.
Is teaching all the sounds at once confusing? I went ahead and purchased this but I would think they’d teach the basic sound first? Idk everyone is raving about it so I’m giving it a try
We have been at a stand still with my youngest for all about reading. I don’t feel like she has a great grasp of phonograms. So I made a whim decision yesterday to switch her to Logic of English. I’m excited! I found used books online for a good price. I’m hoping this helps her.
I was just doing AAR with my younger boys and stopped because I hate the Fluency sheets lol. I did AAR with my now 8th grade when he was in 2nd grade and hated the Fluency sheets then too lol idk why I tried it with my younger boys. My daughter is still slowly working though LOE C but she has dyslexia so we are just going at her pace. I think LOE has definitely helped her the most out of all the stuff I've tried with her. I hope you like it and it's a good fit. I'm glad you were able to find them used because it is expensive!
do you have a link to the little box with 4 spaces that's organized by color from michaels that you're using to store phonograms!? i need that in my life!
This was such a thorough review and flip through! Thank you! I will be using LOE with my daughter but I’m unsure of what age to start her at. How old was your son when you started? My daughter already knows most of the initial letter sounds but not the additional ones taught in LOE and I don’t know if she would have the fine motor skills for the writing portion yet. She turned 3 in April. Do you think a 3.5 year old can do this? Or would it be better to wait until she’s 4.5?
I think it just depends on if your child is ready. I started off with my 7, 5, and 4 year old doing it together. My daughter (7 at that time) flew through it. My 5 year old (now 6) just finished it and I ended up stopping with my 4 year old maybe 10 lessons in because he just wasn't ready. Every child is different though. I think if I would've found this curriculum when my daughter was 3 or 4 she could've done it no problem.
Love this review! Trying to compare a few curriculums right now for my almost 7yr old daughter. We believe she is dyslexic and this is one I heard can help. Does your child who struggles more have dyslexia also? Just curious since you said once you started this program it just clicked! Thank you!
I'm not sure. She's never been diagnosed. She still doesn't like reading and has a hard time with it, but we are going to finish out logic of english foundations and hopefully she will start to like it more. She does still consume a lot of books via audiobooks and her comprehension is amazing! So, I would definitely suggest letting your daughter listen to some. It will encourage her to love books even though she's having a hard time reading. My daughter dislikeds reading, but loves books!

I KNOW! I love it so much!! It's such a solid curriculum and I love the way they teach handwriting and spelling! My daughter has just come so far.
I loved this video because I’ve been so intrigued since you mentioned it, but finding flip through has been hard!
There are so many videos that do great flip thrus of all the levels!! That’s where I started. I don’t have the links and I’ll try to link them.

Yes a 3.5 can do this! My daughter started at 3.5 bc she was interested in learning. She is now 4.5 and we are half way thru B

Which other ones have you tried? I’m comparing a few & trying to decide 😬
Just A and B so far.
We LUV LOE too, and for all the same reasons you've stated here!
