    Tool is different.
You’re used to the singer being forward in the mix. Tool mixes the vocals as an equal instrument. A part of the band. only forward when the song demands it-the music isnt a separate element. Even when they play live Maynard, the singer, is staged in the back on a platform near the drummer. Bass and guitar are staged in the front.
Ironically, you nailed it. The singer is originally from Ohio.
    😆.
I can tell y’all are intrigued. This will be your new fave band. Try The Pot or Jambi next. 🌀

I’m conflicted. Part of me appreciates your honesty , but part of me is also going to enjoy reading the comments and watching the Tool Army tear the guy on the right to shreds.

Classic rock has to be 30 years old technically but real classic rock to me was made before 1980.

Wait! Tool? I’m loving your channel 🎉
I’ve been listening to Tool since the 90’s

Life long Tool fan here, you should skip their videos and just pull up lyrics. 😊
Check out The Pot and see what you think, Tool is so multifaceted and talented!
Also look at the live drum cam of Pneuma- Tool drummer Danny Carey is unbelievable and one of the very best in the world!

Check out, A Perfect Circle or Puscifer… same singer, 3 COMPLETELY different bands AND sounds! Maynard James Keenan (the singer) is a legend!

You don't have to be dreary or a method head to enjoy Tool guys. It's just over that guys head. The mix is fine youngster.

This is a very old song, from when TOOL was still an embryo of what they would later become. Here they were still a talented but normal rock band. I definitely recommend you delve deeper starting from the catchiest and most easily digestible songs at the beginning, i.e. The Pot, Schism and Invincible in this exact order. Then you can easily follow the advice of the comments because TOOL's entire discography is immaculate anyway! Furthermore, I'm sure that others will also tell you to avoid videos because they are absurd and distract while listening, adding nothing to the song. Lyric videos are much better because the lyrics are exceptional even if not always easy to understand without help.

I'd be floored if you never heard The Pot or Schism on the radio at some point.
The Pot is some indignant rage against a bullshit system.
But maybe give those a try.
    More metal less pretentiousness.
Definitely get the lyrics up tho because they go hard.

This was their first album. They took it to levels you've never seen. Mr hater, check out lateralus album and let's see if you talk that crap. If you can handle the challenge. This was early 90's and analog. The first 2 albums had his voice at the same volume level as the instruments. The albums after the first 2 have the vocals higher. And the singer is from Ohio. Btw. Don't judge to soon brother. Cuz it's just one song. And you haven't seen anything yet. Every complaint you had. Is more than addressed.

My guy talking about Maynard sounding like he is LARPing.. how would he have reacted to him in a pink romper with a mohawk bent in half while singing? We'd have seen the most confused man in history. hahaha
