I really appreciate you starting with the album version and the music video. After you react to this, you can check out the live concert version to see how Maynard performs and embodies the character of the addict.
Great reaction!! I discovered Tool too late to my taste... But I really made up for it, buying their albums one by one 😁 I have to say though that I really connected to the sublime 2-parts song "Wings for Marie/10,000 days", a true masterpiece. RIP Judith Marie 😢
Love your reviews. Dive into the Maynard rabbithole and enjoy. He's in 3 bands and I've seen it referred to as : Tool is his mind, Puscifier is his body, and A Perfect Circle is his soul. Judith is my favorite of his songs as it's written from pure anger and disbelief at his moms faith and how she was treated by her church.
Judith - A Perfect Circle goes even deeper than that. Its written directly to his mother. After suffering a stroke when Maynard was 11, the church she was such a huge part of, that she invested so much of her love and time on, turned their back on her, blaming her for her illness. They actually told her if she had been a better christian God would not have let that happen...but even after all of that her faith grew stronger. In spite of his protestations and the actions of her beloved church, she devoted even more of her life in serving the lord. This frustrated Maynard, being that she no longer lived life for herself, it was all for the lord. So after years of watching her whither away, he created this song.
As said elsewhere, try the live version from Reading Festival 1993. More importantly, check out Lateralus, The Grudge, Forty Six & 2, Aenima. You're in for a ride!
Hehehe you dipped your toe in the Tool pool. Now you're marked forever. Welcome all my fellow Tool cult brethren here to tell her ALL about Tool. Hail Maynard!
The visuals show the character of the addict, based on a friend of the band who felt that his ability to create music was tied to his usage of substances. In this video you see the cycle of the addict "trying to quit", tying up the box, but cutting it open and getting it again when faced with adversity. The pain of accessing the box gets worse and worse because the addict builds tolerance. Finally it doesn't have any "good" to it, it's this horrible machine on your back, rendering you a prisoner to your own torment.
Sometimes it's better just to watch a lyrics video from Tool. Some of their official videos can be a bit distracting. But you have discovered who I consider to be the most diverse and talented musicians alive today!
Early on in your metal journey, you learned how profound their lyricism can be. Tool is at the top of the chart when it comes to lyricism. Their songs are a very deep exploration of psychology.
Very great analisis! My personal gemon might be alcohol. But I can still function. Got a letter from a friend, recently. Sje is fighting depression. And I never gave up on writing her. From time to time. 'Cause she told me once. And I had my fair share of that. So I decided to never abandone her. Last letter was: " I wasn't able to reply to every letter. But they always brought a smile to my face." Addicted (more or less): I'm not: a worthless piece of crap! I am still able to give love. To help others, with the skills that I have.T am needed by some. That is a very strong driving force. Bot only for this friend. There are others, too. So I've learned to control myself to a certain extent. My mantra is: the love you give will fall back in you a hundred times.
Thank you for an awesome reaction. I love watching people discover Tool, and Sober is a good starter. If your looking for other songs to react to i highly recommend 46&2, H., Lateralus, the Parabol/Parabola combo (2 songs but you cannot truely appeciate one without the other), or Pneuma from the newest album. If you react to that one (Pneuma) i highly suggest watching the Danny Cam video produced by Vic Firth, which focuses on the Octopus himself, Danny Carey and his insane drumming magic. 😁 Interesting fact: The claymation created for the Tool videos, in fact most of Tools videos, was created/directed by the guitarist Adam Jones. Amazing talent, from all the members. One last recommendation if I may...its another 2 parter, but its from the acceptance and coming to terms of Maynards mother's passing, and a sad but beautiful pairing of songs. They are called 10,000 days/Wings for Marie pt2. 10,000 days being roughly the amount of time his mother spent paralyzed in a wheelchair after her stroke before she passed.
Oh and if i could, id like to make a correction to the lyrics. Its been posted wrong for Years on several lyric sights, and Ive only seen it correct i think once in all these years. "Jesus won't you F**king whistle/ Mother Mary won't you whisper, Something what the past HAS done." Then it goes... "Why can we not be sober, I just want to start this over, Why can't we DREAM forever, I just want to start this over."
I found your channel through your reaction to ren's songs and sinse then ive binged almost all of your videos, but i still crave more ren reactions from you, may i sugest insomnia? its a 4 year old song of his that i really relate to so it would be really great if you took a look at it.
Greatest band of all time. Hands down, no debate. The video artwork was done by the Adam the guitarist. He actually worked on the original Jurassic Park and has all kinds of talent. If you want some deep introspection listen to 46 & 2.
For thirty years, Tool has made music that has totally saturated my life. IMO, they are the definition of what successful, creative art should look and sound like...
I highly recommend either Invincible or Descending for your next reaction. It would be a nice contrast for you to hear something from them in the last few years to compare to Sober which is one of their earlier releases. Love your channel, you do some of the best reviews/reactions that I’ve seen…
Their live rendition is even more impactful...shocking even. Maynard becomes the creature of the song but yet is able to sing. The first time I saw it I was holding my breath throughout. 😱 Danny Carey, the percussionist, is perhaps the best presently active. A number of drum cams focus on him in "Pneuma". As a musician I challenge you to figure out the time signature 😉 (at a couple of points he is performing a distinct rhythm with each limb). Oh, yeah, the song itself is awesome! ua-cam.com/video/FssULNGSZIA/v-deo.html
Danny's use of polyrhythms is unmatchable by anyone. The man is a legend, on and off the stage. Speaking of videos of Danny, there are several of him performing with kids covering tool songs, and even one of him playing with the band at a college game, all of them done with a smile of pure glee. The man is a literal giant, with a heart to match. 🤘
you do such a good job really breaking down the songs you listen to and although this is not my choice of music style I do apperciate Maynard's voice he has talent as always your ride or die forever EyyyyOoooo
You should also watch this song live... they are awesome performing live !! Pick the live version where the singer is wearing a pink pijamas..or whatever the name is it...i forgot.. lol..
If you want to see how far tool came from a song like this (which was awesome) to absolute and unbelievable brilliance, watch this synopsis and then, do a reaction to TOOL's song Lateralus; How TOOL Used Math To Create Laterals - ua-cam.com/video/uOHkeH2VaE0/v-deo.htmlsi=Gb3xDTgcF3pnSGvr
Great message. Though the video is dark and a little creepy, I can appreciate the time and talent it took to make. This short video would have taken months to make.
New to the channel! I highly recommend the videos for Parabola, Stinkfist and Prison Sex and listening to the songs Pushit, Rosetta Stoned, Lateralus, Third Eye and the Holy Trinity 😊
Love your videos. You should have done the Live version lol. Tool does their own videos and honestly it's very distracting if you are unaware of the music's meaning. If you check out the live version from the reading festival, watch Maynards perfect posture while singing lol.
The dirty versions hit differently , amazing reaction. Thanks for enjoying yourself with our all-tme favorite band 💯
I really appreciate you starting with the album version and the music video. After you react to this, you can check out the live concert version to see how Maynard performs and embodies the character of the addict.
My favorite band! Love your channel ❤️. Tool is exceptional! Have followed them since they started. Great live as well.
Tool has a great catalog. Can’t wait for you to dig deeper
Best thing about reaction channels is that everyone gets to hear TOOL.
Great reaction!! I discovered Tool too late to my taste... But I really made up for it, buying their albums one by one 😁

Love Tool! Thanks Rosalie stay well.
Yay TOOL. Great reaction. 46&2 TOOL'S 46 & 2 is about evolution. Do it! Your awesome.
Schism is my favorite Tool song, and one of my favorite songs period, because it resonates with me psychologically. I hope you react to that :)
My favorite song from tool... great reaction
In my opinion one of the best band of all time I heard them last year in Cologne It was mindblowing
Tool is an amazing band.
As said elsewhere, try the live version from Reading Festival 1993. More importantly, check out Lateralus, The Grudge, Forty Six & 2, Aenima. You're in for a ride!
thank you for re-uploading this
The live version of this is awesome Maynards performance is basically the personification of the pain of addiction.
All the songs are deep and awesome and different introspections. This is the tip of the iceberg!
Definitely listen to more tool 46&2, the pot and sober are some of my favorites
Hehehe you dipped your toe in the Tool pool. Now you're marked forever. Welcome all my fellow Tool cult brethren here to tell her ALL about Tool. Hail Maynard!

Interesting enough the song H. on the Ænima album is the lyrical equivalent of this video's imagery.
Sometimes it's better just to watch a lyrics video from Tool. Some of their official videos can be a bit distracting. But you have discovered who I consider to be the most diverse and talented musicians alive today!
That theme of demons etc is continued in their 2019 song "Culing Voices". The heavier part of that one is leftovers from previous albums.
Early on in your metal journey, you learned how profound their lyricism can be. Tool is at the top of the chart when it comes to lyricism.
Their songs are a very deep exploration of psychology.
Thing about tool. All the music is written before Maynard puts vocals to every song.

I love Tool and Maynards other band A Perfect Circle ❤
This is just of the thrill ride that is TOOL.

That what you're dependent on, controls you.
Another great Tool song about addiction/excess is Stinkfist.
Tool army☀️🔨

Carl Jung - Shadow a reoccurring theme with TOOL
Great message. Though the video is dark and a little creepy, I can appreciate the time and talent it took to make. This short video would have taken months to make.
I got all excited, thought maybe you were reacting to the live concert version.
It's a very good one, but I think she did the right thing in reacting to the album/video version first.
Morphine/opiod withdrawals can have a spiritual experience to them, people have reported a demon attacking them.
Don’t mind me… just here for the TOOL. ✌️
Te has sentido bien diciendo esto
New to the channel! I highly recommend the videos for Parabola, Stinkfist and Prison Sex and listening to the songs Pushit, Rosetta Stoned, Lateralus, Third Eye and the Holy Trinity 😊
This song is a point of view,
from a band with quite the myriad of point of views
Do the live version. 👍👍
Penthouse music 🎸🔨
Why cant we not be sober is a double negative so essentially "why can we be sober"
You should definitely react to Pet and The Noose by A Perfect Circle ❤
Todos los dias un vídeo nuevo
Te gusta tu reflejo?
Sober es el cristal
Para que lo tengas fácil
Love your videos. You should have done the Live version lol.
Tool does their own videos and honestly it's very distracting if you are unaware of the music's meaning.
If you check out the live version from the reading festival, watch Maynards perfect posture while singing lol.
Who is this person giving all these dark Tool songs to you lol?
Watch video again and think of a person going through drug withdrawals
Live version would have been way better
next please react Another day dream teater. cover by Alip ba ta feat Dimas Senopati thank’s

Once I saw you chose the video I had to stop. Only go audio.
